Some Way Back : Rinse and Repeat

He knew he was asleep and he was fairly certain that he was dreaming…but all the same he knew something wasn't right. His dreams chased him back and forth, but not staying long enough to let him focus on anything in particular; not long enough to define what it was. It was frustrating and annoying the crap out of him. All of a sudden something in his dream screamed at him to wake up…that something was out of place, but the torment he had put himself through the night before made it difficult to wake up until he snarled at himself and grabbed control.

Sitting bolt upright in bed, Duo ignored the muscles that screamed, due to the workout he had inflicted on them the previous night. But the quick scan of the room didn't have anything jumping out at him as different…except for the strange feeling he had gotten from the dream that he was being watched. Duo hated that feeling…from a pile of experiences on L2. Stretching he banished those memories from his mind…and dismissed his dream as mild paranoia…which was something he knew he suffered from anyway. Of course the stretch not only made his muscles scream at him…but it also brought to his attention that he had not unbraided his hair last night and so had slept with it in a braid… or correction…in a wet braid. It was not going to be a fun thing to sort that out…but he supposed the sooner he got started at it, the faster he would get it finished and be able to eat breakfast. Typical Duo thoughts really. Not aware of what time it was, he looked at his watch and froze…

~Watch…~ He took a deep breath and stared at his wrist for a full five minutes, and he knew it was a full five minutes because he was looking at his watch; which by the way, told him that it was very early in the morning…not even 6am yet. How the hell…he was sure he had left it at the hospital…but at that point in time he wasn't really sure about anything except that he had his watch back and really needed to comb his hair. So being Duo and doing what Duo was good at, he sealed off the doubt about the watch to be dealt with at a later time.

Gingerly he stood and padded into the bathroom. He needed to look in the mirror and see just how red his idiotic move the night before had made his skin. If it was too red he would have to be careful what he wore…else Quatre would get worried…again. As he undid his braid he looked critically at himself in the mirror. The skin was a mild pink colour…but he knew if he used the salve he had in his cupboard it would be back to his shiny white within no time at all. Relieved that he hadn't overdone it…or that his skin had grown used to his constant lack of sense, which Duo reasoned was probably more the case…Duo turned his attention to his now unwound and decidedly extremely wavy braid. He allowed himself a smile…he loved his hair when it went all wavy…not that he would ever admit to anyone apart from Heero. Slowly brushing his hair from the bottom up…which at that length is no mean feat…he moved slowly around his little set up. After putting the coffee on to percolate he returned to the bathroom and brushed his teeth and his hair…quite proud of the accomplishment.

He had underestimated how long it was going to take him to do his hair. It was 7am by the time he was finished, but he was pleased with the wavy, shining, chestnut mass that covered him like a security blanket. For some reason he didn't want to braid it today. Call him rebellious because all the Preventers ordinances said that hair had to be restrained in an orderly fashion…but he just felt like he needed it out. Besides…the shock value it had had yesterday on the people closest to him…was going to be worth reliving…and he had a cruel wish to see the affect it would have on people who didn't know him…especially the ones he knew for some strange reason admired him from afar. He needed it today…

He bent over to look into his cupboard, hair trailing on the ground and he mussed through all of his clothes…finally settling on one of his "priestly" outfits…another security blanket, when he heard the door open. Momentarily he froze, and then relaxed when he remembered he had given the others access. Glancing at his watch he realized it was almost 7:30…and that he had better get a move on anyway…and turned to face the intruder, or as someone who had permission should be viewed, his guest.

Hiding his discomfort, Duo forced his grin to his face.

"Hi Zechs…" The man seemed to be mesmerized by his hair again. Seriously Zechs had good hair too, Duo would have thought that he was used to looking at nice hair. "Sorry about last night man…I just got carried away…I did warn you you know…I am sure you remember…anyway I wont let it get that bad again…"

Zechs smiled…a small smile, but a smile nevertheless. "Yeah…I have to get fitter if I am to have a hope in hell of bouting with you…but in a little while…I would love to train with you sometimes…if you don't mind…I like improving my skills."

That had to be one of the longest speeches Duo had ever heard the light haired man utter. He grinned.

"Well if that's the case…bring it on …"

"I did have a reason for coming this early."

Duo cocked his head to one side…inviting the man to elaborate.

