Chapter 15 – Reunited (and it feels so good)
When Kagome saw his bedroom the first time around, it was only part of the tour. She almost felt like a hotel guest, and he the bellman, as he showed her quickly where everything was. She’d stayed in the living room when he began to bring out her gifts, one by one, and when she’d changed, she ducked into the half-bath off the foyer. Now, that ridiculously large western style bed, that just seemed to stare at her through the open double-doors, was proving to be quite a distraction, as she tried to concentrate on the room service menu. After finally deciding on a little bit of everything, Inuyasha made the call down to the kitchen, and about a half hour later, dinner was served. At first Kagome was nervous as to why Inuyasha hadn’t put his hat back on, until she sensed the youki of the approaching waiter, even before he’d rung the bell. Kagome recognized his scent almost instantly that he was a wolf youkai, though not one she knew personally. But it did remind her of her friends, and she wondered how Inuyasha would feel if she asked about Koga and his pack. She decided she’d bring it up later. She was pulled from her reminiscing by how uncharacteristically polite the wolf seemed to be acting, especially towards an inu hanyou. But then again, Inuyasha was his boss, as the wolf dismissed himself, mumbling “enjoy your meal sir” or something to that effect. Inuyasha was equally polite, but Kagome had already grown accustomed, in this short period of time, to Inuyasha’s changed behaviors. As well as features, she reminded herself, as his boyish face has changed to that of a young man. It suited him well, she thought, especially since she, herself, had grown.
Inuyasha didn’t miss how throughout dinner Kagome would occasionally glance up at him sheepishly, while other times, she drifted her eyes over towards the bedroom, spiking her scent with the faintest hints of arousal. He hadn’t said or done anything suggestive throughout the entire evening, and if he didn’t know any better, he would have sworn Kagome was deliberately plaguing her mind with arousing thoughts, in an underhanded attempt at luring him with her scent. Like he needed to be lured!
After dinner, Kagome volunteered to push the cart outside. As she got herself up, and pushed the dinning cart across the hall, Inuyasha couldn’t help but smirk at how beautiful she looked in the Chanel, especially the black skirt, which wasn’t any longer than her school uniform. On her return approach, Inuyasha caught site of her mark, and instantly thought, how much he’d like to see her out of those clothes.
Standing up, he reached his hand to hers, and she accepted, taking his hand, as he led her over towards the bedroom. Kagome found that she had butterflies in her stomach, but not necessarily from being nervous, just anxious. After all, they’d already mated back in the feudal era, and she had the mark on her neck to prove it. Realization dawned in Inuyasha’s eyes, when he thought, to Kagome, their first coupling had only been one night ago. He wasn’t sure if he could hold back five centuries of pent up energy, but he would try his best, for her sake.
Turning around to face him, Kagome made the first move by kissing him again, stirring to life all the emotions she’d kept bottled up to that point. She could smell his arousal, and realized, he could smell hers as well, as she delicately played with one of his ears, while continuing to suckle on his lower lip. Suddenly, just as before, he dove towards her, knocking her over onto the bed, which she’d backed up to during their kissing. Once there, it was like a repeat of the night before, for her, except any hint of nervousness that may have been present in Inuyasha the first time around, was now replaced with adrenalin. He shrugged off his clothes without hesitation, while helping her to remove her own outfit, again resisting the urge to just slice it off with his claws. Once Kagome was once again naked below him, he paused, only for a moment, as he took in the scene before him, thanking Kami for finally delivering this day to him. They enjoyed each other long into the night, this time not worrying about the possibility of being caught. They finally surrendered to sleep not long before the sun was about to make its morning appearance, however, those thick hotel curtains of his, kept the bedroom as dark as night, as they slept ever so peacefully, embraced in each other’s loving arms.

The next morning, or after noon, rather, they awoke to the gentle, yet persistent, ringing of Inuyasha’s cell phone. Who dares? He thought to himself, as he stumbled across the room, and out the double doors into the living area, without even bothering to dress.
“Moshi moshi…”
“Good afternoon sir,” began the human on the other end of the phone.
Switching to English, Inuyasha replied, more spat really, “Who is this?” He was still half asleep.
“My apologies for disturbing you, sir, this is Brian, from Morgan Stanely…”
Crap, he thought, it was just his stupid American accountant. This could wait, couldn’t it?
“There have been some recent fluctuations in the-” he was cut off
“I don’t really care…..” Inuyasha began. Kagome’d heard the commotion by now and was wandering out into the living area as well, though she’d found a robe in the bathroom to dress herself with, first.
“I trust your judgment Brian, you do whatever you think is best.” He continued.
Kagome was amazed to hear Inuyasha speaking English, but figured, there was probably plenty of time to learn several languages over the years. Kagome understood enough from her English class in school to catch the next thing Inuyasha said.Glancing over at Kagome first, and winking, Inuyasha returned his attention to his phone, and said
“But I will give you a head’s up, I’ll be cashing out the ‘wedding’ account in a few days.”
