Eternal Darkness - Chapter 1 - So it begins

"For as long as there has been life there has been a separation between right and wrong. The living and the dead unknowingly fight
the constant battle between good and evil. Wars and battles are in truth skirmishes between the forces of heaven and hell. Good
and evil two sides of the same coin, the balance shifts but neither side can truly ever win for without good what is evil and without
evil, good is no longer relevant. Most are a balance of good and evil, thoughts and actions prove that no one can be purely one of
the other. Even the most sainted have a flaw and the most flawed an ounce of humanity. But history proves that in the darkness an
evil lurks that is pure in its hatred. It has appeared throughout time, the name it once went by has long been lost but it has many
nicknames. Many who have witness its evil went mad slaughtering those who they believed were to innocent to be left in its
clutches...Genocide, wars, sacrifices were causes of its influence. Once the destruction was caused and havoc reigned the
darkness would retreat once more leaving the shaken survivors to pick up the pieces and try to salvage some bit of humanity. It
returns when its name has faded into old legends, heard by many heeded by none, to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting unprepared
population." The young storyteller paused for dramatic effect before continuing her story. "This darkness is an entity of pure evil.
My ancestor Kanna believed that it was the source of all evil in the world that it was what we call the devil. It cannot be killed
'cause evil cannot truly cease to exist...It lives in everyone and every animal...To destroy it the entire world...no...everything that
has conscious thought needs to be pure body, heart, and mind for even one sadistic cruel thought gives power to the darkness. The
darker your heart and soul the more influence it has on you."

"Rogue that was some tale did this legend get passed down through your family?" The young storyteller Rogue smiled sadly...She
didn't know her family she was adopted.

"Well sugah, I was adopted but ma adopted family gave me a book and silver mirror when I turned 12...It was from ma family...Ma
real family...They were heirlooms passed down generation to generation. The book was filled with legends and stories written by
Kanna...No last name just Kanna...The mirror was hers she tells a tale about an evil that corrupted her through her mirror...but
that's a tale for another time...But this story of the darkness was the last thing she wrote along with a warning...She wrote that the
darkness would return not as it had before appearing briefly causing some damage and leaving...No she warned that it would find
another with powers over the darkness...Together they could forever alter the balance in favor of evil. Kanna demands that until its
return the book and the mirror must be passed to the youngest of her bloodline. She writes that if the darkness returns use the
mirror...it will stop it long enough. She doesn't write what it would be long enough for...It's silly superstitious stuff but she was
family and I will honor her wish...Her legends are the only link I have to ma family...Ma heritage. She spoke of demons and heroes,
slayers and healers...This was 500 years ago I'm sure then she honestly believed that an evil presence existed. It was simpler to
believe that something sinister was behind all the death then anything natural." Her last comment was said on a laugh. "I'm sure we
don't have to worry about the darkness."

During her story, a young man with heavily gelled hair was exchanging glances with his red haired companion and his large
somewhat dumb companion. In the trees a young man with red eyes watched eager to discuss the new development with his
associates. So engrossed were they in the young lady's tale they never noticed the piercing hate filled yellow eyes watching them
from the shadows.

In the shadows, a lone figure listened to the story a tale he was familiar with. After all it was his life story so to speak. His name
was forgotten long ago. He was the think lurking in the shadows that everyone feared. Catching himself just in time he stopped
himself from laughing out loud when the brunette with the white bangs said they didn't have to fear him. Now they should fear him
more than ever before. Soon he would have his vengeance against the do-gooders. He could feel her...The girl who controlled the
darkness, soon she would be his and together they would rule. -Soon- he thought, -Soon I will plunge this world into chaos and
darkness.-He smirked looking briefly at the young man in the tree. That one had darkness in his soul, he would be a valuable ally. The red eyes flicked in his direction widening slightly as they met his. Smiling now the darkness raised an elegant finger pressing it against his lips as he faded back into the shadows he ruled.

