Believe What You Want, I'm Outta Here!

You glare at the five of them, just slightly ticked. "What, so my word isn't good enough for you?!?"

"Hn. We learned not to trust anyone on their word alone two years ago," the one with the messy brown hair says.

"And all the evidence, or at least most of it, points to me having destroyed the base, not that I'm an OZ soldier," you say, ignoring the look on Duo's face. "If you don't believe me, even after that, then I don't think that I have any evidence that could convince you otherwise. So, do you believe me or not?"

Quatre hesitates. "I'd like to believe you, and it seems like a reasonable story, it's just that we can't afford to take chances at this point. If you were really the one who blew up the base, that would be a great help to us to have another ally, but if you weren't, it would be terrible for us to start trusting someone who's only fooling us and will probably end up betraying us. In this situation, the risks far outweigh the chances that you might turn on us."

You nod slightly, acknowledging that you realize what he's saying. "Yeah… I probably would say the same thing, if our places were reversed," you say with a slight grin. "Well, what do the rest of you think?"

"I agree with Quatre," the one with the brown hair and green eyes says. The other brown-haired boy nods, and the Chinese one hesitates for a moment, glaring at you. It's obvious how he feels about this situation. You glare right back, silently vowing to get him for this one day. No one has ever called you "onna" before without you retaliating.

Before you can do something rash, however, Duo's voice interrupts, sounding strangely uncertain; something that you never would've expected from someone with his personality. "Well, it might sound strange, but I believe her." You shoot him a surprised look, and he gives you a slight smile and continues, "You weren't there to see her destroy that place. If you had, I'm pretty sure you'd agree with me… even you, Heero," he adds, nodding to the boy with messy brown hair who's currently glaring at you.

The Chinese boy shakes his head. "Well, the point is, we weren't there, and it might not be so wise just to trust her without our seeing for ourselves whose side she's on."

You sigh, shaking your head. "I'm never going to convince you guys, am I?" you ask, sounding slightly more annoyed than you meant to. You have to get going now; Doctor Y wanted you to report back as soon as you were done with your mission, and he doesn't like holdups. As guilty as it may make you look, you have to leave, now. You shoot a slightly sad look at Duo before you speak, not wanting to betray him like this.

"Sorry, guys. It's been fun and all, but I have to get going now. I'll just leave you to believe what you want." As you speak, your eyes are roving around the group, trying to find the easiest way out. There are no handy gaps where you can slip between them, so the only way would be to go straight through one of them. The only thing is, Duo's the one who's most off-guard at the moment.

You squeeze your eyes shut for a moment. 'Sorry about this, Duo.' You rush at him quickly, before the meaning of your statement can sink in. He blinks, startled, and in that moment you sweep your leg to make him fall before punching him in the gut. Duo manages to stay up somehow and staggers back a few paces, and you curse mentally, dashing forward again. However, before you land a blow to his head and make him fall, someone comes up behind you and delivers a swift kick to your exposed back. You whirl around quickly and are just in time to catch a flash of Prussian blue eyes before a right uppercut finds its way to your stomach, knocking the wind out of you. The hurt look in Duo's eyes is the last thing you see before you pass out.
