Chapter 7

Playful Tidings

After their fulfilling lunch, Kagome and Kurama decided to take a walk, to get to know each other. With every passing second Kagome got a little more comfortable around Kurama and the other way around. Neither could tell exactly why they were getting along so well. Each having the feeling of being close friends.

Kagome watched Kurama, his emerald eyes dazzled and shone as the sun hit them. His hair was the most beautiful color of red. She mentally shook herself. 'Why am I thinking or even looking at his features? It's wrong, isn't it?' She looked back over at him, frustrated with herself. Her gaze was caught by his and she wasn't able to break it. Her gaze locked within his, she was tongue-tied.

Seeing her difficulty, Kurama decided it best to open his mouth and start a intelligent conversation with the raven haired beauty walking next to him. He cringed, why? Why was he thinking of her like this? They only just met, of course he did find her attractive and was more than happy that she ran into him

They walked into a park, a small one but big enough to house a tennis court and garden. Neither being in an sports mood they opted for the garden. Moving slowly through the roses, the pair admiring the beauty of each unique individual specimen, Kurama paying special attention to the unique individual standing beside him.

Odd feelings stirred deep down within his soul and he felt, well, happy. Never had a female made such feelings well up inside him. Each minute with her was making his day go a little better, brightening it with her radiance. Today hadn't started out too peachy for him. After being called to Koenma's office, along with his comrades, they were each laden with a heavy burden upon their shoulders.

Koenma hadn't been too clear on his assignment and Kurama didn't have a clue as to what quest was meant for him. Either to fix or make something, he was at a complete indecision. He was the smarter more intelligent one of the group and wondered if Yuseke, Hiei, or Kuwabara had figured their parts out yet. He cringed again, there he was being conceded, saying no less that his comrades were stupid.

But that wasn't true. Hiei was clever and fast. And Yuseke, hell if it wasn't for his friendship, bravery, and leadership, they wouldn't have a group. And as for Kuwabara, he was all heart. Even being dense and completely oblivious a lot of the times, he never let his team mates down, he came through in the tightest of pinches, even if wasn't as strong as Hiei, Yuseke, or Kurama, he still put on a brave face and stuck to the challenge.

Two hazel eyes traced the outlines of his face, her eyes roaming, she dared not go past his chest. She wanted to keep this friendship or whatever it was. She could tell he was in deep concentration, but his stare was upon her still. Not knowing what to do or say she turned and quickly became fascinated with the perfect roses before her.

Kurama sensed her stare and the quick removal of it. Although not in his true demon form, he could still sense many things, sometimes very strong and sometimes not. Watching the young woman peering into a completely closed in rose bud, he called her attention to another open one. Using his magical abilities, he prematurely opened the rose. Seeing that it was clearly not ready, he sped up it's life span, maturing it and caressing it with his warm embracing powers.

Watching plants and helping them grow was always pleasing to his eyes. He loved the rose, each one having a different scent and color, always different, like him. He turned Kagome around showing her the rose, with multiple colors and a petal pattern that Kagome had never before seen. It's sheer beauty was blinding, no words could express how truly lovely it was. Kagome still in complete awe muttered out in a single breath "It's Beautiful."

"You put that rose to shame." He said, not grasping what had just passed through his lips, and not noticing the smiling woman in front of him. Taking a few moments, he finally caught what he just let out of his mouth. Hoping Kagome didn't hear it, he brushed it aside. Wishing he could do so with his blushing cheeks too.