Hiei's hand closed convulsively around his katana. He heard the last thought, saw the yellow eyes...This was the demon they were
searching for. But before he could move the demon winked motioned for silence and faded from sight. Opening his jagan, Hiei
searched for the elusive demon but no traces could be found. It was as if it didn't exist but Hiei knew different. Cursing silently he
alerted the spirit detectives. The search was on.

--------

King Enma, ruler of the Spirit world cursed loudly. Things were not going as he had planned. She still hadn't managed to fuse the
jewel together. Now it was imperative that the spell be ended...He needed his friends back. IT had returned, the darkness that
plagued the human realm every hundred of years or so. He was still dealing with the overload from the last time it struck. Koenma
had his spirit detective searching for the darkness but Enma knew even if they found it...Their powers were not great enough to
defeat it. Only one had ever successfully contained it, beat it enough that it sought the shadows once more. It had slumber then for
nearly two hundred and fifty years. Now it was back seeking to destroy anyone and anything to do with the spirit realm. And Tainn
was lost stuck in time for her protection. Only when the spell was broken would she be able to remember who and what she was.
Hopefully soon she would face the hanyou and finally realize her destiny. For without her the Renkai, Ningenkai, and even the
Makai would be lost to the darkness.

--------

Meanwhile five hundred years in past, the brave warrior Enma thought about closed her eyes fighting the bile that rose in her
throat. She would not scream...No she would be brave even though she dangled at least 35 feet in the air. -Oh god I'm going to
die...I'm to young to die...Did Mom feed Buyo today? I shouldn't feel so glad that Kikyo's in the same predicament...- Her thoughts
paused as she looked at the miko she so resembled. A miko that had part of her soul and had tried to kill her time and again. She
felt a small flash of satisfaction that Kikyo would be destroyed as well before she instantly berated herself. -Come on
Kagome...She was killed young barely getting the chance to enjoy life...And she loves Inuyasha...I think?...Bad thoughts stop
wander listen to the evil hanyou...- She shook her head in disbelief when she heard what Naraku was saying. "No..." She
whispered as the tears started flowing.

"The time has come Inuyasha, you must make a choice. The dead Kikyo or the very real Kagome." Naraku smirked when he
heard the living miko's exclamation. He could smell her tears and that made his victory even lovelier. With a small wave of his hand
he signaled for Kagura to drop the living miko and Hakudoushi to drop the clay pot. He nearly laughed as Inuyasha reacted jumping
to save Kikyo instead of Kagome. His plan was working perfectly.

Kagome screamed when she noticed the ground rushing towards her. Her eyes sought Inuyasha seeking his help but his choice
was made. He gave her 'the look' the one that said Forgive me I'm sorry. Sorry I hurt you again...Sorry I can't love you not the
way you deserve...Sorry to betray you once again. It was a look she had become quite used to these past few months. She turned
away unable to bear the pain in his golden eyes. Pain she knew was mirrored in her own chocolate orbs. Her glance fell on Miroku
and Shippo. They were trying to get to her but they would be to late...She would die here stuck 500 years in the past unable to see
her family...Unable to say goodbye to her brother, her mother, ji-chan...She'd even miss Buyo. Her breath caught on a sob this was
truly the end for her. No Inuyasha to save her at the last minute.

Even as she contemplated her death there was a tearing pain coming from her shoulder and she slowed stopping mere feet from
the ground. The tentacle that had caught her gently lowered her to the ground where she collapsed holding her arm, crying from the
pain. Naraku walked closer bending down until he was level with her. "Kukuku little miko...I'm sorry I had to hurt you to prove my
point. That hanyou doesn't deserve your loyalty. He betrays you time after time with the dead miko. Never will he see you as
Kagome. In his mind you will always be a shadow of his first love. Never quite up to his expectations always failing where she
would have succeeded. I can see your desire little miko. You wish to be loved by him but not because you look like her. Join me
little miko and I promise you I will never see you as Kikyo." His hand gently caressed her cheek absently wiping the tears that
trailed downward.

