Sango meekly followed Yoko down the long stone corridor in an awkward silence. Ever since he had healed her hands in such a sinful manner, Sango decided to keep her distance.
Why had she agreed to let this fox train her again? She was suppose to exterminate demons, not learn under them. Since Yoko offered to further her skills at demon slaying, didn't that make him a traitor to his own kind? He had said earlier that he wasn't fond of humans, yet he is planning to teach a human to kill demons. Also, he had allowed her to defy him in his lair and in front of his group of thieves. He had merely stood on the sidelines and watched her carry out a punishment on his third-in-command. Why was he being so kind to her? Did he want something in return? If that was the case, then he could go to hell because she wasn't giving him anything.
She was a demon slayer and he was a demon. They were never meant to coexist, let alone be within a few feet within each other without attempting to slay the other. Kirara was a demon yes, but that was a different story, wasn't it? This demon—this bandit—ran a whole illegal operation. Why was she so confused about the silver fox in front of her?
Why was she walking so close to him without attempting to kill him? Yes, there was the fact that she was completely unarmed, but that was no excuse. What would her father think of this situation? Why did she feel like she was in a safe place when she was the only human in a demon's sanctuary? Not knowing the answers only further bothered Sango. So absorbed with her thoughts, she hadn't realized that Yoko had stopped walking. He eyed her in amusement as she walked passed him and continued down the hall.
“Sango…?” Yoko called out, pulling the girl from her thoughts. Her head tilted up, and then she turned to him with eyes that held puzzlement. Yoko smirked at how cute she looked. He nodded towards the doorway he stood in front of. Sango's face turned into a light pink tint, which was soon replaced with a hard look. She started for the doorway and nudged him with her elbow to `move him out of her way.' With a chuckle, Yoko followed her into the large room.
Sango evaluated the large room that she stepped in. It was well lighted with candles placed proportionally around the room. The walls were lined with an assortment of weapons such as swords, scythes, axes, maces, and many weapons that she didn't know the proper name for. There was a large mat covering a large part of the center of the room. She assumed that it was where the demons sparred at. Her eyes glittered with fascination and excitement. It was hard to imagine that this wonderful training room was located in a demon's lair. Yoko didn't miss the look that passed through her eyes and was pleased that the room was to her liking.
Sango was so mesmerized at how wonderful the room was that she missed the fact that Yoko went over to the eastern side of the room to where her Hiraikotsu, sword, gas mask, poison gas, and demon slayer outfit was sitting on a table neatly.
Sango's skin crawled. Her body's natural sense of alarm abruptly pulled her out of her thoughts. This made her notice that there was an odd sound coming towards her fast. She looked just in time to see her Hiraikotsu flying at her with immeasurable speed. Instinctively, she reached out with her right arm and caught onto one of the strings connected to one of the ends and halted it in mid action. The velocity of the boomerang caused her to skid backwards a few feet before coming to a stop. She glared daggers across the large room towards Yoko.
“What the hell are you trying to do?! Kill me?!” Sango nearly roared.
“I knew you would catch it.” Sango fumed even more because of the nonchalant tone that answered her. What if she didn't catch it? The speed was faster than any of the times that she threw it.
Yoko watched with delight as Sango stomped over to where he was. To him, she really did look like a pissed off kitten with the way that her lips were set into her signature pout. She was probably unaware of how many times she pouted when she was upset or mad.
He wondered if she was aware that she was still wearing the pink kimono that he had her dressed in after he healed her. She lifted her leg to stomp in irritation. She did not notice that this action caused her knee length kimono to rise, allowing him a nice view of her toned thighs. Figuring out that Yoko was staring down, Sango stopped and fully appraised her outfit with a frown. She forgot that she was planning on knocking the smirk permanently off of his face. There was no way that she was going to train with Yoko wearing something so… inappropriate.
