Chapter 2: Discover something new

Walking with her head down, Asagao trudges up the shrine steps with familiarity. 'Ninty-eight, ninty-nine, one-hundred, one-hundred and....' She counts, each step she takes she feels worse having to think about the silence her mom will undoubtably bring to her. Reaching the shrine grounds, she sees her mom dressed in the traditional style kimono's shrine maidens where. Red hakamas, and a white haori. Looking at her mother, she carries an extra set of garments for her.
Cautiously retrieving her set, she changes inside the house, coming out and slipping on the wooden sandles. Walking to face her mother she keeps her head down, but Kagome brings her head up to face her directly. "I don't believe you'll be needing these anymore." Kagome says refering to the bandagese wrapped around her head and arms.
Pulling at the last strands of wrap, caked blood is all that keeps it bound to the skin, other then that, Asagao is healed. Tossing the used bandages aside, Kagome leads into a shed, where she pulls out two sets of bows and a quiver of arrows.
"Let us practice a bit shall we? This way, instead of fighting, you can have this to relieve your stress' with." Kagome smiles shortly to her daughter.
Smiling back unsurely, she takes the bow hesentantly.
Kagome wields the bow expertly and notches an arrow. Releasing the string, the arrow flies through the air and lands perfectly in the middle.
Asagao doesn't want to use her bow, knowing full well she's no good at it. Going to protest, Kagome looks at her sternly. Not wanting to upset her, she notches her arrow, aiming for the middle, but when she lets it go, it hits the ground below the target.
Wanting to throw the bow on the ground, break it and cry all at once, she settles with a simple, "I can't do it."
Kagome looks down at her daughters beaten form. "I suppose you can't." Asagao looks to her mother upset and hurt for her to say that. "If you keep telling yourself that, then of course you can't do it. Asagao, when I first picked up a bow, I couldn't even get my arrow more then six feet infront of me. You atleast made it to the target." Kneeling eye level with her, Kagome guides the bow and Asagao's hands to a posision just above the target, "With just a little practice," she releases, "anyone can make the shot." It lands just beside Kagome's first arrow.
Asagao smiles at the bit of warmth in her mother's teachings. "Thank's mom."
"Of course. Come, let us meditate a bit."

Back into her room, Asagao sits quietly on her bed. The sun set hours ago but she couldn't fall asleep. She wanted to go downstairs to call to see if Rei was alright, but didn't dare leave her room or have to risk seeing her mother.
Laying down she looks out her window, her curtains blowing from the open window. The sky is a deep blackish blue, the stars twinkling then fading to the bright lights of the city streets. Turning to her side to face her wall Asagao closes her eyes, praying for sleep. Tossing and turning she groans out loud. Sitting up she gives up on sleep for a while, walking over to her window she walks out to sit on the roof.
Cool morning breeze blows her hair back and forth as it dances in the wind. The silence calms her. Listening deeper into the world she can hear the faint sounds of horns honking and cars driving. Even this late at night people can still be seen wandering the streets, busing themselves with the tasks the world has for them.
Quietly, she lays down to look to the stars one more time, but as soon as she lays on her arms, she falls into a blissful slumber, dreaming of the world in simpler times.
Asagao wakes to the sound of small bangs. Half opening her eyes, small rocks are landing close to her head. A single big one happens to land on her for-head when she get the idea that someone is trying to gain her attention.
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she walks over to the edge and looks down. "Rei? What are you doing here so early? And why are you throwing rocks at me?" She says half heatedly.
"You had better wake up! School starts in twenty minutes!" Rei screams, wondering why she slept on the roof.
Hearing her limit she races to her window, jumping in and landing with a thud on her floor before grabing her uniform and jaming it on. Hopping on one foot to put on her last sock, she runs down stairs and grabs her bag off the couch and slipps on her shoes before meeting Rei on the porch.
"How much time left?" She asks while panting. Looking to his watch he says twenty minutes.
"You mean I got dressed in nothing flat?" Asagao asks amazed.
"No, but I knew twenty minutes would have made you come down faster then twenty-five minutes." Rei says while lauging at Asagao's twitching eyebrow.
They began walking and she was just about to hit him when she remembered. "Rei how's your head?" Her face goes from mad to worried.
Looking at her curiously, he rubbs the spot where he was hit, "I'm alright, just a bruse, nothing a few days won't cure." Looking at her more closely, he eyes her suspicously, "What about you? Yesterday you were bloody and beaten but today you don't have a scratch on you. Why not?" He raises his eyebrow comedicly.
"I don't know, but maybe I should get pounded more often." She says smiling. Rei looks at her to continue, she just smiles more and walks faster. "When I got home from the doctors, mom was all, 'do you have a problem controling your anger,' and I was like, 'no, why would I,' I thought she was going to be upset with me, but she actually made it so that we spent some time together, she helped me with my bow. We did a bit of meditation, and even did a few chores together around the shrine." Sighing happily her eyes cloud over at the memory, "Yeah... we haven't spent time together like that since I was small."
Rei looks at her happily, happy for her. "That's nice to hear."

