Chapter 3: Introductions

 

Kagome rolled over and gave her alarm clock a good whack. She peaked out from under her covers and gave the alarm clock a defiant glare. Finally daring to step from the cave of blankets, she rushed to the bathroom knocking over Souta.

 

“Hey!” he shouted.

 

“Not now, twerp!” she shouted from the bathroom. Souta stuck out his tongue to the door.

 

“Keep that tongue where it belongs!” Kagome snapped. Man, how does she do that? Souta wondered as he headed downstairs. The doorbell rung and he ran to answer. Opening the door he met a short woman with dark hair and three scars across her cheek.

 

“Raven!” Souta squealed and launched himself at the unsuspecting young woman. She gave a small `oof' as she caught the flying boy.

 

“Projectile caught, captain!” she saluted to Kagome's mother who came to she what caused her son's squeal.

 

“Raven, dear. Will you join us for breakfast? I believe Kagome is still getting ready.” Mrs. H (I have seen so many different names so let's just leave it at this ~Vixen) asked.

 

“I would love to, ma'am.” Raven gave a small bow.

 

“Raven, quit that this instant! I told you to call me Mom.” Mrs. H scolded.

 

“Sure thing…Mum.” Raven blushed. Souta gave a shout and jumped from Raven.

 

“Awesome! I've got a cool sister!” Souta ran into Kagome.

 

“Hey! What about me!” Kagome demanded with her hands on her hips.

 

“Come on, Kags. You know you're the best sis in the world! Who else fights demons in Feudal Japan?” Raven asked. Kagome gave a small smile at Raven. Souta looked at Kagome.

 

“Yea, I guess Raven is right. Sis, you're cool, but Raven knows cool stuff.”

 

“Why you little twerp, get back here!” Kagome chased Souta out of the living room and into the kitchen. Raven smiled to herself and followed `Mom' into the kitchen. Today she was dressed in blue jeans and hiking boots with a red sleeveless form fitting shirt. As Souta dashed by her she hooked her arm around his waist and pulled him down to the spot next to her. Kagome burst into the room and gave a small `thanks' to Raven before sitting herself down to breakfast.

 

Kagome shifted her yellow bag around while trying to get comfortable. Raven appeared next to her with a small bag of her own, only this one was green. She had put on a black jacket since it was chilly in the Feudal Era.

 

“Are you ready…Sis?” Kagome asked while looking over to Raven.

 

“Are you trying to get rid of me?” Raven smiled. Kagome shook her head.

 

“Never!”, and with that she jumped in the well with Raven right behind her. The familiar blue light surrounded them before the hit the dirt bottom in the Feudal Era. Both young women looked up to see a small Kitsune kit looking down at them. His green eyes widened before he let out a shriek and jumped down the well with them.

 

“Kagome's back!” he attached himself to her midsection while Kagome gave a small laugh. Shippo looked up at her and his tail gave a small twitch as he looked at the person behind her. He clutched her tighter as he became very still.

 

“Shippo, what's wrong?” Kagome asked. He looked at her from the corner of his eye, never quite looking away from the intruder.

 

“I believe he is trying to find out if I pose a threat or not. Smart kit you have there, Kags.” Raven smiled at Shippo. Kagome gave an `Oh!' before turning on Raven.

 

“Ray! I almost forgot! I am so use to you being with me I completely forgot Shippo doesn't know you! Shippo, this is Raven, my teacher. Raven, this is my kit, Shippo!”

 

“It is nice to finally meet you, Shippo. Kagome has told me so much about you and how strong and brave you are.” Raven gave a small wink at Shippo.

 

“Hi!” Shippo said before launching himself to Raven's shoulder and giving her a quick sniff. “You smell good!” Raven laughed. “Are you my momma's fighting teacher?”

 

“Hai, I am.” Raven replied while following Kagome out of the well.

 

“Yea! Can I help too? I want to be as strong as dog-breath so I can protect momma!”

 

“I don't see why not. Perhaps you could learn a few tricks yourself. I hear kitsunes are naturals when it comes to being elusive. That's something Kags needs to learn!” Raven whispered.

 

“I heard that!” Kagome turned around with her hands on her hips. Raven laughed again.

 

“I know you did, or else I wouldn't have said it!” she laughed again with Kagome joining in. By now, Miroku and Sango had entered the clearing.

 

“Lady Kagome, you have returned!” Miroku said and stopped. “And you have brought a friend?”

 

“Hai! This is Raven, she is my teacher that Midriko sent me! Raven, this is Sango and Miroku!” Kagome said cheerfully. Raven gave a small nod since she still had Shippo on her shoulder.

 

“I have heard such wonders about you from Kagome. I hope that you will trust me enough to let me join you on your journey.” Raven asked. Sango gave a small smile. There was something about the young woman that she liked. Miroku didn't have a doubt in his mind as he stepped forward and took her hand in his.

 

“Lady Raven, will you do me the honor or bearing my child?” he gave her a dashing smile. He missed the evil glint Raven got in her eye. Kagome and Sango on the other hand, didn't and covered their mouths to hide their smiles.