Distantly Kagome heard shouting and banging...She knew somewhere in the back of her mind that Naraku had placed a barrier
between them and everyone else. No one could get in and she couldn't get out. She was trapped with Naraku and his minions
completely at their mercy. Her mind contemplated his offer...To be wanted not because she looked like some dead woman was a
desired change. But her heart rebelled...This was the demon who cause all this to happen. He was the reason behind all the death
and destruction she had witness during her journey. Kohaku...The wind tunnel...inadvertently Shippo's father...Kikyo's
death...Inuyasha's imprisonment to the tree...Kaede's eye...The extinction of the exterminators...All things that Naraku had a hand
in. She looked behind Naraku seeing Shippo struggling to break away from the lecherous monk Miroku. Both had tears streaming
down their faces going unheeded. But Kagome focused more on the little kit she had started to think of as her son. Unable to hear
him she only saw him mouth the word mommy and she knew what she had to do. She could not fail her kit even at the cost of her
life she would take Naraku to hell with her.

Naraku knew the instant she made her decision. It was written in the tenseness of her body and the determined lift of her chin. She
eyed him coldly. "Go to Hell Naraku." She spat at him while summoning her pure energy.
Naraku's eyes narrowed dangerously. His hand lashed out slapping her hard enough she tumbled to the ground. Absently he picked
her up grabbing the shards hanging around her neck in his bloody hand. "You cooperation is not necessary little miko. All I need is
your shards and then you will be mine." While he spoke the jewel shards seemed to soak up the blood on his hand turning it a deep
purple almost tainted color.

Kagome eyed him from the ground blood training from her mouth and a few small cuts on her cheek from his razor sharp nails. She
watched as once again the gem was united finally whole once more. Naraku laughed finally the shikon no tama was his. No one
was prepared for what happened next. The tama rose in the air pulsing slowly. As it rose the pulsing increased until it was rapidly
flashing an almost continual light. Many shielded their eyes unable to bear the bright light. For those that managed to see what was
happening were even more shocked when four beams of light shot out of the gem. One black, one gold, one blue, one green. They
all twined together heading for Kagome. The energy pierced the young woman with enough force to raise her on her tippy toes.
Kagome screamed when the energy careened into her bruised and battered body. She felt like it was burning her alive. The others
could only watch as this happened, listening as her screams became more feral until it was no longer a young human screaming but
an enraged animal. When this occurred the gold, blue and green energy left the young miko heading down the old well at the far
end of the field. There was a flash of white light and a resound clank like a large metal door closing. When the glow faded Kagome
stood before the hanyou Naraku. Her head was lowered allowing her bangs to shield her expressive eyes.

Naraku was puzzled when the jewel fell back into his hand. The power of the shikon the energy was gone...He could sense it in the
girl but how could that be it was his. Enraged Naraku threw the husk of the shikon to the ground not caring when it splintered into
tiny fragments. "HOW DID YOU STEAL ITS POWER MIKO?" He demanded wrapping his tentacles around his victim.
Kagome laughed at the fear in his voice. It was not the sweet laugh many had heard before. No this was cold cruel and devoid of
any humanity. Naraku stepped back releasing his hold on the miko. She finally raised her face staring at him intently. Her once
brown eyes were now swirling black voids in which Naraku clearly saw his demise. A smirk crossed her face when the evil demon
swallowed convulsively.

"What's wrong Naraku? See something that scares you?" She asked sweetly gently running her fingers over the tentacle that still
held her bad arm. Following the trail of her fingers the tentacle seemed to burn from the inside out leaving nothing but ashes that
blew with the wind. His cry of pain was music to her ears. Without hesitation she shoved her shoulder back into its socket never
taking her eyes off the one who had cause so much death and destruction.

She laughed again looking for Kagura. The wind demon was standing by a tree next to Kanna. Kagome seemed to fade into the
shadows at her feet only to appear behind both demons. A gentle touch rendered the small demon child Kanna unconscious. A brief

talk with Kagura had Kagome smiling again...Albeit an evil smile but a smile none the less. Kagura took off disappearing into the
shadows of the trees. Before her friends could blink she was standing in front of Naraku again. Their words carried to the tense
crowd waiting outside the barrier.

