My Last Breath-04

“WAAAAAAHHHHH!” Mary and Usagi screamed as they fell through the air and landed on their butts… On something soft. “Gah!” they yelled as they jumped off the man in the monk's outfit that they fell on. Mary and Usagi rapidly bowed and began apologizing as the monk stood up. He advanced on them, but Inuyasha stepped in front of him and hissed “I wouldn't suggest you try your act on Mary if you want to keep your life…” Tears filled Mary's eyes as she turned and fled away from the group. Sesshoumaru glared at Inuyasha before he followed her. He came upon her hiding under a willow tree, crying softly whispering “I'm not a killer, It's not my fault… Yes it is, it always been my fault.” Sesshoumaru walked up to her and lifted her chin up. She wrapped her arms around his waist and continued crying. He stood her up, and hugged her as tight as he could “Mary…” she looked up at him, smiled softly, and kissed him soundly on the lips pulling him onto the ground. They laid there for a minute before standing up, dusting themselves off and walking back towards the others. This time, the monk just ignored Mary, preferring to hit on Usagi. When Inuyasha introduced everyone, the monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippo stared distrustingly at Sesshoumaru who just stared back.

 

When they arrived in the village, Mary and Rin were introduced, and they liked each other instantly, but when Mary and Jaken were introduced, she booted him through the roof when he made a rude comment about her. Kaede welcomed them back to the village, and they entered her house. Mary sat down and said “We need to split up.” Chaos greeted her statement, everyone began yelling until Kaede yelled “EVERYONE BE QUIET! Now Mary would you care to explain?” Mar nodded “We need to split up, it doesn't matter where Miroku, Shippo and Sango are, but Usagi and Inuyasha need to go hunt down Naraku, while Sesshoumaru and I go after the Shikon no Tama.” The aforementioned useless trio glared at Mary who noticed and said “Oh stop glaring you three, now that Usagi is here, you know you're useless. And all you'll do if you join Sesshoumaru and me is slow us down. Does everyone agree?” Usagi, Inuyasha, Rin, and Sesshoumaru nodded while Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Jaken shook their heads. Ignoring the lesser people in the room, Inuyasha, Usagi, Sesshoumaru, and Mary walked outside. Usagi transformed into Sailor Cosmos, and took off flying with Inuyasha running behind her. Mary made an unzipping motion and reached into the air beside her pulling out two helmets and handing them to Sesshoumaru. She walked behind him and bound his flowing hair into a ponytail and put the helmet on his head. She put the other helmet on her head, stepped forward, and disappeared into thin air. She reappeared a minute later riding an ATV, Sesshoumaru stared at the thing in front of him that was making such an awful noise. Mary flipped up the faceshield on her mask and turned. “Be glad I modified this thing to run off my senshi powers or it would stink too. Now get on and hold tight to me.” Mary flipped down the faceshield as Sesshoumaru got on behind her. Shifting into high, Mary peeled off in the direction that Sesshoumaru pointed out.

 

Inuyasha occasionally stopped and sniffed, searching out Naraku's castle. But he stopped short, smelling a new scent… “Kikyou.” He veered off the path, to where an unconscious Kikyou lay on the ground. He looked around, her scent was different… “Her soul collectors… they're gone.” He shook Kikyou softly until she woke up. “Inuyasha… I'm… I'm not a soul anymore, I'm real. Now that Kagome's gone, I am. She sealed away my body and collaborated with Naraku to change everyone's memories. All so she could steal you and my powers.” Inuyasha hugged Kikyou to his chest “Now that you're mine again, I wont let you go. Ever.” Picking her up, he headed back to the path where Cosmos stood waiting. He nodded at her and they took off running again.