Just before they made it to the turn to their school, Rei and Asagao look to see a boy in mangeta colored clothes walking with his hand in his pocket reading a book.
Whispering to Asagao's ears Rei says, "Let me guess, favorite color is red, right?" Asagao tries to hold back a laugh when the boy walks past them.
Not looking up from his book, he responds, "No it is not, as a matter of fact, its silver and gold." Both look at him surprised to see that he even heard them, let alone speak out.
Hearing that the first bell has already begun to ring, the two race off to class, hoping beyond hope to make it to class on time.
Racing into the class in the last second, they both squeeze past eachother to make it into the room. Mr. Mitsurugi greets the two with a quick, "Glad you could make it." Nervously making their way to their seats, they sit quieltly waiting for the class to quiet down before beginning.
At the last five minutes of class, Mr. Mitsurugi speaks out. "I am quite impressed with the reports I have read so far. And Mr. Akai..." He says looking agitated at said student. "I am realy surprised at your report. It sounds so precise and clever. Unfortunatly for you it has already been written." Slamming the paper on his desk the boy flinches. "Don't think I don't know, this is the exact wording on a biography about Nobunaga. If your going to cheat, try it in a less read subject." At that the class begins to laugh at Akai for being caught plagerizing.
When the final bell rang, students began to gather their things and head out of class. "Ms. Higurashi, can you stay after class a moment, please? I would like to speak with you on your report."
Nodding she waves Rei out to wait for her. Going over to see him she asks, "Was there something wrong, sir?"
"Yes, there seems to be a bit of added information. From my knowlede, there was nothing written about a reborn Kikyo, or even Lord Sesshoumaru having a ward, let alone a human one. Now I know you live in a shrine, so you may have more books then what's out there, but, where did you ever hear of such things?"
Asagao smiles happy that the teacher seemed interested in a highschool student's essay report. "It was something that was passed down through generations of Higurashi. My family is sayed to be direct decendents of the small group."
"Realy now?" Pondering over this little bit of information, he continues, "Well, wether it is true or not, I would like that my students know what is known and not through stories. I won't count it against you this time, but next time, use book references instead of hand-me-down fairy tales."
She was about to respond but refused against it. 'You just can't win against teachers.' "Yes sir."
Rei waited outside the classroom for Asagao to inform him on her talk. Seeing that she walked out seemingly disapointed, he assumed the worst. "Well, something you did wrong?" He asked worried.
Mumbling something about, 'teachers don't know enough' they walk to their seperate ways heading on to their own classes.

On the final bell of school, an anouncement was played, telling all students interested to come after school and try-out for track.
"Feel up to join?" Rei asked knowing full well that Asagao is a speedy runner. That's why she always gave him a two second head start at their races.
Staring at the buliten board, Asagao thinks things through on the subject. A little piece of paper with a black image of a person running, then a place for time and date are posted. "I don't think I'll have time, tourists will be arriving soon and I'll have to mind the shop if she's too busy."
"Thinking of joining Asagao?" The all too familiar voice of an all to familiar enemy, steps up from the side, and side bumps them away from the front of the flyer. Sakura's hand is bandaged from yesterday, and she seemed to be more angery then normal. "Why the hell aren't you in a body cast, sophmore?" With a slight push with her good arm, Asagao stumbles back a bit, and Sakura grabs the flyer from the board.
Rei trying to keep the fighting to a minimume, tugs away Asagao before things get too out of hand.
While being dragged by her best friend, Asagao yells out, "Damn right I'll be joining!" Before they turn a corner into the hall, and towards the fields. Stopping in the girls locker rooms for Asagao to grab her P.E. cloths for practice.
"You sure you want to do this?"
"You're the one who wanted me to try-out." Asagao says while pulling her hair up in a high pony tail. They open the doors to the field area, and shield their eyes from the sun.
"What about you, aren't you going to join?" Stepping out into the field, Asagao begins stretching before the coach arrives.
"Me? And compete against you? No way, I'll just sit in the corner and do the cheering." While he says this, he turns his head in the direction mentioned to see the school's cheerleaders practicing their cheers. A perverted glint in his eyes, he skips his way over.
Asagao mutters a 'hopeless' before turning to see the coach has arrived, along with Sakura and the other people interested.
The coach blows his wistle to get everyone's attention. "Line up everyone. When I come by, tell me your name's, and what you prefer to be called." Walking over to the front of the line, he begins jotting down names onto his clip-board.
While the names were being tallied, Asagao kept feeling a poke to the head. Choosing to ignore the child-like antics, her eyebrow begins to twitch furiously, until her pony tail was jerked back.
About to turn and swipe at the assulter, the coach buds in. "Do you two ladies have a problem back their?" He says, motioning to the two girls, Sakura and an alliance.
Smiling big and shaking their heads 'cutely' the coach proceeds, "Name?"
"Higurashi Asagao. Just Asagao will do." Writting down the information, he continues down the line.
"We will first test you all to see who can run the hundred-meter the fastest." Placing an orange reflecting cone on the starting line to the finish, the first two are up for the race, everyone else waits in the grass.
Having done four races, only three more to go. "Asagao, and Tsuei, your up." Both take their places, smiling a good luck to eachother, the coach has them go, and Asagao beats him no problem.
At the end of the day, only ten people were needed to join, the other four left, some glad to have failed, and others content to have atleast tried out.
Grabbing her bag from the ground, Asagao goes over to see if Rei is done flirting yet. "Ready to go?"
Rei sits disapointedly on the benches, no girl has taken his offer on going out with him. "Yeah." Brushing himself off, he walks beside Asagao, "So you made the team?" He asks while smiling.
Nodding they walk the street leading home.

With the Yu Yu Gang
Having been called for a recent breach in the barrier, the tentai are chasing a run-away demon down the main road of Tokyo. Yusuke and Kuwabara were first notified, being the easiest to convince to skip out on school, while Hiei was to wait to inform Kurama of the current activities.
The demon was a common lizard demon, keeping himself 'inconspicuous' by wearing a 'way-too-big' trench coat and hat in early fall. The sun reflecting from green and yellow scales, people looking over at the two teens, watching as they witness what they believe to be a 'mugging in progress'.
Panting loudly, the two teens take turns yelling profanities at the demon, scaring him even more to running faster to escape the rampaging duo.
Fanally, both Hiei and Kurama arrive behind the detectives. "What have we missed?" Kurama asks, keeping in pace with the struggling pair.
"The damn demon just runs! Never going anywhere in particular, just in a big friggin' circle!" Kuwabara practically screams at his team mate. Kurama stares disapointedly to the paniced lizard.
'Such a weakling to be running loose around Tokyo.' Kurama looks at all the pidestrians around, school has just ended, leaving the team with no where to aprihend the demon without giving away what it is. Even Hiei isn't allowed to use his inhuman speed to slice the demon and be done with the mission.
Turning once again to a familiar street corner, Kurama contacts Hiei, ~Hiei, try and get around to the demons side to lead it into a secluded area.~ Turning to find a street, Kurama motions with his head to a road leading to the outskirts of Tokyo where there is less of a busy location.
Nodding, Hiei does as Kurama says, appearing just to the right of the lizard, Hiei attempts a punch but the flinchy demon evades to skurry quickly to its left, streight to where it is wanted.