 

“Why, Miroku! I thought you would never ask!” Raven smiled. Miroku was stunned.

 

“Really?” he asked. Feeling a little unsure of himself suddenly.

 

“NO!” she snapped, giving him a little poke in a certain pressure point before he collapsed on the ground. Shippo jumped down and gave him a little shake before looking up at Raven. “Don't worry, Shippo. I have heard a lot of things about Miroku and decided that knocking him over the head wouldn't do anything to help his little…habit. Perhaps, if you behave, I will teach you were that little spot is. In case you find yourself in a tight bind.” Raven said. Shippo nodded his head before jumping into Kagome's arms.

 

“Raven, you must teach me that sometime.” Sango said while eyeing Miroku.

 

“It would be my pleasure, Sango.” Raven said before picking Miroku up and throwing him over her shoulder. Kagome and Sango looked on in shock, trying to figure out how someone as small as Raven could pick up Miroku. She noticed their shock and gave a small smile. “I am not all what I seem. Perhaps, one day, I will tell you my story.”

 

“Where's Inu Yasha?” Kagome asked Sango as they led the way to Kaede's village.

 

“He's around here somewhere. Miroku knocked him good when he went to get you from your time.” Sango said.

 

“I will have to thank Miroku when he is awake.” Kagome smiled at Miroku's bobbing head. Then, the said hanyou jumped from a tree and landed in front of the women.

 

“Wench, where have you been? You're late!” Inu Yasha crossed his arms while glaring at the two women. He hadn't noticed Raven with an unconscious Miroku.

 

“I am sorry, Inu Yasha. But I was introducing Raven to everyone.” Kagome said while moving so he could look at the woman. Inu Yasha snarled at the new comer and was a little surprised when she gave a growl of her own.

 

“Feh! We don't need anymore ningens!” he said while stalking up to Raven. She snarled as he got closer to her, not liking the tone his was using when he spoke to Kagome. It seems she left out the fact that he treated her like shit.

 

“Back off, Puppy.” Raven said low. Inu Yasha stopped.

 

“What did you call me, bitch?” he demanded.

 

“I called you a puppy. Got a problem with it?” she snapped.

 

“I'll show you puppy!” he growled and went to draw Tetsuiga when he was met with Miroku's body. He caught the monk with a `fetch, Puppy' and gave an `oof'.

 

“Good, boy.” Raven smiled. Kagome giggled and Sango laughed. The three women and one kit headed towards the village leaving behind a very pissed hanyou.

 

By the time Inu Yasha had dumped Miroku in the hut the women were already talking amongst themselves. It seems the old miko, Kaede had a lot to ask their new comer and Raven was more than willing to answer her questions.

 

“So my Lady, you are a fully trained warrior?” Kaede asked as Inu Yasha sat in a corner to watch.

 

“Hai!” Raven chirped. “Do not worry! Kags will receive the best training I have to offer.”

 

“I have no doubt about that. If the miko Midriko sent you, then you must be the best.”

 

“I wouldn't say that. I just understand; that's all.” Raven blushed while Inu Yasha gave a `feh!' “Want to add something, Puppy?”

 

“I could take you down any day, bitch.” He snapped. Raven raised an eyebrow and smirked.

 

“I am sure you can. But please, spare me now. I would not like to see Kagome's teacher taken away from her so early in her training.” Raven said quietly while glaring at the hanyou.

 

“Are you insulting me, woman?” Inu Yasha stood up with is hand on his sword.

 

“Of course not. I am just saying the obvious.” Raven said as she too stood up.

 

“Inu Yasha, SIT!” Kagome snapped. THUD. “Raven, I am sorry. He is just being stubborn.” Raven glared at the crater known as Inu Yasha and gave a small smile.

 

“I know, Kags.” She walked over to the crater and squatted next to the snarling hanyou. “There is more to me then you understand, Inu Yasha. I know you don't trust me and frankly, I see no reason to trust you. I will leave you alone and in return, I only ask that you allow me to continue to do my job and train Kagome.”

 

“Feh, whatever, wench.” He said as he went back to his corner. Raven gave him a smile before returning to the rest of the group. Kagome gave a worried look over to Inu Yasha but she noticed he wasn't as tense as he was before. I think he is going to get along with Raven just fine. They both have fiery attitudes. You would think they were brother and sister the way they fight. Shippo likes her well enough; it seems kids are drawn to her. There are no doubts Sango finds her a worthy companion. Perhaps she will become a sister to Sango like she has to me. Miroku, she sighed as she glanced at the now awake monk, he knows his place around her. I don't think I could be happier than right now.

 

Yea! There's another one done! Okay, I have been getting emails about pairings. I was thinking a Kurama and Kagome pairing even though there seem to be a lot of those. Perhaps a Kagome and Yuske pairing. I would like to pair Raven with someone too but I am not sure yet. I was thinking Hiei and having them have had a past meeting. Email what you think and I will keep all suggestions in mind as I continue! The YYH group will be in the next chapter! ~EvilLilVixen
