Chapter 1: Day Dreaming

Usual Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or Lord of the Rings!!! Although I want to as a Christmas present!!! Yeah and then I can marry Legolas and have an affair with Sesshomaru or the other way around. LOL.

She was sitting at her desk staring out the window. She was in her AP Chemistry class. The teacher, Mr. Nelson, was going over a problem that no one understood. Things seemed simpler in the summer. She had gone to visit the family she had stayed with a few years ago. They were the Higurashis. She met them when she was in the exchange student program. Needless to say that she felt out of place in Tokyo, Japan than back in Oklahoma. She instantly became best friends with Kagome. She had heard about the adventures in the Feudal Era and usually smiled and shook her head when listening to the family's stories about it. Selene never believed it until this summer when she came to visit.

It all started on a Monday. Selene saw Kagome jump into the well. She decided to follow and see if all the stories were true. When she climbed out on the other side she realized that she wasn't in Tokyo anymore. It felt like in the movie The Wizard of Oz, only Selene wasn't Dorothy and it wasn't a magical land, just a medieval one. She was in a meadow of some sort. There were tall trees surrounding the edges on all sides. The meadow seemed oddly familiar as if she had been there before. When she walked about a few hundred feet into the forest she ran into Kagome.

Kagome introduced Selene to Shippo, the cutest whatever she had ever seen. It wasn't until later that she found out he was a Kitsune youkai. She was also introduced to Lady Kaede and Myoga the flea. They were among the wisest looking people she had ever met. Although Myoga was the first talking flea she had ever met as well. But it wasn't as freaky as one would have imagined even though she never had. Yes and then there was Miroku the monk. It didn't seem like he was a monk especially when he asked her to marry him and bear his children. She was instantly shocked and would have hit him herself if Sango, the demon slayer hadn't beat her to it. Selene had to admit though Miroku was kind of cute, but she would never say it aloud because she knew almost immediately that there was an attraction between he and Sango. The one person, or well hanyou that stood out to her though was Inuyasha. She felt like she had met him before except when he was much younger. She could picture him as a child. It was really weird but she tried to ignore it. He had beautiful silver hair and glimmering gold eyes. Eyes that she recognized from some of the dreams she had earlier that year. Selene didn't notice until later the fangs, claws, and dog ears. Inuyasha could only stare at her. She felt like he knew her in some way. Through the entire summer he avoided her and rarely spoke.

She was blasted back into reality when Amanda flicked her back, and said that Mr. Nelson was speaking to her.

"Selene?", questioned Mr. Nelson, "are you following me on this because you have a lost look on your face?"

"Oh yeah, um…could you go over it one more time?", she smiled "I think I'm beginning to understand."

"So where are we going to eat!?", yelled Amanda.

"You've been acting really strange since you came back from your trip to Tokyo", Ashley said concerningly. She was really starting to worry about Selene. Amanda, Selene, and she had been friends since only last year, but they were as close as sisters and Ashley could tell Selene was thinking about something else.

"What?", Selene said after a couple of minutes.

"See you've been zoning out more than usual", Amanda inquired, " It's like you are in some other world far away from here."

`I am off in some other world,' Selene thought ` the world of Feudal Japan.'

"So are we going to Pizza Hut or Braum's!?", Amanda screamed again.

"I don't care, where ever you guys wanna go. I'm not that hungry anyways", Selene explained.

On the way back to school Selene walked out in the middle of the street without even thinking. (A/N: Braums and Pizza Hut are within walking distance.) Luckily the car was able to stop in time.

"Selene! What the hell is wrong with you!?", Ashley yelled as she pulled Selene back to the curb, "Where is your head at?"

"No where that concerns you," Selene coldly said. She was relieved to see the walking sign change. She really didn't want to answer to Ashley or Amanda for her behavior as of late. She felt like it was none of their business. If only HE was here with her everything would be better.

"What was that all about?", Amanda asked a fuming Ashley. She couldn't believe how red Ashley's face was and how rude Selene had been. She could already tell it was going to be a long day.

Selene reached the school long before Amanda and Ashley. She decided to go to Lora's locker and grab her books before Amanda returned asking questions. As she walked inside the glass door she noticed that Kagome was standing near the office speaking (A/N: Kagome is bilingual in my story. Hehe…) with Ms. Fitzgerald, the principal. All Selene could think of was that the village was in trouble or that Inuyasha and Sesshomaru fought…. `Oh no,' she quietly screamed, `What if…?' She walked over as fast as she could and caught Kagome by surprise. Kagome almost jumped out of her skin when Selene touched her shoulder so she knew that something was wrong.

"Ahh…oh Selene it's you!," sighed Kagome.

"What are you doing here? Not that I am displeased to see you but ….why?," Selene said trying not to sound hysterical. She knew she was slowly losing that battle.

Kagome pulled Selene to the side after she told Ms. Fitzgerald to excuse them.

"Something happened…it's not bad…well yeah it is. Someone came through the well. Looking…for …you," Kagome whispered.

Selene knew of who she spoke. Someone she had fallen in love with during the summer. The only person who knew about them was Inuyasha and Selene made him promise to keep it a secret. He didn't even act surprised when he found out. She decided to play dumb.

"Who would leave the well? Who could besides you, me, and Inuyasha?," she played it out slyly.

"Sesshomaru…he is looking for you," Kagome was trying to pry answers from her friend.

"So what do we do?"

" I think you would be safer if you came with me back to Japan. Back to the Feudal Era. That way he will have no choice but to return when he can't find you here."

"How do we get from here to there? It's impossible. I have no money and how did you get here anyways?"

"Totosai and his bull. We really need to get going," Kagome said as she pulled Selene towards the front. By that time Ashley and Amanda reached the school in enough time to see a flash of lightning and a cloud. They didn't know what happened but all they knew was that Selene was gone. The only person who saw the bull was Amanda.
