Sorry I didn't update this weekend, but I had a friend's wedding to go to and it was a few hours from my house.

I want to thank those that have reviewed my story so far, gcdv and Megan Consoer. Here's another chapter, please enjoy and keep reviewing. It's good to know that people like this story.

 

Chapter 2: Another Surprise

Sengoku

 

The group was back at Keade's village resting and looking for rumors of jewel shards, Kagome couldn't shake the feeling that she was waiting for someone. Shippo has noticed Kagome's anxiety but hasn't said anything because he figures that if something is wrong she will tell them; however he is staying closer to her.

 

A mansion hidden in an underground cave

 

A tall woman with curly strawberry blonde hair is pacing the length of a stone room, in the middle of the room is a basin made of opalescent stone and filled with clear water; it is placed on a pedestal.

“Where are they?” she mumbles to herself as she continues to pace the length of the room.

Suddenly the sound of rushing footsteps can be heard coming toward the room she is in and a man with crimson streaked midnight hair and flashing dark sea green eyes burst into the room.

“Is it true?! She's been found?” He practically bellows.

The female winces her mauve eyes slightly “Yes it is; now please calm down brother and wait for the others to arrive, they should be here shortly.”

He huffs slightly but quiets down and settles for tapping his foot impatiently against the ground.

A few minutes later they are joined by three more females and another male, one of the females appears to be a child with smoky black hair and silvery eyes. The other male has sky blue hair and indigo eyes. The last two females appear to be twins; one has violet hair and amber eyes, and the other has amber colored hair and violet eyes.

“Alright Fate, we're all here. Now how about some details.” The female child asks.

“As you know Alecto has been located, it seems that we couldn't find her because her captor had up an ancient type of barrier, one that we hadn't thought to search for. She was…in a rather shocking condition, but she should be able to heal with sufficient rest - which she will get when she gets home.” Fate answered.

“Where is she now if she isn't there?!” The first male asked.

“Calm yourself War; it won't do any good to get upset. Koenma's detectives found her and released her; they have taken her to his office - she is currently disguised as a human.”

“How bad was her condition?” The second male asked.

“I'm afraid that I can't accurately answer that Tempest, but she was pretty beat up and from what I could get her torture has been prolonged and constant. I also believe that it was more than physical torture, but we will have to wait until we can speak with her to find out more.”

“But she will be alright, won't she?” asked the little girl.

“Yes, Harmony; once she can properly rest and get used to being around others again, at this time she may be a bit edgy - especially around lots of people.”

The violet haired twin nods slightly “When do you think we will be able to see her?”

“Once she returns to the house she likes to stay in. I suggest one of us go check on her when she returns home. Hope after that I think in a day or two we can start visiting her.”

The amber haired twin spoke “Will she be ready to continue here path?”

“Yes Destiny, she will. You above all others should know that well enough.”

War spoke up “I want to be the one to go check on her.” It was more of a statement or demand than anything else.

“Alright I figured you would, but approach her slowly. Also Kaneonuskatew has returned as well, from where he has been sleeping and waiting.”

“You mean he knows?” Harmony asked

Fate nodded “He does, he is waiting for her to return home now.”

 

Koenma's office

 

Alecto had been laid on a couch and Botan had tried to heal her but it seemed that there was something stopping her power. Botan, Koenma and the detectives were discussing her quietly while George had been put in charge of watching over Alecto.Unknown to them she had woken up and was listening to them.

“There is something weird about that chick.” Yusuke said.

“Angra Mainyu seemed to think that she had some kind of power and he wanted it.” Kurama stated.

“Are we gonna leave those restraints on her?” Botan asks “It seems kind of cruel if we do.”

“It may be for the best if we do, we don't know if she's dangerous or not.” Koenma answered.

Alecto sat up quietly and motioned for George to remain quiet, he was so shocked that all he could do was stare. Alecto glared in the direction of the others, not happy with the idea of keeping the restraints and collar on. She gathered some of her power around the restraints and collar as she stalked towards the group, George following behind her. She stopped about a foot away from them and clears her throat. They all turn in her direction and stare.

“I will not be kept like a pet or a prisoner any longer, you Koenma should know that is an unwise suggestion.”

“H-how do you k-know m-me?” Koenma stuttered.

Alecto let her illusion flicker enough for him to see, Botan caught it as well.

“B-b-but yo-you…”

Alecto nods “Yep, My lords and ladies are not going to be happy with your idea either, you should probably expect a visit from them soon. Anyway I thank you for getting me out of there but I have much to catch up on and do, so I must be going,” as she turned and walked away from them she gave a little push with her powers and the collar and restraints fell off, landing on the floor with a metallic clang before she disappeared in smoke and shadow.

“What was that about?” George asked.

“Alecto is a … complicated sort of being.” Botan answered.

“What did she mean about her lords and ladies?” Kurama asked.

“Those that claim Alecto as their own, as she claims them as hers.” Koenma answered, the little God pale and shaking. Just then six figures appeared out of the shadow.

“Koenma, what were you thinking?!” War ground out “Trying to keep Alecto like a prisoner!” His voice rising to a roar.

“War, please calm yourself.” Fate spoke calmly but an edge of anger of anger could be heard.

“Lady Fate I didn't know it was her, I-I never would have thought to do such a thing to one of yours.”

War growled at him “You had better never think anything like that you child.”

Harmony rolled her eyes slightly, “Relax brother, you can check on her soon.”

Destiny stepped foreward with Hope “Alecto is going to be working on a few things in the coming days and weeks, you and your detectives are not to interfere or stop her or those she is contacting.”

Koenma nodded and the six disappeared with a wave of Tempest's hand.

“What the hell is going on here?!” Yusuke yelled.

“Those six are Ancient beings; they have great power and great control in events that happen in and to the worlds. Alecto has been amongst them for as long as just about everyone else can remember and there are only a few that know how she came to be with them or anything about her really. Just stay away from her and what she is doing, we don't need to have problems with them, especially War - he is extremely protective of Alecto.”

{Hm, this sounds familiar somehow. I just can't remember…} Youko mumbled before going back to thinking.

With that done Koenma sent the detectives home and hoped that his father had not been informed about their visitors or why they had been there.
