Commitments Made In Blood

Chapter 37

 

 

 

Once they had entered the building, he stood there in awe of the sight that encircled him. He had thought the amount of people on the outside had been bad, it was nothing compared to what he was currently seeing. And they smell of so many humans in one area was overwhelming to say the least. Strange sights and even stranger smells surrounded them.

 

 

“What is this place?”

 

 

“This is what the humans call a shopping mall.”

 

 

“What purpose does it serve?”

 

 

“This is where humans buy their supplies. They can pretty much find anything they desire here for purchase. It's also a common meeting place for their young.”

 

 

“The sight of so many humans in one area is disturbing.”

 

 

Kagura didn't reply to this, the only answer she could come up with was it was his brilliant idea for him to jump ahead in time. He could deal with the repercussions of such a thing. If the sight and smell of so many humans in one area bothered him so much he could just go on back to the past.

 

 

Naraku stood and watched the people wander by. Most seemed to walk around with no purpose. Who was the lax leader of these people who allowed such wasteful behavior? If this was any indication of how this era was run then he would have no trouble overthrowing such a pathetic excuse for a ruler. He appraised on young woman who was dressed fairly conservatively. She had a fairly intelligent look to her. She would be the one he would approach.

 

 

“I'd like a moment of your time Miss.”

 

 

Naraku hated being polite to these creatures but he would do as he had to for now to get the information he required. If however, she proved to be uncooperative then he would take more drastic measures. At the moment he could afford to be charming.

 

 

The young woman in question stopped, rather surprised at the appearance of the man who detained her. She thought it rather strange with the manner in which he was dressed but perhaps he had just come from some sort of party or reenactment.

 

 

“Okay.”

 

 

“Who is the Lord of this establishment?”

 

 

The young woman looked at him blankly. Lord? What the hell is he talking about she wondered? Perhaps he meant the manager. Strange though she had never heard of a manager being referred to as a Lord before. She couldn't help the giggle that escaped.

 

 

“You mean the manager?”

 

 

“Manager? No, Whoever rules over you and everyone else here.”

 

 

Kagura was having difficulties maintaining a straight face under his questioning. He was looking like a complete ass and he didn't even realize it. She certainly was not going to be the one to point it out to him.

 

 

“Look Sir, I think you may be confused. No one rules my life but myself. If your wanting the manager of this establishment there is a customer service booth down to your left. Now if you don't mind, I have other things I need to do.”

 

 

The young woman started to walk away which only added to Naraku's displeasure. She had the audacity to turn her back on him and walk away? That combined with the way she had in his mind blatantly refused to answer his question was completely unacceptable. He reached out and grabbed her arm in a firm grip and turned her back towards him.

 

 

“I wasn't finished speaking to you.”

 

 

“Look I don't know who in the hell you think you are Mister but you have two seconds to let go of me.”

 

 

Kagura looked around nervously. People were beginning to stare at them more than they had been previously. It wasn't wise to bring attention to themselves and Naraku was fixing to make a very large scene. They had to move on, hopefully this would not escalate any further. The last thing they needed was Naraku to use any of his energy and alert the Reikai to their presence.

 

 

“Naraku not here.”

 

 

“Silence Kagura, this human will give me the answers I desire or she will die.”

 

 

The young woman's eyes widened momentarily when he said that before they narrowed dangerously. After all, he couldn't possibly be serious could he? They were in a public place and he wouldn't dare attack her. She tried to yank her arm away from him as she hissed “Let me go.”

 

 

As the crowd gathered around them, people had heard the threat that Naraku had made and were already calling the police on their cell phones. Kagura lowered her head to Naraku's ear praying to whatever gods that were watching that he would either listen to her or that when the police arrived they could kill him.

 

 

“We need to go now, this is not a fight you can win.”

 

 

“Are you insinuating that a mere human is enough to defeat me Kagura?”

 

 

“The authorities have been called, we need to leave.”

 

The woman continued to struggle as mall security pushed through the crowd to attempt to find out what the problem is. Relief flashed through her face when she saw the unformed men coming to her aid.

 

 

“What seems to be the problem here?”

 

 

“This psycho won't let me go.”

 

 

“Release her Sir.”

 

 

“And who are you to tell me what to do?”

 

 

Kagura had seen enough, she didn't want to be involved in any of this. She heard the sirens rapidly approaching. It was about to get dangerous in here and she was not testing to see if she was bullet proof. Quietly she disappeared in the crowd and made her way out of the building, being careful not to be seen by the police who were making their way inside. Judging by the amount of cars that were gathering around they were considering it a hostage situation.

 

 

Sure enough she watched from the sanctuary of a tree nearby as crowds of people quickly evacuated the building. Naraku would be lucky if he made it out of there alive she thought. Slowly though the people eventually stopped coming out and she could only assume that the mall was now virtually empty.