"Little miko you are full of surprises..."

"I'm no miko Naraku...I'm not even human."

"You're no demon...nor hanyou...you smell..." The hanyou paused watching her closely.

This time Kagome laughed with real humor. "Smell what? I smell of power of energy...I am something more than human, hanyou,
or demon. I am an incarnate of the shikon no tama. Its powers are mine."

"Impossible you lie wench." Kagome's eye twitched and her hands curled into fists.

"I HAVE A NAME HANYOU!!! IT'S A NICE NAME USE IT...YOU DID EARLIER!" She shouted at him not noticing
Hakudoushi sneaking up on her. "Oh no you don't you sneaky bastard." She ducked the punch the evil child threw at her. Landing in
a crouch she launched herself at the white haired demon landing square in his chest. Her hands wrapped around his neck as her
legs wrapped around his waist. His hands went to her waist to pull her off of him but the second he touched her he felt a heat fill
him. It was lust for the girl holding on to him. Not the blood lust he usually felt but a need to have her an overwhelming urge to take
her then and there. With only a moments hesitation Hakudoushi greedily drew her lips to his meeting her in an all consuming kiss.
He kissed her like a man starving and she readily drank from him.

From beyond the barrier Miroku watched in horror. The devil spawn Hakudoushi was kissing no making out with Kagome and she
wasn't stopping him. No in fact she seemed to be enjoying it. He could only watch in shock as before his eyes Hakudoushi seemed
to age drastically. His skin became yellowed and weathered with age. His face appeared sunken when he finally pulled away from
Kagome. His hand reached up to brush her cheek, it was old and brittle not the hand of a demon at all. Miroku watched as Kagome
smiled sadly before blowing gently (so he thought) on the withered husk that was Hakudoushi. The gentle breeze caused the
withered mass to fold in upon itself collapsing until nothing remained of the once proud devil spawn but ashes that were swept
away in the wind.

She turned back to Naraku the sad smile still on her lips but her eyes were empty black voids. Her cheeks were flushed with
color...She looked remarkably well. "Now there are none to protect you Naraku. As you already noticed you are trapped here. It is
time to end it." She motioned towards the tree, the shadows seemed to split revealing Kagura. In her hands she carried a small
bundle that struggled and thrashed in her arms. Silently she handed it to Kagome before fading back in the shadows. Naraku's eyes
widened when he realized what Kagome held. It was the child who held his heart. His death would leave Naraku vulnerable.
-Put me down wench- Kagome glanced down at the baby in her arms. It watched her with hate filled eyes. Not bothering to hide
its animosity towards her, he compelled her to put him down. She shook her head laughing at the pure evil child.

"Not a chance hell spawn..." She looked at Naraku who was visibly frightened. "Will it hurt when you die?" She raised her hand
which shone with a dark light. Blood spurted from the baby's chest as he increased his struggles. His cried reached the surrounding
group sending chills down their spines. It was an inhuman scream that ended shortly after it began. With tears in her eyes she
dropped the dead body to the floor holding up a still beating heart.

"Can you feel my hand tightening on your heart Naraku. Can you feel the blood slowly draining as my power calls it?" She sent
energy from her palm into the beating heart. A smile of satisfaction played on her lips when Naraku bent over gasping in pain. She
yawned widely bored of her game. The darkness flowed from her eyes surrounding her in a murky shadow. Her hand closed over
the heart which burst into ash at the contact of her aura.

Naraku cried out collapsing to the ground. Kagome walked away from him without a backwards glance. She looked at Inuyasha
who was staring at her as if she had grown two heads. "He's all yours now. I'm going to help your brother." She moved away
without waiting to see what he would do. Sesshomaru was her main concern. He had been pierced with a poisoned dart and it was
slowly purifying him.