"The suspects you caught yesterday…are stirring…probably going to begin interrogation soon. I took the liberty of calling the others, but thought you might want to be there yourself"

A dark light shone through Duo's eyes…insanity playing round the edges of his vision. "Give me five, I'll be ready in two shakes of a lambs tail, or you know some really short amount of time because I don't think that even the flash could get ready that fast do you… I mean…" The voice trailed into the bathroom.

Zechs sighed as the door closed and he tried to get that hair out of his mind. Did that boy have any idea how he affected women, men and yes probably even children. Probably not, Zechs sat himself on the edge of one of the chairs and waited for Duo.

He didn't have to wait very long at all. Five minutes later, at the most Duo emerged from the bathroom. Zechs almost fainted, but instead managed to raise what he hoped looked like a sophisticated eyebrow.

Duo grinned conspiratively, and chuckled evilly, as he holstered Heero's custom made gun that he had adopted. He was dressed in clothes identical to his habitual war outfit…the one that had been plastered all over the papers and through articles at the end of the war…his priest outfit. His hair was out…well mainly undone anyway…he had tied the top half into a braid and left the underneath loose. Duo was extremely deft when it came to his hair; he knew that, if the way he was wearing it annoyed him after a while, he could always yank the braided portion apart and rebraid all of his hair in a matter of moments. But like he had realized before…he needed to have his hair like that…he needed its security at that moment.

Zechs licked dry lips and rose from where he had been sitting…Duo looked like a death penalty and a wet dream all wrapped into one…if those women let him into the interrogation room…those men didn't stand a chance. "New look Duo…nice…" It was all Zechs could get past his stumbling tongue. He lead the way out of the door and towards the interrogation rooms, knowing that if he walked behind the other man…he would be drooling along with everyone else that looked at him. Zechs didn't think Duo knew quite how that hair complemented him.

#*#

Duo enjoyed the startled looks he was getting on the way to the room. He flashed his violet eyed smile at anyone whose jaw almost hit the ground…probably making it all the worse for those people…but needing the attention to be focused on himself at that point in time. If more people noticed him then he would feel worth something…worth more than he had felt for the last month at any rate. He never thought he was worth anything before Heero… and now Heero was gone…Duo didn't want to fall into that feeling ever again. Heero had needed him, what was Duo without him?

Shaking his head to rid himself of such thoughts as they entered the interrogation observance room, Duo almost bounced in grinning. His bright-eyed mischievous grin met the slightly strict faces of Lady Une and Sally Po, who were trying very hard not to be affected by the hair style he had chosen to don that morning.

"Morning ladies…and such a fine and lovely day it is today…" he almost gushed at them. "Of course any day where you get to make life a living hell for the people who made your life turn into a worthless pile of shit and a poor excuse for existence…is a good day in my book!" His eyes were flitting around the room taking everything in, and he didn't notice the other faces in the room flinch as he spoke. His cheery voice never skipped a beat and the smile never left his face, but there was no doubt that he was deadly serious about what he had just said. He bounced over to the one-way window, which looked onto four different rooms…all sound proofed and immaculate.

He turned around with a half-hearted pout on his face. "Awwww guys…you've separated them…where is the fun in that!"

Sally tried not to laugh…no matter how insane he sometimes appeared to be, he had always been the pilot that she could laugh with or at the easiest and he knew that too.

"Awww come on Miss Po…you know you want to…you can do it…yes that's it…just turn the sides of those pretty little lips up and there you go…Now that wasn't too hard was it…"

Sally was laughing and even Une couldn't help joining in. The tension in the room lessened and Duo threw himself down on one of the chairs, putting his feet up on one of the desks. "Soooo when do I get to go in and beat the crap out of them…" He smiled up at them…those big violet eyes pulling their most…*come on I am gorgeous you cant deny me* expression.

Sally sighed, though she was still smiling. "We need to try it with legal methods first Duo…you know that."

Duo pretended to pout…he had expected as much. "What!" He said innocently…"Are you suggesting that a bullet to the kneecap or threats of death aren't legal…Sheesh…what is the world coming to!"

Even Une deigned to smile. "Zechs, Sally and myself will each take one of them…I think the others will be here soon, so you guys can watch…if we can't get anywhere with them, then I will let you have a go Duo. You just can't kill them…yet…ok?"

Duo grinned…he liked yets. "Sure thing Une-lady…Besides…all I would have to do is stand there and wiggle my little finger at them…I mean who honestly refuses Shinigame I ask you."

