Trouble Can Be Spelled Kurai

Souta shifted uncomfortably in the lavish room that they were locked inside of. He had already tried to unlock the door, but it was to no avail. It was bolted tight. ‘Kagome-oneesan…Where are you? This place is terrible…Momma’s a mess…We need to go home.’ He was brought into a much needed hug by Kun-loon and they both stayed like that for a while. “Okaasan? Why are we here? I mean, we haven’t done anything to deserve this so why do we have to be taken from our home and used as bait?” Kun-loon sighed dejectedly. “I’m not sure sweety. But I know that you’re right on one thing. We’re going to be used as bait. But for what, I don’t know yet.”

Souta’s head snapped up as he heard the bolt that locked the room shut tightly, unlatch. The door swung open and a tall, lanky, beautiful woman stepped inside. She had shoulder length black hair that framed her face and had the brightest green eyes that he had ever seen. She was carrying a plate of food that smelled so enticing, so mouthwatering that it had him drooling a bit. He refrained from doing anything when Kun-loon glared at the woman sharply. “Why are you here? Haven’t we been tortured enough?” The woman chuckled softly. “I’m not here to torture you. I’m here to feed you. The lord asks me of it.” Kun-loon looked at her skeptically. “How do we know that we can trust you?” She smirked. “You’ll have to learn that for yourselves.” She placed the tray of food on the veranda and went to the door, stood there for about thirty seconds and it opened just enough for her to get through. The sound of the latch being bolted again was ever present in the lavish, quiet room.

Kun-loon was silent as she stared at her son. “Souta, don’t touch it. I don’t trust them.” she said finally. Souta looked at her inquisitively, but nodded anyways. “Hai momma.” A soft voice floated through the room, and a small, laugh that, by the sound of it, sounded friendly to them. “Well, if you’re not going to eat…It’s better for the bait to sleep then!” The air had a sickly sweet smell to it, and both Kun-loon, and Souta found that their eyes were dropping fast. Without being able to say anything, both of them fell into a comatose-like state, their bodies curled against each other protectively.

“Gooood They’re asleep. The master will pleased.” Kurai purred softly. Kirena, who was leaning against the wall, glanced at her with a bored look. “Kurai, the master would be pleased if his newest pet came here now. This is so boring…” She said exasperatedly. Kurai snickered. “Why don’t you go and find some humans to torture? That always is fun…” Kirena’s eyes brightened. “That actually sounds fun. Do you want to come with me?”

Kirena waved her arm lazily at Kurai. “No, I don’t feel like it right now. I’ll do it later.” Kurai scowled. “Alright, I’ll see you then.” Kirena’s figure was translucent as it slid into the dark castle wall and she fell on her lavish bed without a sound. “Aaawwwhaa” she yawned showing her fangs. “I should take a nap…” she whispered to herself, her eyes shutting as sleep overtook her.

Kagome shuddered as a burst of cold wind slid against her warm skin. Her teeth chattered slightly and she glared at the offending window that was open. “Damn thing…” she muttered, and closed it tightly. “I guess that’s what I get for going and getting my own lemonade…” Her eyes narrowed and she turned around as she saw Alucard, who was grinning at her misfortune while he was floating behind her. “What do you want?” She gritted out. His grin got a little malicious and he chuckled. “I was bored, and you can entertain me.”

“Entertain you? I’m not some kind of toy you overgrown excuse of a vampire!” He leaned closer to her. “All humans are toys woman, they have their uses and their capabilities.” Kagome cringed and pushed him away, not liking how he sounded just like Naraku at that moment. She looked back at him once and said softly, “We aren’t tools or toys. We’re stronger than we’ve been given credit for.” she disappeared behind the corner and almost jumped as she ran into Seras. “Hello Kagome-chan” She said with a grin.

Kagome grinned slightly back. “Hey Seras…” She said almost sadly. Seras caught this and her red eyes looked at her worriedly. “Are you okay?” Kagome scowled. “Not really…I want to bash someone’s head in though…” Seras’ eyes widened knowingly and she smiled a bit. “It was master Alucard wasn’t it?” She grumbled. “Hai.” She thought that she was rid of the crimson-clad vampire, but when his dark baritone voice came from the shadows on the ceiling, she cursed. “You hate me that much little miko?” “Damnit! Can’t you leave me alone!” Seras looked up with a confused awe. ”Just buzz off and bug someone else.” she mumbled and grabbed Seras’ arm. “C’mon Seras, let’s get out of here.”

“I have the perfect thing for us to do.” She said as she led her newfound friend to her room. “Let me get my coat, and we could go out and have some fun!” She said with a grin. “That actually sounds like a good idea Kagome-chan!” She stood in the doorway as Kagome rushed in and grabbed a light fashionable coat, and contemplated on bringing her quiver and bow with her. “Nah, I shouldn’t need it…” Seras glanced at her and smiled slightly. “We get some sightings of ghouls in the city, its always a good idea to be prepared…” She nodded and grabbed them. “Yeah you’re right.”