Everyone stayed away from her and she knew a moment of pain. Closing herself off from the betraying emotions she bent to the
taiyoukai lord. "Sesshomaru-sama, I'm going to heal you...It will hurt I ask that you not try and kill me...You'll find that I'm not so
easily killed anymore..." Her palm lay flat over the wound and the other gently touched the flesh above his missing arm.
She would heal him because the dart was meant for Shippo...Calling on her powers she pulled the spell of purification that was
traveling through his blood. Slowly she pulled it from him inch by agonizing inch. At the same time she willed the flesh of his
shoulder to stretch and pull. Underneath her hand bones and muscles formed, flesh encased them moving downward until fingers
formed.

Kagome could feel her strength leaving her...She didn't have the energy to do this...With each passing moment the pull of the spell
grew stronger. It grew so strong that she actually flickered as she finished the new arm. Sango and Miroku rushed to her side
concern evident in their worried faces. She ignored them watching Sesshomaru's actions. He sat up slowly bringing his new hand
into view. Poison filled his claws and the marks on his wrist grew visible as they all watched. All he did was nod to Kagome before
he stood up moving towards Kagura.

"She's under my protection Sesshomaru-sama...Help Inuyasha kill Naraku if you need to kill something." Sesshomaru nodded moving away from her. Sango and Miroku moved closer.

"Kagome? What happened? Are you alright?" Sango knelt in front of her reaching out to touch her. Kagome recoiled instinctively.

"Don't touch me Sango-chan...I don't want to hurt you." She stood swiftly stepping towards Miroku. "Miro' I'm sorry..."

The monk was confused she hadn't done anything to him. "Sorry about what lady Kagome?"

"Your curse...It was there in Hakudoushi's mind...It wont end with Naraku's death...It's tied to your blood and will continue to
surface every generation until your bloodline is destroyed." Kagome looked away unable to hide her tears. They had grown closer
over the past few months. Ever since Sango's marriage really. She didn't want him to die in such a way.

Miroku was stunned in the end his wind tunnel would kill him. "It's okay lady Kagome...I've led a good life."

"I can save you Miro'...I have power over flesh and blood...It would be an easy thing to seal the wind tunnel and remove the curse
from your body...But you have to want it. You have to trust me not to hurt you like I did Hakudoushi and that evil baby." She didn't
look at him afraid of the fear she would see in his eyes.

"Do it. I trust you." Her head snapped up, eyes searching his for some sign. All she saw was the laughter and joy in his eyes.

"Thank you." She stepped closer her hand reaching to lay gently on his gloved hand. He flinched trying to pull his hand away. Even
though he had given permission he was scared to hurt her. "Relax Miroku I wont hurt you if it can be helped."

He nodded eyes locked with hers. She leaned closer until she stood on her tippy toes, her other hand slipped to his neck bringing
him closer until their lips were nearly touching. "I have to drain the wind tunnel's energy. To do that I need to kiss you. I promise to
take only what is necessary." She didn't wait for an answer as her lips locked onto his. His lips were hot nearly burning her, she
licked his lips trying to get him to open up. For a moment he didn't respond, for a moment he was stunned by her bold behavior.
Only for a moment. His free hand swept up her back to bury itself in her hair holding her close as he took over the kiss. Happily
she opened to him enjoying the hot kiss. She kissed him with hunger and passion that wasn't faked...He kissed her deeply drinking
her in.

When the kiss began to gently Kagome slipped her fingers under the glove and into the hole that was the wind tunnel. Pain shot
through the monk and he bit down at the unexpected shaft of agony. Kagome whimpered when he bit her lip hard. She knew in the
back of her mind that she was bleeding but Miroku murmured and apology and licked the wound before returning to plunder her
mouth. The kiss grew become all consuming. Kagome's hands slipped up, fisting in his hair to pull him closer and hold him there.
Miroku's once cursed hand slid across her back molding her willing body into his.

