[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Sitting in the branches of the Goshinboku, a very annoyed Inu demon sat. He had been waiting there for the last three days, waiting for a certain human to return. Shaking his head slightly, his long silver-blue hair shimmered in the sunlight. He placed his hand on the hilt of his father's fang, and lay back in the boughs of the tree as he thought.
I thought she would be back by now. It's been three days since she had gone. What could be keeping her?
And so this is what ran through the poor Inu's mind as he continued to sit. And wait. And sit. And wait. Glancing up at the sky he watched the sun make its way over the sky, and at about noon, he began to loose patience. Growling softly at the miko's tardiness he shot a glare at the well, but kept his place in the tree. And waited.
oOo Back with Kagome oOo
It felt like she was in her dream world for ages, but in reality, it was only just a few hours. Her dragon self didn't teach her much. She learned how to mask her scent and power, create barriers, and she dabbled in illusions so she could hide her new markings and demon qualities from the mortal world. Basically, everything else was left untaught. This frustrated Kagome, because she didn't know how she would fight or anything once engaged in battle, but her demon self assured her not to worry.
Kagome currently sat in her dream world on a large boulder in the middle of the hot spring. Her demon side was in the water, back facing Kagome, catching demon fish. She looked at the elegant creature as her muscles flexed, hand shot forward, wings outstretched, and successfully caught another fish. I am to be that… that beautiful creature. How is this possible?
Shaking her head softly in disbelief, she decided to strike up in conversation again.
“How is it that you exist?” the demoness paused, stood up straight and jumped into the air. With a beat of her wings, she gracefully glided over and landed on the rock next to Kagome.
“I always existed. I am the soul of the Jewel. I am your soul. I am what you truly are. Once I am finally a part of you again, you shall take my image, and we shall continue to live forever…” she trailed off realizing how sad Kagome's fate was. She was doomed to live forever. Glancing at Kagome's gray-blue eyes, the corners of her mouth kicked up in a half smile in attempt to reassure the little miko.
Kagome was at the point that she wasn't so shocked by this type of news anymore. She just nodded and accepted her fate. She looked around her, at the trees, the sky… the pesky insects. A thought popped into her head.
“Am I truly in a dream? I mean this place looks so real…” looking back at her mirror image, her eyebrows furrowed in question. Now this amused the demoness greatly.
“I was wondering when you were going to catch on!” she chuckled softly. “No you are not dreaming. This is a separate world. A world for demons. Actually, it's located within the jewel. The sky is blue because the jewel itself is unwhole and is weeping. Once the jewel is complete again, it shall return to pink, as it should be. Know this: every demon you kill appears somewhere in this world, depending on their power level. They shall come here and never be able to return to your world, the Ningenkai. All descendents of them that are born in this world shall remain in this world also. But you can also use this place as a haven, if you choose. There are many layers to the Jewel, so many levels of this world. If someone is injured, or needs help, or if you just want to take them here for some reason, you can send them here, in this quiet place and can help them here. Any demon or human for that matter that you send here yourself can be sent back to your world, but you will need to be the one to send them back. But also keep this in mind: the jewel is also you. I know this sounds kinda complicated, but you will understand in time.” That said, she got up, pumped her wings once, and gracefully slid back to her spot in the water to continue her hunt for lunch.
Kagome sat wide-eyed on her rock, and let it all sink in. there is a whole world inside this jewel! A world of demons no less. Well this world should have a name at least. Well a world of demons…it will be…Makai. She looked down at the demoness' back and watched her flex and relax her wings as she moved, “Why haven't I woken up yet?”
Not pausing, the demoness called back over her shoulder, “Because of insufficient energy. It took a lot out of me to transport you here. I can't bring you back; it's out of my hands now. You need someone powerful to come and wake you up. I am done training you, but you will remain with me until he comes. Whoever it is, you should consider mating him, or any other powerful demon you cross so they can protect you when the time comes.” Realizing he was stuck, Kagome got a bit upset.
“Anything else you want to add?” she asked sarcastically, and laughed a kind of fake laugh.
“Actually,” Kagome paused, and looked back over to the demoness, her smile fading. The demoness stood up again in the pool, turned around, and looked at Kagome in the eyes seriously, “The child. The one who travels with the great Inu lord, Sesshoumaru. Befriend her. For she is the true reincarnation of Kikyou. Your soul is that of the jewel, so Kikyou cannot bring you harm. But this only pertains to you. This means you are not her reincarnation, but you probably guessed this-” a sharp intake of breath from Kagome, “but if she hears what little Rin is, then the defenseless child will be slaughtered, and her soul stolen. Don't harbor any hate towards Kikyou though, she is simply a sad soul trying to find peace.”
