Chapter 2
Kagome saw two youkai runing toward them. Sesshoumaru stopped and waited for them. Kagome gasped when she saw it was two female youkai. They stopped right in front of Sesshoumaru and bowed.

One of them, the taller one, had midback length silver hair with dark blue and black bangs, the outside bangs were silver and covered most of her forehead. The thing that caught Kagome's attention was the two ears popping out of the top of her head. They were black with silver tips, the ears of a hanyou. She was wearing a kimono with different shades of blue on it and it had a pattern like Sesshoumaru's on the right shoulder, except in place of the sukura blossoms were tear drops. Her eyes were a ice blue with silver specs and a silver-blue lined her upper eye lids.

The other one had bright red hair down to her thighs. She had black bangs over her forehead and longer ones framing her face. The hair that framed her face was another shade of red; darker than the rest of her hair. She had emerald green eyes with silver specs near the pupil. Two silver stripes outlined in black came down from her temples and slightly curved to stop just under her eyes. What she wore surprised them all a little. She was wearing an outfit similar to Sango's. The only differences were where Sango's was pink it was a silvery blue. The padding was silver and the design Sango had on her gi was missing on the youkai's.

Sesshoumaru smirked down at the two. It seems they had missed him. "Rin and Jaken are here?"

The one in the kimono smiled, "Yes, my most supreme master." She looked around Sesshoumaru, "Who are they?" She saw Inuyasha and smiled, "Awe, did you and Lord Inuyasha make up and decide to love one another?"

Inuyasha growled and tried to make a grab for her, but Sesshoumaru's hand around his neck stopped him. Inuyasha grabbed at Sesshoumaru's arm and tried to pry it off of him. He couldn't.

Sesshoumaru growled, "That was uncalled for hanyou."

The one in blue gasped, "Sess, I'm a hanyou. Now you hurt my feelings."

Sesshoumaru let Inuyasha fall to the ground, "You are not a dirty hanyou Sitora. Not like him in any way."

Sitora smiled and launched herself at Sesshoumaru. "I knew you cared. But no matter what I am a hanyou, half youkai and half human."

Sesshoumaru almost rolled his eyes at her. He hugged her back and was fairly sure that if he turned to look at his new allies they'd be shocked at his behavior.

Sitora pulled away from Sesshoumaru and looked at everyone, "Sess, aren't you going to introduce me to everyone?"

Sesshoumaru sighed and turned to his brother and his companions. "This is the monk Miroku, the youkai exterminator Sango, the kitsune is Shippo, and this is Kagome the guardian of the Shikon no Tama."

Everyone looked at Sesshoumaru in shock. They couldn't believe he knew all of their names. Kagome knew why though. She told him about her friends and their journeys together. Kagome had even told Sesshoumaru how every single one of her friends had tried to either kill her or do something that led to her life being in danger.

Sitora bowed to each of them, "My name is Sitora. I may not look it, but I am the general of Sesshoumaru's army. I am a hanyou, though I think Sesshoumaru's in denile. My mother was a hime and my father was a dark tiger youkai."

Kagome smiled she liked Sitora. "Is there a difference between a dark tiger youkai and regular tiger youkai?"

Sitora fake gasped, "Of course there is. A dark tiger youkai is far more powerful than vertually any youkai alive today, except Sess here that is." She moved and stood next to the other youkai, "This is my dear half-sister Shinjiru. We had the same father, different mothers. She is also a hanyou of sorts," Sitora leaned over to Kagome, "She's also in denile. My dear sister is half falcon and half tiger. She is-Sesshoumaru why is she here again?"

"Shinjiru is here because I want her to be."

Shinjiru sighed, "While you are correct Sesshoumaru, I am also a part of the Shinobi unit."

Sitora smiled, "That's it! I forgot about that. I guess since Sesshoumaru abandoned us last week I was lost."

Shinjiru hit her on the head, "Don't be over dramatic Sitora." She looked at Sesshoumaru, "Since you left some things have happened."

Sitora straightened up and looked at Sesshoumaru seriously, "He came back."

Sesshoumaru growled, "Did he try anything this time?"

Sitora looked down and didn't answer him.

Sesshoumaru lifted her chin gently with his hand, "What happened?"

"I was in the garden when he came. It was really him this time, I don't know how but I felt that it was him. He tried to capture me again." Tears fell from Sitora's eyes and trailed down her cheeks.

Sesshoumaru wiped her tears away with his thumb. "How was he stopped?"

Sitora laughed, "It was Jaken. He came in and saw me. He used to staff of heads to make him leave." She put her hand on Sesshoumaru's, "Why didn't you come back?"

Sesshoumaru averted his eyes, how could he tell her. He couldn't and wouldn't, this didn't concern her. "It is my own business Sitora." He took his hand away from her face.

