Chapter 10

So many Differences

After the couple passed back into to time, they landed softy on the bottom of the well as if nothing had altered, just as if they took a long fall. Kagome was the first to emerge then Kurama.

Kurama stared in awe, around him not a single tree had been cut, it was a virgin forest. It was absolutely as he remembered in his younger years, when nothing had been disturbed in nature.

Kagome on the other hand didn't look as happy. When she was last here, although the brush had grown up, there were far less trees. Her eyes squinted and she looked around, half heartedly looking to see if they were even in the Feudal Era.

She didn't know, to be sure, she took Kurama's hand and made her way to the god's tree. After fighting her way through the brush and limbs. She found it. There pinned to the tree was the man she grew to love, then grew to despise. He was young. She could tell the difference now. At her last meeting with him, she seen that he was older, not much but enough that she could tell the difference between then and now.

She shook her head, not wanting to believe what she seen before her. Kurama squeezed her hand, making himself known, letting her know that he WAS there for her. She let go of his hand and turned to look at him. He peered into her eyes, there like the first time he met her, where the emotions, churning like the depths of the ocean.

He smiled and nodded. She turned away and stepped lightly to the hanyou, she wasn't sure what was going on, why he was pinned to the tree and why he was so young, unless....

She continued her walk, then reached the mammoth tree and made her way up the roots to the pinned hanyou. She examined the arrow, just like she remembered the first time she seen him. She brought her hand up to his face and stroked it, rubbing it ever so gently. Every memory she had ever stored away with him, was coming back, flashing before her eyes, playing out on his sleeping face.

She moved up to his ears and massaged them. She received no response, but what more could she expect, he was under the spell. She stepped back, examining his situation. The vines that were wrapped around him the first time, wasn't there. Had he been recently pinned to the tree? She shook her head and stepped back up to him.

She again looked at the arrow. She wrapped her hand around it, and gently tugged. The arrow, like the first time, disintegrated. The light dispelling around the two. Inuyasha slumped and Kagome was the first to catch him. Kurama eagerly helped. Even if he and Kagome were never meant to be shouldn't be a reason not to help.

Kurama took him and laid him on the ground. Kagome was on her knees beside him, caressing his cheeks and talking to him, just as if Kurama was not there. After several minutes, the first signs of movements could be seen and the golden eyes of a predator opened.