"What the hell is going on here? Get your hands off her!" Inuyasha's shout nearly deafened Kagome and Miroku. He didn't wait for
a response before Miroku was chucked across the clearing. Kagome still locked in a web of desire stared at the hanyou. "How
could you let him kiss you Kagome?" He had the nerve to look hurt this angered the girl.

"How dare you interfere Inuyasha." Her voice was dangerously low. "YOU DON'T OWN ME!" Inuyasha's ears flattened to his
skull. He looked away she was right he had chosen Kikyo.

"Kagome I'm sor..." She slapped him cutting him off.

"I don't want your apologies anymore...You hurt me time and again but never again...I'm not Kagome anymore...She was weak I
am not...Now Sango bring your brother here...Inuyasha please as a favor to me bring Kikyo here. I promise not to hurt her but I will need my soul back. Kagura I know you can hear me please come here and bring Kanna." Kagome walked away not bothering to see if they carried out her orders.

"You okay?" She helped Miroku stand noticing that Shippo was watching. The monk nodded staring at his hand where the wind
tunnel was no used to be. He looked at her tears in his lavender eyes.

"Thank you Kagome." Leaning forward he caught her lips in a sweet undemanding kiss. Blushing Kagome moved away now shy
around her friend. Sango with Kohaku's body, Kagura holding Kanna, Inuyasha tenderly holding Kikyo that was what waited for
her when she turned around.

"Kagura I will need you to hold down Kohaku for me...Sango consider this my wedding gift to you." She knelt down motioning the
wind sorceress to hold down the young man's shoulders. Before anyone could react Kagome used a hidden dagger to slice open
her wrist. Gently she pressed the wound to Kohaku's lips ignoring the gasps of shock that echoed around her. With the first drop
color returned to the young slayer's skin. Eventually he was greedily drinking her blood until Kagome pulled away. Her finger
traced the wound on her wrist, the others watched as the wound seemed to flow together until her skin was perfectly unflawed
again. Kohaku tried to follow the blood but couldn't because Kagura held him to tightly. He sank into a blissful sleep a small smile
curving his lips. "Sango, he'll be alright but he will need to rest for a few days...but i really should..." She trailed off looking at the
young man.Bending down she called on her brother's energy that lingered with her. A golden light filled her hands and eyes, flashing when she touched Kohaku. Satisfied now she pulled back. "Alright he'll be better now and he doesn't need to rest. Just give him a few minutes to rest dying takes a lot out of you." She turned away missing Sango's shocked look.

Standing Kagome motioned the wind sorceress to her. "Normally my powers alone couldn't give you what you seek but for a brief
time I have the necessary abilities to help you Kagura..." She laid her hand on Kagura shoulder an instant before the demoness
collapsed to the ground. "Oops...Should have warned her." She traced her finger over Kagura's chest watching as the skin split
following her trail. Many looked away unable to bear the sight before them.

Ignoring them the young woman placed both hands over the wound, she called on the extra energy she had from the initial blast of
the shikon. Her dark aura seemed to fade into her as it was replaced by a calm blue energy that seemed to have a gentle push and
pull to it. Under her hands a heart seemed to be forming filling the empty space. When she was satisfied she forced blood to flow
through the organ making sure it would flow and beat properly. With a sigh of satisfaction she sealed with would not even leaving a
small mark that she had opened the wind sorceress' chest.

"Okay...Kagura has her heart, Kohaku is among the living, no more wind tunnel...what else? Oh yeah Kikyo, my soul, little Kanna,
oh and Shippo." She paused in her mumbling looking towards the kit. Her smile was enough for him. Without fear or doubt he raced
into her arms.

"Kagome are you going to leave?" He buried his head in the crook of her neck feeling her nod.

Trying to choke back tears Kagome held her kit. "I have to go Shippo...Wish I could stay here forever with you but the spell will
take me once my energy is gone. I'll never forget you little kit...You're everything a mother could want in a son."

"I wish you were my mommy Kagome..." Huge sobs racked the tiny body making it hard to understand him.