Yoko read her flustered facial expression and looked towards the table that held all of her items. Following his gaze, Sango noticed her things were scattered across the table. With a smile, she quickly ran over to it and began to study each of her items thoroughly. Like Yoko had previously stated, all of her items were modified. Her sword was sharper, her gas mask was more proficient with a filtered lining, her pads for her outfit and the overall outfit was thicker and tougher. She then looked at the Hiraikotsu in her hand and saw that it was lighter and shinier. She gently ran her fingers over the surface and noticed it had been buffed to smoothness. She looked at the edges and they were sharper than usual. There was reinforced handle straps in place where her old worn ones once were at both ends of it. Her main weapon was now beyond lethal. Elation—no, beyond elation filled Sango with a level of happiness that she hadn't been able to reach in a while. Sango's elation was short lived however and soon replaced by suspicion.
She eyed the fox with distrust. Why would anyone lavish anyone with this kind of kindness without having an ulterior motive? Yoko quirked an eyebrow curious as to why Sango's mood would change so drastically, just a few seconds ago she was beaming with joy now she was looking at him like he'd done something wrong. Knowing that Yoko wasn't going to say anything Sango did instead.
“First you save my life and then you repair and modify my stuff! Not that I'm complaining, but nobody does something for nothing!” Sango yelled. Yoko merely laughed heartily at her further boosting her ill mood.
“If you only know people who wouldn't do a good for nothing in return my Sango then you need new friends,” Yoko stated when his laughter died down.
“You have a motive,” Sango accused the innocent looking man in front of her.
“I am innocent until you prove me guilty,” Yoko teased causing Sango to release a weak human growl. He began to laugh again. Sango couldn't believe that he would find her entertaining instead of intimidating. She would show him alright, just wait until she changed clothes.
She put down her oversized boomerang and grabbed her demon slayer outfit and started to walk out of the room fuming. She would go to the room she woke up in, change, and then come back and wipe the floor with Yoko. Sango walked out of the huge training room and proceeded down the hall. She looked behind her to make sure that Yoko wasn't following her and let out a sigh of relief when he didn't. She needed some time to collect herself and clear her mind.
She succeeded in keeping it pretty blank until she reached her unofficial room. Upon walking into the comfortable sized room she turned and slid the door shut. She didn't have time for a peeping Tom. A mew greeted her and she glared at her feline companion who was preoccupied with what seemed to be catnip in the corner. She didn't even realize that Kirara wasn't with her in the training room until now. Once again today her friend had betrayed her and practically threw Sango to the wolves. With another sigh she began to undo the stash on the kimono. After that task was completed, she began to slip the clothes from her shoulder.
However, she stopped, sensing another presence. Sango quickly pulled the fabric back up, and then turned. “Who's there…?!” she snapped out. The door slid open and in stepped the dark-haired demon known as Yomi. To her agitation, his injuries had already healed from when he took a beating from her.
“For a human, your senses are quite high,” he greeted.
“Your compliments are neither needed nor wanted, bastard!” Sango retorted, heatedly. The demon frowned at her harsh tone. “Why have you come here? Do you seek retribution for what I did to you?” Yomi openly glared at the demon slayer. This caused Sango to crouch into a defensive stance, yet it appeared as though she would attack at any moment.
“I want to fight you again,” Yomi announced. “When I'm fully healed and at full power, I assure you that I won't lose again.” Sango gave a humorless chuckle. Yomi's eyebrow twitched. “You think you're so confident…”
“I am confident. I killed demons like you before I could even learn to talk. Believe me when I say that you are no match for me.”
“Cocky bitch,” he called her.
“Disgusting jackass,” she called him. Yomi suddenly disappeared from her sight. He reappeared behind Sango, holding her arms in a painful grip at her sides. The demon slayer cried out, and then grimaced, cursing herself for getting caught like this. “Careful, woman,” he hissed. “You're still surrounded by demons. You're outnumbered and outmatched. I'd watch your tone with me.”