"No one in their right mind…" Quatre entered the room, Wufei and Trowa closely following behind. Duo wasn't an empath and even he could feel the guys reaction to his hair. ~haha who ever thought that hair could be this much fun~ But truth be told, Duo found his hair a very private thing and he didn't think he would be taking it out much anymore…but he had just felt the need to show it off…to gain the security it always gave him in greater measures.

"Well Quat…we all know I am not in my right mind…nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be and I do believe that goes for the majority of us nice little ex-gundam pilots. I mean look at Heero…he just got himself mutilated…that isn't a very sound mind now is it?" The others blanched…but Duo actually meant it. He was livid at Heero…he hated him…he could feel that old feeling of betrayal that he had felt with Solo's death. And he hated Heero the more for letting the enemy know where he was going to be…for making himself an easy target.

"Speak for yourself Maxwell." Wufei's gruff voice broke the uneasy silence…

"Ahhh terms of endearment will get you everywhere Wu-man…" Duo wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and the tension in the room abated.

Une watched the altercations between the friends carefully and frowned. Duo was…well he was pissed off at Heero. She would even go as far as to say…that Duo wouldn't be lying if he said he hated him. That wasn't a good response to the loss of a loved one…but then Une hadn't known much about their relationship and couldn't go on what would be the norm for those two. She was going to have to talk to Sally about things later, but someone needed to keep an eye on Duo…and then she remembered Zechs had promised to do just that.

"Oh oh Duo." Quatre's beautiful little face was shining with pride. I found something out…and well set a few wheels in motion."

Sally interrupted before the Winner heir could get any further. "We need to get those interrogations started…Have your chat and hope you enjoy the view…" She left the room with a wink, followed by the other two.

Settling themselves in front of the window looking into that room, the ex-gundam pilots got ready for a rather long session.

"So Quat…what thing is so great?" Duo was now a little more settled as he sunk into his chair and leaned it backwards…keeping his feet balanced on the desk and not noticing his hair was trailing on the floor.

"Oh…" Quatre giggled…tearing his eyes away from the hair he had been watching. The stuff seemed to have a life of its own…it moved all of its own accord…he would swear to that in court. "Yeah GHD…you know…that weird named organization. Well it seems they are one of the "peace enforcer" factions. They don't like us…oh no not one little bit, but they aren't very vocal about it in very public places…only in smaller, particular circles. Well lets just say I put out vague hmmm opinion differences with GHD…and lets just say…in a short period of time, some of their funding will become…noticeably less." The blond boy grinned. "And we all know what losing funding does to people…"

Trowa surprised everyone by grinning. "Yes…it makes them panic and people who panic make mistakes."

Duo clapped the smallest Gundam pilot on the back and smiled. "Cat…I think its about due time for me to tell you I love you…" Looking at the other two he added something else hurriedly. "In a purely platonic, best friend almost like the brother I never had sort of way…" He saw three faces smiling at him…and just couldn't resist…"It's really Wufei I have loved all this time." And somehow he managed to get out of his chair and to the opposite side of the room before Wufei murdered him. Laughing he teased the Chinese man. "Awww Wu-man, you know I'm just having fun."

Wufei suddenly sighed a little and let a smile play on his lips. "Yes Duo…I know." Duo almost felt his jaw drop and hit the ground. The amount of times Wufei had used his first name could be counted on one hand. The Chinese boy…taking advantage of the rare silence continued. "You are simply trying to relieve tension…though I should let you know…that…" He gestured to Duo's sheet of hair. "Is a cruel cruel weapon that I do not believe is fair or just to use." Wufei grinned and sat back down.

Duo's jaw wasn't having any luck coming up off the ground. So he sat and watched the rooms with the rest of them.

#*#

They had been watching for hours and Duo was fidgeting. It was just one of those things he did. Unless he was concentrating fully, or eating…he couldn't sit still for more than ten minutes. By this point in time he had unbraided, rebraided and reunbraided his hair about twenty times…sometimes winding it into all sorts of positions and driving his friends to distraction. Of course Duo knew this and was having fun causing his friends discomfort. He liked to watch people squirm. Finally just settling on braiding it the way he habitually wore it…he decided to do something about his acute boredom.

Pretending not to see the looks of disappointment that passed over the faces of his friends as he had tied his hair back into its tight braid…he stood up and stretched.

"that's it… I cant sit still a moment longer…"

Wufei raised an eyebrow at him. "You called that sitting still?"

Duo shot a halfhearted glare at his friend. "Hn." He shook himself a little and moved towards the door. "They have been in there over four hours and haven't accomplished anything. Watch and learn…I wont even have to say anything."