"Shippo, sweetling I already am...From the moment I first saw you I knew I was meant to help you, guide you, protect you." She
knelt on the ground holding the crying fox demon in front of her. "You may not be mine by blood Shippo but that can change." She
held out her palm a narrow cut appeared. "Only if you want sweetling." Shippo nodded eagerly holding out his tiny palm. A small
cut appeared and without hesitation Shippo sealed his palm to hers.

Kagome felt the rush as her energy fled into her son. What surprised her was when her sisters energy filled her moving into the
young demon. She smile when the power hit the kit and his eyes could only widen in shock before he passed out. Catching him
Kagome carried him to the monk. She tried hard not to cry but it was impossible.

"I'm entrusting him to you Miroku. Please protect him and raise him as your own. When he wakes up tell him I love him and...and I
miss him already." Before she could say anything else she flashed again. Fading and appearing before their eyes. "I don't have
much longer...must hurry." She moved away from her son held lovingly in the monk's hands.

"I don't have time to argue Inuyasha release her now!" Still the hanyou held tightly to his precious bundle. "I'm warning you hanyou
put her down! Last chance." Inuyasha still made no move to assist her. "That's it. SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT AND SSSSSSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!" The hanyou plummeted into the ground throwing Kikyo into the air. She landed not to gently on the ground but still said nothing.

"That's better...Now Kikyo I believe you have something that belongs to me." The miko looked scared. "Don't worry Kikyo I
promised not to hurt you." Under her breath she muttered, "even if you deserve it...Although this might hurt quite a bit."

The golden light filled her eyes surrounding her in a pale golden light. It reached out surrounding Kikyo, everywhere it touched color returned to her clay body. Only as the golden mist touched it the clay became flesh until her body was once again real and living. The golden aura faded to be replaced by the blue one and also a green one. Their combined powers washed over the once dead miko filling her with emotions, and a feeling of peace. Ignoring the stunned miko, Kagome walked to Kanna her mirror still held
securely in her small hands.

Slowly Kanna awoke smiling at Kagome. It was the first play of emotion anyone had seen out of her. Briefly Kagome spoke to the
young girl, quietly so no one could overhear not even the demons. Kanna's smile widen and she nodded eagerly. Kagome only
hesitated a brief second before she plunged her hand into the delicate silver mirror. Kanna froze eyes and mouth shooting open in
shock and pain.

Darkness poured through Kagome into the mirror. It pulsed outward into Kanna before it seemed to be sucked back into the mirror.
Kagome pulled her hand out of the mirror watching as the changes took Kanna. Her hair once pale silver now turned a deep raven
black like Kagome's own. The eyes that held nothing not even a sparkle of life now were a brilliant blue that sparkled with laughter.
A golden brown color took over her pale flesh making a deep tan that glowed in the light. Her white dress was really a bright pink
that contrasted to the vibrant purple of the flower in her hair. She was really a gorgeous child.

Finally Kagome's hand slipped free of the mirror it held a ball of white while several others floated around it. The human girl looked
at the dark warrior. "Thank you Lady Kagome..." She bowed moving towards Kagura who was only now waking up.

"Lady Kagome...What just happened?" Miroku stepped closer still holding the sleeping kit in his arms.

"Kanna was once a human child...A very gifted child with immense power...Naraku sensed this and killed her entire village to get
to her. She still defied him so he stripped her of everything that made her human. I just returned what was stolen...She should be
fine...Watch after her as well please..." She smiled at the monk ignoring the way his smile made her heart race. Slowly she
released the ball of light watching as it made its way to the frozen miko Kikyo.

It grew larger and larger until it engulfed her releasing a smaller white ball that flew into Kagome with an audible snap. She
collapsed to the ground losing the battle to stay longer. The last sight she saw as her strength faded was Shippo screaming for her
as he struggled to break Miroku's hold.

"NNNNOOOOOOOO!" She screamed as she landed solidly in her own time. "I didn't even get to say goodbye!" Her tears
overwhelmed her and collapsed into the waiting arms of her siblings. United at last after seven years they simply held her letting
her cry out her grief.
