Meet the Family

Kagome woke up the next morning more resigned to her fate. It had sunk in that she was going to have to live here for her 2nd year of high school (AN: I don't know whether it would be her sophomore of junior year in Japan so I am going by the American high school schedule. She is 16.) whether or not she liked it. She might as well make the best of it.
Kagome decided to go visit her cousin, Tohru. She hadn't seen Tohru since Kyoko's funeral. Kagome's mother and Kyoko had been sisters, so when Kyoko died Mrs. Higurashai automatically offered Tohru a place in their home. Tohru decided to stay with her grandfather on her father's side so she didn't have to move away from her home.
Kagome knew that Tohru had moved out of her grandfather's home, but Kagome didn't know where she moved to so she decided that she would go visit Tohru's grand father first. He would be able to tell her where Tohru lived and Kagome happened to be quite fond of the man. He seemed very nice when she had met him at Kyoko's funeral and he had been very good to Tohru.
It was very nice out that day so Kagome decide to bike to his house rather than taking the train. She reached his house in 15 minutes and parked her bike in front. She walked up and knocked on the front door. A snotty looking teenager with brown hair who looked about 18 years old opened the door. "Yes?"
"Is Mr. Honda here." Kagome asked politely.
"Grandpa. Some girl is here to see you." The girl called and then wandered off.
"Oh, Kagome-san, it's nice to see you." he said as he walked into the hall. "Please come in an have some tea."
"Thank you." Kagome responded as she followed him down the into the kitchen. He filled a kettle with water and set it on the stove.
"How have you been doing, Kagome-san? If I remember correctly you lived in Tokyo. Has that changed?"
"I have been doing fine. Oh, thank you." She said as he set a cup of tea in front of her. "My family is still in Tokyo but my mom thought it would be best if I went to school here for a while. I have been having a little trouble lately." Like a certain hanyou who won't let me go to school.
"Well I hope the move will help you."
"I hope so too. I was wondering if you could give me Tohru's new address. We will be going to the same school and I was hoping we could do some catching up before classes start."
Kagome and Tohru's grandfather finished their tea and conversation. Kagome was given Tohru's address and left felling much more cheerful than when she had woken up that morning. She hummed as she rode her bike, following the directions Mr. Honda had given her.
Kagome stopped when she reached a dirt path that jutted from the main road. She pulled the piece of paper with the directions on it out of her pocket and read it carefully. This should be the place. She thought to herself. But, I'm not sure if I like the idea of Tohru living here. There is a strange aura emanating from this land. Oh well, if this is were Tohru lives then I am going in. It's not like there would be anything in there that would be worse than things I have already faced.
Kagome turned her bike onto the path and started riding. As she sped down the path she felt water droplets falling on her. Oh this is just great it's raining! I am gonna be all wet when I see Tohru for the first time in nearly 2 years. Not that I was gonna make a great impression anyway. She had been half asleep when she got dressed that morning and had pulled on the first set of clothes she had found, which had happened to be a pair of baggy jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt that was three sizes too big. She knew she looked like a boy and felt that way even more when she pulled up her hood that hid her face. She continued riding and getting soaked until she spotted a house. She pulled her bike up in front and walked up to the door. Kagome knocked and waited for someone to answer. And waited. And waited. And waited. Her good mood had been washed away by the rain and she was beginning to get very annoyed when she heard noise coming from inside the house. It sounded like people fighting and a girl was screaming. Wait a minute. I know that voice. Tohru is screaming. Alright that's it.
Kagome pushed on the front door and found it to be open. She walked inside and followed the noise into what looked like the dining room. Inside she saw a boy with dark gray hair fighting another boy with orange hair. Tohru was standing and pleading for them to stop fighting. There was another man, with black hair, sitting at the table crying and muttering some thing about a conspiracy to destroy his house.
As Kagome stood at the door taking in the strange sight she took in some thing else too. All three of the men were emanating not only the usual aura of the human spirit but a second aura of a youkai spirt. It was as if there were two souls in each of their bodies. The only thing that reassured Kagome was that the youkai spirits were dormant. Even so the boys who were fighting were upsetting Tohru and if they weren't going to stop Kagome would make them.
Kyo and Yuki looked up as they felt an unfamiliar battle aura flare. Before they could register an attack they were both laying on opposite sides of the room. A boy in baggy jeans and a gray sweatshirt stood where they had been a moment ago. Yuki just sat there staring in shock at the person who had just kicked hin across the room. He had not been knocked down in three years. Kyo, on the other hand, with his temper, shot back up and began a flurry of attacks aimed at the stranger who had just walked into his house and had the nerve to attack him. The boy blocked the attacks effortlessly, but soon got tired of it and sent a kick into Kyo's stomach. Kyo flew backwards, with the pressure of the attack, and crashed through the paper screen into the yard.
"Kami! I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean to send him that far! I'll pay for the screen!" The boy said in a hurry. Kyo groaned and started to pry his body off the ground. The boy ran out to him and his hand out to help Kyo up. Kyo glared at him and got up on his own. "I really am sorry," the boy repeated, "I was only trying to get you to stop fighting. You were upsetting Tohru or hadn't you noticed." Kyo looked up at Tohru and looked a little ashamed of himself. He shook it off and turned back to the stranger.
"Who are you? What are you doing in our house and how do you know Tohru?"
"Oh! I'm sorry. How rude of me." The "boy" pulled back her hood, revealing her raven hair and beautiful features. "I'm Kagome Higurashi."
