Kag ome looked around at the place they stood. It had been eight hours since she had been taken by the cursed demoness who apparantly was an old flame of Hiei's. She felt a pang of jealousy rip though her at that thought.
Why do I care? I can't be falling in love again, not so soon after what happened!
Kagome turned to see the fire demon sitting in a tree, looking out at some far away place in some long forgotten time.
"Are you following me?" Kagome asked.
"Well, yes and no," Hiei replied.
Kagome walked to the base of the tree in which Hiei sat and hoisted herself into the lower branches. She stared at the silent, solemn demon for what seemed like hours before it felt right to speak.
"Who was she?"
"She... Angel... Angel protected me from the time the bandits who took me in after I was thrown out of my home, quite literally, until she became leader of the Elemental Tiger race. She disappeared a couple years after that, and I went after her. I found out that her own sister had kidnapped her, and I went to fight her. I wasn't... I wasn't expecting to fallhead over heels in love with her. She... It seemed like she loved me too... but now... after finding out that it was all a deception... the three weeks I had with her... they seem like a lie... But... I'm falling in love again... I can't tell her... because I don't want to get hurt again... but I don't think I can do this alone any more..."
"Is there anything I can do?" Kagome asked.
"Yes... and again... no..."
"What do you mean?"
"You won't want to help me. You're a miko, so I probably should be dead by now... I can't figure out why you haven't killed me yet..."
"Not all demons are bad. I only kill those that threaten the ones I care about," Kagome explained.
Hiei's eyes lit up, "So you could help me, then?"
"I'd love to," Kagome giggled.
"Meet me in the park tomorrow, 7 o'clock sharp," Hiei said before dropping to the sidewalk below.
***
*Hey Kurama, can you hear me?*
^Yes, Hiei, what do you need?^
*How do you tell someone you love them*
&You mate them&
*I don't want that... yet...*
@Fuck it, just tell the lucky girl, shrimp@
*Shut the hell up, Yusuke*
^Will you three please calm down?^
*Hn*
^Now, Hiei, you have to tell her in the way that seems best to you^
*You're a lot of help...*
******
Kagome walked down the darkening lane toward the park with fear in her heart. She had found herself head over heels in love with another demon, and she was powerless to stop it. She had no idea what was going to happen tonight, but it sent butterflies fluttering around in her stomach just thinking about spending time with the silent fire demon.
"Hiei!"
"Hai"
"So, what's up? How can I help?"
"Close your eyes," Hiei whispered nervously.
Her stomach clenched into a knot as she shut her eyes tightly.
She felt Hiei's hands in her hair as he pulled it off her neck. There was a touch of metal on her neck, and Kagome tensed, believeing it was the cold steel of his katana.
"Will you be my girlfriend, Kagome?" Hiei whispered in her ear.
Kagome's eyes flew open in seconds.
"Hiei..."
"I'm sorry. I knew you wouldn't-"
Hiei was silenced by Kagome's lips pressing against his.
"I'd love to be your girlfriend," Kagome whispered when she broke the kiss.
***
Angel sat in a nearby tree, a giant smile on her face.
So he finally came out of his shell. I hope she doesn't hurt him... I don't want to kill her.
"You shouldn't be spying on him. He might get the wrong idea," a sweet voice said from behind her.
"Kurama, I have a sworn duty to protect him. He knows that. If he loves this ningen as much as he says he does, then I must protect her as well for as long as they are together. I can sense something in them, though. Something that's going to change. It sounds insane... but I think... I think the miko didn't kill Naraku as well as she believe," Angel whispered.
"You're scared, aren't you."
"Yes Shuichi. Very much so."
Kurama dropped from the tree and Angel followed, knowing that he had something he wanted to say.
"I think you should tell Koenma about your fear," Shuichi said once they were away from the park.
"I can't. If I tell Koenma, he'll tell the miko, and I'll be as good as purified."
"I thought mikoes couldn't purify Elemental tigers because they're not demons."
"That's partially true. Mikoes cannot purify the orignal five: light, water, wind, fire and earth. Ice tigers, Blood tigers and Shadow tigers can be purified because they were formed from matings between the original five and several different kinds of demons. Because of that and the fact that I am part silver fox, I can be purified," Angel explained.
"Ooo.. That's not good..."
"I know. If the miko thinks I'm lying, she'll think I'm trying to seperate her and Hiei, and I'm as good as dead."
Neither noticed the dark haired spirit detective that was following them and hanging on their every word.
"Well, we have to do something."
"Come to makai with me. We can tell the others we need to see Yukina or something. I need to go talk to Sesshomaru anyway. Please, Shuichi, I can't go alone, it'll look suspicious."
Kurama shook his head for a few seconds, trying to clear out the dirty and dangerous thoughts; the real reason he had followed Angel into the park; and think about what she was asking.
"I'll go... but Yoko will be the better protection."
"I want you there Shuichi. I don't need protection. I need a Spirit World escort."
Kurama nodded slightly before turning and walking off.
