InuYasha Fan Fiction / Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ The Necklace ❯ The Necklace ( Chapter 1 )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Disclaimer: I sadly do not own Inu Yasha, or anyone from that show, and same goes for Yu Yu Hakusho… though one day when I am wealthy, I will buy Sesshoumaru and Hiei and lock them in my closet ^.~
Authors note: this is an Inu Yasha and Yu Yu Hakusho crossover. Don't pressure me to introduce the spirit detectives though. It will happen in time. Also, this plot took me years to come up with. It is completely original, so if anyone steals it, I will be a very pissed off girl, and when I am angry, no one is happy. On a happier note: enjoy!
“Kagome! Help me!”
Instantly Kagome leapt out of her bed, grabbed the first object her hands came in contact with, charged it with miko energy, and hurled it at the first moving blur her sleepy eyes could see.
*BOOM*
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes she realized what just happened:
Her bedroom was in shambles. An entire wall was blown to pieces from her purifying power. A laughing Souta was found amidst the rubble. Upset that she was tricked yet again by her brother, Kagome glanced over at her alarm clock to see what ungodly hour of the morning it was - to find it gone. Blinking once in confusion, she looked back over at the destroyed portion of her room. She concluded that it was the poor alarm clock that she had purified and hurled.
Biting back a few curses Kagome decided to get revenge. “Souta you rat! You are so DEAD!”
Souta, who had been so proud he had got his elder sister to blow up her own room, now came to realize how stupid of an idea it really was, and promptly darted down the hall screaming, with Kagome hot on his heels.
“Runt you are SO dead when I catch you!” the anger in Kagome rose to a dangerous level, and her aura began to fluctuate. Reaching forward, she tried to grab the back of his shirt. All of a sudden, as the siblings were stampeding through the kitchen, a beam of blue light shot out of Kagome's out stretched hand.
The light hit Souta in the back, and effectively knocked him down. The light spread out over his skin, and then pushed outwards to form a sphere around him. Both siblings just stopped and stared, mouth agape at what just happened. Souta stood up in his little bubble, and placed his hands on the blue wall surrounding him. Upon contact with her energy, his hands were violently pushed back. He couldn't push through the blue energy at all. Now that he knew that he was trapped, he was pissed. He shot a glare at his sister.
Kagome was still trying to comprehend what exactly just happened. First she was able to extend her miko power around an object that wasn't one of her arrows. Then she effectively trapped her not-so-little brother in a barrier. Seeming to be in her own little world, she completely missed her brother's glare. She just didn't understand how she did it.
By now, Souta was completely pissed. He tried knocking on the sphere to get Kagome's attention, but was thrown back from the energy surrounding him. Snapping out of her stupor, Kagome walked over to her imprisoned brother. She placed her right hand flush against the barrier, and pushed a bit. Her hand went through with ease. Pulling it back, she thought about the situation a bit.
Maybe if I absorb the energy back into myself, the barrier will disappear. Now decided in what she was going to do, she placed both hands on the sphere and tried to concentrate, but after a few minutes of no success, she gave up, turned around, and went back upstairs, leaving a screaming Souta behind.
Upon coming to her room, Kagome began the tedious work of salvaging as much as possible…
oOo Meanwhile somewhere in feudal Japan oOo
he stood upon a hill that overlooked a good portion of the forest. His silver locks blew in the gentle wind. Looking west he saw the sun was beginning to dip a bit low in the sky. Frowning, he resumed his journey to the well.
oOo back with Kagome oOo
The hot water felt good after such a stressful morning. She sank a bit deeper into her bath and sighed her content of modern technology. She glanced down at her hands, and saw her ugly calloused palms that archery has left behind. She half smiled at the thought of when she first learned how to shoot a bow. She had grown much over the past four years. She was now 19, and graduated from high school for sometime. But that didn't really matter. All that mattered now was that all her time was dedicated to the sacred jewel. She no longer had an excuse to be in her time anymore, so she spent more and more time in the feudal era. But what did she have to show for it? Nothing really. She still couldn't fight. Her powers were still beyond her control. The accident earlier was proof enough. What if she had killed her only brother? She had been learning a few spells here and there from Kaede, but she still hasn't mastered any true form of control
It's so pathetic, the person I've become…
Her body was well toned from the constant exercise she had of just living in the feudal era, but she didn't feel pretty. She stopped cutting her hair some time ago, so her raven locks now reached about mid-thigh. The biggest change in her though, was her eyes. A brilliant shade of blue-gray, once innocent, now was hardened with the reality of living in a world of kill or be killed.
Sighing again, Kagome stepped out of the water, and toweled herself dry. She frowned at herself when she saw how many scars had accumulated on her person. Stupid demons…
Instead of dressing in her modern era clothes, as expected as a girl of today's society, she dressed in a miko's garb, but in shades of silver and black. She had long ago started to dress in traditional clothing, for it was easier to maintain in feudal Japan, and created less problems. But to prevent herself from looking like Kikyou's shadow, she chose black bottoms, and silver tops to the traditional red and white. Once dressed, she proceeded outside.