Kagome’s increased hearing picked up the word “Congratulations” from the other end of the phone, before Inuyasha ended the call.
“Wedding account?” Kagome asked in her native tongue, letting Inuyasha know she’d understood him.
“Keh, well, I know we were going to have a small wedding, but…..” he paused, Kagome’s scent had spiked, which distracted him.
It wasn’t until then that he realized he was still naked. Blushing, he snapped his fingers a couple times to get her attention. When he saw her eyes dart back up to meet his, cheeks flushing furiously, he chuckled and continued….
“You deserve the wedding of your dreams. The rings you want, the dress you want, the flowers, the cake, food, everything, you name it, it’s yours.”
“You’d do all that for me?” Tears of joy threatening to breach her eyes.
“Well duh.” He joked playfully, pulling her into a loving embrace.
He released her quickly when he smelt the spike in her arousal again. If he didn’t go get dressed, and now, they’d never get out of this hotel room.
Finding her original outfit that she’d worn over here, Kagome got dressed as well, (with new shoes of course), and together, they headed down the elevator, out towards the back parking lot.
“We’re not taking the limo?” she questioned
“Nah, I’ll drive….”
“You can drive?”
“Keh, of course I can drive!” He snapped teasingly. He knew full well that everything would take Kagome some getting used to, so far, she’d handled the shock of everything surprisingly well.
They made their way down to the shrine, knowing it was time to fill Kagome’s family in on the rest of the details. Well, almost all the details, Kagome smirked, wondering if she should try to hide her mating mark from view.
Parking on the street, they walked slowly up the shrine steps, hand in hand. As soon as the grounds came into view, they both heard the screeching voice of Kagome’s grandfather, as he called after Sota to go tell his mother that Kagome was back. Even though the old man couldn’t make a sutra to save his life, he did have fairly decent senses, as he’d actually spotted the couple before they’d spotted him.
Running back outside, Sota stopped just a foot or two in front of the couple. Overjoyed would be an inadequate way to describe his expression. Suddenly, his brow furrowed in such a manner that suggested he was studying something, then finally mumbled “Inuyasha, is that really you?”
He keh’ed while Kagome giggled. Inuyasha was dressed fairly similarly to how he was the day before, when he’d picked Kagome up. He opted for simple black shoes this time, yet any shoes on the hanyou seemed out of character as far as her family was concerned. Baggy jeans were in place of dress slacks, but he wore another white fitted T, as well as the same black beret. He hadn’t bothered to redo his braid, so his hair was flowing freely, almost as they’d remembered it, except it was easy to tell that it was clean, and groomed, resembling more Sesshomaru’s hair, than the wild frizz they were used to. The long coat was a nice touch, Sota thought.
Walking over towards the door of the house, it was then that Kagome’s mother stepped outside. She took in Inuyasha’s appearance, but accepted it, as Kagome’s note had briefly mentioned something about Inuyasha being from this time, which she understood to mean, he’d lived through the last five centuries. Kagome’s mother was very intelligent.
“I must say….” She started, “...that this is quite a surprise.” She was referring to the entire situation, in general.
“I agree Mama.” started Kagome, “It took me a minute to get used to it, too.”
“What happened to the well?” she asked, gentle concern in her voice, as she knew, at least, nobody had apparently gotten hurt. (Kagome’s minor head wound had since healed, with the aid of Inuyasha’s powers.)
“Kikyo.” Inuyasha replied, the name dry and bitter on his tongue.
“Kikyo?” Kagome’s mother questioned. She knew full well who Kikyo was from Kagome’s various sob stories, whenever she’d come home broken hearted and crying her eyes out.
“She shoved me down the well tossing in a potion that made it explode….” Kagome offered.
“This happened yesterday?” Her mother was trying to piece the events together, as just yesterday, she’d only gone to the store for a moment, and when she came back, she saw her daughter’s note. She’d missed her by no more than two hours.
“From my perspective, anyway.” Kagome answered, giving Inuyasha’s hand a gentle squeeze and glancing over at him, pure love beaming in her eyes.
“For me,” he muttered quietly, “it happened 498 years ago.”
“You still look rather young.” Kagome’s mother commented, more to herself really, though both Inuyasha, and her daughter, had heard her perfectly.
“He used to jewel to make himself immortal.” Kagome explained.
Seeing that this was going to take a while, Inuyasha took a seat at the kitchen table, motioning for Kagome to join him. She obeyed, pulling a chair around to sit right next to him. Kagome’s mother interrupted as little as possible, as they continued to run down the events of what’d happened, from both Inuyasha’s point of view, as well as Kagome’s. One answer led to more questions, and before they knew it, it was dinner time.
“Inuyasha…..” Kagome’s mother began quietly, “I trust you will be joining us for dinner?”
“Keh, of course!” was his response, which made both Kagome, as well as her mother, chuckle slightly.
“I don’t think he’ll be letting me out of his sight any time soon.” Kagome added with a playful smile.
