A Deeper Destiny: Chapter Seven
Disclaimer: Inuyasha and co. are the creation and property of Rumiko Takahashi. I am merely a humble but obsessive worshipper. As far as I'm concerned, Jia Ren Qu, also known as the Beauty Song, is performed by Ziyi Zhang. I don't own the song nor the lyrics. Fukai Mori [Deep Forest] is written and performed by Do As Infinity and belongs to them.
To his surprise, she began to sing in Chinese, her steady, soothing voice filling the room. She followed the traditional ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum of all Chinese songs.

At the last note, a sleeve shot out in his direction, pulling Toukijin from his sheath. The sleeve twisted, moving in an arc, but was swiftly dodged by Sesshoumaru. Kagome pulled her shoulder back a little and the sword swung again, this time knocked away by Sesshoumaru. He growled, she smirked. He growled again, angered that he had allowed himself to be distracted. “Did you like my performance, Sesshoumaru-sama?” She asked, the title of respect contradicted by her tone. He remained silent. She huffed and pulled her sleeves back to herself.
“When did you sense me?”
“The second you opened the doors,” she said simply. He nodded, he would need to find a better way to mask his presence. “If my memory serves me right, I do believe the last time I saw you before I left, you promised me a dual.” He glanced at her, then moved to the wall and selected two swords. He tossed one to her, which she deftly caught in her right hand. Without giving her notice, he came at her, swinging the sword down at where she was standing, but the it came down on nothing but air as she quickly side stepped it. Adjusting quickly, he spun and slashed at her, effectively cutting the left sleeve of her robe. She narrowed her eyes and tore the fabric away. She blocked his blade with her own when he struck again, and twisted the blades so that she could push herself away. She back flipped on one hand and thrust her right sleeve out at him as she twisted in midair. Sesshoumaru staggered a bit as the sleeve struck his chest, not expecting it to have so much force. As she began to pull it back, he grabbed the sleeve and tugged-- hard. She came flying at him, but righted herself and pointed her sword at him. He swiftly moved to the left and promptly began to attack her. They pranced around, blocking and counter-attacking the other’s attack, calculating the other’s movements, trying to find a weak spot. Their blades clashed and Kagome slid back a little, her knees slightly wobbly. Sesshoumaru saw this and smirked, leaping into the air. He brought his sword down on her, only to have her block him with her own at eh very last second. He put his weight onto his blade, smirking at her. She smirked back at and deftly slid from under him, her sword sliding against his. Shocked, he fell to the ground and turned quickly, but it was too late. She stood before him, her sword pointed at his throat.
“Yield.” He growled at her and tied to raise his blade but she knocked it away with one of those damned sleeves. “Yield.” Her voice was steady, calm but her eyes flickered with amusement.
“I yield.” She smiled and relaxed her stance, lowering her sword. She offered him a hand.
“That was great, Sesshou!” He took her hand, but pulled her down; tossing her sword away and rolling so that she was beneath him. He straddled her hips and held her arms above her head with one hand while the other tickled her ribs. She laughed, her cheeks flushed. “Sessh! Stop!” She gasped. He smirked down at her.
“Yield.” Her eyes flashed for a second. He paused in his tickling when her laughs topped and her body stiffened. “Ka--” His breath left him with a whoosh as he somehow ended up on his back, Kagome straddling his waist. In his stunned state, she managed to tie his hands together with her torn sleeve. Staring up at her in shock, an attempt to rip the cloth told him it was reinforced with her miko. Smirking at him, she leaned over his body, catching the tips of his ear between her fingers. She began to rub them tenderly, forcing a gentle rumble to emit form his chest. She giggled, thinking it sounded very much like a purr. The Taiyoukai fought to keep his eyes open, glaring at his chest because of the soft growl he was giving off probably sounded like a purr to the miko on top of him. He raised his eyes a little and was greeted with the sight of Kagome’s breasts, pretty much popping out of the low cut dress beneath her robes. Ah yes, Chinese clothing suited her quite well. He watched as they moved up and down as she giggled, tracing the swell as it disappeared into the gold silk of her dress with his eyes. Really, it left nothing to the imagination. He was startled out of his observations when she said something. He looked up at her face and saw that she was staring at him strangely.
“Sesshou? Are you with me now?” He blinked. “I’ve called your name a couple times by now. Are you okay?”
“This Sesshoumaru is fine.” ‘Just ogling like hentai, that’s all.’
“Alright. Um, I’m going to go bathe. I’ll see you at breakfast?” He nodded at her and she slowly rose off his body. She offered him a hand, which lead him to raise a brow as he got up by himself. “Just tying to be nice,” she huffed to herself. He smirked, idly wondering if she knew that the hot springs she used was his personal hot spring. She was in the Lady of the Western Lands’ room, after all. He wondered if he should bathe as well. It would be one hell of a surprise for the miko in the next room. He gave her a nod and a quirked the corner of his mouth a little for her pleasure. She smiled brightly at him before turning into her room. As soon as the door closed he took off, using his Youkai speed to reach his room and throw off his clothes. He opened the sliding door into the hot springs and sat himself behind a large boulder. He listened intently, hearing Kagome move about her room. Moments later, he heard the shoji door open and soft steps. A rustle of silk later and his ears were greeted with the sound of something sliding into the water. He closed his eyes, imagining what she looked like on the other side of the boulder. He was about to reveal himself when her soft, lilting voice filled the steamy room; steadily growing stronger as she sang.

