I think connected with is kind of the wrong word to use. Like who's your favorite or whatever. *shrugs* I didn't think it was that tear jerking but any reaction is a good one. I like Quazie the most. He's so sweet but Talim will forever be my baby. *grins* Anywho, I was going to save his chapter for the next day but your review and its longness...how could I resist. lol. Enjoy!!

Chapter 17:

Somewhere along the ride, everyone grudgingly fell asleep spending the remainder of their freedom in the blissful oblivion of their subconscious.

Their slumber was short lived as they felt the gravity set in once again. Just as grudgingly as they had fallen asleep they left the sanctity of their dreams and/or nothingness.

“Nothing like sleeping in 0g. Almost like sleeping naked.” Duo yawned stretching until he heard his bones pop. He let out a satisfied sigh as his lithe body sunk slowly back the ground. The rest of the youths around him did similar actions before readying their bodies to support their weight once again.

They didn’t have long before guards flood the room. There were more than before, all dressed in fitting black uniforms and tops. Their feet were clad in something that resembled 20th century ninja shoes. Their feet were completely silent against the floor and their presence just a whisper at each youth’s subconscious. This fact only served to make each of them even more tense and anxious.

“Come with us.” One of the guards ordered pressing a button against the wall and out of the prisoners’ reach. A long beep sounded before the clank of handcuffs and cuffs came undone. “Come peacefully and we won’t have to rough you up.” He added smirking silently daring them to do otherwise. He received a series of glares but each convict did as they were told. Disappointed, the guard followed behind the group as they left in a single filed line.

“Welcome to L9.” Another guard greeted. His one visible vibrant blue eye sparkled at the sight of the ‘new meat’. “Our warden will be here to give you a proper greeting. Please make yourself comfortable for the moment before you are fed to hell’s flames.” A sadistic smile formed on his face.

“Any questions?” The guard walked gracefully around the group of young thieves. “Any confessions? Any regrets?” He stopped before them looking over them carefully. His waist length jet black hair slowly slithered over his shoulder as if it were a living thing. He flicked it back absently revealing a silver insignia on the left side of his breast the traveled down and stopped just above his hip.

“So if this is hell….where’s the devil?” Duo asked absently taking his eyes of the guard. They were trying to scare him and he’d be damn if he’d let them even come close. He looked at the place they were being held. They were still inside the shuttle but the walls failed to keep out the sounds of life outside of it.

“I’m right here.” All eyes went to feminine standing in the doorway of the shuttles entrance and exit. Her mysterious brown eyes roamed over each individual carefully from under unruly neon red bangs. Her hair was a slightly duller shade of the red pulled back and styled into a bun. Two chopsticks held the bun in placed.
She was dressed in the same uniform-all black, high collar, fitting all around-lacking in sleeves. Instead of an insignia on her chest, a silver belt and collar was added. Several medals decorated along the belt that hung loosely around her waist.

“And does the devil have a name?” Talim asked analyzing the woman carefully. She met his gaze almost naturally promising torture and various other unpleasant things. A thrill with up the redhead’s black.

“You will refer to me as Shaharra.” She informed them. “But feel free to call me a bitch, sadist, or anything else you can think of. Just be ready to at least try to defend yourself once I find out about it.” She walked further into the room almost appearing to glide across the floor. “I’m not a nice person. You fuck up, I fuck you up. Understand? Good. Fall out.”

The order was given barely above a whisper but every guard present moved effectively as if it had been shouted. Each prisoner was hustled out of the confinement of the shuttle within seconds.

Outside resembled something so close to earth, it was almost scary. The sky was clear blue with clouds and everything. There was grass and trees. No concrete. Adobe huts were positioned all in a strict row around the perimeter. In the distance cement walls could be seen surrounding the area along with a lookout station.

“Welcome to hell, huh?” Quatre said absently taking the last step off the shuttle. No sooner had his feet hit the ground his knees buckled violently. He hissed has his knee made contact with the ground making a crater in the grass and dirt. “Shit!”

“Quat!” Duo moved to help jumping down the last two steps. He almost me the same fate as his friend but was able to catch himself. His muscle screamed in agony as they were forced to support nonexistent weight. “What the fuck!”