"Yusuke, I know your there. If you tell anyone what yous just heard, I will personally see to it that you become a woman," Angel threatened.
Yusuke knew enough about the Tiger Demoness to know that she would make good on her threat, if necissary.
"Shit," he muttered.
***
"Where are you going?" Hiei asked Kurama as he headed for the door.
"Koenma assigned me to escort Angel into makai to speak to Lord Sesshomaru," Kurama lied.
"She doesn't need an escort," Hiei replied.
"Koenma thinks she'll need a diplomatic escort."
"Hn"
Kurama walked out the door and headed for the park where he had followed Angel the night before. He was worried about what would happen once they enter makai. Kurama was unfamiliar with Sesshomaru's section of makai, and was becoming scared.
"Don't worry, Shuichi," Angel said as he entered the park, "I know exactly how to get to Sesshomaru's castle."
"Oh, but I do worry. What if we run into trouble along the way? The only one who knows we're going to be in makai is Hiei, and I told him the wrong place, well, at least for the first part. I told him we'd be at Sesshomaru's palace the whole time."
"Don't worry so much, Shuichi. I know exactly where we're going first, even if Sesshomaru hasn't kept his lands as groomed as they were the last time I was here, Onigumo's cave should still be there, and that's where Naraku would be since the village was destroyed in the ancient demon attack."
Kurama nodded and followed her though the portal to the Western lands in makai.
***
There was a great clash of metal and a roar ripped through the world. The great Dog Lord slashed at the demons that were attacking the young human miko as she frantically bound the Shikon-No-Tama shards back into the jewel. It was only missing a single shard, the one that was in Kohaku's back.
"Sango! I need his shard!" she yelled.
"Can't it wait?" Sango screamed back.
Kagome sighed and turned. There stood her kit, fighting for his life. Rage boiled through her as she drew an arrow and shot it at the attacking demon. There was a howl of laughter as the demon disintigrated into a pile of dust. Naraku stood over InuYasha, prepared to land the finishing blow. Kagome knocked an arrow and pulled the bow string back as far as it would go. She didn't even bother to aim before unleashing the pink arrow into space. It found its mark and Kagome watched in triumph as the great Naraku fell into a heap. He disappeared, and with him went Miroku's wind tunnel. Kagome pulled the shard from Kohaku's back and fused it into the jewel.

"Great Priestess, you have fused and purified this Shikon-No-Tama," Midoriko said. "You may have one wish."
"I wish... for my friends to be truly happy," Kagome whispered.
"Though your wish is pure, this Shikon-No-Tama will not be destroyed. You shall remain it's protector. Sango's brother, Kohaku, shall be returned to her, without his terrible memories. Miroku will be given many children, and the woman he loves. Shippo wishes only for you to be his mother, so he shall return to the future with you. InuYasha shall be turned into a full demon, but he shall not be cold hearted. He will find love in a most astranged place. Sesshomaru will have Rin as his daughter and she shall be made inu youkai. Miroku and Sango shall be made into fox youkai so that they will have the length of life and strength necissary to see you again. Your work is not done, priestess. There is more to be done in your own time. You, too, shall be made into youkai, but not until you are deemed ready. You shall be the first of your kind. Your friends shall return to you in your own time. Do you understand?"
"I do," Kagome whispered.

*Three Months Later, in Modern Japan*
Kagome stood outside her house and stared down the street. Shippo stood next to her, trying to seem wide awake.
"If you're tired, Shippo, go to sleep."
"I don't want to," Shippo argued.
Kagome picked up the young kit. She turned her head down the street and jumped for joy. Miroku, Sango, three children, InuYasha, a demon she didn't know, Sesshomaru and Rin walked up the street side by side.
Sango spotted her first, and ran to the porch where she stood.
"KAGOME!" she cried as she embraced the girl before her.
"Oh Sango, I've missed you,"
***
Kagome looked at Hiei as he paced the floor. Angel and Kurama had left three days ago and still hadn't returned.
"He lied to me. Koenma had no clue about Angel going into makai. He said that he would've put more guards on her if it was a diplomatic mission and that they certainly wouldn't have been gone this long. I'm gonna deck Kurama when he gets back... if he's ok... If he's not... I'll wait until he is before I deck him."
"Who are you worried about more, Kurama or Angel?" Kagome asked.
"Angel can take care of herself and me at the same time. She'll be fine. I'm gonna beat the snot out of her for dragging Kurama along on whatever the hell she's doing. I guess that means I'm more worried about Kurama."
"They'll be fine, Hiei," Yusuke swaid as he entered Kagome's room.
"How the fuck do you know?"
"Because, I know where they are."
"Where are they?"
"They're in Sesshomaru's castle, awaiting his return from Totosai's forge."
"How exactly did you come across this information?"
"I was just there," Yusuke said.
"Did Angel tell you why she went?" Kagome asked.
"No," Yusuke lied.
"Oh," Kagome said.
***Three Days Later, Makai***
"There you are, Fluffy," Angel laughed.
"Here you are, Batty," Sesshomaru replied.