Asagao and Rei
Having quieted down their laughter, the two friends listen quietly to a sound of stampeding people. Turning to see what the commotion is all about, Asagao sees that a man is being chased by four boys. "What are they doing to him?" She asks worriedly watching as the boys move in closer. "Hey you! Stop that right now!" Asagao yells gaining the attention of the hidden demon.
Turning its dark brown eyes in the direction of the voice, the demon takes in the oportunity to run strate for the pair.
"Oh shit! No!" Yusuke screams trying his best to quicken his pace, skidding to make a tight turn to his left. Reaching out quickly, Yusuke misses the demon only by centemeters to trip on the curb.
Grabbing Asagao by the arm, the demon tries to keep a grip on her when Hiei only miliseconds later lands a strong punch and the demon is knocked away.
Asagao's body jolted awake the instant the demon touched her skin. But was gone before anything life changing happened. Her body feels tingly, a numbness flows through her body and she relaxes into the sensation.
Having managed to wrestle the demon into custody, Yusuke and Kuwabara carry it away to call Botan to open a portal leading to Reikai prison.
"WOW!" Rei says, having regestered that so much happend in the span of a few seconds. "What the hell just happend!?" He all but screams, his pupals dialated largely.
Glad that the boy seems to be fine, Kurama looks over to Asagao, seeing her standing unmoving. Worried at Asagao's unresponsive state, Kurama walks over and begins to speak to her and her companion in a soothing voice. "Are you two alright?"
Rei was shaking Asagao, trying to snap her back into reality, when Kurama tried is own plan. Placing a calming hand on Asagao's shoulder, he feels a pulsation emiting from her skin. Quickly drawing away, he looks to Asagao's blank eyes. 'Gold eyes? That is strange on a human.'
'What are you doing fox?' Hiei asks from his position besides Kurama, eyeing him warily.
~Do not worry Hiei.~ Trying once more to waken her, he cautiously touches her again.
A huge jolt of an electrical surge shocks both Kurama and Asagao. Letting go quickly, Kurama feels his hand burning with an invisible fire. His hand shakes and he looks up from his hand to Asagao's yelling.
Hiei unsheiths his katana prepared to battle the deranged girl but is held back by Kurama's good arm.
Screaming after the the electrical pain, Asagao is being swirled around by blue and pink elecrical bolts. Screaming and grabbing her head from the pain, Asagao falls to her knees, shaking her head furiously to shake away the pain.
Rei tries to help but is shocked away every time he gets too close. Turning accusingly at Kurama, he rushes over and grabs him by the collar. "What the hell have you done to her!" Rei yells closely to Kurama's face. Hiei was going to make a move to grab Rei, but stops when Asagao stops screamng.
Falling forward, Asagao cradles her body in her arms, her fore-head touching the concrete sidewalk.
Pushing Kurama away, Rei runs to the aid of his friend. Falling to her side, Rei places his hand on her shoulder, immediatly she begins to shiver with the touch, panting loudly and gasping for air. Grabbing both shoulders, he pulls Asagao up to face him, only to momentarily drop her and reach out for her before she falls backwards.
Under her lays a long white boa. Atop her head laying flat are two white dog shaped ears, twitching madly with each passing noise. "A-Asagao?" Rei looks to his friends face.
Asagao moans before her eyes open and flutter open-closed for a second, regaining her eyesite. Hissing in pain, she lazily moves her hand to rub a spot on her head. Feeling a bump, she tries to press it down, believing it to be her hair, only to feel pain when she pulls at it.
Kurama watches amazed as the girl Asagao feels the new apendages on her head. Hiei too, watches curiously, wanting to see more of the strangers behavior.
Asagao jumps to her feet feeling the strange new feelings of added flesh. Turning shakely to Rei she asks the question she doesn't want the answer to. "Wha- what happened to me?" Tears began to fall off her cheaks, her eyes wide in fright.
"Asagao... I think you should go home... Your mom may know what to do..." Grabbing at her disgarded backpack, he grabs at a mirror and opens it to Asagao.
Taking the offered mirror, she looks at herself, besides a bit of dust and dirt, her face doesn't look too bad. Quickly she faces the mirror to her head, and screams at the top of her lungs, dropping the mirror and shattering it on the floor.
Running at full speed Asagao rushes home.
Both Kurama and Hiei wait a second to watch Asagao run. Rei stands there looking disbelieving at Asagao's fading run.
Looking to eachother, Kurama and Hiei nod, knowing Koenma would want to know about this. Running after her, Kurama uses his comunicator to contact Yusuke and tell him what just happend and to get back as soon as possible.

Kagome was sweeping the walk path when a sudden jolt of energy came flying her way. Shocked at the feeling of demon engergy in her time, Kagome grabs a shaky hand at the jewel hanging from her neck. Dropping the broom and running for the shed, Kagome flings open the doors and grabs for her bow and a quiver of arrows.
Readying her bow, Kagome points the arrow at the shrine steps, waiting for the demon to get close enough to shoot.
Asagao just ran as hard as she could up the two-hundred and some odd steps of the shrine grounds. Her mind was set on going home and waking up from the nightmare she was thrown into. At the last fifty or so, she began to scream out, "MOM! MOM help me! Somethings wrong with me!"
Kagome hearing her daugters voice, lowers her arrow only to keep it lifted fearing that Asagao was being chased by demons. Sensing the closeness, Kagome was about to release her arrow when she saw Asagao fall to her knees panting from her long run, only to get up and as quickly as she can make her way over to her.
Kagome helping support Asagao from falling, looks at her shocked to find her demon characteristics after all these years. Sensing more approaching demon energies, she quickly notches another arrow and fires it at the followers.