Her voice faded and yet he remained still. He sat motionless, eyes wide. He felt strange. He felt as though he had violated her somehow. Here she was, singing in the privacy of her bath; voice filled with so much emotion, practically spilling her soul out through her song. And this wasn’t one of those ‘heart songs’ she often sang in China. Those she did openly, where she allowed others to listen and witness the great spectacle that was her song. No, this was different. This was entirely something else. This was what she kept inside of her, what she never showed. This was her real pain.
Seven years, and she still hadn’t gotten over the death of her friends. And learning of Inuyasha’s death must have made it worse. All that trouble for the jewel, and her wish only lasted two years.
Seven years. They say time heals all wounds. . .well, that didn’t seem true for Kagome. When would she finally move on? When would she be truly happy? How much longer would she suffer until she finally found peace? So immersed in his thoughts, he almost didn’t hear Kagome as she left the hot springs. Rising slowly, he left the room as well, slipping into his clothes in a silent daze.
Jia Ren Qu [Beauty Song] By Ziyi Zhang
A rare beauty in the North
She is the finest lady on Earth
A glance from her, the whole city falls
A second glance leaves the whole nation in ruins
There exists no city or nation
That has been more cherished
Than a beauty like this.

Fukai Mori: Translations
I'm sure that the heart I left behind
Still lies hidden in the heart of the deep, deep forest
Exhausted, without the strength to search
People vanish into the infinite darkness
If it's so small,
I wonder if I can even see it now?
As we live on,
We lose a little bit more.
Shrouded in falsehoods and lies,
We stand frozen to the spot, unable to cry out
The days pass by and change,
Without us even realizing how blue the sky really is.
Overcoming that made-up scheme,
We live the present,
And our rusted hearts begin to beat again!
If we can find the rhythm of time,
We can fly once again.
We live our lives
Wandering to the ends of the earth.
Believing (in you?), now I begin my journey with you,
In search of the light.
As we live on,
We lose a little bit more.
Shrouded in falsehoods and lies,
We stand frozen to the spot, unable to cry out
We live our lives wandering to the ends of the earth.
Closing off
The way back,
We walk on for eternity.
We live our lives standing frozen to the spot,
Unable to cry out, for eternity...

Sesshoumaru paused in front of doors to the dojo. Through the thick, wood of the doors, he heard muffled movements and soft steps. He frowned, wondering who would be in the dojo at such an early hour in the morning. He carefully opened the door a crack, eyes widening at what he saw. Kagome, dressed in her usual glamorous robes, had her eyes closed and was going through a series of movements that seemed to be attacks and blocks for hand-to-hand combat. Her hair was not styled up as it usually was, today it hung in a braid down her back; swaying with her every move. He momentarily wondered how she could move so fluidly in her robes. Deciding that she was too caught up in her training to sense him, he stepped into the dojo and shut the door silently. After a few more moments, she ceased her onslaught of attacks and counter-attacks and began to spin and flip in the air, extending her arms out at intervals; her long inner sleeves flying out with great force and grace. Another spin and she pulled her sleeves back to herself, only for them to go flying in another direction. Sesshoumaru watched, mesmerized. The shifting of her body combined with the movements of her sleeves made it look like dance, a beautiful one, albeit a little complicated. Too caught up in her performance, he wasn’t aware that she had begun to move steadily closer to him.To his surprise, she began to sing in Chinese, her steady, soothing voice filling the room. She followed the traditional ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum ta-dum of all Chinese songs.