Koenma regarded the two of them before him coldly. Never in all of his years did he think he would be having this meeting with Kurama. Hiei maybe, given his intense dislike of humans. But Kurama was another story entirely. He had been hoping he wouldn't have to get involved in his affairs any more than necessary but if Youko was going to go around slicing up anyone of the male persuasion who approached Kagome then he would be forced to. He really did not enjoy the thought of having to forcibly separate the two of them. In all reality he wasn't sure if he would even be able to, not permanently anyway.

 

 

“You will explain to me now just what in the hell that was about.”

 

 

Kurama looked at Koenma calmly although he wasn't sure what to say to him. Obviously he had been watching so he knew what had happened. He wasn't about to outright admit to him that he couldn't control Youko when it came to Kagome.

 

 

“Well?”

 

 

“It was a disagreement.”

 

 

Koenma looked at Kurama like he had gone insane. If that was a disagreement he would hate to think of what he considered a serious situation. The body count would be staggering in that case. As it was he was now going to have to monitor the boy to make sure that the memories had been properly erased. Hiei was good at what he did, they had to be sure though.

 

 

“A disagreement?”

 

 

“Yes Sir. A disagreement. With the current situation concerning Naraku and everything else Youko is considerably on edge with anything pertaining Kagome. It's expected for him to be protective of her.”

 

 

“Kurama you of all people should know better. It's up to you to keep him under control. Now what happened?”

 

 

Kurama fought to keep from sighing. Koenma was not going to let this go. They were going to be lucky if he didn't order him to stay away from her. Not that they would listen unless Koenma sent them or her off somewhere and even then they would fight to find her. Koenma must have sensed his reluctance to speak though.

 

 

“You lost control of him didn't you.”

 

 

It was more of a statement then a question. Koenma was nobody's fool and there was no squirming out of this one. They were going to have to suck it up and admit it.

 

 

“I did, I almost had him contained but then he touched her and started taking her away as I am sure you saw.”

 

 

“Have you completed the bond?”

 

 

Kurama couldn't believe the Demigod just inquired into their sex life. Especially since he should know that answer already seeing as there was always an intense flare of energy whenever the bonding was completed. It was something that he was certain would register on their meters when it happened.

 

 

“No, you would have been informed if we had.”

 

 

“I see. And until that bond is completed he is going to be over protective of her to an extreme. When do you anticipate consummating the relationship and finishing the bond?”

 

 

Hiei listened with interest. Kurama was always so organized about everything he had frequently wondered if he planned out his sex life as well. Somehow it wouldn't surprise him in the least.

 

 

Kurama cast a glare at him, fairly certain at what it was the fire apparition was thinking at the moment. The gleam in his eyes were just too strong regardless of how bored his expression made him seem. He had always thought that Hiei was likely to be as perverted as Youko was even if he didn't show outward signs of it.

 

 

`You've heard the rumors in the Makai, you know he is. Quite feisty and aggressive from everything I've heard.'

`Only out of curiosity Hiei, I'm not interested in you.'

 

 

`I'm surprised Youko, you've commented on other males before. Don't get me wrong, I'm rather glad I don't have to watch the fantasies you would play out in my head over him.'

 

 

They could feel the amusement coming from Hiei through the mind link before he sent them a mental image of his own on what he would do to the silver haired kitsune if they had gotten involved in a relationship. Kurama quirked a brow over at the fire apparition in amusement when they felt the startled reaction of the kitsune.

 

 

`Be serious you two, we still have problems to deal with.'

 

 

~Indeed, Koenma is still waiting on your answer.~

 

 

Koenma was of course switching his gaze between the two knowing there was some sort of conversation going on that he was not privy to. As much as he wanted to know what they were discussing he knew by the looks passing between them that perhaps it was best if he didn't know. It was rather irritating though that they weren't taking this meeting seriously.

 

 

“Do you intend on answering me anytime soon?”

 

 

“Kagome isn't ready for a physical relationship yet Koenma, the loss of Inuyasha is still too fresh in her mind. Neither myself nor Youko will attempt to complete the bond until she is ready.”

 

 

This posed a problem since it was a large reason for Youko's over active instincts. They wouldn't begin to calm down until the bond was completed. He would see every other male as someone who would attempt to take her away and the human had just reinforced what his instincts had been insisting. It was an explanation if nothing else, and being as that was what prompted it he couldn't punish the kitsune per say.

 

 

“In that case I have few options to me. I leave it to you to decide which you want to do. The first is to consummate the relationship but as you already said she isn't ready. The second is to separate the both of you from everyone else until she is ready to prevent another incident where Youko attacks someone. The last option I have is to seal Youko inside you until she is ready.”

 

 

Neither Kurama nor Youko were pleased with any of the options he gave to them. The best would be if they were isolated somewhere but then they couldn't assist in the final battle when Naraku made his appearance. They were also certain that Kagome would miss her family while they were gone for who knows how long.

 

 

Hiei stepped forward giving Koenma a measuring look. There was one other alternative though considering what had happened already he did not know if the Demigod would accept his solution.

