The family turned to Kuwabara and stared at him. Yusuke blushed and scratched his head sheepishly.

“Ah, guys? This is my real family, my mum, grandpa, Souta and my twin Kagome.”

“So you just forgot to mention that you had a completely different family to what we knew?” Kurama said quietly. Kagome smirked quietly at her twin's discomfort.

“Dude you know how many enemies we have! If no one knew about them then no one could hurt them!” Yusuke protested, at this Kagome glared at him again.

“So you telling me that for six years you avoided us, so that we would be safe? God you're a jackass!” she said. “And want to tell me how the hell you're a demon?” the boys looked at her stunned. Her mother looked from her to Yusuke.

“My son's a demon? What kind? Can I see your demon form?” she said eagerly smiling. Yusuke looked like you could bowl him over with a feather; how the hell did his normal mother know about demons?! He was saved from answering by the door bell ringing. His mother went and answered it. It was Hojo.

 

“Oh hello Hojo, it's nice to see you again. You're lucky Kagome just got back from the health retreat.” She said showing him in, and leading him into the kitchen where everyone was.

“Thanks Mrs Higurashi,” he smiled. Kagome stiffened when she saw Hojo but covered it well. Only Hiei and Kurama noticed how uncomfortable she was, both filing it away for future use.

“Hi Kagome! You're looking much better, that health retreat must be working well,”

“Thanks Hojo, how have you been?”

“Very good thanks, I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies tonight?”

“Um, thankyou for the offer but we're having a - family get together tonight and I have to study for my biology test tomorrow.” He looked disappointed.

“That's ok Kagome, next time?”

“Um ok, next time,”

“See you tomorrow Kagome,” Hojo said stepping forward and hugging her. Kagome looked uncomfortable but hugged him back. He smiled at her and left, as soon as he was gone Kagome banged her head on the table top, and then glared at her mother.

“Mum! Stop encouraging him!” she yelled. “I don't like him!”

“Well get a boyfriend then.” She said calmly. “I want grand babies one day.”

“I don't want a boyfriend, how the hell would I explain the weeks that I disappear for? Besides they're all stupid. And I'm only eighteen!” She sighed, Yusuke couldn't help it he burst out laughing and couldn't stop. Kagome glared at him while the others just stared.

“What the hell is so funny?!”

“He's still trying to get a date from you! He started that when we were twelve!” he started laughing again. The others smirked at that with Kagome still glaring at her twin. Looking between the two their mother decided to save Yusuke some humiliation.

“So,” she started. “What kind of demon are you?” he stopped laughing.

“Um, I'm a Mazu (sp?) demon.” He turned to Kagome. “How the hell do you know about demons? And where the hell did you learn to fight like that?”

“I'm the shrine priestess, and where I learnt to fight has nothing to do with you. So where is this Koenma person?” this brought them back to the present and their mission. Kurama spoke into a communicator.

“Botan come pick us up.” He looked at Kagome. “Don't be scared,” just then Botan appeared, she looked at Kagome and bowed. Kagome sighed exasperated.

“Lady Death, will you please not bow?!”

“Well Lady Kagome, high priestess and guardian of the Shinkion-no-tama, I would but you see I just love pissing you off my honoured Lady!” she smiled.

“God I hate you some times Botan! So how's the ferrying going? How have you been?” she asked the cheerful grim reaper, while hugging her.

“You love me. It's good, I meet the most interesting people, and I've been great, I actually get to hang around these guys, they're not like the puppets the spirit detectives were five hundred years ago.”

“Thank the gods for that! They were so stupid!” Kagome laughed. “So my brother is a spirit detective? Cool.” Kuwabara spoke again but for once it was a decent question.

“Ok, what the hell?! How do you know Botan?” Kagome looked at Botan, then back at the boys that were staring at them, even Hiei was stunned.

“Long story. So we going to see your boss?” Botan nodded and created a portal to Reikai.

“Back soon mum!” Kagome said as she stepped through the portal with no hesitation, trusting the grim reaper completely. The others exchanged glances this was unexpected; obviously she had been through a portal before. Yusuke gave his mother another hug then left through the portal after everyone else, he found himself in the familiar office of the baby sized prince of Reikai, the prince in question was sitting behind an overly large desk with tall stacks of paper sitting on it. But for once he was in his teenage form, Yusuke blinked, since when did the brat change into this form for unimportant humans? He smirked obviously his sister was more important than he thought.

 

“So Toddler, why the hell did you want my sister anyway?” he said calm for once.

“Don't call me Toddler Yusuke!” he yelled angry for Yusuke to insult him in front Kagome. “And its - wait - sister? You're her brother?!” Kagome got fed up with waiting and waved a hand in front of Koenma's horrified face.

“Hello? Still hear you know. So at the risk of sounding like the dumb arse there,” she jerked a thumb in Yusukes direction. “Why did you want to see me?” she asked as she pointedly ignored her brother's protests that he wasn't a dumb arse.

“Um, yeah… ok, well the thing is that once you finish your duty in the past I um - iwantyoutoleadateamofspiritdetectivesandgoonmissionsformetosavetheworldfrom evildemons!” he said really quickly. (an - I want you to lead a team of spirit detectives and go on missions for me to save the world from evil demons!) Kagome blinked.

“Um, yeah ok sounds fun. Who do I get?” the boys just stood there, their mouths open and eyes bugging out. How the hell could she want to do this?!

“Well we don't know yet. It all depends on who survives the fight against Naraku. So it's really unknown as of yet.”

“You do realise that we don't expect to live through that, don't you? So any tips or hints would be great.”

“You know we can't do that, for the same reason you won't check your history books.” The boys looked between Koenma and Kagome, what the hell was going on?!

“Yeah, yeah. I know. And let me guess you want me to back today?” she sighed. Koenma rubbed his head sheepishly and nodded. Yusuke had enough.

 

“What the fuck is going on here?! You want my sister to lead a team of spirit detectives; you want her to go where? She expects to die, what the fuck is happening?!!!” He yelled. Kagome sighed, god brothers were annoying!

“Look you jerk shut up! You left six years ago; you lost any right you had to interfere in my life then! But to answer your question I travel to the past, I shattered the shinkion-no-tama and have gathered roughly half of it; the rest is in the possession of a hanyou call Naraku who wants the jewel so he can rule the world, my incarnation who is made of grave dirt and bones stole part of my soul and keeps trying to kill me, we don't know what side she's on so we put up with her, a single shard increases a demons power by ten and Naraku has about fifty so do the math, of course I don't expect to live through it you baka!” she yelled at him as he backed away. Wow… was all the boys could think, Yusuke's sister was scary!

 

Kurama decided to try and calm the situation down by offing to help.

“Why don't we tag along with you? That way Yusuke won't be an idiot and you get more help for the fight with Naraku, does that sound ok?” he said soothingly. Koenma looked relieved that he didn't have to ask his team, who knows how they would react! Kagome smiled slightly as far as she was concerned any help was welcome! Yusuke was happy that he got to keep an eye on his sister but still annoyed that she was going at all. Koenma looked at Kagome who nodded at him.

“Right,” he smiled “You four go with her.” He looked at Botan. “Did you want to go? I can spare you for a couple of weeks if you want,” She looked ecstatic and nodded vigorously. Kagome laughed at her friend's antics. She turned to Koenma.

“See you soon,” she smiled “Come on Botan, Dickhead and Dickhead's friends, pack for a couple of weeks and meet me at the shrine in thirty minutes or I'll leave without you.”
