"Can I speak to you for a moment, Selene?," Inuyasha asked as he started to walk away. He had to speak to her about the little event he witnessed the night before between her and his brother, Sesshomaru.

"Yeah sure. I'll be right there I just have to put this up," Selene said utterly confused. In a way she knew what he might have to say because she heard a slight growl that distinctly sounded like Inuyasha's. A slight grin came to her face as she walked over in his direction. It caught her funny that she knew his growl because of all the times he and Kagome fought. `You could easily tell that they were married', Selene chimed in her head.

Inuyasha saw the smile on the girl's face. `Exactly like hers', he thought. He quickly gained control of his thoughts and concentrated on what had to be said.

"I honestly think that what I have to say is quite serious and does not require a smile," Inuyasha cruelly said.

Selene was taken a back by not only Inuyasha's comment but his seriousness. It was decided that he was the one spying on her and Sesshomaru. She quietly sat down on a log and looked up with sincerity in her eyes.

" I know what you have to say. I know that you were watching, and I definitely know that you, of course, do not approve," Selene whispered. At this point her head was pointed down at her feet. They had some how caught her attention.

"All I want to know is why," Inuyasha calmly said as he bent down towards her. He gently lifted her chin to see determination and love there. A look that SHE had always given him when they spoke of serious matters.

" All I can tell you is that I love him. I know that you may not see what I do but then again you are not me. Please don't tell Kagome. She will never understand and I will NEVER hear the end of it," Selene said pleadingly. It was obvious that Inuyasha had no intentions of telling his mate, but the young girl wanted to hear him say it.

"As long as you don't do anything stupid. But I guess it would be appropriate to welcome you to the family, Lady Selene of the Western Lands," the hanyou said as he hugged her close. With the conversation over the headed back to camp with Inuyasha's arm over Selene's shoulders. Inuyasha lied about it to Kagome, saying that he wanted to understand Selene more so that it wasn't an uncomfortable situation when they were around each other.

"Why are you staring at me? Feel torn from your lover?," Inuyasha hissed. It was starting to freak him out and he began to think that maybe she was daydreaming that he was Sesshomaru.

Selene was snapped out of her thoughts with Inuyasha's crude remark. `Perhaps he never meant a word of what he said', Selene thought as she glared daggers into him thinking of a good comeback.

"Somewhat…but I wouldn't worry my simple minded, half-breed self about it," she snapped back. As soon as she said it she began to regret it.

" Well I'm not the one who did something stupid did I? You would think that the Lady of the Western Lands would know a better come back!," Inuyasha screamed, " I was wrong and so is Sesshomaru! You're nothing like HER! Why did you have to come and haunt me with memories and convince my brother, unwittingly, that you were HER?!" His face was red with all the effort he had put into yelling his point across.

"Who are you…or more importantly what are you talking about?," Kagome said as she began to stand between Selene and Inuyasha. She had never seen the two of them this upset before. Plus she was completely in the dark about what had been going on lately.

"Little Miss Innocent became mates with Sesshomaru because he thinks that she is someone else that WE both lost a long time ago," huffed an overly agitated hanyou. He was ready to break her heart with what he knew was true.

Kagome almost fell over with shock. Selene and Sesshomaru? Married? All she could do was stand there in disbelief. Selene couldn't believe he blurted out her secret without so much as a thought.

" You're the new Lady of the Western Lands? You're married to Sesshomaru?," Kagome was almost in tears. She couldn't believe that her best friend did not tell her about this marriage. She had a sister-in-law all this time that she didn't know about.

" I'm sorry you had to find out like this, Kagome. I made Inuyasha promise not to tell you about it. So don't be mad at him. I knew you would be disgusted," Selene said trying to recover from what just happened and in a way apologize to Inuyasha by defending him to an obviously pissed off mate.

Kagome was fit to be tied. Not only was she left out of a very important detail in Selene's life but that Inuyasha was entrusted with it. Selene made it seem like she couldn't trust even her best friend, but could easily tell the husband.

Selene could see the frustration and confusion in Kagome's eyes but this held little concern at the moment. She wanted to know more about the woman that she somehow reminded Sesshomaru of. In all the time that she had spent with him, he never mentioned he had been with someone before. That would have to wait though. First, she would have to deal with Kagome's fury, Inuyasha's side of the story, and bringing her husband back home. Selene could already tell this was going to take forever and create hundreds headaches.

"Can we work on reuniting me with my husband first!," Selene screamed over the bickering couple in front of her. Kagome was on top of Inuyasha choking him, while he was trying to pull her off of him without hurting her. The sight was quite funny and Selene would have laughed if she wasn't trying to be serious.

"Fine. So where do we start?," Kagome said coldly as she got off Inuyasha, but not without a last kick in the shin.

"First, could you tell me who you're talking about, Inuyasha?," Selene asked innocently. She was hoping she didn't make him so mad earlier that he wouldn't tell her.

"I'm talking about you being Arsinoe Evenstar! She was an immortal that raised me after my mother died. She was already married to my brother when I was taken in by him. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. She was my life, my hero, and I was her son. She died when I was like eight. It happened when Sesshomaru was away patrolling his lands. The palace was attacked by a Belrog of Morgoth. He killed Arsinoe and my nephew Alexander," Inuyasha relayed the story. A tear fell down his cheek as he recalled that fateful night. The fear he saw in her eyes as she threw him out of the library came running back to his senses.

Selene became angry at this. Sesshomaru never told her that he had been married before and that he had a son. She knew it was probably because of the way they died but he lied! He told her that she was his only wife!

"Evenstar? That's an Elvish name. It was the name given to Lord Elrond's daughter Arwen in The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien," Selene remembered. He was one of her favorite authors.

"She can't possibly be an Elf. They don't exist," Kagome added.

"Yeah I bet you thought the same things about demons," Inuyasha huffed. No one would ever speak against Arsinoe. Not even his own wife.

"True, but even if they do exist they supposedly left Middle Earth for the Gray Havens," Kagome was determined to win this battle.

"Not all. Arwen Evenstar stayed behind to be with her love, Aragorn of Gondor. And Legolas Greenleaf sailed the seas with Gimli the Dwarf. (A/N: I don't know if its true but in my story Leggy stayed behind.) He returned to Gondor after Gimli's death," Selene said more to herself than to Kagome and Inuyasha. She was becoming frustrated because she could not remember all of the story. (haha I know the feeling)

"Well Arsinoe was the daughter of a Numenor descendant and an Elvish princess. She was engaged to marry the Prince of Mirkwood but chose my brother instead," Inuyasha told the girls. He remembered how Arsinoe always spoke of her parents lovingly. Something he and Sesshomaru could never do.

"Oh Kami!," Kagome screamed, " Then she is Arwen's daughter! They say a little about it in the third book in the appendices. No one knows what happened to her or her sister and mother."

" I know what happened. Arwen lives in a cabin in the woods. She has lived here since her husband died. They came here to Japan from Gondor," Inuyasha said. He felt stupid never putting two and two together whenever Kagome and Selene spoke of Arwen Evenstar.

Selene couldn't believe it. It was real. All of it. The Lord of the Rings was a real story! She had to see Arwen Evenstar for herself to believe anything that happens after.

Inuyasha grabbed both girls and started running in the direction of Arwen's cabin. It wasn't clear on whether she was still alive but he figured she would be seeing as how she was an Elf.
