Chapter 6
First Meeting
Kagome still sat were she was dropped out of the vortex. Her mind in a complete daze, not noticing the prying eyes that was surrounding her. She was in the middle of a park, or a highschool yard. She stood up and looked around. People were staring at her strangely, like she was a plague, infecting their fair city.
She began to walk away, away from the eyes that were glazing over her. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to protect her vulnerability. Her head hung low, she quickened her pace, and that's when she ran in a red headed boy. She looked up at him, her heart beating so loudly in her ears, even if did talk he did talk, she wouldn't be able to hear him.
"Are you alright?" He asked kindly, no hitch or tinge of anger present, holding her arms gently, steading her. She flinched when he held her, not from him alone but from previous wounds inflicted by Inuyasha. He looked down into the raven haired girls eyes. She lowered her head and he followed her eyes still. He bent down and cocked his head to peer into her lovely hazel depths, where he seen so many emotions engaged in a never ending war.
He let go of her. She still hadn't answered him and still had her head bowed down, she was mortified he guessed. He pulled on her arm. Seeing that everyone was still giving her piercing looks. He was surprised that she wasn't reluctant to go with him, a complete stranger. "I'll get you out of here." He said as he covered her body by his. Averting the judgmental glares of the public. He heard an almost whispered "Thank you." From the young woman.
Kagome's heart was steady, no longer pounding. She couldn't feel the eyes any longer. She had been a public person, that was until, it all changed when she went into depression and hid herself from the outside world. It was all his fault and there in her heart was an ever growing resentment for the hanyou, he had ruined her life, broken it beyond repair.
Whoever this young man was, she owed him deeply. Not only did he save her form the world around her, he wasn't angry with her for running into him. That was the last thing she needed, someone yelling at her, drawing more attention to herself, and what if he was violent? What if had struck her? She thought about it and asked herself the question. She would have laid where she fell, she wouldn't move and she wouldn't look at him. But the circumstances were completely opposite, he did none of these things and Kagome found herself safe with him.
After walking for some time, the young man offered to take Kagome somewhere to eat. Scared to say yes and even more so to say no, Kagome shrugged her shoulders, letting her head fall once again. His features stuck in her mind and she seen him more clearly when she shut her eyes. He was handsome, long red hair and beautiful emerald-green eyes. She was blissfully unaware of the pulling on her arm. She was being led into a restaurant, she didn't catch the name of it, but the inside was magnificent.
The floor was the regular restaurant carpet, but it was a dark forest green and panels of oak wood separated each table. Atop each oak panel was a glass sheet, painted with delicate and intricate designs, the colors were soft and calming. They were greeted by a heavily accented Chinese woman, who lead them to a table and seated them, took their beverage order and left.
Kagome was snapped out of her daze by the young man's voice. "Hello, I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself, my name is Kurama." He wanted her to know him by his demon name, not his human. For some reason he felt an odd comfort. It was a nice feeling. "I'm sorry for running into you." Kagome responded softly.
"Wow, you can talk, I beginning to think you mute." He said smiling. "Kagome smiled too. She guessed he was trying lighten up the conversation and overall mood. "No need to apologize, it was an accident. Want I really want from you is your name." He said smoothly as he pushed his hair away from his face. Revealing more of it to Kagome.
"My name is Kagome. Excuse for sounding daft, but where am I?" She asked looking around, noting the beautiful textiles on the ceiling. "This is the Panda(A/N: Yes we really do have a panda here where I live and it's quite yummy ^_~), my favorite restaurant." He answered "Are you hungry?" Not fully answering her question. She could have guessed she was in a restaurant, she needed to know the city. Hell, she even needed to know what continent she's on, for all she knew she could be in Australia or Russia. She wondered if she was in the same year she was in before being drug down into the past.
Kurama pulled the chair out and Kagome stood up, not really aware of what she was doing. "This is strictly a buffet restaurant." He pointed out, leading Kagome to the bars, filled with delicious, steaming food. She seen chicken balls and egg rolls, fried biscuits, regular chicken and so many other foods. Both picked up a plate, offered at the beginning of the buffet table. She couldn't pick out what she wanted so she followed Kurama, watching what he choose.
"Kurama, how much is all of this going to cost? I really need to know before I start picking anything out." She said looking down at her barren plate. "They have set prices, eat as much as you want. But I offered you food, the least I can do is pay for your meal." He answered sweetly, giving her a smile, assuring her that it was fine. "Are you sure?" She asked questioning his gaze with her own.
"Yes, know I insist, eat." He said nodding in agreement with his statement. Kagome nodded back and looked at the food. "Kurama, what's good?" She asked smiling, tilting her head slightly. Kurama smiled back and walked around the bar to join her and began to explain different tastes and textures of each unique food. Soon they were back at the table laughing and enjoying each others company, not talking about why she was there and where and when she came to be.