 

 

“There is another option.”

 

 

That got both Kurama and Koenma's attention as they waited for him to continue. Koenma was quite interested in what he had to say. It wasn't often that Hiei made suggestions and whenever he did they were usually quite good ones.

 

 

“If I see Youko losing control I can always lock him down temporarily with my Jagan.”

 

 

Kurama considered what Hiei proposed. He knew that if Youko was already out that it was unlikely that Hiei could control him but he wasn't about to tell Koenma that. However if he were still the dominant one then Hiei's added strength would help him keep a grip on the kitsune and prevent a repeat occurance of the days events.

 

 

“Too risky Hiei, what if you aren't with him?”

 

“Koenma, Hiei is staying at the shrine with the rest of us. We've pretty much taken over her mother's home. Any time we go out anywhere he's with us. It's an ideal solution.”

 

 

“I can guarantee we won't have a repeat of today.”

 

 

Koenma looked hard at Hiei before reluctantly nodding his agreement to the proposal. If something were to go wrong then Hiei would assume full responsibility for what had happened.

 

 

`You had better not make a liar out of me Fox.'

Kura-kun's-lovr: I got quite angry unfortunately. I had to rewrite that Author's note three times to tone it down. Kuronosuke helped me work out my extra aggression though bless his heart. Among other things ;-) I imagine that when the lemon finally happens between these two it is likely to be instigated in heat of a fight the way these two are going lol You're quite welcome for the reviews, we are anxiously awaiting future chapters. We were discussing dates as well as arrangements. He mentioned he's probably going to have to pull off some jobs in order to pay for all of this. When he said anything my heart desired I guess he was quite serious lol Oh and never fear, Botan won't get within 30 feet of him so he is safe. Seishini'jousha: Hope you feel better, now lets just hope I don't catch anything otherwise Kuronosuke might catch it and I can't have that. There might be some lime content when that confrontation happens. A little adrenaline to heat their bodies and away they go. We'll see what happens. Hiei and Kuronue could be interesting but it's not likely to happen in this fic. If I get the courage up to write another story with just specifically for them if I could get their personalities to agree somehow. It's something to consider anyway. I'll try to add a lemon in the next few chapters though it will probably be Yusuke/Keiko. Kurama and Kag have a few things to work out first lol There are so many scenarios I can see for the first encounter when Youko finally gets hold of her. Lucky girl.

 

 

Whirleeq: Thank you! You've hit the nail on the head for what I have been attempting to do with Kagome's mind set. It does add quite a bit to the tension, though when it is all said and done I think she is going to be quite thankful for the over protective instincts he has towards her. I've finally started moving it more towards when Naraku really pushes for her.

 

 

Kogas Hentai Luver: You and me both, I think this was a good wake up call for her. The talk between the three of them will hopefully help her pull her act together although old habits sometimes die hard. Sango should have spent more time talking to her about demonic behavior while she was in the past. Now she's has to muddle through it the best she can. I feel the worst for Youko. He picked her though and now he's got to deal with her. I'll make it up to him before the story is over though ;-) I must say thank you for your kind words, I greatly enjoy your stories as well. In fact it was your story The Seduction of Urameshi Yusuke that got me hooked on M/M fanfics :-D I need to get a printer set up so I can start doing the same thing. Especially helpful if the power goes out on me like it has been the past two days 0.0

Rabid: That rant was edited three times. I had to take out the exceptionally evil parts. Like one sentence made reference to me gutting Hojo and hanging him from a chandelier by his intestines if I damned well pleased lol. I didn't know how well that would go over O.O Kuronosuke calmed me considerably and took my mind off of my irritation. To be honest, I couldn't think of anything when he was finished lol That fic is probably one of my favorites for Kur/Keiko pairings. A pairing I usually don't read since I more look for the crossovers. I prefer to look at it as being highly enjoyable. Imagine the torture you could inflict on Kurama. To be sure, he'd enjoy it quite nicely but he'd never know when it was going to start up mwahaha. As for what is coming, you'll just have to wait till I can think of what I want to do. I needed Kurama and Hiei in Koenma's office(besides working on the relationship issues), hence the Hojo scene. Naraku is out in public and about to get in deep crap. Soon Yusuke and Kuwabara will be called and then we will more into the Kurama vs Yusuke issue. I still wish I knew how I was going to play that fight out *le sigh* As for Naraku's boy toy I was making reference to handing Hojo over to him but you bring in an interesting idea. I'll consider it :-D

tessie_fanfic: Here is another one, next one will probably be tomorrow afternoon unless I get adventurous tonight and write more. It's very true, the story flows how it wants to. In Circle of Souls it was EXTREMELY hard not to add Hiei into the Circle. I had to fight tooth and nail not to include him into it after I started his character development. Honestly whenever I work on that fic it is still hard for me not to do. Poor Hiei gets no lovin in that fic but I won't pair him up with anyone else in it simply because I've already written it as he loves Kagome even if he knows he cannot have her.