Shinjiru stood beside Sitora in surprise. Sesshoumaru had never talked to either of them like that before. She growled.

Sesshoumaru looked at Shinjiru and saw disbelief in her eyes. He wouldn't tell them the truth though. The only one that deserved that truth was Kagome and he hadn't told her either.

Kagome didn't know who was after Sitora, but she felt it might have been a hunter of something like that. She had to remind herself to ask Sesshoumaru about it later.

Sitora caught a scent on the breeze and almost thought it was her imagination. It didn't go away though. She knew the others couldn't smell it because her sense of smell was far greater than theirs, even Sesshoumaru. It was Sesshoumaru's scent interlaced with Kagome's. That only happened after repeated rutting or a mating, so that meant that Kagome and Sess had been seeing eachother for a while. Sitora smirked knowing how she could get Sess to tell her what happened.

"Sess?'

"What Sitora."

"We should get them settled in and shown around the castle don't you think?" She smiled at him slightly, oh yeah she was gonna have fun with this. "I'll take the guys to their rooms, come on Shinjiru." Inuyasha and Miroku followed the two inside.

Sesshoumaru led Kagome, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara to their rooms. When they arrived he opened the door and walked in. "This is where you will be staying while you are here."

While Sango and Shippo marveled at their room Kagome looked outside at the garden. She set her bag down and turned back to Sesshoumaru. He was staring at her intently. Kagome couldn't help it she blushed and he smirked.

"Come, I will show you around the castle."

While they were on their tour so were Inuyasha and Miroku. After Miroku being hit over he head by Sitora for one of his infamous preposals they continued their tour. Sitora had shown them almost all that was allowed to be shown. In the end they met up with Sesshoumaru and were sitting in one of his libraries

"Now that you know your ways around I have things that need to be tended to." He left with Sitora trailing behind him.

Shinjiru shook her head, something was wrong. Sesshoumaru was tense and something was bothering him, other than Sitora.

Kagome looked at Shinjiru, "Is there a garden we are allowed in?"

She laughed, "Yes, I'll show you the way, but it is getting too late to stay out so you'll have to go out tomorrow." Everyone followed Shinjiru out into the garden.

Sesshoumaru leaned against the tall oak tree in his private garden. It felt good to be home. He was still a little jumpy, with Kagome here he had to be careful.

Sitora watched him from her hiding place in the tree. She quietly made her way down the tree branches. Though she new Sesshoumaru had heard her she kept going.

"Sitora, I'm too tired to deal with this right now."

She jumped down, "Sorry, but I smelt something interesting and wanted to ask you about it."

"Hurry then."

"It was when we were standing outside. I caught the scent of you."

He looked up at her, "So?"

Sitora sat next to Sesshoumaru, "The wierd thing was that is was interlaced with Kagome's. It was coming from her and you, though less strong with you since you are the male."

Sesshoumaru actually froze, "What?'

"Have you and Kagome been rutting?"

Sesshoumaru growled, "It is none of your business Sitora."

She frowned and looked up and the tree, "Sess, I know something had to have happened. You seem kinda depressed since you came back and also on edge."

Sesshoumaru sighed, "Figures you'd find out. We've been rutting for over four months. Last week there were some things said that shouldn't have been said."

"What did you say?"

"The one thing I always say. I am incapable of love. And she told me on accident that she loves me."

Sitora's eyes widened, "Kagome loves you?"

"Yes."

"Do you love her?"

"I told you-"

"I know and I heard, but do you honestly think I believe you? I know you better than that Sess."

"Yeah I guess you do." He smiled to himself, "I guess I do love her, but she will probably never forgive me for last time."

Sitora stood up, "Sess if she really loves you then she will forgive you. Hell, she'd be stupid to not take you the first chance she gets. You're quite the guy Sess, just hard to get through to." Sitora smiled down at Sesshoumaru, "Though it looks like she already did." Sitora jumped back into the tree and left the garden.

Sesshoumaru stayed in his garden until the sun was begining to set. So many thoughts ran through his head as he look at the first stars of the night. He didn't know if he could ever swollow his pride and admit to Kagome that he did have feelings for her. Of course that didn't mean he loved her, he stopped loving long before Kagome was born. After his mother died, then his father bringing a human woman to his bed that was enough for Sesshoumaru.

His father claimed to love his mother. He 'loved' her so much that not even two years after she died he brought the human home. At first it was simply rutting, then his father, the feared Western Lord, started catering to her human 'needs'. She always wanted something; the final thing she demanded from Inutaisho was love and that was ultimately his down fall.