Kurama and Hiei dodge the purifying arrow, jumping in opposite directions as it lands dead center of there last spot. Staring shocked at the small crater the power made, both look to their attacker, preparing for a fight.
"What do you demons want comming to my shrine?" Kagome says, another arrow notched and ready to fire.
Kurama tries to walk closer to Kagome but is stopped as an arrow lands at his feet.
"Don't move demon."
Staring nervously at the strength of the miko infront of him, Kurama tries to calmly convince her of a truce. "Please, we mean you no harm, we are just here to investigate. Lower your weapons so we may talk."
Kagome never takes her bow off of Kurama. Pointing it strate at his head, making him realy on edge.
When Hiei made a move to disarm Kagome, he his met with a powerful barrier that knocks him back a few feet, smoke coming from his scorched cloths.
Growling, that Kagome now has her arrow pointed to him, her muscles tense for release when she suddenly swings over to the shrine steps and release an arrow, after to hear a set of freaked out high pitched screams.
"Holy..! Urameshi did you see that!" A stund Kuwabara looks down at the mini nuc-crater just behind him.
Regaining his composure back Yusuke cracks a smart remark, "Hey Kuwabara, you should have let it hit you, seemed like Cupid had big plans for you!" Yusuke starts cracking up at his own joke. Kuwabara's ready to jump at him when Hiei and Kurama grab the oblivious boys out of the way of another arrow.
Asagao looks on with amazement as one after another her mother's arrows glowed with a pink fire. 'Wow...'
"Man what's with the attack?" Yusuke runs out from the trees where they had jumped to safety, into the clearing of the shrine grounds.
"You are the only men here, now leave!" Kagome demands, thretening them with another arrow.
Surprised that a person who looks so young, plus is a girl, has the power that she does. "Listen lady, were just here to get the girl then we'll be on our merry way, so if you don't mind..." But he was cut off when Kagome angrily yelled out.
"What do you want with my daughter?!"
Kuwabara looks back from Kagome to Asagao disbelieving that she was a mom to someone that old. "Your her mother? Sister I can believe, but mom?! No way! When did you have her when you were nine?"
Asagao's eyebrow begins to twitch. 'Why does everyone think we're sisters?'
The other detectives look at Kuwabara embarrased.
Kagome looks at the boy curiously, "You boy, with the orange hair, I am willing to speak with you but keep your demon friends at bay." Kuwabara looks around for another orange haired kid until he looks back to her and points to himself. Kagome hides a laugh and nods her head.
While he walks over Yusuke calls out that it's a trap and leaps to catch up with Kuwabara but is pushed back by the same barrier that Hiei met with.
Kuwabara looks back to his fallen friend, "What happened to you Urameshi?" He asks looking at his friend twitching on the floor with smoke coming from his cloths. Shrudding his shoulders and walking forward he stops when Kagome lowers her bow to the ground.
"What do you want with Asagao?" Asagao stands up from her place behind her mom and looks around her. The 'demons' are looking adjitated and the guy infront of her looks like he's trying to be intimidating.
'I'm sorry guy, but that hair just doesn't scare.' Asagao thinks listening on the conversation about her.
"No" Kagome says sternly to the orange haired guy. His ego seemed to deflate when his puffed out chest went to a slump. "I will not let her go with you. I don't care who he is."
"But-" Kuwabara tries to explain but is stopped when Kagome brings her arrow eye level to him.
"I do not want my daughter to be treated like a freak." Asagao looks to her mother curiously shocked at the little bit of information. "Leave now, or I will be forced to kill you all."
Kuwabara stares at the arrow just infront of him cross-eyed before nodding and walking slowly back to the group. As soon as Kuwabara was out of the proximity of the barrier, Yusuke grabbed him and dragged him away before something else happened.
Each of the Tentai look to eachother before turning back to Kagome and Asagao. "Know that we will be back lady!" Yusuke says before they all leave faster then they arrived.

A/N: OK people, whoever is reading this know this, at the time I do NOT have the internet. I moved back to Texas and my dad got rid of Roadrunner. Now I am internet-less and have no way to put this in. So when you do read this, it was finished on the 27th of July, and I may have to wait for school to put this up, that is only if I can sneek in the disk to use it in the library, cause our public library also doesn't allow people to use outside disks or anyother thing that can carry a virus. They don't even let you check your email. T-T At the moment I am writing this, I have been trying to convince my dad that I NEED the internet. Plus, if I do a good enough job, buy new software so that my ten year old computer can have an upgrade to posibly a new one, or just something that has spell check, so for all the misspelled words, sorry, but I don't have anything to fix it with. ALSO!!! It may not be for a while cause we are kinda in a bind for money at the moment. My big brother checks the mail and has been loosing my dads bills so we are behind on a few, plus my dad has his credit maxed out and has a $12,000 dept to pay, luckly, he's responsible, and I think he only said the whole dept thing so that I don't ask for money... not like I do anyways. Seriously, I'm the responsible one.
On a different note, people also claim that my mom is my sister and I HATE IT!!! She's like 37 and people think she looks young. It's only cause she's short and still has long hair. It's only good for me cause I know that my genes atleast tell me that I will age gracefully cause my dads gonna hit 50 in a few years, he's I think 44-45? and he is dating a 21 year old. Isn't genetics great? ^-^ I hope it doesn't take me too long to get this out.

9/5 A/N Ok people, again, no internet. My school is being renevated and the school library is not up just yet. Plus, it wont be for another month before we're allowed to use the internet because we have these ID cards at our school and they say if you have permission from a parent to use the internet. So without them... we can't. Plus with the whole Hurrican thing, things are pretty bad right now. Some of the refugies are comming to San Antonio, which is close by, and from what I've been hearing on the news, the people aren't being gracious for the help. Sorry if this is sounding mean or anything but it only matters that their all alright and that help on it's way. Hopefully more will arrive soon cause, the people realy need it. Ok no more blabbing, this isn't the news or anything. So still no internet... For those of you who read these... you know whats going on.
9/21 A/N Ok... again, no internet, obviously, now I'm just writing this as my date book so you all know that I still remember about these! I'm writing another story called "The Solo Adventures of Youko Kurama" so if you have a chance I'd like some feedback on that story too. Positive note, I don't have school tomorrow or friday because of Hurricane Rita. ^-^ Yes, it's deadly, yes, I may die, but atleast I'll be home, relaxing with my non-existent family.

