Chapter One: The Plan

“So, Flash,” Mastermind said later, with Sphinx stretched across his and Sentinel’s laps, purring. “Now that you’ve been here and decided to help with revenge, I think we can trust you enough to tell you our real names. I’m Quatre, and this is Trowa,” he said, scratching Sphinx under his chin.

“Heero,’ Sentinel said, his arm curled around Quatre and his hand on Trowa.

“And I, am Duo,” Nightcrawler said, bowing low.

“I’m Wufei. The last of the Dragon Clan.” Quatre gasped.

“The Lost Prince?”

“Yes. My grandfather was the last before me. Thankfully, no one knows I’m really alive but you four. No one will come looking for me. Not even the traitorous advisors. They’re all dead. Now, about this plan of ours to get this Zechs… “ The glitter in his eyes dared any of them to comment. They didn’t.

“Well, I guess we’ve got to take your abilities into account and figure out our attack from there,” Mastermind said.

“Duo, you can cover me into the hideout, right?” Heero said quietly, not looking at Quatre.

“Yeah, but you’re not going in alone, ‘Ro. We’re going in there, too. Right Bro?” Trowa shifted suddenly, his weight across Wufei before he sat up and settled in between Heero and Quatre.

“I agree. There’s no way anyone is going in alone. Let’s just talk for now. First, Wufei needs to know what all we can do. I’m a shape shifter; I can turn into pretty much anything, though my favorites are animals… cats mostly. I’m also master of most fighting styles.”

‘I’m a telepath, with some telekinesis and empathy. I don’t use it unless it’s needed, so don’t worry.’ Quatre grinned, since he’d said that into Wufei’s mind. Wufei smiled, too. Interesting powers.

“I’m hydrokinetic. I can also bend steel.”

“And I already told you mine… add to that that I can annoy anyone in the known world except Quatre and my brother.”

“Heh. I’m a pyrokinetic, and I have super speed. Now that we all know what everyone else can do, where’s Zech’s stronghold?”

“It’s on Ocean Grove, across town,” Sphinx said softly. “They tried to recruit Heero before he came to us. So we know where it is.”

“Yes, so we need to set up a way to get in,” Quatre said, thinking. Wufei opened his mouth, but it closed just as fast.

“No. You aren’t even going to try. They think you’re weak. They won’t accept you. That is not an option.”

“Did he just think what I think he thought?” Duo asked, the shadows deepening around him.

“Yes. Infiltration. The idiot!”

“Excuse me! I am right here, you know!” Wufei was irritated that they’d shot down his idea so easily. He thought it had merit.

“Sure it has merit, but you can’t do it. The only one of us he hasn’t seen yet out of costume is Trowa. But, he’s seen Trowa’s fav form. So if you were to go in, you’d have make another animal your new home animal.”

“Wait. What the fuck? My brother is not going into that hell hole! We’re going to bust in and break him. Got it? No one is going in alone! Not even Wufei!” Duo looked pissed, and sad at the same time.

“Oh, Du-chan!” Trowa was across the room in an instant, pulling his brother into a hug. The others looked sad, as well.

“What happened?” Wufei looked confused.

“Two years ago, my sister, Hilde, worked with us. She was also a pyro, along with some precognizant powers. She infiltrated White Fang and became a top officer before they found out she was a mutant. They killed her immediately, because she was alone.” Heero was downcast, curled tightly into a ball. Quatre was curled around him, and Wufei sighed, curling into himself at Heero’s words.

“Oh, I’m sorry for bringing up bad memories. Was Duo…” Trowa answered.

“Yes, he was. She always blew him off, saying she knew he’d find someone better, and that they weren’t meant to be. I guess she knew she’d die.” They all just kind of sat there for a long moment, then Duo pushed away from Trowa and left by way of a shadow. Trowa rejoined his lovers and shifted back into a cat, purring and rubbing at Heero.

“Um, not that the couch isn’t comfortable, but do you have an extra room I can use?”

“Yes! And we can get the fire-proofing for everything!”

“I only need it for my clothes, but even then, I can make my own special clothes. I’ve been doing it for a while.” Quatre untangled from his lovers and showed Wufei to a room next to Duo’s. It said ‘Oracle’ on it.[1]

“Here you go.’ He took the sign off the door and put it in his pocket. “laundry day’s Friday, training room’s in the basement, I’ll set up some flame targets tomorrow. Duo might look mad for a bit, but give him time. The pyrokinesis is triggering memories for him. Lunch is in two hours. See you then!” Quatre left, and Wufei looked around the room. It was decorated tastefully in dark reds and blues, with white and black accents. He saw a few pictures of a slightly younger Duo with a dark-haired girl a few years his senior, and the rest of them. He decided to check out the basement. He took off his gloves and ran downstairs, startling Duo, who was beating at one of three punching bags in the room.

“Shit! Knock next time, will you?” His braid was coming undone, and he looked pissed as fuck.

“I’m sorry. I thought you were in your room.”

“Well, I’m not!” He sighed, and deflated. “Look, I’m sorry. Seeing your pyro skills, it just brings it all back to her. She was the best person ever. The others didn’t know it, but I never asked her out. Not really. Sure I came on to her, but I was always joking. She was just like our sister, Trowa’s and mine. She died when we were little, and hilde was just like her replacement. That’s what tore me up.”

“Oh. Do you have any tape?”

“Sure, for your knuckles? I’ll tape you up if you want.”

“Thanks. This is a pretty good facility. The equipment’s not horrible.”

“Of course not! Heero and I built it. Come here.” Duo taped Wufei up and set him loose. Wufei worked all around and did a great job. Duo was watching him when he finished.

“What?”

“I can see you’re normally good at fighting.”

“I grew up in a dojo.” Wufei grinned and ran upstairs to take a shower before lunch.

I know there were complaints about the formatting of this, but I’m sorry. This is how it works.

I love reviews! Please review!

[1]: Okay, if anyone can guess what Oracle refers to gets a Wufei plushie… or a bad drawing of a Wufei plushie!
