Hi everybody!! I come bearing a gift. I'll give you a hint: you have to scroll down, and it's not a toaster! That's right, it's the next chapter!! Yay-ith! To be completely honest, it's really the restof chapter 1, but I don't feel like going through a bunch of hassle to fix it.

 

Anyways, I don't own any of these characters or the awesome shows that they come from. However, that is not going to stop me from glomping on Hiei. He's just so cute and dark!! And, he's taller than me, which is a turn-on. But, that is beside the point.

Secondly, the plot is totally mine, and so is Ka'el, even though I hate him.

Secondly (or thirdly if you're keeping track X-D), Hiei will be majorly out of character, for a couple chapters.

P.S. I changed their ages, Hiei is now thirteen, and Kagome is ten and a half.

“No, Miko-sama. I do not yet have a last name as of this point in time.”

“Call me Kaede, child. I didn't really expect you to have a last name yet, anyway. Well, I must go. I hope that you and your friend enjoy the food, Ember.'

 

THIS TIME

 

Kagome bowed and began walking towards the food. Realizing that something was missing, she stopped and looked back. “Coming Flame?”

 

Hiei nodded and walked up to stand next to her, and they both made their way to the bonfire in the middle of the village. Sango and Kohaku saw them and smiled, waving them over.

 

“Hello. My name is Sango. I aided Kaede-sama in your healing. What's your name, and are you feeling better,” asked the energetic girl, concern in her eyes.

 

“Ch. Call me Ember, and I feel much better. Thank you for healing me, I greatly appreciate it.” Ember turned to Kohaku. “And thank you, taijiya-sama, for letting Flame and I use your hut and bed. You have my gratitude.”

 

Kohaku scratched the back of his head and blushed, causing Sango to raise an eyebrow at his behavior. “Call me Kohaku, Ember. I am at your service.”

 

Sango and Flame stared at the boy as if he had grown a second head, causing his blush to grow larger. Ember noticed this and giggled, distracting her new friends.

 

“Thank you Kohaku, but that won't be necessary. I have no need for a servant.” Seeing his crest-fallen look, Ember sighed. “However, I could always use a friend.”

 

The young lad grinned and nodded vigorously. Sango, Flame, and Ember all rolled their eyes. The four new friends got their food, sat down on a log, and began to eat. Ember and Flame had seconds, while everyone else was full. When they were all finished, Sango showed Flame and Ember to a spare hut that they could use. As soon as she left the room, the two noticed that there was only one bed. Ember frowned before turning to Flame.

 

“You may have the bed if you want. I prefer to sleep in the high branches of the treetops. The bark feels good on my back.”

 

Flame grunted. “I was about to say the exact same thing.”

 

@So let's go sleep outside, then. Oh, and before I forget, I leave for home tomorrow.@

 

$Lead the way. I promise not to follow you to your home. How long will you be gone for, anyways?$

 

They turned and began walking out of the hut. @I should be gone for about a week. Why?@

 

$Well, when you get back, do not come here. Do you know of the waterfall that is to the northwest?$

 

@Are you kidding?! That's what every girl thinks of when they dream of paradise! I picture it whenever I'm really angry. It's…kind of like my…happy place.@

 

$Hn. I'm glad that you think so highly of my home. Well, go there whenever you get back from your home. That is where we shall train. If you would like, I'll teach you swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat as well.$ Flame began blushing as he appeared to have no control over what came out of his mouth.

 

Ember blushed as well, causing the both of them to blush even harder. Finally reaching a good tree in the forest, Flame grabbed Ember around the waist and jumped up to the top-most branches before she could protest. Getting comfortable, they continued their conversation.

 

@I would like that very much, Flame, if you're sure you don't mind. And, as payment for the extra training, I'll teach you the art of healing with your monk powers and how to use a bow and arrow effectively. Meet you there in a week?@

 

$Hn, it's a deal.$

 

@Ch. Deal.@

 

And with that, both children fell asleep, holding each other, neither wanting to let go.