“Oh…today the colony is under 5g.” Shaharra warned a little too late. When no one else attempted to move she discretely pushed Quazie making him bump into Gypsy who fell into Serpent who fell into Chef who fell into Wufei who fell into Talim who fell into Heero who fell into Sally. They stumbled down step after step eventually having to jump down from the only place that was safe…for the moment.

Sally sat on the ground not bothering to fight against the gravity. Her muscles and tendons were grateful for that. That didn’t mean that it still didn’t hurt like a bitch. Her skin felt like it was going to rip away from her body. A trickle at her nose alerted her that her nose had begun to bleed under the pressure. She lifted a shaky hand and wiped at the crimson liquid.

Heero fought against the gravity taking two heavy steps forward so the others didn’t fall on him. His 140 pounds had been timed by five if the warden was correct.

Wufei stumbled passed Talim somehow before he reached the floor. He didn’t feel the gravity difference as bad as the other did. He had been trained in far greater levels but that was a while ago. His legs still protested the weight. Sheer pride and stubbornness was the only things keeping him from falling down.

Talim finally fell of the last step and was sat down immediately. No sooner had his body slammed to floor he retched then vomited what little food he was able to keep down before the shuttle ride. Unconsciously, he clawed at the ground as he dry-heaved having nothing left to offer the ground.

Gypsy saw the down boy and registered that he wasn’t going to move as he stumbled down the last of the steps. Quickly she jumped over the rail in an attempt to avoid the collision. When she landed her ankle went wrong. The bone didn’t break thankful but it did twist. She felt more than heard a snap in the dainty appendage. Heat and pain rifled up her leg as she let her legs give way under the assault of gravity. She bit the inside of her mouth in order not to scream tasting blood as she did.

Chef followed Gyspy’s example in an effort to see if his comrade was okay. He landed in a forced squat but refused to let his body touch the ground anymore than it already was. Behind him he felt and heard Quazie land.

Amongst the chaos of the ‘first encounter’ with the colony’s gravity, Serpent was the only one unaffected. He stalked pass each downed youth without as much as a backwards glance. He stood glaring hatefully back at the redhead warden.

“Well, considering your reactions, I’m assuming you’ve never been in anything more than 1 or 2g. Too bad. The gravity won’t be turned down for about a week thanks to the misbehaving of a few prisoners.”
”S-so you punish p-prisoners b-b-by t-turning up the gravity.” Talim said jerkily. His skin was pale and broken into a sweat. His wounded arm stung with the feel of his stitches threatening to open once again.

“Yup…you’ll have to get special dressings for that wound.” Shaharra murmured absently. “Gabriel.” She barked.

A young man about five-eight stepped forward. His dark colored uniform made his tan skin look pale. He saluted Shaharra curtly though his murky grey-blue eyes sparkled defiantly. “Yes, ma’am?”

“Take him to get dressings for his wounds then report back.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Gabriel turned swiftly on his feet and grabbed Talim by his upper arm. His arm flexed once forcing the smaller boy to his feet. Talim gritted his teeth as he was forced to support some of his weight on his own. “Come with me please.”

“Seeing that I don’t have a choice, why not?”

“Shadow.” Shaharra called yet another guard.

This time the man with vibrant blue eyes stepped forward bowing shallowly. “Yes.” Shadow was five-five with long waist length black hair. Silver hoops lined the shell of his ear glinting in the sunlight as he moved.

“Take her and have that nose stuffed up.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Shadow moved lifting Sally quickly without a word. Within minutes they were leaving the group.

Shaharra walked slowly and deliberately around the group of new prisoner. “Colt.”

A young woman stepped forward this time. Her hair was short cut in a boyish unruly manner. Her clear icy green eyes glittered dangerously but with respect. “Yes?”

“Take that one and have that leg checked out.”

Colt moved quickly lifting Gypsy easily before taking off.

“Anymore injuries?”

Heero let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Stubbornly, he pushed against the weight of the gravity. Moments later he was standing straight up with great effort.

Chef followed his example until he too was standing straight.

“I guess not. Being that you are all still standing, I assume you can make it to your new quarters.” Shaharra said almost tauntingly. A series of growls were her only answer. She answered said growls with an amused chuckle that almost bordered on a cackle. “Let’s go.” She turned and began to walk almost skipping as she went.
