InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A Cold Heart For a Dead Soul ❯ Death... ( Chapter 11 )
Chap.10
"It's almost time; they're entering city limits now. Where are you taking him?"
"Away. Come with us…"
"You know I can't. I'll slow you down. Just go."
"Sango… I just want to say, if I don't get another chance to, thanks."
"You're more than welcome my friend."
With that she walked upstairs and I sat back down on the couch to wait.

As I entered the room Inuyasha was in I sensed another presence, that of an elder. I looked up to see Naraku, the one I killed, the oldest elder known to me, to all the vampires. It was said he was a direct descendant of the first Nighter. I froze. He caught my eyes as I changed to my vampire form. "What are you doing?"
"He must die. He is one of them." He said simply.
"No, he's different."
"None of them are different; they will kill you in a moment's notice. Slaughter you, like they did your family, Kagome, he killed them… the monster that lies there in your bed killed them." His eyes turned to me in slight annoyance.
"He's changed."
"No he hasn't, he pulled a blade on you too, earlier today… did he changed from just a few hours ago?" he flung his hand and slammed the door behind me.
"He's kind now, he knows his limits, and he realized it before he killed me. He would give his life to me if the time came."
"This is the time. Will you give his life for your safety?"
"No, that's not my decision to kill him." I was trying to wake him with my mind. He finally stirred. Upon waking he rolled away from Naraku immediately and fell at my feet. Naraku moved around the bed towards him. I hissed, without thinking, I hissed. The elder looked at me with disgust.
"Don't you ever hiss at me fledgling." His voice was harsh but somehow I didn't waver as I grabbed Inu and dragged him to his feet. I put myself between him and Naraku.
"You'll have to kill me first…"
"That will be easy, bitch. My anger burns at you for getting me the first time."
"It will be the same outcome now, Naraku, as it was then. I am stronger than you know." I pressed my aura to his finding a weakness.
"And I…" he lunged at me. I moved away, pushing Inuyasha back with me.
"Kagome!!" Sango entered the room, her aura helping hold Naraku back. His flared at her slamming her into the hall wall. Inu looked at her and grabbed my hand. I met his eyes and knew he was going to do something.
"No…" I whispered to him. He nodded knowing I would kill him myself. I turned back to Naraku. I pressed my aura fully against his and got into his mind. He was an interesting person. His age was maybe thirty in human years, but by a vampire he was nearly two thousand years old. He had been tracking me down lately, and finally found me. Then I saw something that disturbed me. Souta, in his room, there was blood but I pulled my aura away before I could access the picture anymore.
I pushed Inu back into the hall Sango joining us in running. When we got to the living room, I grabbed them both and instantly was in Souta's room. The copper smell of blood filled my nose.
I let them both go and dropped to my knees at the sight before me. "No…" I whispered looking back at the lifeless form on the bed in front of me. Tears came to my eyes and when I stood Inuyasha looked horrified.
"You're crying blood tears." He said softly pushing one off of my cheek. Sango looked on.
"He was the last light in my life… now I have no emotions, no soul. My heart has grown dark and so has my spirit. Both of you stay here. When I return be prepared to kill me for I will have done the unthinkable and killed an elder… again."

She disappeared from view but I knew she was still in the house. She had found the old man dead too. I wept for her on the inside because I knew what it was to loose a human. I have lost many, so many I do not count anymore. I pity her, and I know she can kill him. Whether it be fury that drives her or the fact she has nothing left to live for she will kill him.
Then I look to him and know she does have something to live for. She has him, the half breed. "Her soul is not dead… she has lied…" was the thing that came out of his mouth, "but my soul matches her words. The child affected everyone around him. And now my soul is gone with him, to heaven or hell where ever he may be."
I watched as the slayer laid his head on the bed beside the boy and gripped his hand. I knew what he was only because of the elders. He closed his eyes and a light murmur told me he was saying a prayer as I turned and looked out the window to the house across the street.
A scream of pain stopped his prayer and me shiver. It was Kagome, she was hurt. If we entered now we would be killed, but he would not leave me alone. "We have to help her, if we don't the world won't live through the night. We are the only way the Nighters and youkai will stop fighting. Just come on please."
"What do you mean you are the only way…"
