Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Mission Complete ❯ I Don't Think So ( Chapter 5 )
I Don't Think So
You fold your arms across your chest, glaring at the boy. "And why should I?"
He glares right back at you. "Because I'm the one holding the gun."
"And may I ask where you plan on taking me?"
He chuckles softly. "You may, but don't expect an answer."
You scowl. "And people call me annoying," you mutter, then say loudly, "I don't trust you."
"The feeling's mutual."
"I wasn't done yet," you say, pretty frustrated at this point. "I was going to ask you how I should know you're not really an OZ soldier who'll shoot me as soon as I'm off guard."
"And I was going to ask you how I should know that you're really the one who blew up that base," he retorts.
You snort and roll your eyes. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe it would be BECAUSE I WAS THE ONE HOLDING THE STUPID SWITCH!" you yell.
He regards you calmly, his gun still trained at you. "Tell me your real reasons for doing it and maybe then I'll believe you."
You think that over for a second, then nod. "Only if you put your gun away."
The boy nods and does what you told him to, and you ponder what you're going to tell him. "Well… I guess we could start by saying I'm a colonist. And I don't like OZ. Obviously. But whatever. I would've fought them two years ago if I could, but there was a slight problem… Anyway, during that war, my not-quite-boss was also against OZ, except he had been labeled something of a threat to public security and was imprisoned by the Alliance. Or something like that. So after the war, he somehow managed to get released, except for the fact that it didn't matter too much now that the war was over. Except that something didn't seem quite right to him… there was a certain man who had risen to some degree of power within OZ, and there was no record of his death. Sure, he could just have died and his death wasn't taken note of or the body wasn't found or anything, but knowing this guy, my boss-person wasn't too sure of it. He did a bit of research and concluded that the man was probably still alive and up to no good, which is about the point where I met him and started training to do this stuff, just in case. After the Mariemaia incident a year ago, he found out that the man had been in her army and had disappeared again, probably to cause more trouble. A couple months ago, we were able to track him down, and this" you gesture to the flaming building behind you, "is what happened from there."
"Who is this man?" the boy questions.
You grin. "Sorry, but that's top-secret info. As is my name and the name of my boss. And your name too, probably. You can hack the OZ systems if you want to try and find out something. So do you believe me?"
He looks at you for a moment, then pulls out his gun again. "Your story has a few holes. Fill them in and then we can talk."
You sigh and start cracking your knuckles. "I didn't really want to do this, but you don't give me much choice, do you? I have to head back soon, and I don't want to be late." That said, you dart forward at the boy. He looks slightly shocked for a moment, then fires his gun. You duck to the side at the last possible moment and knock the gun out of his hand, following it up with a quick kick to the chest, sending him to the ground. You continue running, turning for a moment to wave cheerily at the boy, who is glaring at you. "Guess I won't be late after all. Bye!"
He stands up slowly and watches you run off, not even bothering to give chase. You don't notice it, but he walks over to his gun and picks it up calmly, stowing it away before he looks at the object in his hand. He reads over the information on it for a moment and then sighs. He turns and heads back to where he'll meet his friends, but not after pocketing the I.D. card that you dropped.
Smart, very smart… but anyway, you're going back to base. Go to page ten.
