The Pure Miko

 

Chapter 14

 

The Legendary Pure Miko stormed out of the elevator that took her down to the base. She stormed into the information department with a look in her eyes that would make even Sesshomaru rethink his words to her.

 

“I want everything on this demon that you can find. I want anything that shows up, even if it is a mouse demon in the slums. I want everything about everything. You have two hours. Get to work.”

 

She moved over to Greg, who was working at his super computers.

 

“Greg, I need you to analyze the energy residue that is left in my families home. Analyze it and try to find a way to track it if it shows up on any of the radar's.”

 

“I'll get right on it!” He said.

 

“I'll be up with Sesshomaru and the others if you find anything.”

“What happened?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“He was there at the Shrine. He tied up my mom and Souta in my old room and gagged them.”

 

“Are they okay?”

 

“Yes, for now. They are, but he said that he will take someone else from me if I do not say yes the next time that he sees me.”

 

“Did he send someone?” Shippo asked.

 

“No, he left a note in my window.”

 

“Give it to me.” Sesshomaru ordered.

 

Kagome handed the note to him without any resistance to his command. She knew that this was not a time when she should argue about his inability to ask nicely at this point in time. The safety of her family was far more important. After all she could always nag at him later for it. But not now. Not with the stakes as high as they are.

 

Sesshomaru opened the note to read it; Shippo and Inuyasha leaned in to read with him. Kagome watched as their eyes fluidly racing across the paper and the words that it contained. After a moment of suspenseful silence she heard three separate growls that emitted from the demons before her. And those growled were the only things that set them apart from the human appearances that they projected.

 

The first growl was that of a pissed off demon lord. His eyes began to take red hue to them when another growl was heard. Shippo was the second growl that she heard. And shortly following this was Inuyasha's growl shortly followed by a string of curses that could have even made a pirate shake his head.

 

“You see the issue now.” She said in a calm voice now. This was the calm before the storm.

 

They all nodded. “I see that the detectives are not here.”

 

“They had to have a discussion with the Prince.” Shippo said. “They promised to be back later.”

 

Kagome nodded her head and sighed. “What in the world am I doing to do?” She whispered to herself.

 

“You will let us help you take care of this problem, Kagome.” Sesshomaru now stood a few inches away her. His tone was soft at the end to the point that he had whispered her name. It brought with it a shiver down her spine.

 

Kagome looked into his eyes and only saw sincerity and determination. She slowly nodded to him.

 

She continued. “I have the entire base looking up any and all information about demons in the country. I also assigned Greg to analyze the energy signature left behind by the demon. I am hoping that he will be able to track the signature to the demon himself so that next time he can be tracked the next time that he appears.”

 

They nodded. “Sesshomaru, I have a question for you.”

 

He nodded for her to proceed.

 

“I was wondering if you encountered or felt any form of demon around me since I was born?”

 

He looked at me incredulously. “Knowing you Sesshomaru, you monitored me since I was born.”

 

“Yes, I did. We sensed a few demons near you, but all of them were taken care of.”

 

“How long did it take for you to kill them when you noticed their presence.”

 

“No longer than a few hours.” Inuyasha said.

 

Kagome looked thoughtful. Her face showed no emotions as she thought through whatever was going on in her head. Suddenly her face showed an understanding like no other.

 

“Oh course!” She hissed threw gritted teeth. “That's how he knew. That's how he knew who I was. He has been watching me since I was little, a baby even.”

 

“What do you mean?”

 

“The demon,” Kagome sneered the title. “Has been watching me since I was born. But I don't understand how he could know that I was who I am today. And why does he reveal himself now and not two or even ten years ago?” Kagome finished her questions with a shout of frustration even though they seemed more rhetorical than anything else.

 

“How on earth could he have known that I was going to be--?” She trailed off. “This is so frustrating!” She finally yelled. She was pacing the office now, and her agitation only showed more as her walk became more like a stomp across the room.

 

Inuyasha grabbed her by the shoulders, forcing her to stop her tantrum. He shook her slightly before he finally hissed out, “What are you talking about?”

 

“I am a fool. I don't know why I didn't see this before! It is so obvious!”

 

“What are you talking about!” He shouted out now.

 

“I am talking about the stupid, evil, insane, perverted demon that has been watching me since I was three or maybe even since I was born!

 

“Don't you see it? The demons that you only killed a few hours later were reporting back to the same guy that is after me now.

 

“It makes sense. He has been watching me since I was born. He must have sensed the energy in me since I was little, but I don't understand why he has been waiting this entire time.”