Chapter 2: Discover something new

Walking with her head down, Asagao trudges up the shrine steps with familiarity. 'Ninty-eight, ninty-nine, one-hundred, one-hundred and....' She counts, each step she takes she feels worse having to think about the silence her mom will undoubtably bring to her. Reaching the shrine grounds, she sees her mom dressed in the traditional style kimono's shrine maidens where. Red hakamas, and a white haori. Looking at her mother, she carries an extra set of garments for her.
Cautiously retrieving her set, she changes inside the house, coming out and slipping on the wooden sandles. Walking to face her mother she keeps her head down, but Kagome brings her head up to face her directly. "I don't believe you'll be needing these anymore." Kagome says refering to the bandagese wrapped around her head and arms.
Pulling at the last strands of wrap, caked blood is all that keeps it bound to the skin, other then that, Asagao is healed. Tossing the used bandages aside, Kagome leads into a shed, where she pulls out two sets of bows and a quiver of arrows.
"Let us practice a bit shall we? This way, instead of fighting, you can have this to relieve your stress' with." Kagome smiles shortly to her daughter.
Smiling back unsurely, she takes the bow hesentantly.
Kagome wields the bow expertly and notches an arrow. Releasing the string, the arrow flies through the air and lands perfectly in the middle.
Asagao doesn't want to use her bow, knowing full well she's no good at it. Going to protest, Kagome looks at her sternly. Not wanting to upset her, she notches her arrow, aiming for the middle, but when she lets it go, it hits the ground below the target.
Wanting to throw the bow on the ground, break it and cry all at once, she settles with a simple, "I can't do it."
Kagome looks down at her daughters beaten form. "I suppose you can't." Asagao looks to her mother upset and hurt for her to say that. "If you keep telling yourself that, then of course you can't do it. Asagao, when I first picked up a bow, I couldn't even get my arrow more then six feet infront of me. You atleast made it to the target." Kneeling eye level with her, Kagome guides the bow and Asagao's hands to a posision just above the target, "With just a little practice," she releases, "anyone can make the shot." It lands just beside Kagome's first arrow.
Asagao smiles at the bit of warmth in her mother's teachings. "Thank's mom."
"Of course. Come, let us meditate a bit."

Back into her room, Asagao sits quietly on her bed. The sun set hours ago but she couldn't fall asleep. She wanted to go downstairs to call to see if Rei was alright, but didn't dare leave her room or have to risk seeing her mother.
Laying down she looks out her window, her curtains blowing from the open window. The sky is a deep blackish blue, the stars twinkling then fading to the bright lights of the city streets. Turning to her side to face her wall Asagao closes her eyes, praying for sleep. Tossing and turning she groans out loud. Sitting up she gives up on sleep for a while, walking over to her window she walks out to sit on the roof.
Cool morning breeze blows her hair back and forth as it dances in the wind. The silence calms her. Listening deeper into the world she can hear the faint sounds of horns honking and cars driving. Even this late at night people can still be seen wandering the streets, busing themselves with the tasks the world has for them.
Quietly, she lays down to look to the stars one more time, but as soon as she lays on her arms, she falls into a blissful slumber, dreaming of the world in simpler times.
Asagao wakes to the sound of small bangs. Half opening her eyes, small rocks are landing close to her head. A single big one happens to land on her for-head when she get the idea that someone is trying to gain her attention.
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she walks over to the edge and looks down. "Rei? What are you doing here so early? And why are you throwing rocks at me?" She says half heatedly.
"You had better wake up! School starts in twenty minutes!" Rei screams, wondering why she slept on the roof.
Hearing her limit she races to her window, jumping in and landing with a thud on her floor before grabing her uniform and jaming it on. Hopping on one foot to put on her last sock, she runs down stairs and grabs her bag off the couch and slipps on her shoes before meeting Rei on the porch.
"How much time left?" She asks while panting. Looking to his watch he says twenty minutes.
"You mean I got dressed in nothing flat?" Asagao asks amazed.
"No, but I knew twenty minutes would have made you come down faster then twenty-five minutes." Rei says while lauging at Asagao's twitching eyebrow.
They began walking and she was just about to hit him when she remembered. "Rei how's your head?" Her face goes from mad to worried.
Looking at her curiously, he rubbs the spot where he was hit, "I'm alright, just a bruse, nothing a few days won't cure." Looking at her more closely, he eyes her suspicously, "What about you? Yesterday you were bloody and beaten but today you don't have a scratch on you. Why not?" He raises his eyebrow comedicly.
"I don't know, but maybe I should get pounded more often." She says smiling. Rei looks at her to continue, she just smiles more and walks faster. "When I got home from the doctors, mom was all, 'do you have a problem controling your anger,' and I was like, 'no, why would I,' I thought she was going to be upset with me, but she actually made it so that we spent some time together, she helped me with my bow. We did a bit of meditation, and even did a few chores together around the shrine." Sighing happily her eyes cloud over at the memory, "Yeah... we haven't spent time together like that since I was small."
Rei looks at her happily, happy for her. "That's nice to hear."

Just before they made it to the turn to their school, Rei and Asagao look to see a boy in mangeta colored clothes walking with his hand in his pocket reading a book.
Whispering to Asagao's ears Rei says, "Let me guess, favorite color is red, right?" Asagao tries to hold back a laugh when the boy walks past them.
Not looking up from his book, he responds, "No it is not, as a matter of fact, its silver and gold." Both look at him surprised to see that he even heard them, let alone speak out.
Hearing that the first bell has already begun to ring, the two race off to class, hoping beyond hope to make it to class on time.
Racing into the class in the last second, they both squeeze past eachother to make it into the room. Mr. Mitsurugi greets the two with a quick, "Glad you could make it." Nervously making their way to their seats, they sit quieltly waiting for the class to quiet down before beginning.
At the last five minutes of class, Mr. Mitsurugi speaks out. "I am quite impressed with the reports I have read so far. And Mr. Akai..." He says looking agitated at said student. "I am realy surprised at your report. It sounds so precise and clever. Unfortunatly for you it has already been written." Slamming the paper on his desk the boy flinches. "Don't think I don't know, this is the exact wording on a biography about Nobunaga. If your going to cheat, try it in a less read subject." At that the class begins to laugh at Akai for being caught plagerizing.
When the final bell rang, students began to gather their things and head out of class. "Ms. Higurashi, can you stay after class a moment, please? I would like to speak with you on your report."
Nodding she waves Rei out to wait for her. Going over to see him she asks, "Was there something wrong, sir?"
"Yes, there seems to be a bit of added information. From my knowlede, there was nothing written about a reborn Kikyo, or even Lord Sesshoumaru having a ward, let alone a human one. Now I know you live in a shrine, so you may have more books then what's out there, but, where did you ever hear of such things?"
Asagao smiles happy that the teacher seemed interested in a highschool student's essay report. "It was something that was passed down through generations of Higurashi. My family is sayed to be direct decendents of the small group."
"Realy now?" Pondering over this little bit of information, he continues, "Well, wether it is true or not, I would like that my students know what is known and not through stories. I won't count it against you this time, but next time, use book references instead of hand-me-down fairy tales."
She was about to respond but refused against it. 'You just can't win against teachers.' "Yes sir."
Rei waited outside the classroom for Asagao to inform him on her talk. Seeing that she walked out seemingly disapointed, he assumed the worst. "Well, something you did wrong?" He asked worried.
Mumbling something about, 'teachers don't know enough' they walk to their seperate ways heading on to their own classes.