Before they could stop him, Duo had left the room and the remaining three friends just looked at each other in concern until Quatre suddenly laughed. He was the only one who could see the hall cameras at that point in time. Duo had nimbly removed one of the lock picks that he always kept in his braid, though where he had been putting them when he had been redoing his hair…Quatre didn't want to know, and he was unlocking the door to Zechs room. Straightening he saluted the boys watching him on the camera and very casually entered the room.

#*#

Duo entered the room and grinned at Zechs's surprised face. The man Zechs was interrogating turned to see who had walked into the room and his face paled, when his eyes fell on Duo.

The longhaired man leant against the far wall, on the opposite side of where he knew that the window was. Leaning into it he raised one of his knees so that his foot was leaning against the wall and stood like that. He looked up at the startled face of the man watching him and emptied his eyes and face of all emotion. Then he grinned and the man looked like he was going to faint.

Zechs sat and watched Duo for a minute before settling down to question the man again.

He could hear clicks but he wasn't about to turn again to see what Duo was doing…and he wasn't too sure he wanted to look anyway.

"So Mr Incino… I can call you James can't I, I am sure we have been over that?" Without waiting for a direct answer Zechs continued. "What was your reason for the program being traced back to supervision by your username and password…and your personal terminal?"

A part of Duo was listening and filing the information away for later reference, another part was vaguely focused on a spot above the mans head while his fingers completed the magic that was unsettling the suspect.

Duo had taken Heero's gun out and was disassembling and reassembling it almost so fast it couldn't be seen… he wasn't even looking at his hands…After every time he raised the gun and aimed at the suspect making a bang motion with the gun, a cold smile reaching his eyes. And then the process was repeated.

A cold sheen of sweat covered the suspects face as he answered Zechs's questions, his eyes not leaving Duo's face…certain that all Duo was thinking about was emptying the bullets in the gun into him. His answers changed and Zechs was very obviously more satisfied by them…at least it was obvious to the three men watching the interrogation.

Duo on the other hand wasn't focusing on anything of the sort. Oh sure he really wanted to kill the guy, but a hands on approach would have been his preferable form of infliction. He was focusing on something else entirely…he was focusing on the game that he and Heero used to play… the game that perfected his ability to put that gun together as quick as he possibly could. A small empty smile crossed his heart shaped face when he remembered…but he shook the memory off out of necessity and concentrated on the hard, cold, metal feel of the gun in his hands. He had to.

At Zechs next words Duo tensed…gun held in his hands, facing the floor.

"Well thank you for your choice to cooperate James…you should receive a lighter sentence for this information."

Duo's ground his teeth…what the hell was this about a lighter sentence. It seems the suspect was thinking exactly the same thing.

Still eyeing Duo nervously he asked Zechs. "Lighter sentence…will I keep my job?"

Duo tensed at the question, but Zechs actually laughed.

"Keep your Job…I think you mistake me…by lighter sentence I mean that I am not going to hand you over to Duo over there…yet. If your information truly helps us further…that may even become a permanent arrangement. You will however still be trailed to the full extent of the law…and believe me…that extent is huge for people like you."

The man paled and Duo nodded at Zechs and left the room before them.

#*#

Quatre was amazed. Duo had held to what he said…and hadn't spoken a word. Lunch was brought into the observers' room and the usually talkative boy sat and ate his food without saying anything.

Trowa watched him with concern. "Quatre…he's fine…he is just doing what he needs to. What he needs to get revenge." Trowa understood the compunction in his friend.

Wufei was frowning. "Maxwell shows amazing proficiency with that gun…I didn't realize he was that good with weaponary."

Trowa raised an eyebrow. "Come off it `fei…if one of us was the perfect soldier…you'd have learnt to do that and more…" Wufei chuckled…so unlike him…and only usually seen by his lovers.

Quatre was the only one in the room not laughing.

#*#

Duo didn't want to eat…he needed to concentrate…if he didn't concentrate he would think and at that point in time he really didn't want to think. So he made his way to the next room…not caring about the time…not thinking about it…he was fairly certain that Zechs would inform whoever's room he didn't walk into next what he was doing.

Again he picked the lock…although he was certain he could have gotten a key from Zechs he didn't ask for one, he felt better picking the lock…it calmed him.

He entered the room the same as he had before…grin plastered on his face and positioned himself in such a place that he had the same overview he had in the room before.