“I'm outnumbered…” Sango suddenly smirked, and then bent low and jumped up. While in air, she flipped behind the tall demon. She brought her knee, striking his spine. It was Yomi's turn to cry out. He unintentionally released her wrists. Sango grabbed on hold of his long hair, twisting his mane around her wrist. Quickly, she yanked, causing his head to spring back. Her other arm reached around, putting him in a chokehold. Strangled, he could only hope to gasp out nonsense. “Not outmatched,” she finished.
The horned demon nearly growled. This damn human woman had the gull to put him in such an unsightly state. It felt as though she was going to pull his hair out. He shivered lightly, feeling her skin against his. He sucked in a breath. The strain of bending backwards was getting to him. “Let me-”
“If you attack me again, I will kill you,” Sango interrupted him. She yanked his hair again, slamming him to the floor. “Now leave me, demon.” With that said Sango stepped back from the fallen Yomi prepared herself for another attack that may or may not come. Much to her pleasure he got up and left the room without so much as a backwards glance closing the door one his way out.
Sango smiled to herself. Some one had to teach these demons that a woman, a human no less, could fend for herself around them. She was in a better mood. A nice round of kick ass did that for her. Without any further distractions the demon slayer began to change into her demon slaying outfit, again. After the outfit was properly on Sango made sure her hair was still in a ponytail. After that she folded the pink silk kimono that she previously wore and sat it on the mat that she slept on. She then headed back to the training room where Yoko waited for her. She wouldn't admit this to anyone, but she secretly looked forward to her training lesson.
When Sango stepped into the room she found Yoko and Kuronue waiting for her beside the table where her weapons were laid out. She rose an eyebrow in question as to why Kuronue was present, but didn't say anything as she silently made her way across the room. Yoko watched her like a cat would a canary. Did she know how defined her body was in that outfit? He couldn't describe in words how edible she looked.
“It sure did take long enough, what did you do get lost?” Kuronue questioned and earned silence from Sango who completely ignored him while she geared up. After she completed her task she grabbed her Hiraikotsu and walked over to one side of the mat and waited for Yoko to take his position at the opposing side. Yoko smirked and used his supernatural speed to take his spot across from Sango.
“Any rules?” Sango asked so she could know the boundaries. Yoko inwardly smiled at her eagerness. She was just too cute standing there looking serious and ready to fight.
“No.” As soon as these words left Yoko's mouth Sango threw her Hiraikotsu. Yoko jumped into the air and dodged her attack with ease. Surprisingly Sango was in the air with her sword drawn and swung at him an attempt to wound him. When Yoko noticed this he dodged at the last minute just barely avoiding her blade. They both landed at the same time with their backs facing each other. Sango hadn't expected him to dodge her blade, but she did have another trick up her sleeve. The Hiraikotsu was returning to her and instead of catching it she jumped as high as she could, causing the oversized boomerang to bypass her and head for Yoko. He turned just in time to stop the oncoming weapon with both hands. Before he could discard it a kick came from overhead. Yoko caught Sango by the ankle and slammed her on the ground. Before she had time to react Yoko had his hand on her throat, her Hiraikotsu falling to the ground in an audible thud behind him. Sango should have been scared or at least disappointed at her predicament, but instead was rather ecstatic, a devious smirk playing across her face. Within a second Yoko was on his back with Sango straddling him and her hand at his throat.
“Seems like you're down fox,” Sango teased. Yoko underestimated her strength and didn't expect her to break out of his hold. He would remember that for next time. He then analyzed their current position and smirked a smirked a perverted smirk. Do she realized how provocative this position was? Does she know how good it felt to him to have her feminine body pinning him down like this? She was soft yet he could still feel her muscles. With a regretful sigh Yoko flipped Sango over and re-pinned her to the ground, but this time holding her arms to her sides by her wrists.
“No, my dear Sango, it appears that you are the one down,” Yoko purred into her ear. Sango's face flushed with red and she started to squirm to try and free herself, but to no avail. Yoko let her up before he lost his self control. She didn't realize that she was squirming against his manhood and he was here to train her not take her on the training room floor. He needed to focus. The demon slayer jumped to her feet swiftly and waited for Yoko to get up. He tried to rid himself of the erotic thoughts that Sango unknowingly provided.
