Three sunrises have passed since the incident outside the Slayer's village… A streak of silver blurs through the night. After going on a few planned heists, the silver fox finally got some time to go see his fiery woman. The light from the moon seemed to intensify the silver color in Yoko's hair and tail. He stopped at the lake Sango went to a few days prior. `Beautiful Sango', just remembering her gave the fox chills. The area was empty, but the landscape had a soothing calm atmosphere. The faint smell of cherry blossoms played through his nostrils— Sango's intoxicating scent. She isn't here, but he couldn't let her go.
He followed her scent back to the road he originally sighted her on. The scent, however, led to the demon slayer village. `Odd… Why of all places? Surely she couldn't…?' Yoko thought. He then smiled a bit. `That would explain her bite.'
The wards Yomi spoke about previously were, in fact, covering the entire village. He touched the ward to test it. He analyzed it and concluded that is only repelled demon energy. Yoko laughed quietly to himself. Although he taught his bandits everything they knew, he didn't teach them everything he knew.
He transformed into his spirit fox form, masking his demon energy completely with his spirit energy. He figured a silver fox with four tails and red eyes was a bit too demonic looking, he disguised his looks as well. Now he appeared to be normal looking red fox. Most high class demons wouldn't even be able to see through this disguise.
Creeping through the barrier, Yoko looked around the small village. Many scents belonging to so many humans filled his senses—and a…neko youkai? `Odd.' Yoko thought as he crept along the small village with numerous well kept huts. A young couple sat out front of their hut quietly talking as he crept by, his mind focused solely on finding Sango.
The night of the village was strangely quiet and peaceful for people who made their living killing demons, Yoko shrugged it off. As he turned to examine a rather large shed the scent of cherry blossoms drifted into his nose. Yoko's tongue darted out and he licked his lips, much like a wolf that just found a juicy steak. He knew that scent, it was stamped into his memory. He couldn't forget. Moving quickly and sticking to the shadows, he spotted Sango. She was at ease, laughing and talking to a young boy with dark brown hair and eyes. Yoko bit his left paw until he drew blood and hopped awkwardly out of the shadows on three legs, wailing in apparent pain.
--- POV change----
The siblings looked up at the wailing fox with curiosity as it hopped out of a shadowy spot. Sango got up and slowly walked over to the little creature so that she wouldn't startle it.
“Oh, you hurt your paw? Let me see it.” Sango sank down to her knees and extending an open hand, palm up. The small fox hesitantly sniffed her, and then nipped her exposed finger. The young demon slayer yelped in surprise as she reared back. `Of course, the animal didn't trust me'. To her utter surprise, though, the fox jumped into her lap. Its head rubbed her chest, yipping happily. “Well, aren't you an affection one.” Sango slowly stood, carrying the small creature in her arms. She turned to her younger brother. “Kohaku, get me some bandages, water, and some ointment.” He nodded, and then quickly went to fetch her what she requested. Sango looked down at the animal. Its paw was covered in blood. “You poor thing…” she murmured. “I wonder what happened to you.”
She tilted her head to the side, pondering the injury. How could this little one make it all the way to the village in its current condition? Also, this wound appeared to be fresh. Her brown eyes narrowed slightly in thought. A paw touched her cheek, followed by a scratchy tongue gliding up her jaw. Sango chuckled. “You really are an affectionate little guy, huh?”
“I have it, big sister! I even got a cloth, which you forgot to ask for!” Kohaku returned, baring the said items.
“Thanks, Kohaku,” Sango replied, sitting down on the wooden deck. She affectionately ruffled her brother's hair. The boy flushed, showing a frown. The girl only grinned. He disliked her displays of love toward him. Focusing on the matter at hand, Sango gently set the fox beside her. The fox almost seemed to protest. “Don't worry,” she told him. “I'm only going to clean your injury.” The demon slayer dipped the blue cloth into the wooden bucket of water before lightly touching the source of the bleeding. Surprisingly, the fox did not flinch. It only stared up at her as if waiting. Sango shook her head, knowing the idea was ridiculous.
“Let's name it Momo!” Kohaku broke the silence. Sango laughed softly.
“It's a boy,” she stated.
“So…?”
Sango laughed again as she applied the ointment with her index finger. “I don't think he'll appreciate a girl's name, Kohaku,” she answered. The fox seemed to nod in agreement.
“Um… How about Rakki?” Kohaku yelled in excitement, “You know since he is very lucky to have found you at a time like this.”
`My dear Sango you don't know how much this boy is correct.', Yoko thought.
“Rakki…that's perfect!” exclaimed Sango as she continued to rub ointment on the little fox's wound. It was sort of distracting however because `Rakki' kept licking her arms while she was trying to work. Sango finished applying the ointment. She then bandaged it's paw.
“There, all better,” Sango cooed as Rakki pounced on her and gave her a tongue bath. After awhile of squirming and laughing, Sango grabbed him and petted him affectionately.
“You are going to be a lot of trouble, aren't you, little guy?” Sango teased, making Rakki give her a foxy grin. His attention became divided when he smelled the neko youkai, who voiced her annoyance of the fox intruder with a mew.
“Now, now, Kirara, be nice,” Sango said, sitting Rakki down. The fox whined in the process. Kirara only snorted at the fox's actions. This had to be some sort of trick. Kirara cautiously stalked towards the home wrecker and sniffed him a few times. Rakki, deciding to be a brat, licked Kirara across the face. The demon feline jumped back in dismay, much to Kohaku's entertainment. Disgusted and clearly agitated, Kirara wiped her face vigorously with her paw while growling. Rakki dropped his ears and gave puppy dog eyes. His gaze was directed at Sango. He whined because Kirara `hurt his feelings.'
“Oh, Kirara, don't be that way! He was only being nice,” Sango scolded lightly as she grabbed the fox and began to cuddle his soft fur which caused him to make a weird purring noise. Kirara growled at the fox and his pathetic games. Something just was not right about him.
“Hey, sis, does he need a bath?” Kohaku asked.
“He doesn't stink, but that would be a good idea,” Sango said as Rakki tilted his head to the side.
`This is definitely going to be fun,' thought Yoko with his foxy grin in place. Sango stood with Rakki in her arms and began to walk into her hut to grab the necessary items for his bath when a woman's voice shrieked throughout the village.
“PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP US!” cried the unseen woman causing demon slayers from all over the village including Sango and Kohaku to run and investigate. The woman was found near the village entrance covered in wounds and blood barely standing. Sango couldn't make out her age because of it.
“What happened?” asked Sango approaching the woman.
“Our village south from here, demons…ambush…help,” said the woman weakly before she fainted.
“Kohaku, go get father!” Sango ordered failing to realize that the fox slipped out of her arms and was sniffing the unconscious girl. Rakki growled and ran off with unnatural speed and boiling anger.
`Damn it Yomi, I leave for one second and you ruin everything…'
