He had to get to Yomi before the demon slayers decided that they would step in. Shifting from `Rakki' to his humanoid form Yoko sped down the road with every intention of finding Yomi. To human eyes he would be nothing more than a blur of silver.

Thoughts swirled through his head as he thought about the previous events. `Damnit! Why had Yomi decided to wreck havoc on a human village? This incident will bring attention to our band. We purposely avoid human villages because they are vile creatures and they have the tendency to make such stys of the areas in which they live. Wait…then why am I so infatuated with Sango? Why in the hell did I plan a raid on the demon slayer village three days ago? Did some unknown force lead me there? Why did he have such feelings towards a human no less? Was it her strong spirit, the way the moon reflected the pale perfection of her skin, her warm brown eyes…damn not at a moment like this! I have to get to the band before the slayers mobilize.

Yoko pondered what reasons Yomi may have had to attack a human village. `Why had he deliberately gone against him? What point was he trying to prove? Where was Kuronue, his second in command. What exactly happened while I was gone? Had Yomi always planned on defying him as soon as he had the opportunity? Why a human village though?' As these thoughts plagued his mind a scent much like an untamed forest found his nose as none other than his second in command fell in step beside him.

“Would you mind explaining to me why Yomi has gone out on a heist without permission?”

“I was out hunting for food. Upon my return I came to find he and two others were gone so I went looking for you,” Kuronue responded. After a while the dirt road ended and the two went through the forest jumping through trees, dogi. Extending his senses Yoko locked onto Yomi's ki. Forget the damned village he wanted Yomi. His ki led east of the village that was recently attacked so Yoko changed course.

Yomi was on the move no doubt about it. Even though Yomi was third in command he wasn't nearly as fast as he or Kuronue. Truthfully Kuronue was the only demon that he knew of that could match his speed. Judging from the direction that Yomi was headed Yoko concluded that Yomi was heading back to the hideout.

“He is going back to the hideout. Intercede him from the north and I will take the south,” with that being said Yoko headed northeast through the forest.

SANGO'S POV

“Kirara!” I yelled as my white feline with black paws and two black stripped fur became engulfed in flames changing into her large form. I climbed on her back and we took to the sky, the green of the forest passing under us. `How dare demons attack a village so close to here! My father sent me to take care of the mess seeing as it was only three demons. Kirara and I are more than capable of handling them.'

I looked down to ensure that my black demon slayer outfit was on properly, seeing as I had to rush to put it on. I touched my each elbow and knee to make sure I hadn't forgotten my pink elbow and knee pads. I ran through a mental check list, making sure I hand't forgotten anything. `Hiraikotsu…check, sword…check, poison gas…check, poison mask...check, ok so I had everything that I needed.'

Kirara's body vibrated under me, the feral growl reminding me the reason I was out this late at night. The small village came into view, my eyes tooking in the horrific scene before me. Blood was everywhere, splattered on the ground, the sides and roofs of houses, a few huts near the center were on fire illuminating the center of the village two demons were toying with someone. I couldn't really make out their features because they were too far away and it was dark. Kirara descended and landed about three feet away from the demons, they didn't even notice us. My blood boil was boiling, I quickly climbed off of Kirara with a growl off my own.

“Let her go now!” They stopped and looked at me laughing, bad move on their side. I drew my sword and charged at the demons with Kirara beside me. They disappeared, skidding to a halt I look around. I heard chuckling behind me, swinging around and slashed with my sword hoping I'd hit one of them. Another chuckle came from behind me yet again. I looked at Kirara who kept spinning in circles and realization hit me. They are toying with me, too fast for me to see and Kirara couldn't get a decent lock on for attack. We were cornered…

YOKO'S POV

I masked my energy and felt Kuronue do the same some distance ahead of me. Yomi was close and Kuronue and myself were now twenty feet away from each other hiding in the shadows, awaiting his arrival. The animals of the forest having already scattered leaving an eerie dark calm waiting to clamp jaws on the upcoming prey. Upon hearing Yomi's footsteps I nodded to Kuronue..

We jumped out of the darkness. I stuck my arm out level with Yomi's neck clothes lining him. He ran into my arm and hit the ground with a growl. Kuronue landed on Yomi's cheast with a knee, knocking the wind out of him, with his scythe at his throat halting any struggle.

“Yomi you know me and I normally kill anyone who would defy me. I don't give many chances, as my third in command you are pushing your luck,” I said with irritation, my glare never leaving his fear filled purple eyes.

“Since I am feeling rather magnanimous I will give you two options: One, you pay the price for your defiance and become an example for the others and tell me who the other two guys were that you took with you. Two you forfeit your life, take your pick.”

“Yoru and Hime,” Yomi stammered.

“Take him back to the hideout while I go take care of the other two, make sure he doesn't leave your sight, I will be there shortly,” I ran off, not looking back nor really caring about Yomi at this point. Mice and raccoons along with other small creatures could be heard scurrying below. I jumped to the treetops preferring the light of the moon to the darkness of the canopy.

How long has it been since I left the slayer's village? How had the demon slayers choosen to deal with this situation? Was Sango safe and where were Yoru and Hime? Damn Yomi, he will pay for this mess he caused. No one defies me and gets away unscathed.

I noticed that my pace had slowed down, I pushed my legs further causing the leaves I could see along the top of the trees to blur, losing their precise detail. I will see if Sango is safe first then I will take care of the other two. I have no intention of letting them live because even if Yomi is the third in command, they were stupid enough to go along with his plan and go against the rules. Their lives are forfeit, they are rather low ranked and their deaths will be good as examples. They are disposible because they don't bring as much skill to the table as Kuronue or Yomi, let alone myself.

I let the wind carry me -at least that's what it feels like at this speed- through the night. The sky seemed out of place to be such a peaceful and beautiful blackish-blue color decorated with the shine of the stars and orb of the moon amongst such calamity. I spotted the demon slayer village in the distance. I didn't take the time to change my form, I am in a hurry. Let them know that I am a fox demon I don't particularly care right now. I masked my energy, so I could pass the barrier.

I jumped from the trees and landed in the heart of the village, it is quiet. Something isn't right…quiet, hrm… it was lively just before I left, walking over to the hut that Sango resided in and spotted the boy Kohaku inside from the door. I opted to use my fox magic, putting him under a spell causing him to walk to me in a doll like state.

“Where is Sango?” I asked, my voice taking on a low, hypnotic tone.

“She was sent to the village with Kirara that was attacked. Father sent her ahead because she would get there quicker and the others went on foot.” Kohaku told me in a dull voice. My eyes grew wide at the information I just heard.

“Go to sleep,” I said releasing him out of my trance making him fall forward. I sighed and picked him up taking him inside and laid him on his pallet. It wouldn't kill me to be nice to Sango's little brother. Without sparing him another glance I race towards the other village. Sango may have a fiery spirit and be a demon slayer but Yoru and Hime were more than she could handle. I took off for the village as fast as I could.

After the huts blurred by I decide to take to the treetops on the side of the road given that it is a faster way of transportation. I feel the wind playing through my hair as I ran, soothing yes but nothing short of the morons deaths would calm my anger. I smelled the coppery scent of blood and…cherry blossoms, snarling I push my speed to limits that I didn't know I could reach. I can't be too late, I won't be too late…or is it already too late? `Sango…'