 

Sesshomaru growled. “See even you can see it now.” Kagome said.

 

“Yes.” He hissed out.

 

“But how does he know so much about me?” Kagome asked.

 

“What the hell are you going on about?”

 

“The demon that is after Kagome has been watching her for years.” Shippo elaborated.

 

“What?” Inuyasha asked, but in surprise instead of confusion.

 

“Do you have any idea how you would know about me, Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked.

 

“No.” He said.

 

“I wonder if the Spirit world knows anything about him?” She asked to herself.

 

And at that moment the phone rang. Kagome snatched the phone out of its resting-place.

 

“Yes?” She said, annoyed.

 

“Yes, direct them to the top floor. Thank you.” She placed the phone back and turned back to the other occupants.

 

“They are on their way up.”

 

They nodded all ready knowing who was coming to the top floor.

 

As they waited for the Spirit detectives to come up the elevator Kagome began to notice something wrong. There was two people in the elevator that she didn't know. One of them felt like…death. The grim reaper was in the elevator. And if that was true then the only logical conclusion to the mystery person would be…

 

“Koenma.” She whispered. The elevator opened with a ding and Yusuke stepped out followed quickly by Hiei, Kuwabara, and Youko. But when they stepped out they revealed the two unknown people in the elevator that were accompanying them. A young woman with a shining and happy disposition stepped out, and Kagome couldn't help but notice her bright blue hair and pink kimono. But her attention quickly focused on the male teenager behind her, who had the abbreviation `Jr' on his forehead. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru stiffened to the point of looking like statues.

 

The teenager moved to be in front of the miko, bowing once he stopped. “My Lady, it is an honor to meet you.” He rose. “I am Prince Koenma of the Spirit Realm.”

 

“I know who you are. What can I do for you Prince Koenma.”

 

“I would appreciate it if you would show me your bosses.”

 

“Oh course.” She moved around to stand at Sesshomaru's side.

 

“Prince Koenma, let me introduce you to my bosses: Lord Sesshomaru,” She indicated the tall human with jet-black hair next to her. “Lord Inuyasha,” She motioned to the smaller human, Inuyasha. “And Lord Shippo.”

 

Koenma stared at them. It seemed that he did not believe that.

 

“Sesshomaru, would you be so kind to drop your disguise.”

 

Sesshomaru, Shippo, and Inuyasha dropped their human appearances. Koenma hesitated, but it seemed as if he wished to take a step back from the powerful demons in front of him.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru, I am here to ask you to relinquish the miko in your service and return to the Demon world.”

 

“What?” Yusuke asked in shock. “You can't do that.”

 

“Lord Koenma, I would not recommend

 

“I cannot do that.” Sesshomaru said.

 

“May I ask why, Lord Sesshomaru?”

 

“Lady Kagome is here of her own free will. And we have been here for over five hundred years. We will not leave.”

 

“And I refuse to let you leave. You have more right to be here than they do.” Kagome said, looking at Sesshomaru in determination.

 

“My Lady, I would like you to come to the Spirit world. There is much that we have to discuss.” Koenma looked meaningfully at Sesshomaru before he moved back to Kagome.

 

The Spirit Detectives that were standing around him were becoming even more agitated as the minutes went by.

 

“No, I am sorry that I cannot. I have other matters that need my attention.”

 

“Lord Koenma, I believe that it would be wise to allow Lady Kagome to continue her services to the Human world as she pleases. After all, she does do the same thing that we do.” Kurama said. He was now back in his human form.

 

“Yeah, they have done nothing wrong. They're pretty awesome!” Kuwabara said in agreement.

 

Koenma hesitated. “My father would want you to come to Spirit world for further questioning.”

 

“Then tell your father that he can come see me any time that he wishes. I am not going.”

 

“He—”

 

“Would just order you to send the current Spirit detective team for me. Yes, I know; he can try all he wants. But it will not work.”

 

“And why is that, Lady Kagome?”

 

“Because they will answer to me above all others.” She said simply.

 

“What?”

 

“Did you really think that we would allow you to have people on the inside that I didn't all ready contact. This is my job. I am very good at it.

 

“And don't even try to look up my personal file. I had it removed several months ago. In fact, you might want to tighten your security now that I think about it. It was very easy to get in the document department.”

 

Yusuke snickered.

 

“However, if there are any questions that you would like to ask that I am willing to answer then by all means, ask.”

 

“Where is the Jewel?” He asked.

 

“Inside my body. I will remain its guardian for the rest of eternity.”

 

As Koenma exclaimed “What?” Yusuke and Kuwabara yelled out, “You never told us that!”