 

Mary pulled over as they came upon the first of the 12 shards needed to finish the Shikon no Tama. A group of bandits sat by the side of the road gambling with handfuls of gold coins. Mary stopped and stared at the coins. “The blood…” She whispered and suddenly Sailor Nezumi was standing there. She walked up to the group of bandits and said “You have spilled the blood of many, and yet you show no remorse, you gamble the blood of the people wrongly murdered. I am the goddess of death, and as such I pass judgment on your lives.” Suddenly a pair of back wings sprouted out of her back, and she clasped a staff in her hands. “My judgment is thus… for spilling the blood of innocents, I damn you to Yomi-tsu-kuni. May your souls be condemned for all eternity.” (A.N. Yomi-tsu-kuni is the Japanese hell. I modified and combined legends a little. Nezumi judges all souls not just female.) She launched herself into the air and cried “Nezumi Eternal Damnation!” As her staff slashed downward, a minor Oni (A.N. Oni is Japanese for demon.) appeared out of a fiery rift in the air and carried the bandits off to Yomi-tsu-kuni. Nezumi floated down to the ground and detransformed in a flash of light. Mary collapsed to the ground with tears in her eyes. “The one thing I swore to never do again, and yet now it is my duty to do so. But I don't want to, I don't want to ever have to kill again. Sesshoumaru, why do I always have to kill people? Does Fate hate me that much?” Sesshoumaru walked over to Mary and got down beside her. “Mary, people have to do things in their lives that they don't want to. I have had to kill, and even though they were demons I still had to live with the fact that I had killed. Every time blood was spilled by my hands, I regretted it, I cursed Fate but in the end it was still my choice and I have to live with that. At least you had no choice, at least it wasn't your fault. No matter whether or not you are proud of it, Fate has chosen you, and it is your duty to do so.” Mary sighed “You speak truthfully, and even though I may regret it I will carry out my duty. Arigatou Sesshoumaru.” Mary kissed him on the forehead as she stood up, a few shards of the Shikon no Tama clutched in her hand. She placed them in her pocket and got back on the ATV and drove off again.

 

Inuyasha stopped running when he felt Kikyou stirring on his back. He placed her on the ground and motioned Cosmos down. Cosmos knelt down beside Kikyou and dribbled some water down her throat. Deciding that there was more than likely more water nearby, Cosmos upended the entire bottle over Kikyou's face. Kikyou shot up like a bat out of hell and looked around as Usagi giggled. “Kikyou, I'd like you to meet my sorta half-sister Usagi, or right now technically Sailor Cosmos. She is Sesshoumaru's sister, and even though he's not really my brother, he sorta is…” He stopped when he saw the confused look on Kikyou's face. Usagi sighed. “My turn.” And she proceeded to explain the entire story to Kikyou.

 

“Two down and ten to go.” Mary whispered as she stopped the ATV again. A teen-aged girl and an old grandpa sat by the side of the road, drinking tea. Mary transformed with a brief flash of light, and walked over to the old man. She smiled as she reached him “Ojii-sama, are you ready for your judgment?” When the old man nodded she placed her staff on his forehead and smiled “Your life has been filled with pain and sacrifice, and yet you are still a kind loving person. I hereby pass my judgment, thou are worthy of Takamagahara.” (A.N. Takamagahara is the `High Plains of Heaven'.) Slowly the old man's body dissolved into motes of white light and floated upwards. The girl bowed as Nezumi turned away with the shards clutched in her hand. Once they were far enough away, Nezumi detransformed and drove off.

 

Once Kikyou understood Cosmos' story, they left, once more heading for Naraku's castle. They came across various weak demons, which Inuyasha easily defeated. They finally arrived at the outskirts of Naraku's castle only to be met by Kagura. Kikyou and Cosmos stood off to the side while Inuyasha battled Kagura. When a deflected wind scar almost hit them, Cosmos decided it was time to act. Once Inuyasha had distracted her, Cosmos launched herself into the air and yelled “Cosmos Silver Rebirth!” The silver light washed over Kagura, and she paused “I'm…Free?” she whispered softly looking up at Cosmos. As soon as Cosmos nodded, Kagura jumped on her giant feather and flew off into the sun, calling out behind her. “Thank you!” Once she was no more than a shadow against the sun, Inuyasha, Cosmos, and Kikyou continued onwards.

 

 

I swear it, at the beginning of my story I had every intention of pairing up Inuyasha and Usagi, but my mind tells my fingers what to write and my opinion has nothing to do with it. I really hate Jaken, I think he is an idiot, and same with Miroku. I based Nezumi's powers on that of Emma-ho and his sister who judge the souls of the dead in Shintoism. Also, because of her past Mary really hates death and blood.
