Chapter 1
The First Meeting
"Daijobu, ka? (Are you alright?)" A face looming over me was my first memory. Golden eyes and long white hair were very distinct features I picked out right away.
"W-Where am I?" These are the first words I remember speaking.
"You're in the manor of the Lord Of The Western Lands." The boy said this as it was supposed to mean something to me.
"Which is...?" As I asked this the boy looked at me as though I was stupid. Which, now I realize, most people would think I was.
"Baka .(Stupid, idiot, moron, etc.) Who are you?" He seemed as if he would not dignify my previous question with an answer.
"Umm......" I thought for a moment before it came to me. "I think.... my name is Kagome..."
"You think?" He now looked at me as if I was the most pathetic thing in Nippon. (Japan)
"H-hai.(Yes can also be: okay, yeah, sure etc.) I can't remember anything..." The boy raised his eyebrow and then shouted:
"OI! Kaede- baabaa (baabaa is a rude suffix for elderly women)!"
"Yes?" An elderly woman suddenly came out of nowhere and, upon seeing me, nearly jumped out of her skin.
"N-nani? (What?) Could it be....." Could it be what, I wondered at the time. Later I figured out what. Or, should I say, who.
"Iie (No). She's not. This onna (woman) apparently can't remember anything."
"Oh? Something's bound to jog her memory. Does she know her name?"
"Kagome." I answered.
"Well, Kagome, pleased to meet you. I am Kaede and this is Inuyasha. I'm sorry that he is the first you meet upon arrival here."
"Watch it, baabaa."laughed silently watching the pair.
"Well, we can't stay here and interrogate her all day."
"You're right." Kaede-bachan looked surprised that Inuyasha agreed with her.
"OI! SHIPPOU!"
"A young kitsune also popped out of nowhere.
"What's up, Inuyasha?"
"Take this girl to the dungeons."
"INUYASHA!" Both me and Kaede-bachan (a common, polite suffix for elderly women) exclaimed at the same time. Meanwhile, Inuyasha was laughing his head off. When he saw no one was laughing he shut up.
"Well, I thought it was funny."
"You have no sense of humor."
"Watch it, onna."
"You watch it, baka."
"Bitch."
"Bastard."
"Asshole."
"Jerk."
"Idiot."< br> "Stupid."
"Moron."
"Loudmouth -"and Shippou simply watched on as insults were exchanged.
"Ya think we should stop 'em?" Shippou-chan (chan is a suffix used for children younger than you, close friends, or between girlfriends and boyfriends) asked.
"Hai. It's not like it'll be over anytime soon."
" - Look who's talking!"
"You started it."
"I did not!"
"Don't deny it!'
"I am!"
"Inuyasha, how about we give Kagome a room?" Inuyasha, the oh-so-ever-mature one stuck his tongue out at me and said: "No."
"Why not?"
"She's annoying."
"And you're not?"
"Nope."
"You are too!"
"Are not!"
"Are too!"
"Are not!'
"Are too!"
'Are not!"
"Are not!"
"Are too!"giggled. "Okay, you're not."looked triumphant, while Kaede-bachan and Shippou-chan looked like they were trying to contain laughter.
"Alright, give her a room. She'll cook with you, baabaa."
"Okay."
"What?"
"Come on, Kagome."
"Nani? Shippou?"was still confused as Shippou-chan led me out of the room to my room, but as it turned out, everything would be explained to me in a few minutes.
