Yusuke was pissed. Not only had Koenma interrupted his date with Kieko but he had sent them on some lame-arse mission to collect a stupid girl with holy powers! So here he was walking to some god forsaken shrine, with the cat obsessed idiot, the most definitely gay kitsune avatar, and a homicidal fire demon, could his day get worse?

 

The answer to that was a resounding yes, but he didn't know it yet.

 

He continued walking to the godforsaken shrine. Silently cursing his luck to have to visit a shrine. He hated shrines; they brought back the memories of all his screw ups. The only shrine that he didn't include in the hate grouping was Genki's.

 

While he was walking he thought back to the family that he left behind. The woman that he lived with now wasn't his actual mother, his real family lived in a shrine somewhere near here but he couldn't remember where exactly after all it had been six years since he had lived there, he had moved out two years before he died the first time.

 

He thought about his twin sister, Kagome, his little brother Souta, his mum and his grandpa. He smiled slightly at the memories of his family and the good times they had.

 

Yusuke bitterly resented the fact that he had left them to move in with his father and his wife, especially since his dad died the following year. He remembered his mother's tears when he told her that he was going back to his father's last name. He had been too proud to go home, so he stayed with his drunken step-mum. He had never regretted it more that now.

 

His head snapped up when he suddenly felt a large amount of youki at the shrine just ahead, he started to run his friends just behind him, he made it up the shrine steps quickly and his jaw dropped at what he saw.

 

A girl his age was fighting a large group of youkai and judging by the number of bodies around her she was winning. He and the others just watched in shock as she slashed and thrust her katana at and into the demons around her, her long midnight black hair flying around as spun and fought. Finally it was just one demon and the girl left, the demon spoke to her.

“Give me the Jewel Shards wench and I'll make your death quick!” what she did next shocked the spirit detectives, she laughed.

“Oh please! Like you could kill me! Lord Sesshomonau himself taught me! And will you demons please come up with a different sentence! `Give me the Jewel wench!' is just so old!” she taunted, her bright blue eyes twinkling. The demon let out a roar and lunged at her, she sidestepped and suddenly her blade glowed blue, she stabbed the demon in the stomach, he disintegrated as soon as the blade touched him.

 

She then surveyed the bodies and after counting them she let loose a wave of blue power reducing the bodies to ash. She looked at the four boys that were standing at the shrine steps staring at her and walked over to them, her first words were.

“Well since you haven't attacked yet, what do you want?” Kurama was the first to speak.

“Well we were sent here to bring you to the spirit world, our boss, Prince Koenma wants to speak with you. Could you tell us your name please?” he asked politely. She looked at him suspiciously but answered anyway.

 

Her answer really destroying Yusuke's day.

 

“Kagome Higurashi, and you four?” Yusuke buried his face in his hands and shook his head while swearing under his breath. They all looked at him strangely.

“I'm Kurama; this is Hiei, Kuwabara and Yusuke.” Kagome snapped her head towards Yusuke and said slowly.

“I see, and what would Yusuke's last name be?” looking from her to Yusuke, Kurama answered some what hesitantly.

“Urameshi …” Yusuke's muttering had gotten louder now and they could all hear it.

“So fucking dead. So, so fucking dead! My day couldn't get worse! It just couldn't get any worse!” Kagome was now standing in front of the spirit detective glaring at the cowering boy. The spirit detectives were amazed not even Kieko scared Yusuke like this.

 

“Hello Yusuke, its been a long time.” She said sweetly, he looked up hesitantly.

“H-hi Kagome,” he stuttered quite obviously afraid of the girl standing in front of him. She smiled sweetly then slapped him so hard that the spirit detective stumbled back. He raised his hands up in surrender.

“Ok I deserved that; now calm down `Gome. No need to kill me!” he said as he backed away from the girl. He looked scared and that worried the others, nothing scared Yusuke!

“Need? No. Want? Yes.” She said stalking him “Besides killing you will do wonders for my stress levels!” Just then the power of the well flared up stopping her dead. Looking at Yusuke she said. “I'll get you later!” she turned to the well house just as the door flung open and a tall inu hanyou strode out.

 

Looking around his gaze settled on Kagome. Striding forward until he stood in front of Kagome, he stood there glaring.

“Hey wench I told you that you couldn't go home! We have Jewel shards to collect bitch! And what the hell are these four doing here?” the boys started forward at his words, but stopped when they heard hers.

“SIT!!! I told you I have a test tomorrow! I have to study! And I also told you that I would SIT you to hell and back! Two days! All I want is two days! And go to hell, it's my choice to hang out with whoever I want! You don't own me!” Kagome yelled at him. The dog demon stood slowly, glaring at the girl before him he shouted back.

“Bitch! I said no! You're the one who broke the damn thing so come back and fix it!”

“And you're the one who wants to become a full demon by wishing on it! So wait a couple of days! If it wasn't for me you'd still be pinned to that damned tree!”

“That's beside the point! If it weren't for me you'd be dead!”

“If it weren't for you and your dead girlfriend I would have all of my soul!” she screamed. This focused their attention on her. She didn't have all her soul? How the hell did that happen?!

“Don't bring her into this! She's ten times better than you anyway! You're just a cheap copy, a weaker version of the original!”

“SIT!!! Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, And SIT!!! Go away InuYasha! I'll be back in two days! I swear to god if you don't leave now I won't bring any raman back and you can do the cooking!” looking into the crater that the hanyou was situated in she spoke fiercely to him. “And don't even think that you can hit Shippo when I'm not there! Do you understand?” she saw him nod weakly “Good,” she turned and marched into the house leaving the four boys to stare after her then turned to InuYasha who was just climbing out of the crater that he had created. Muttering about stupid psychotic PMSy bitches, he walked into the well house, the magic flared and he was gone.

 

They looked back to the house and followed Yusuke in. He led them into the kitchen to where Kagome was sitting with her head in her hands. Without looking up she spoke.

“Go away, I have to study.” She muttered, they then hearing the door opening again and her family's voices, her head snapped up and she looked at Yusuke. “Yusuke, choose, either stay for good or leave before mum sees you. Make it permanent Yusuke, she can't take that again!” Their eyes widened at her words, who was this girl? And what did she mean by that? They looked at Yusuke who looked like he made up his mind about something.

“Stay,” he said quietly, Kagome nodded.

“Good, cause I really would have killed you if you had gone.” She smiled at him and he smiled back uncertainly. She then looked at Hiei suddenly. “Look fire bug, if you want an answer to something, ask! You can't get past my barriers, so don't try.”

 

Her family walked into the kitchen and started when they saw Kagome and the others, Mrs. Higurashi looked them all over before settling on Yusuke, her eyes widened and she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, what shocked to boys was that Yusuke hugged her back just as hard.

“Hey mum,” he said quietly. Kuwabara tactful as always spoke.

“Urameshi, what the hell is going on?!” he said loudly, scratching his head.