When she stepped outside, she took a deep breath, inhaling the wonderful scents of the surrounding trees, flowers, car exhaust, and chemicals. Sighing once more, her heart wept at what modern day people have done to the once beautiful nature around them. Looking around she saw her grandfather making his way over to her.
“Kagome dear, would you mind cleaning out the old shed? I would do it myself, but my weary body needs to rest” he simply went inside after his request, not paying attention to her protests. Kagome just grumbled under her breath for a moment about her horrible timing, and began her small trek across the shrine grounds to an old shed. On her way, she stopped at the Goshinboku, bowed her head, and said a short prayer. Once done, she continued on her journey.
When her destination was at last reached she saw why her dear, dear old grandfather appointed her with this task. Peering inside she saw, that not only was the wood of the small shed was failing, but within, nothing was labeled, the shelves were broken, items were strewn about - in short, it was a catastrophe waiting to happen.
Closing her eyes and shaking her head gently, she laughed softly at her grandfather and his ability to evade work. Bracing herself, she entered the ruined edifice with a goal of restoring its usefulness.
---Later that day---
Wiping the sweat from her brow, Kagome stood up, stretched her back, and smiled softly to herself. Peering outside the door, she saw that the sun was setting. She picked up the last box on the floor and grunted a bit from its weight. Heaving it over to a corner, and dropped it. Dusting off her hands, she smiled to herself, satisfied on a job well done- when she saw it.
Buried in one of the boxes, she saw something glimmer. Her brow furrowing, she proceeded to dig through the box's contents in search of whatever shiny object she had seen. She felt her hands come in contact with a cool metal. Grasping it, she tugged at it, frowning when it did not budge. Grasping it with both hands, she pulled. It wouldn't move. Now, curiosity got the better of her. She didn't know what it was, but she was determined to find out.
A random mosquito was heard buzzing around her head. She quickly shooed it away. But the mosquito, instead of being nice in her time of frustration, landed on her neck, and bit her. Completely pissed now, she swatted at her neck, then vigorously scratched the spot she was bitten in, effectively knocking the jewel shards out from under her hairoi. They glinted in the soft reflection of the receding sunlight.
Kagome made another attempt on the object of her frustration, and yanked. The object flew out of the box, the force knocked her over, and the poor miko fell onto her butt, acquiring a new bruise.
“OUCH!” getting up, she rubbed her now-sore bottom, and looked at her prize.
It was an extravagant necklace. Gold and silver was intertwined to form an amazing pattern. There was two dragons, one silver with gold highlights, the other gold with silver highlights. Their mouths were open, and facing each other. They seemed to be breathing fire at each other, though there seemed like there was a small gap, like a jewel of some sorts once belonged there, but was now missing. Each dragon had its wings splayed out, and their talons seemed to be clawing the air. Their tails twined together to complete the circle of the necklace.
Now this confused our beloved mike, for how can you put on a necklace if there is no clasp? That's when she felt it. It was the presence of many souls. The jewel was alive. The shards broke free from the confines of the glass vial around her neck, and flew, fusing together on its way to the necklace in her hands. It settled in the gap between the two dragons mouths. Now that they were in one piece, Kagome could see that she had about half of the jewel in her possession. She could feel the content the jewel gave off now that it was settled in the new necklace.
The corner of her mouth kicked up in a half-smile, happy that the jewel was pleased- but it didn't last long. It seemed that there was one more surprise in store for her that day. The cool metal in her hands began to warm. It got so hot, that it was too hot to the touch. Kagome could smell her hands begin to burn. Throwing it down, Kagome looked on in a sick fascination as the seen began to unfold. Each dragon, holding a respective piece of the jewel in its mouth, came alive. They both melted from the other, becoming to separate beings. Spreading their wings wide, they took flight, and rose in the air. They began to fly in her direction, increasing in speed, and showing no sign of slowing. Now horrified, Kagome threw her arms in front of her, in an attempt to shield herself from the oncoming dragons. It didn't work. Molten metal splashed across her chest as each dragon plunged into her, the intense heat of the metals burning her skin. The smell of burning flesh rose in the air as Kagome screamed, her miko power flaring to life, trying to protect her from the pain. Unable to stop it, she fell to the ground as her purifying power exploded from her body, effectively destroying everything in a hundred foot radius of her. Falling to the ground, she hit her head on a rock. Completely stunned, she felt blood drip from her head as the world went black.
So how was it? Should I continue? I have half of the next chapter planned out, but any suggestions would be helpful. Weather its flames, or constructive criticism, all reviews are appreciated. So r&r. I know that it was kinda short. The chapters will get longer with time, don't worry!!
