Yoko came upon the village and immediately spotted Sango surrounded by Yoru and Hime. She was kneeling in her own blood, her weight on the Hiraikotsu the only thing prevented her from falling over. She was panting and Kirara was by her side in her small form too injured to even move. There was another human girl but from the looks of it she died from the loss of blood. Yoko ran to stand in front of Sango with a look that meant death as his golden eyes met that of his `retired' members.
“Yoko I…” Hime stammered causing Yoko interrupted him.
“Silence,” Yoko growled, his tail flicking from his agitation, “You know for a fact that Yomi is third in command, what he says does not matter. You deliberately defied me, attacked a human village, and even had the nerve to stick around long enough for me to get here, what were you two thinking, or rather not thinking?” Sango shifted uneasily she didn't need to be in this weakened state around this Yoko guy, as if she didn't get enough of him the other night.
“Master Yoko,” Yoru started, “Yomi said that if we didn't help him he would kill us.” Yoko's scowl deepened more.
“LIES! Do you seriously think I would believe you knowing I can smell your lies?” Yoko finished in a low growl. He couldn't figure out why he was so upset, he usually kept his cool. There was a metallic sound behind him like a sword being drawn but he ignored it too focused on the task at hand.
“Tell me the truth you pitiful beasts!” Yoko said as he pulled a rose out of his long silver hair with his right hand. Yoru and Hime got on their knees and began begging.
“He said we could be notorious like you! He said that you only avoided human villages because in truth you were afraid of them and by helping him we would gain infamy among all of the surrounding lands! Please don't kill us!” pleaded Hime causing Yoko to scowl even deeper. Yoko channeled his energy into a rose causing it to transform into a green thorny whip. A sharp pain shot into Yoko's left arm which resulted in him averting his eyes to the girl behind him. Sango sat there panting with both of her hands on the hilt of the sword that was currently embedded in Yoko's left arm so deep that it was a full penetration, the tip of the blade sticking out the other end. `Figures she would do something like that, fiery kitten.' Yoko thought with a smirk distracted from the two gravelling at his feet, bright red blood trickling down his arm to drip to the ground.
“Please master Yoko don't kill us!” Yoru yelled into the dirt drawing Yoko's attention.
“Die,” Yoko stated with a flick his wrist, the former thieves' screams filling the night. Yoko turned suddenly causing Sango to fall and lose her grasp of the sword. Without much thought Yoko grabbed the hilt and removed it throwing it to the ground the blade dripping with his blood.
“Now Sango that wasn't very nice,” Yoko scolded, much like you would do a child. Sango let out a weak growl and started crab walking awkwardly backward. Yoko began advancing taking slow long strides.
“Get away from me!” yelled the demon slayer yelled, her back coming into contact with a hut. `She is injured and weak yet she still has the energy to attempt an escape.'
“Silly Sango I do not wish to harm you. Now, be still before you further aggravate your wounds.” Yoko stated still advancing.
“They called you master! You set up this whole massacre! Do not take another step or I'll slay you!”
“With all due respect Sango you are the one sitting there bleeding, do not be stupid.” Yoko was now standing right in front of her. He crouched down to be at eye level to look into Sango's eyes. Even in such a weakened state her eyes held no fear, only malice. She could smell him now, like a field of wild flowers.
“The blood loss is getting to you,” Yoko stated noticing how Sango was slightly swaying even in her sitting position. Yoko stood and walked over to Kirara, Sango's sword and the Hiraikotsu. He grabbed the Hiraikotsu and the sword in his left hand swooping Kirara up in his left arm and before walking back over to Sango.
“What are you doing?” Sango demanded with the little strength she had left. Yoko sheathed her sword in her sheath at her waist and grabbed her in his right arm.
“Rest now, I am helping you out or would you rather I leave you here to die?” Yoko stated as he started to leave the village.
“Just you wait, when I get better you're dead,” Sango managed to get out before she fell limp in his arm fainting.
“My little kitten,” Yoko said with a smirk before running off into the night at full speed.
SANGO'S POV
“How is she Yoko?” An unknown distant voice says.
“She is fine actually, judging by her breathing she is coming to,” a familiar voice says…I know that voice.
“Sure well I'm going to get something to eat.” I fight through the darkness to surface and feel something cold on my forehead. A hand grabs onto mine and I smell…flowers?
“How are you feeling?” A voice asks me…WHO DOES THAT VOICE BELONG TO?! I am getting irritated trying to figure it out. Why doesn't my mind want to work? What happened and where am I?
I struggle to open my eyes. After several attempts I finally get them to open and see golden eyes… `Yoko?'