“Your skills are highly impressive. You are swift and you used a very tactful strategy. You used your boomerang as a distraction and attacked with your sword meeting me in mid-air while I was focused on dodging your initial attack. After we landed you evaded your boomerang as it returned from when you first threw it so it could hit me after I had long forgotten its existence. Then you aerially attacked me while I was dealing with your weapon. I must commend you, you are truly skilled. I see you have no problem with dealing with one on one fighting, but from what I gathered yesterday you need help for when it comes to multiple fast demons.” Sango nodded at this information with an impassive expression. On the inside, she was happy to be receiving such praise.
“When dealing with multiples you must use more than your eyes to effectively fight. When dealing with faster demons your eyes can become totally useless. You must use your ears and detect their energy to effectively fight. As a demon slayer I'm sure you already know how to detected demon energy. I didn't use my full speed when we were sparring, but if I had you would not have caught me. Instead of trying to chase what you cannot catch you must wait for it to come to you. Kuronue and I will take you on next and I will blindfold you, I want you to use a wooden sword that I will provide, got it?” Yoko asked and Sango nodded and like a scholar while soaking up the information for future use.
Yoko led her to the middle of the training mat and Kuronue walked over with a dark band that would serve as the blindfold and a wooden sword. Yoko wrapped it around her eyes causing her vision to go black. Sango took the wooden sword that Yoko held to her hand and waited.
“Good, now remember use your ears and feel our energy,” was all the warning Sango received from Yoko when she felt something coming to her right at a rapid pace. She waited until she was sure that she would hit it and swung her sword which came in contact with flesh briefly before whoever jumped away.
“Very impressive, now this time both of us will come at the same time from different directions. You need to move swiftly and effectively. You have to fend off both of us while trying to severely injure one of us so you can do the same to the other.” Yoko's voice instructed. Sango waited again and heard someone fast approaching from behind and felt someone from the left. She turned to the side and `impaled' the one who was originally coming from the left and side kicked the one who was now coming from the left.
“Good, you stopped one of your attackers; now make sure you don't get distracted from the other one. After watching their partner go down their attacks will be fiercer, just remember to feel for their energy and listen for any oncoming noises.” Sango did as she was instructed and realized that Yoko was running a fast circle around her much like the guys yesterday, only a considerable amount faster. Knowing that she couldn't possibly compete with such speed and Yoko said to wait Sango thought of a plan. She held her sword up and sideways at neck level and caused the demon to clothes line himself. Had it been a real sword the demon would have decapitated himself.
“That was without a doubt absolutely beautiful,” Yoko praised. Not only was Sango strong and able to take care of herself unlike most females, but she was also smart and a quick learner. Sango was beaming with delight. She loved learning new things and using them effectively. The black band was lifted off of her eyes and the first thing she saw was Yoko. Without thinking she threw her arms around him out of excitement. Yoko was shocked at first at Sango's action, but then wrapped his arms around her. Upon noticing what she was doing Sango removed her arms and moved out of Yoko's grasp blushing slightly. Kuronue began to laugh and earned a glare from Sango, he didn't stop, however.
Why was Yoko being so nice again? Sango had completely forgotten about her suspicions. Damn fox and his nice antics. She turned her glared on to Yoko full force. He had to have some ulterior motive for all of this. No demon would help train a human to kill demons. He wanted something in return, he had to. She would no longer push the thought around in her head and try to dissect it, she would demand he tell her now.
“What is your motive for all of this?! Once again you do something nice. Yoko, nobody does something for nothing. Now tell me what do you want from me!” Sango demanded, yelling up at the fox. Kuronue watched with amusement. This girl was just too funny. With a chuckle, Yoko's gaze met Sango's chocolate brown one.
“If you insist,” Yoko began.
“Ah ha…! I knew it was something! That much gratitude doesn't come without a price!” Sango yelled, angrily.
“I wish to court you.”