On the final bell of school, an anouncement was played, telling all students interested to come after school and try-out for track.
"Feel up to join?" Rei asked knowing full well that Asagao is a speedy runner. That's why she always gave him a two second head start at their races.
Staring at the buliten board, Asagao thinks things through on the subject. A little piece of paper with a black image of a person running, then a place for time and date are posted. "I don't think I'll have time, tourists will be arriving soon and I'll have to mind the shop if she's too busy."
"Thinking of joining Asagao?" The all too familiar voice of an all to familiar enemy, steps up from the side, and side bumps them away from the front of the flyer. Sakura's hand is bandaged from yesterday, and she seemed to be more angery then normal. "Why the hell aren't you in a body cast, sophmore?" With a slight push with her good arm, Asagao stumbles back a bit, and Sakura grabs the flyer from the board.
Rei trying to keep the fighting to a minimume, tugs away Asagao before things get too out of hand.
While being dragged by her best friend, Asagao yells out, "Damn right I'll be joining!" Before they turn a corner into the hall, and towards the fields. Stopping in the girls locker rooms for Asagao to grab her P.E. cloths for practice.
"You sure you want to do this?"
"You're the one who wanted me to try-out." Asagao says while pulling her hair up in a high pony tail. They open the doors to the field area, and shield their eyes from the sun.
"What about you, aren't you going to join?" Stepping out into the field, Asagao begins stretching before the coach arrives.
"Me? And compete against you? No way, I'll just sit in the corner and do the cheering." While he says this, he turns his head in the direction mentioned to see the school's cheerleaders practicing their cheers. A perverted glint in his eyes, he skips his way over.
Asagao mutters a 'hopeless' before turning to see the coach has arrived, along with Sakura and the other people interested.
The coach blows his wistle to get everyone's attention. "Line up everyone. When I come by, tell me your name's, and what you prefer to be called." Walking over to the front of the line, he begins jotting down names onto his clip-board.
While the names were being tallied, Asagao kept feeling a poke to the head. Choosing to ignore the child-like antics, her eyebrow begins to twitch furiously, until her pony tail was jerked back.
About to turn and swipe at the assulter, the coach buds in. "Do you two ladies have a problem back their?" He says, motioning to the two girls, Sakura and an alliance.
Smiling big and shaking their heads 'cutely' the coach proceeds, "Name?"
"Higurashi Asagao. Just Asagao will do." Writting down the information, he continues down the line.
"We will first test you all to see who can run the hundred-meter the fastest." Placing an orange reflecting cone on the starting line to the finish, the first two are up for the race, everyone else waits in the grass.
Having done four races, only three more to go. "Asagao, and Tsuei, your up." Both take their places, smiling a good luck to eachother, the coach has them go, and Asagao beats him no problem.
At the end of the day, only ten people were needed to join, the other four left, some glad to have failed, and others content to have atleast tried out.
Grabbing her bag from the ground, Asagao goes over to see if Rei is done flirting yet. "Ready to go?"
Rei sits disapointedly on the benches, no girl has taken his offer on going out with him. "Yeah." Brushing himself off, he walks beside Asagao, "So you made the team?" He asks while smiling.
Nodding they walk the street leading home.

With the Yu Yu Gang
Having been called for a recent breach in the barrier, the tentai are chasing a run-away demon down the main road of Tokyo. Yusuke and Kuwabara were first notified, being the easiest to convince to skip out on school, while Hiei was to wait to inform Kurama of the current activities.
The demon was a common lizard demon, keeping himself 'inconspicuous' by wearing a 'way-too-big' trench coat and hat in early fall. The sun reflecting from green and yellow scales, people looking over at the two teens, watching as they witness what they believe to be a 'mugging in progress'.
Panting loudly, the two teens take turns yelling profanities at the demon, scaring him even more to running faster to escape the rampaging duo.
Fanally, both Hiei and Kurama arrive behind the detectives. "What have we missed?" Kurama asks, keeping in pace with the struggling pair.
"The damn demon just runs! Never going anywhere in particular, just in a big friggin' circle!" Kuwabara practically screams at his team mate. Kurama stares disapointedly to the paniced lizard.
'Such a weakling to be running loose around Tokyo.' Kurama looks at all the pidestrians around, school has just ended, leaving the team with no where to aprihend the demon without giving away what it is. Even Hiei isn't allowed to use his inhuman speed to slice the demon and be done with the mission.
Turning once again to a familiar street corner, Kurama contacts Hiei, ~Hiei, try and get around to the demons side to lead it into a secluded area.~ Turning to find a street, Kurama motions with his head to a road leading to the outskirts of Tokyo where there is less of a busy location.
Nodding, Hiei does as Kurama says, appearing just to the right of the lizard, Hiei attempts a punch but the flinchy demon evades to skurry quickly to its left, streight to where it is wanted.