'Love,' Sesshoumaru sneered, 'is the reason myself and the hanyou are without a father. It was her fault he died; she made him weak.' Sesshoumaru sighed. He stood and stretched. In all truth he didn't know what he was going to do about Kagome, she loved him. At least he knew that, but could he get past his hate for Inuyasha's dead mother to actually love Kagome? A part of him desperately wanted to love her, to make Kagome his mate, and always be with her, but the rational side cautioned him. No matter what anyone said to him, Sesshoumaru knew that love always came with pain.

He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. Sesshoumaru would address his problems later that night, for now he had more pressing problems to deal with. He came after Sitora again. Sesshoumaru growled, he had come after her since she was little. Now he dared to come into the Western palace to get someone under his protection. Sesshoumaru vowed long ago, when he first started watching over Sitora and Shinjiru, that he wouldn't let anything hurt them.

Sesshoumaru started walking back to the palace, 'Now he tries to force me to break my word to them. He will not get away with hurting Sitora.' He made his way through the large double door that led into his palace.

The next morning Kagome had gone out to the garden to relax. She sighed as she watched Rin and Shippo play. Inuyasha was being grumpy and wouldn't come out of the tree she was sitting under. Sango and Miroku had gone with Shin, she asked them to call her that. She was taking them to a dojo so Sango could practice with Hiraikotsu. Miroku was, in his words, "Making sure Sango didn't hurt herself." He felt he was needed where Sango was.

That left Kagome with one moody hanyou and two very energetic children. Sitora still hadn't come back yet. Kagome had been wanting to ask Sesshoumaru about them, but she still felt upset about their fight. After loving Inuyasha and getting nothing she was hopeful with Sesshoumaru, but now she wasn't so sure. He was always distant to everyone, but he talked to her. Before they started getting intimate they talked all the time, even after their sexual relationship started they talked. Now she couldn't even bring herself to say his name.

Kagome looked up when she heard a rustling above her. Inuyasha had dropped from the tree and was glaring at her. "What?"

"Do you mind? I was trying to relax, I don't want to listen to you speak in some foreign language." He made to jump back into the tree, but Kagome stopped him.

"What do you mean? I haven't been talking at all."

"Yes you have. If you don't believe me ask Shippo and Rin." Inuyasha pointed over to the kids. They were looking at Kagome weird.

"Will you watch over them for me Inuyasha?" She jumped up. At his questioning look she said, "I have to use the restroom." It was a lie.

He frowned, "Fine, just don't take too long."

Kagome took off for where ever Sesshoumaru was. He had to be somewhere around the palace. She ran through hall after hall and couldn't find him.

She spotted Sitora and stopped her. "Have you seen Sesshoumaru?"

"Is everything all right?"

Kagome nodded, "I just have to talk to him."

Sitora smiled, "Okay." She pointed Kagome to three doors down the hall and to the right. "He was in the room at the end of that hallway."

"Thanks." Kagome walked down the hall until she stood outside the door. She didn't know what room this was, but she hoped it wasn't his bedroom or study. He told them to stay out and she didn't want him to have another reason to hate her.

Kagome knocked on the door and didn't get any answer. She pushed the doors slowly open. When she looked in she saw Sesshoumaru sitting at a desk with a scroll in his hands. She steeled herself and walked in, quietly closing the door behind her.

"I told you no one was to disturb me." He didn't even look up.

"I'm sorry Sesshoumaru, but I have to talk to you."

Sesshoumaru finally looked up and was surprised to see Kagome standing before him. "I thought I made it clear that my study was off limits."

Kagome looked shocked, "Sitora told me where you were. I asked her if this was your study and she didn't say anything. I am really sorry to interrupt you, but something freaky happened in the garden."

Sesshoumaru set the paper down and stood up from his desk. "Okay, I'm paying attention."

Kagome got it all out in one breath. She never paused or elaborated.

Sesshoumaru walked up to her and put his hands on her shoulders. "Calm down Kagome. Now once more, what happened?"

She took a deep breath and started again. "I was out in the garden with Inuyasha and the kids. Inuyasha came down from the tree and glared at me. He told me I was talking in a foreign language."

"And?"

"And the only language I can speak is the one I'm using right now." She looked up at him helplessly, "After the first time we...rutted you said if anything weird happens to me to tell you."

"Would you recognize it if you heard it again?"

"Well considering that I didn't even know I was speaking it in the first place; no."

Sesshoumaru motioned for her to sit as he returned to his chair behind his desk. She might not know it but she was still putting a strain on his body. It was best for him to have something between them, even if it wasn't going to keep him from her. "What were you doing when this happened?"

"I was thinking about us." She looked down, "Then Inuyasha came down and told me to stop talking."

Sesshoumaru studied her. 'Us? What was she thinking?' He sighed, "We'll try something."

Kagome looked up, "What?"