"Hey! No mentioning the bat shit around Shuichi. He's never seen me in Tiger mode," Angel laughed.
"Why not? You really are beautiful when you fly through the air like that," Sesshomaru said, making Angel want to hit him. She didn't want Kurama to see her like that, for fear that that would be all he would see in her after that.
"Oh, really?" Kurama said.
Angel groaned.
"Please?"
"Fine, I'll fly us out as far as the barrier extends, but then I'm changing back and we portal out, ok?"
Kurama jumped. He had always dreamed of seeing a tiger with power like that of Angel, a cross of all eight elemental tiger species and a silver fox. Her birth was even marked in beauty.
***
The 150 year old tiger demon stared out at the sky from her bed, where she held the beautiful tiger cub in her arms. She was a brilliant rainbow of colors, just like the moon that floated over makai that night.
"Angel... that's what I'll name you... for that's what you are... an angel..."
That was over 750 years ago.
***
Angel transformed into a beautifully colored tiger with the wings characteristic of light tigers extending from her sleek back. Her wings span measured a good fifteen feet, enough to rival even Kuronue, who was rumored to be dead. Kurama mounted her back and Angel took off from Sesshomaru's balcony. From there she flew South, towards Totosai's forge. Kurama looked down and realized that he was extremely turned on. The dark and deadly thoughts began to come back.
No! Don't think it. She could never love me! I'm just a human.
& A human that shares a soul with the greatest fox theif known to makai! &
Angel sniffed the air and realized exactly what was happening. She didn't like it. Not one bit.
"Shuichi, don't think like that. I can't be like this all the time," Angel growled in her native tongue.
"I don't love you only when you're like this. You're beautiful no matter how you are. But you could never love a human like me."
Angel touched down on the ground below.
"You're not just a human, Shuichi," Angel whispered.
"Oh yeah?"
"You're so much more than a human. I could permenantly fuse your human soul and your demon spirit, but you wouldn't be Kurama any more. You'd just be another version of Yoko Kurama. I don't want that."
"What do you want?" Kurama asked, believing the answer would be Hiei.
"I want... you..." Angel whispered before she opened a portal back to human Japan and shoved him thorugh.
Standing in front of them was Yusuke, Kagome, and Hiei, who hadn't left Kagome's room since Yusuke had shown up.
"Where the hell have you been? And why the hell did you lie to me?" Hiei growled.
"Forgive me, Hiei, but it was my fault. I asked Shu- Kurama to accompany me to makai to speak to Lord Sesshomaru about Totosai. I did not expect to be this long. I requested that he not tell anyone my reasoning for leaving so abruptly. But I would like a word with Kagome, alone," Angel said, cutting off Kurama.
Kagome shooed the boys outside and Angel placed a silencing spell on the door.
"That's not the only reason I went to makai. I'm not doing any of this to seperate you and Hiei, for the record. I don't love him like that. To me, he will always be a son. I went to makai to confirm or lay to rest my suspicion on Naraku. He is alive and well, and was living out of Onigumo's cave. When you refused the Shikon Jewel, you wished for your friends' happiness, correct?" Angel explained.
"Yes," Kagome said, trying to let it sink in that she hadn't actually killed Naraku.
"In doing so, you removed Miroku's cursed wind tunnel. Did you actually see his hand after Naraku disappeared?"
"No."
"I believe he simply covered it, believing he would tell you the truth later. He lost many memories from the last hours he was a ningen when he was transformed to inu youkai, and therefore he did not remember that Naraku was not dead. He simply assumed that because his wind tunnel was gone, Naraku was dispatched. He is currently fleeing the Western lands and headed here. You must protect your home. I have an early gift for you. Call it an early mating gift," Angel said.
Kagome blushed and took the package that Angel offered. Angel then opened the door and allowed the boys to enter. She handed Hiei a long thin box and gave Yusuke a smaller, wider box. To Kurama she bestowed a bag that he did not know she possessed. Hiei tore the paper from the box and saw a sheathed katana that lay within. He pulled it out and unsheathed it, revealing a blade that was both pure black and stronger than any material found in modern Japan, or any where else for that matter. Yusuker opened his box to find a set of black knuckles forged from the same material that Hiei's sword was made of.
"Your katana, Hiei, has many power, most of which can be activated any time you choose. However, the strongest attack can only be activated when you have trained yourself to use it. The knuckles, Yusuke, also have many attacks. All of them can be activated at any time you choose. I figured you'd be too lazy to want to train with them, so I won't bother telling you about their other powers. Both are made out of a metal known as adamantium. It is unbreakable, and will never corrode. It took Totosai fourteen years of research to create it," Angel said.
Angel then raced off to find Shippo, Miroku, Sango, Kohaku, Kuwabara, Botan and Keiko.
"She's insane," Hiei said.
"No, she's preparing us for the fight to come. We're all going to have to skive off school to train if we want to see our upcoming birthdays alive," Kurama said.
"Sweet," Yusuke said, looking at the knuckles in his hands.