This was a huge shock. I am my own person! I'm not Kikyou's shadow! I'm inside the jewel, about to become a demon, stuck in here till someone powerful wakes me up, but I'm not Kikyou's image! This was the best news Kagome had heard in a while. She felt as though she could whoop and holler.
“But remember Rin-“ the demoness' angelic voice cut through her thoughts, “for once she is fully grown she will be a clone of you. You will have the same image, like twins - minus your wonderful markings from the jewel. She will be so close to you, that you shall practically share one mind. You will have the same personality, habits, everything. She will be a key person in your immortal life, so take her in and teach her well…”
oOo Back in the feudal era oOo
It was about three hours since we last checked on the disgruntled Inu. Needless to say, his patience is wearing thin. Growling to himself, he debated what his next move should be. Would he go and search for Kagome? Or would he wait longer?
Sesshoumaru glared at the well again. He knew that our beloved miko would jump in it, disappear, and then reappear randomly a few days later. What he wanted to know was where the hell did she go? Thoughts of this human woman flooded his mind. He just couldn't get enough of her. Questions. So many questions flew through his mind. Who was she really? What was she?
A few days ago he had an impulse to come to the well and see the miko, so he followed it and came. But where was she? Thinking again of how she disappeared, he decided to try and jump into the well. It couldn't hurt…. Could it?
Relying on first instinct he got up from his resting place, and pounced into the well..… And was immediately surrounded by an intense blue light.
OOo meanwhile, somewhere in modern day Japan oOo
It had been a long day. The spirit detectives were walking down a busy street, Yuusuke in the lead, pushing everybody out of his way. Next was Kurama, looking as immaculate as ever, and deep in conversation with his fox self. Lastly, Hiei was flitting through the trees overhead. Kuwabura was lost a few blocks back when he stumbled across a kitten.
“I can't believe the fucking toddler couldn't drop us off with the fucking portal!” Yuusuke ranted and raved as he shot dirty looks at innocent bystanders, “I have a date with Keiko today! Now I'm gonna be late…” he continued grumbling an cursing to himself. Meanwhile, Kurama, who seemed to be quiet, was actually discussing their latest mission with his inner fox.
- Is what Koenma told us true Yoko? -
~It's hard to tell. So far, its all been accurate, but you can never be too sure. I think its best we investigate on our own, since the toddler tends to hide important information…~
I shall assist you then. I too don't trust that brat.
Kurama stopped walking and looked up at Hiei standing on top of a street lamppost. Nodding his head, he accepted Hiei's assistance.
But not tonight. I have matters of my own to tend to.
With that, Hiei ran away, running on rooftops. Looking over his shoulder, Kurama saw the raging Yuusuke was still storming down the sidewalk. He glanced back over to Hiei's retreating form, and turned to the opposite direction, walking into a nearby wood.
- Where do you think we should start? -
~ There is a great energy a bit west of us, can you feel it? ~ Stopping, Kurama spread out his senses.
- I feel it. Lets go. -
Heading west, he sprung into the trees. He raced to his destination, testing his speed as the trees flew by. Kurama used his power over plants to move random trees into his way so he could practice dodging them.
He reached his destination in a matter of a few minutes. Stopping at the tree line, the fox looked around at where he ended up. It was a shrine. Curious, he hopped into the boughs of a ginormous tree. Kurama sat down on a branch, looked down and scanned the area. He almost jumped when he felt an enormous energy emerge from a nearby well house. He waited.
The door slid open slowly, and a great demon emerged. It was a tall demon, with silver-blue hair, dressed in traditional armor and clothes, his tail thrown over his shoulder. The demons brow furrowed slightly in dissatisfaction of not knowing where he was. Kurama unconsciously growled at the new demon, uncomfortable in not knowing whom it was. But stopped when he felt Yoko's recognition.
~ It's… its Sesshoumaru! ~ He was astonished to see his old friend suddenly appear.
Suddenly, Kurama's body pulsated. On the second beat, he transformed into his Yoko form. Then, in unison, both demons on the shrine grounds pulsated. They felt and answering pulse come from inside the house. Their heads shot in the directions of the house, and out of instinct, moved at the same time and darted off to the room where they felt it come from. Jumping through a window, the kitsune and Inu found something they weren't expecting.
She was on her side on the ground by a mirror. Her aura flared around her in tones of silver and gold. The air around her seemed to shimmer and crackle with the power she possessed. But they couldn't tell what her power was; it was ancient, and strong. They could feel it washing over them.
oOo with Kagome oOo
Kagome was still letting everything sink in. sliding down from her perch, she made her way through the water over to her counterpart. Standing beside her, the both smiled as they felt the energy of two demons on the shrine grounds with Kagome's physical body.
Kagome bowed to the demoness, thanking her for all the assistance. In turn, the demoness stepped into Kagome's body, fusing with her. As their body combined, it pulsated once, and she was returned to her body.