~Rinse and repeat Duo, Rinse and Repeat~ He repeated it over and over in his mind as he set about dissembling and reassembling the gun in his hands, long fingers gliding over the smooth, hard metal with self assurance born of someone who has performed this action more than imaginable. Every time he finished he aimed the gun at the suspect again…concentrating on nothing but the smooth feel in his hands, not allowing his mind to slip where he knew it badly wanted to go, and made a bang motion with the gun…an empty smile in his eyes. He had to keep that smile empty…he had to keep himself empty…he couldn't afford to let that part of him yank him back…not yet.

To a computer systems maintenance worker; who had gotten a little greedy; who had never taken part in the war let alone touched a gun, the cool way that Duo took the gun apart, rebuilt it and aimed it…started to get unnerving. The man couldn't take his eyes off it. He was mesmerized, and kept envisaging the gun accidentally going off in the chestnut haired man's hands. Une was talking to the man…re-asking him questions that she had obviously asked him before, but he was now answering somewhat differently due to feeling that the faster he got himself out of that room, the better.

Duo could hear Une talking…and that voice…the voice of someone he knew centered him and he could continue. Refusing to allow his mind to remember the game that Heero and he used to play.

Une was impressed by Duo. She knew how hard it was for the boy not to talk…and she was also pretty certain that she knew what he was doing…and she had to stop herself from smiling at the effect that such a simple act was having on the man she was questioning. Of course the fact that the boy was dressed exactly like he had been when he was fighting the war probably helped impact onto the suspect just who it was he had been screwing over. It made Une glad that Duo was on their side…though she wasn't sure how long that would last, if Duo didn't forgive them for him having lost Heero. She focused on bringing the questioning to an end…drawing out all the answers she could from the man who was now scared shitless sitting in front of her. He had spilled enough, anything else was just blabber and her patience was definitely not boundless.

"Very well Mr Garntil…thank you for your time and cooperation. You will now be escorted back to your cell.

"Bang!" Duo said and Une watched the pale suspect jump almost twenty foot in the air. She tried very hard to stop from laughing herself…while Duo made no such attempt…he just grinned and exited the room, b lining for the next one.

#*#

Une made her way to the observing room to join the others, mildly surprised to realize that it was approaching late afternoon already. No wonder her stomach was grumbling. Zechs and the other three ex-gundams were having a discussion when she entered. They looked up and Quatre, being the little aristocrat that he was, jumped up and poured her a drink. She smiled…the demuitive blonde always seemed to find a soft spot for him in everyone's heart…he was just so sweet.

"Interesting but effective tactic he's using in there…I didn't realize something so simple could be so effective…whose idea was it?" She accepted the cup from Quatre and sat herself down on one of the chairs.

"His own…" Wufei's voice was filled with an odd respect.

Une was impressed.

"Its effective because of the demeanor he is pulling while he is doing it Une…" Zechs stretched a little…

She looked at him…"Explain?"

Zechs waved at the third and last interrogation room being used that day…"Watch and learn Lady Une…Watch and learn."

Quatre was worried…as he watched the scene setting in front of him he muttered: "This one will be different…he isn't like the others…"

They just nodded…Quatre was usuall right about those feelings of his.

#*#

Duo forced himself to enter the third room. Sally Po looked up at him and nodded. Duo glanced at the pathetic excuse for a human being in front of her and frowned. He was different from the others…he wouldn't be so easily intimidated. Seeing a flicker in the suspect's eyes an Idea came to Duo. The game could be modified…it was an inevitability as Heero would say. Actions must be adapted to fit the circumstances. It would be more difficult to accomplish the same ends…but Duo was nothing if not flexible. More direct means would be required. ~Funny Heero, I never understood how you could shut yourself down before this…it isn't too hard…~ Duo pretended not to notice his hands twitching, now that he had been silent for far too long, refusing to admit that he probably didn't have the correct personality make up to suppress himself for so long.

Duo took up his stance again…leaning against the wall, one foot resting on the wall behind him and began his game, taking a once off assessment of the man and his position. This time he let his empty eyes bore into the man as he played his gun game and he took in every nuance of that face. Every smart smirk to the man's mouth when Sally asked him a question…every look of disdain directed to Duo when he answered one of Sally's questions in order to frustrate her. So Duo started to let his hands seem to shake…though he still managed to pull the gun apart and put it back together with amazing efficiency, he made sure that it wobbled every time he aimed it. After a long while of the man skirting the questions Duo's patience wore down and he accidentally fired a bullet into the piece of the seat that was showing next to the mans shoulder; tipping the chair over, man and all.