Almost running down the hallway, they passed by Integra’s study. Knocking on her door, she stepped in. “Hey Tegra, we’re going to go out for a while, make sure that annoying bat stays clear away from us k?” Integra looked at them with hooded eyes. “Alright. Just make sure not to run into Anderson while you’re in the city Miss Victoria.” Seras nodded. “Yes sir!” Kagome smiled gently and grabbed Seras’ hand. “Well then, let’s go!”

####################################################### #################

Kagome’s eyes were wide with wonder as she stared at the many shops and stores that dotted the corners of the streets. Leaning slightly against the limo, Seras said in a soft voice, “We’ll be waiting here in about two hours.” The driver nodded and drove off back to the mansion. “Well, let’s explore. They really changed things and I want to see what’s really happened since I’ve last been here.”

Kagome’s eyes caught a beautiful dress that was being showcased in a high-priced and popular clothing store and she almost cried her heart out. It never really got to her how much she missed her feudal era friends, but seeing this dress, she was reminded so much of Sango’s pink and green kimono. “Sango-chan…” She whispered, and froze there to the spot. Seras walked at a leisurely pace, not really noticing that Kagome had stopped, but when she did, she looked back at her with a confused look. “…Kagome-chan? Are you alright?” Kagome was silent and her eyes were glassy. “Kirara…” She murmured and looked into the blonde’s eyes.

“Kagome, let’s go over to the theatre….Do you want to see a movie?” She looked at Seras with a sad gaze but nodded. “Yeah…Let’s go.” Kagome knew the way, so she just paid the price for two tickets and walked up to the concession stand. Seras took this time to order the food, hoping that Kagome wouldn’t go overboard and she would have to rinse her mouth out with water then feed…

She probably wouldn’t be surprised…Just a little shocked I think…

Kagome shook Seras out of her reverie and led them to their ‘gate’ and chuckled because she hadn’t been in a theatre in so long. It’s with everything that’s happened…And with Inuyasha…He’s a total slave driver.

Both of them were sitting in the middle row, and were chatting amiably about random things that popped up in their heads. “Hey Seras? How do you put up with that ugh…abomination of a vampire for a master?” she asked quiet enough for only her to hear. Seras chuckled.

“Believe me, It’s not easy to put up with everything that master does. He gets almost unbearable and all you want to do is hit him.” Kagome had a large grin on her face.

“Hitting him would be very satisfying, but blowing a hole into his hide would make my day.” Seras looked at her somewhat horrified and Kagome’s grin turned evil. “Don’t worry Seras, I won’t do it unless he really does something to deserve it.”

She nodded slightly and turned her attention to the screen. Both of them couldn’t understand why they were actually were there, but then it seemed like a good idea at the time. The movie dragged on for a grueling one and a half hours, and when it was over, both Kagome and Seras stretched thankfully. “Mmmmhm!” Seras moaned slightly as her back cracked. “Well, that was boring.” Kagome nodded. “I’d have to agree with that.”

Kagome and Seras looked at each other. “Let’s go for a walk in the forest! It’s always so pretty at night…” They nodded and walked out of town briskly, smiling as they got to a more rural area. “Now it’s easier to see the stars…” Kagome said softly as she looked up.

The peaceful chirping of the crickets and the tranquility of the night was rudely interrupted by the distinct aura of youki and Kagome’s eyes narrowed. She grabbed her bow that was strapped to her back and grabbed a quiver. “Something’s here…”

Seras’ head snapped up and it almost sounded like she was growling. “They’ve surrounded us…” She hissed.

########################################################## ##############

Kurai grinned widely as she stared at the half vampire and the strange miko that were standing in the clearing. Normally she didn’t have mindless youkai that obeyed her every command, but it was different from the ghouls that she had to deal with.

Have fun boys. But Keep the miko ALIVE DO YOU GET ME? OR YOU WILL BE SENT TO THE SEVENTH LAYER OF HELL!!!

Cursing almost as bad as Inuyasha would, Kagome fired two hamaya and decimated half of the youkai that were trying to get at their skin. The pinkish blue light flared brightly overhead and Kurai had to move back in fear of being destroyed. Well, If they can’t get her, I’ll just make an appearance later…She faded into the darkness of the trees of her hiding spot and Kagome hissed in anger as more youkai tried to get at both Seras and herself.

Kagome didn’t have any patience right now for these youkai, so she continued to fire her hamaya at them. One of the youkai got past her and cut her arm deeply and as she pulled the trigger and aimed at the youkai’s head, It exploded with a bloody mess. “Duck Seras!” Kagome shouted as the rest of the youkai dived at them. She did and Kagome fired two hamaya that were filled with enough power to decimate every demon left in the clearing.

Her barrier fell slowly, and she helped Seras up. “You okay?” She nodded. “Yeah...But what in the hell were those things?” Kagome gave her a weak grin. “They were youkai. For me, they’re easier to deal with than ghouls…” she said as she looked at the ground that was littered with some carcasses.

“I think it’s time that we have a little talk with that crimson vampire that you call master, Seras…He might’ve run into some of these youkai before.” Seras didn’t argue with her. “It’s this way.” she murmured, and led her back, not taking that long at all to get back to the Hellsing manor, both were surprised at the greeting that they got when they arrived. “Hello Alucard.” Kagome said. Alucard gave her a smirk. “Hello little miko.”

“We need to talk.”