“Where am I?” I ask and his silver ears twitched at my question. Yoko only smirked at me the bastard! I grab him by his tunic and pull myself up to be eye level, considering he is sitting. He looked down at the cloth that fell off of my head.
“Did you hear me?! I asked you a question fox boy!” I yell and he chuckles at me meeting my glare with an amused gaze. `Arrogant bastard.'
“Careful now, you still have not fully recovered,” he says and pushes me lightly back into a laying position. Now that he mentioned it I am tired. How many cuts did I receive in that battle…that's right I was battling his henchmen. Even still I should be bleeding right now, looking down I don't see any blood, cuts, bandages, scars, dirt or anything and I was wearing a pink silk kimono. All of that doesn't matter right now.
“You bastard! You caused those people's deaths! Its all your fault! Where am I?!” I yell infuriated stumbling to my feet. I take this time to look around this spacious brightly lit room not spotting my weapons anywhere. The walls are a gray rock and I realize that I am in a cave.
“Do you not recall my conversation with Yoru and Hime before I killed them? I had nothing to do with what they did,” Yoko stated while standing and towering over me.
“That still doesn't tell me where I am!” I yell, backing away from him.
“My dear Sango, why do you flee from me? Haven't you realized by now that if I wanted to hurt you that I wouldn't hesitate, and you are at my lair.” I growled because he is right, but it just makes me angrier. What is he playing at?
“Where is Kirara?!” I yell and shortly after hear a mew. Looking down I see my feline companion running up to me. I kneel down and extend my arms that she jumps into and I cuddle her. The last time I seen her she was lying on the ground badly injured now she is fine. I remember that I am not alone and look up at the silver haired fox.
“How long have I been out and why did you help us?” I ask rudely.
“You were sleep for about ten hours and I wanted to,” He responded. I wonder how long I stood there in shock that a demon -this one no less- would do such a thing. Then again he did protect me in the village and kill the other two. Nevertheless that does not clean his slate he is the whole boss of the operation…speaking of which what kind of operation does this guy run anyway? His name is Yoko… hm wasn't there a name after that, that he told me the day I first saw him. Hm Yoko Kama… Yoko Tama… Yoko Drama… no damn!
“What's your name?” I ask with Kirara in my arms. I begin to slowly inch towards the door to my left, the only exit.
“You don't remember me?” Yoko asks his expression is hurt. I laugh at this, this guy is pathetic.
“I only remember Yoko what's the other part of your name?” I say still sneaking to the door. Chuckling, he moves to stand in front of the door. `Damn it.'
“Yoko Kurama, may I ask you why you want to know?” Damn why is he trying to pull this innocent act? He has a plot I just know it. Wait did he just say Yoko Kurama? Isn't that the name of the notorious bandit? Yoko Kurama was his name too I'm sure of it, what are the odds that my luck has gone plummeting into the ground? I swallowed the lump that tried to form in my throat, if the rumors are true then I am in some serious trouble. The demon slayer village knew all about it, but never worried. He only raided demon castles and such, but he is also known to be a cold hearted ruthless killer.
“You wouldn't happen to be the notorious bandit Yoko Kurama would you?” Courage don't fail me now.
“I am,” he responds and quirks an eyebrow at me. Damn it, this isn't funny. This guy seems like a lecher and how could he rob a place blind? He sticks out with his silver hair and height, but then again anything is possible.
“Where are my weapons? Am I free to go or am I being held captive?” (A/N Translation: are we going to do this the easy way or hard way?)
“You are free to go but I ask that you wait until you're fully recovered. After then I will gladly take you back to your demon slayer village.” He states and I could feel my face drop. If he knew I was a demon slayer then why is he so calm around me, he is a demon and I do live to kill them. Come on idiot, put the pieces together. Why would this demon care about what I do anyways?
“Why should you care what happens to me?!” I ask, I know he must have a motive for keeping me around.
“That's a good question. Why should I care?” He says, as he advances towards me. 'Crap.' I began walking backwards clutching Kirara closer to me, surprisingly she isn't growling or anything. Yoko just keeps coming. I bumped up against something hard. I suddenly realize I'm backed against the wall. He leans down eye level with me with a strange look in his eyes.
“I could have let you die but didn't. I question my own motives for allowing you to live even after you slapped me and stabbed me. I could have easily ended your fragile human life so many times but didn't. Why you ask? I don't know myself. Maybe I find you fascinating.” I could feel and smell his breath against my nose as I finally realize the closeness of his mouth to mine. I feel the blood rush to my cheeks and my heart tries to beat out of my chest. I have no feelings for this demon, if anything I hate him. Why am I reacting this way? I mean yes he is attractive…no wait what am I thinking?!
“What are you doing…?”