"Since we rutted so frequently it is possible that you got something from me. I will say things in the tongues I know and see where that gets us. Okay?"

She nodded, "Fine. Go on."

Sesshoumaru knew over a hundred different youkai tongues along with the High Tongues. The High Languages were only know by the royalty. He began in High Neko, "This is the language spoken by the Lord of the East." (High Inu is italic)

Kagome looked at him in confusion, "I'd say that's a no."

High Inu, his language. He smirked, "Inuyasha is a bastard incapable of love or compassion." There was very little chance Kagome knew High Inu. It took years for the nobles to learn it.

Kagome frowned, "That wasn't nice Sesshoumaru. Besides he says the same thing about you." She crossed her arms over her chest. "What language was that?"

He was actually stunned, "That was my language, High Inu. I'm amazed you know it." He smiled slightly, "If you know High Inu it is very possible that you can speak the other variations of inu and even ookami."

Kagome looked at him, "How can I know all of this?"

"When inu mate a bond is formed-"

"Wait," She cut in, "you said we were rutting not mating. You explained to me the difference remember? You never marked me or did anything that indicated mating was going on."

He didn't want to explain this to her. If he did she might figure out that he has some feelings for her. He took a deep breath, "No we did not technically mate, but we did mate on some level. There are no rules for mating and each species of youkai has a certain exception to the mating mark."

"Okay, so that means that even inu have an exception right?"

"Yes. The inu exception is if the male has strong enough feelings for the female a part of him can be given to her. In our case my knowledge of High Inu." He paused, "It doesn't always happen like this, memories can be given, physical traits, and even heightened abilities."

Kagome tried to process all of this information. She went over his words a few times until she realized something.

Sesshoumaru watched her eyes as she realized the meaning his words had.

"But that would mean you-"

Sesshoumaru interrupted her, "Care about you? Yes." He stood up and looked outside into his garden. Rin and Shippo had Inuyasha pinned down and they were tickling him. "I didn't want to admit it to myself and especially not to you."

"Why?"

He turned to her, "If I did it meant that I followed the same path as my father; I would become my father." Sesshoumaru looked at her respectfully, "You got through all of my carefully placed barriers and even love me. No one has ever done what you have, many have tried. Some seeking my power, some for my looks, and even my wealth."

Sesshoumaru walked up to her, "You weren't looking for anything other than comfort. I was also seeking comfort, but that quickly turned to something more. You love me and though I don't know if what I feel for you is love I do have strong feelings for you." He wrapped his arms around her waist, "I may love you, but I cannot tell you the words you want to hear yet."

Kagome slid her hand up to his face and traced his magenta stripes. "I will wait until you are ready to tell me. Besides you already told me what I wanted to hear. I wanted someone to care for me and you do." She leaned up and kissed him lightly on the lips.

He returned the kiss eagerly. Sesshoumaru rubbed his lips against hers and growled low in his chest when she slid her arms around his neck. Pulling her closer to him Sesshoumaru deepened the kiss. Kagome moaned as his tongue ran across her lips.

She opened for him and he immediatly responded by pushing into her mouth. Kagome fought him for control, but gave up in the end. Her moans got louder as Sesshoumaru's hands began to wonder.

"My Lord?"

Kagome froze. She pulled away from the kiss and looked at Sesshoumaru. He was mad. Of all the times they had been together no one had ever interrupted them. Now someone had and Sesshoumaru was extremely aroused, she could feel it.

"What?" He bit out harshly.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, but your brother and Lady Shinjiru are looking for the miko. It seems she left the garden and hasn't returned yet. What do you want me to do?"

Kagome smiled, "I'm in here. Tell them I'll be right there."

"Of course my Lady." There was a pause, then, "Anything else?"

Sesshoumaru started to growl in disapproval, but Kagome's hand stopped him. She slid her hand over the bulge in his hakamas. His growl died in his throat and turned to into a groan. "No, thank you." Kagome looked up into Sesshoumaru's heated eyes. Shivers ran up and down her spine. Her hand stopped moving and stayed still over his arousal.

He was looking down at her in confusion. "You stopped."

"Yeah, I did. If I don't go Inuyasha will come here and I don't really want him to see this." She squeezed his arousal to emphasize her point. "I should go Sesshoumaru."

"And leave me here alone like this?"

She smiled at him. Kagome pulled his head down and leaned up so her mouth was next to his ear. "I will take care of it later." She pulled away, "I need a bath." Kagome walked over to the door and opened it. She walked slowly through it and shut it behind her.

He smirked at her not too subtle hint. He sighed and settled back into his chair. Now he wouldn't be able to concentrate for the rest of the day. Sesshoumaru stood and looked out the window where Inuyasha and Shinjiru were sitting with the kids. He calmed himself down and opened his window. With his body in check he jumped down.