Asagao and Rei
Having quieted down their laughter, the two friends listen quietly to a sound of stampeding people. Turning to see what the commotion is all about, Asagao sees that a man is being chased by four boys. "What are they doing to him?" She asks worriedly watching as the boys move in closer. "Hey you! Stop that right now!" Asagao yells gaining the attention of the hidden demon.
Turning its dark brown eyes in the direction of the voice, the demon takes in the oportunity to run strate for the pair.
"Oh shit! No!" Yusuke screams trying his best to quicken his pace, skidding to make a tight turn to his left. Reaching out quickly, Yusuke misses the demon only by centemeters to trip on the curb.
Grabbing Asagao by the arm, the demon tries to keep a grip on her when Hiei only miliseconds later lands a strong punch and the demon is knocked away.
Asagao's body jolted awake the instant the demon touched her skin. But was gone before anything life changing happened. Her body feels tingly, a numbness flows through her body and she relaxes into the sensation.
Having managed to wrestle the demon into custody, Yusuke and Kuwabara carry it away to call Botan to open a portal leading to Reikai prison.
"WOW!" Rei says, having regestered that so much happend in the span of a few seconds. "What the hell just happend!?" He all but screams, his pupals dialated largely.
Glad that the boy seems to be fine, Kurama looks over to Asagao, seeing her standing unmoving. Worried at Asagao's unresponsive state, Kurama walks over and begins to speak to her and her companion in a soothing voice. "Are you two alright?"
Rei was shaking Asagao, trying to snap her back into reality, when Kurama tried is own plan. Placing a calming hand on Asagao's shoulder, he feels a pulsation emiting from her skin. Quickly drawing away, he looks to Asagao's blank eyes. 'Gold eyes? That is strange on a human.'
'What are you doing fox?' Hiei asks from his position besides Kurama, eyeing him warily.
~Do not worry Hiei.~ Trying once more to waken her, he cautiously touches her again.
A huge jolt of an electrical surge shocks both Kurama and Asagao. Letting go quickly, Kurama feels his hand burning with an invisible fire. His hand shakes and he looks up from his hand to Asagao's yelling.
Hiei unsheiths his katana prepared to battle the deranged girl but is held back by Kurama's good arm.
Screaming after the the electrical pain, Asagao is being swirled around by blue and pink elecrical bolts. Screaming and grabbing her head from the pain, Asagao falls to her knees, shaking her head furiously to shake away the pain.
Rei tries to help but is shocked away every time he gets too close. Turning accusingly at Kurama, he rushes over and grabs him by the collar. "What the hell have you done to her!" Rei yells closely to Kurama's face. Hiei was going to make a move to grab Rei, but stops when Asagao stops screamng.
Falling forward, Asagao cradles her body in her arms, her fore-head touching the concrete sidewalk.
Pushing Kurama away, Rei runs to the aid of his friend. Falling to her side, Rei places his hand on her shoulder, immediatly she begins to shiver with the touch, panting loudly and gasping for air. Grabbing both shoulders, he pulls Asagao up to face him, only to momentarily drop her and reach out for her before she falls backwards.
Under her lays a long white boa. Atop her head laying flat are two white dog shaped ears, twitching madly with each passing noise. "A-Asagao?" Rei looks to his friends face.
Asagao moans before her eyes open and flutter open-closed for a second, regaining her eyesite. Hissing in pain, she lazily moves her hand to rub a spot on her head. Feeling a bump, she tries to press it down, believing it to be her hair, only to feel pain when she pulls at it.
Kurama watches amazed as the girl Asagao feels the new apendages on her head. Hiei too, watches curiously, wanting to see more of the strangers behavior.
Asagao jumps to her feet feeling the strange new feelings of added flesh. Turning shakely to Rei she asks the question she doesn't want the answer to. "Wha- what happened to me?" Tears began to fall off her cheaks, her eyes wide in fright.
"Asagao... I think you should go home... Your mom may know what to do..." Grabbing at her disgarded backpack, he grabs at a mirror and opens it to Asagao.
Taking the offered mirror, she looks at herself, besides a bit of dust and dirt, her face doesn't look too bad. Quickly she faces the mirror to her head, and screams at the top of her lungs, dropping the mirror and shattering it on the floor.
Running at full speed Asagao rushes home.
Both Kurama and Hiei wait a second to watch Asagao run. Rei stands there looking disbelieving at Asagao's fading run.
Looking to eachother, Kurama and Hiei nod, knowing Koenma would want to know about this. Running after her, Kurama uses his comunicator to contact Yusuke and tell him what just happend and to get back as soon as possible.

Kagome was sweeping the walk path when a sudden jolt of energy came flying her way. Shocked at the feeling of demon engergy in her time, Kagome grabs a shaky hand at the jewel hanging from her neck. Dropping the broom and running for the shed, Kagome flings open the doors and grabs for her bow and a quiver of arrows.
Readying her bow, Kagome points the arrow at the shrine steps, waiting for the demon to get close enough to shoot.
Asagao just ran as hard as she could up the two-hundred and some odd steps of the shrine grounds. Her mind was set on going home and waking up from the nightmare she was thrown into. At the last fifty or so, she began to scream out, "MOM! MOM help me! Somethings wrong with me!"
Kagome hearing her daugters voice, lowers her arrow only to keep it lifted fearing that Asagao was being chased by demons. Sensing the closeness, Kagome was about to release her arrow when she saw Asagao fall to her knees panting from her long run, only to get up and as quickly as she can make her way over to her.
Kagome helping support Asagao from falling, looks at her shocked to find her demon characteristics after all these years. Sensing more approaching demon energies, she quickly notches another arrow and fires it at the followers.