Sheepish mask on his face, Duo strode over gushing in his usual Duo like way. "Gee I am so sorry…its just that I haven't eaten all day and I guess I was a little shaky and I am so sorry I almost hit you, poor chair… look at the thing… I blew the back off it…wow who ever would have guessed that this little baby had so much fire power in it…" Duo reached a hand down to the man who was lying on his back, shock registering on his face…and yanked the man up none too gently when the man took offered the hand. Letting go so abruptly that the man stumbled Duo turned back around to Sally. "I am so sorry Sally, but you know how eager I am about all of this…if I promise to be more careful can I stay…huh can I?"

"Just make sure you are more careful Duo." Sally made sure she stressed the word…if he was going to do anything else she knew he would have to be careful…he wasn't above the law.

The man became more talkative, but not enough for Duo's liking. He was annoyed…he knew the man knew more than he was letting on. This one was the strongest of the three…he had to be the one who was getting the orders. Still playing his own game, Duo was still focused on not remembering the game he used to play with Heero.

This time when the shot rang out…the man collapsed in a cry of pain clutching his knee to his chest and rolling on the ground.

"Oh shit…"Duo's cheery voice could be heard by all the people watching the proceedings. "Gee man…sorry…Dammit…maybe I should put the gun away…" He was waving it around… "I mean you never know when they'll go off…one minute it seems like they are completely harmless and then " Another shot resounded, embedding itself in the floor next to the mans head…"Oops…see…what was I just saying…they have a life completely their own I tell you. And I mean look…they are almost alive too…so I guess I should probably put it down. Knee shots can be so damn painful…trust me I know… I have dealt out so many of them it isn't funny anymore. Hey are you alright man…" He knelt down to the man so his face was almost touching that of the suspects. Eyes back to his dead expression and his smile so cold the man shivered, he placed the butt of the gun underneath the mans chin…making sure his hand was shaking. "Remember me? I'm Pilot 02…you probably read about me…didn't you?" The man nodded. Duo cackled dryly. "Good then you'll probably also know that I have a manic depressive personality disorder…whoops …did I say that…why yes I did…and my moods can change faster than you can say…BOO!" The mans eyes registered shock…he was scared. "At the moment my mood is good…but you are the reason I now have to spend the rest of my life alone and I am sure you could see how that might negatively affect my mood. So I suggest you start cooperating before I start deciding a good mood isn't my thing for the day. Trust me…there is nothing they can do if I decide to ruin your life…I am the one they call Shinigami after all." He stood winking at the man and hauled him up by his collar…pulling the chair over and plumping the man onto it.

"Gee so sorry about all the interruptions today Sall…You know how I can be…forgot to eat…little light headed and all, besides hasn't everyone always said I should be blond?" She looked at Duo…and was worried…she could see strain in those well guarded eyes, no matter how hard he was trying to hide it.

"Stop playing with your Gun Duo…our friend here wont be able to survive anymore…slips."

Duo grinned. "Yeah…I'll just clean it."

The rest of the interview went rather smoothly, while Duo cleaned the gun lovingly occasionally raising it to admire it in the light and winking at the man…enjoying the flinches he was receiving, it kept his mind occupied and off what he knew it really wanted to think about. Interview finished Sally stood and called an escort for the man to the infirmary. He was aided from the room…all his pride gone, pure fear replacing it in his face.

Sally turned her attention to where Duo had been sitting only to find him approaching the door, gun slipped into the back of his pants yet again. "Duo…wait…"

He didn't even turn around…he just waved a hand…he needed to get out of there now before he lost it…before everything crashed around him. "Can't now Sally…send me the data by computer…I'll read it later…I have to go."

Sally watched him go…as did the other five in the observations room. They were all worried about him.

#*#

Duo walked as fast as he possibly could without running. Reaching his door he automatically entered the codes and overrode the authority once he entered the room…he didn't need to be found in the state he knew he was approaching. ~Stupid medication~ Why had he left it at home? The answer was simple…no one but Heero had known about his condition… and it hadn't been controlled in days now…he should have known better than to push an episode.

His hands started shaking…and his rational side was getting pushed further and further back. The insecure side of his mind pushed forward grasping on that one focal point it had been seeking all day and Duo collapsed onto the bed with a cry, curling into a ball of despair as that side of his mind won the battle and sent him spiraling into a vortex of remembrance.