Kurama and Hiei dodge the purifying arrow, jumping in opposite directions as it lands dead center of there last spot. Staring shocked at the small crater the power made, both look to their attacker, preparing for a fight.
"What do you demons want comming to my shrine?" Kagome says, another arrow notched and ready to fire.
Kurama tries to walk closer to Kagome but is stopped as an arrow lands at his feet.
"Don't move demon."
Staring nervously at the strength of the miko infront of him, Kurama tries to calmly convince her of a truce. "Please, we mean you no harm, we are just here to investigate. Lower your weapons so we may talk."
Kagome never takes her bow off of Kurama. Pointing it strate at his head, making him realy on edge.
When Hiei made a move to disarm Kagome, he his met with a powerful barrier that knocks him back a few feet, smoke coming from his scorched cloths.
Growling, that Kagome now has her arrow pointed to him, her muscles tense for release when she suddenly swings over to the shrine steps and release an arrow, after to hear a set of freaked out high pitched screams.
"Holy..! Urameshi did you see that!" A stund Kuwabara looks down at the mini nuc-crater just behind him.
Regaining his composure back Yusuke cracks a smart remark, "Hey Kuwabara, you should have let it hit you, seemed like Cupid had big plans for you!" Yusuke starts cracking up at his own joke. Kuwabara's ready to jump at him when Hiei and Kurama grab the oblivious boys out of the way of another arrow.
Asagao looks on with amazement as one after another her mother's arrows glowed with a pink fire. 'Wow...'
"Man what's with the attack?" Yusuke runs out from the trees where they had jumped to safety, into the clearing of the shrine grounds.
"You are the only men here, now leave!" Kagome demands, thretening them with another arrow.
Surprised that a person who looks so young, plus is a girl, has the power that she does. "Listen lady, were just here to get the girl then we'll be on our merry way, so if you don't mind..." But he was cut off when Kagome angrily yelled out.
"What do you want with my daughter?!"
Kuwabara looks back from Kagome to Asagao disbelieving that she was a mom to someone that old. "Your her mother? Sister I can believe, but mom?! No way! When did you have her when you were nine?"
Asagao's eyebrow begins to twitch. 'Why does everyone think we're sisters?'
The other detectives look at Kuwabara embarrased.
Kagome looks at the boy curiously, "You boy, with the orange hair, I am willing to speak with you but keep your demon friends at bay." Kuwabara looks around for another orange haired kid until he looks back to her and points to himself. Kagome hides a laugh and nods her head.
While he walks over Yusuke calls out that it's a trap and leaps to catch up with Kuwabara but is pushed back by the same barrier that Hiei met with.
Kuwabara looks back to his fallen friend, "What happened to you Urameshi?" He asks looking at his friend twitching on the floor with smoke coming from his cloths. Shrudding his shoulders and walking forward he stops when Kagome lowers her bow to the ground.
"What do you want with Asagao?" Asagao stands up from her place behind her mom and looks around her. The 'demons' are looking adjitated and the guy infront of her looks like he's trying to be intimidating.
'I'm sorry guy, but that hair just doesn't scare.' Asagao thinks listening on the conversation about her.
"No" Kagome says sternly to the orange haired guy. His ego seemed to deflate when his puffed out chest went to a slump. "I will not let her go with you. I don't care who he is."
"But-" Kuwabara tries to explain but is stopped when Kagome brings her arrow eye level to him.
"I do not want my daughter to be treated like a freak." Asagao looks to her mother curiously shocked at the little bit of information. "Leave now, or I will be forced to kill you all."
Kuwabara stares at the arrow just infront of him cross-eyed before nodding and walking slowly back to the group. As soon as Kuwabara was out of the proximity of the barrier, Yusuke grabbed him and dragged him away before something else happened.
Each of the Tentai look to eachother before turning back to Kagome and Asagao. "Know that we will be back lady!" Yusuke says before they all leave faster then they arrived.

A/N: OK people, whoever is reading this know this, at the time I do NOT have the internet. I moved back to Texas and my dad got rid of Roadrunner. Now I am internet-less and have no way to put this in. So when you do read this, it was finished on the 27th of July, and I may have to wait for school to put this up, that is only if I can sneek in the disk to use it in the library, cause our public library also doesn't allow people to use outside disks or anyother thing that can carry a virus. They don't even let you check your email. T-T At the moment I am writing this, I have been trying to convince my dad that I NEED the internet. Plus, if I do a good enough job, buy new software so that my ten year old computer can have an upgrade to posibly a new one, or just something that has spell check, so for all the misspelled words, sorry, but I don't have anything to fix it with. ALSO!!! It may not be for a while cause we are kinda in a bind for money at the moment. My big brother checks the mail and has been loosing my dads bills so we are behind on a few, plus my dad has his credit maxed out and has a $12,000 dept to pay, luckly, he's responsible, and I think he only said the whole dept thing so that I don't ask for money... not like I do anyways. Seriously, I'm the responsible one.
On a different note, people also claim that my mom is my sister and I HATE IT!!! She's like 37 and people think she looks young. It's only cause she's short and still has long hair. It's only good for me cause I know that my genes atleast tell me that I will age gracefully cause my dads gonna hit 50 in a few years, he's I think 44-45? and he is dating a 21 year old. Isn't genetics great? ^-^ I hope it doesn't take me too long to get this out.

9/5 A/N Ok people, again, no internet. My school is being renevated and the school library is not up just yet. Plus, it wont be for another month before we're allowed to use the internet because we have these ID cards at our school and they say if you have permission from a parent to use the internet. So without them... we can't. Plus with the whole Hurrican thing, things are pretty bad right now. Some of the refugies are comming to San Antonio, which is close by, and from what I've been hearing on the news, the people aren't being gracious for the help. Sorry if this is sounding mean or anything but it only matters that their all alright and that help on it's way. Hopefully more will arrive soon cause, the people realy need it. Ok no more blabbing, this isn't the news or anything. So still no internet... For those of you who read these... you know whats going on.
9/21 A/N Ok... again, no internet, obviously, now I'm just writing this as my date book so you all know that I still remember about these! I'm writing another story called "The Solo Adventures of Youko Kurama" so if you have a chance I'd like some feedback on that story too. Positive note, I don't have school tomorrow or friday because of Hurricane Rita. ^-^ Yes, it's deadly, yes, I may die, but atleast I'll be home, relaxing with my non-existent family.
11/6 A/N >_< I want the internet!!!!! The school also doesn't allow you to bring disks or anything to be used! >_< I so can't stand being here anymore without internet!!!! It's so boring!!!!
11/22 A/N Need I say more?... Although... my brother is in the Air force and is going to be shipped over seas and they let him pick his destination and he chose Japan! That means all family gets to go for free! Yes free! To Japan!! I'm so excited that my brother is in the Air force, I'm so proud. ^-^ *sigh* It's so nice to be able to mooch off of family. :D
3/31/06 A/N Sorry for not informing, but, I broke my computer and it hasn't been working for like three months so now I finally got it fixed and my dad will SOON- get the internet... probably.... maybe.... we'll see... who knows.
