I know it's been a bit but here is a new chapter finally. Enjoy! Once again I DO NOT own Inuyasha. I wish I did but I don't.

Chapter 4: The Father of Kai

In the weeks that passed, the group had begun to form a family bond. Miroku and Sango had greatly enjoyed getting to know their future children and would listen with smiles as they were told of funny stories of their future life. Inuyasha had also grown quite close Kyu. The two wrestled trying to see who was stronger. Kagome and Kai were the only two to not join in on the “happy parade” as Kai called it. She had refused any and all conversations with Kagome who had now given up. Kagome couldn't understand why Kai hid the detail of her life. Their relationship was not the only one suffering. Since the truth of where the teens had come from was told, Kagome and Inuyasha had barely spoken.

Later as everyone began to settle in for the night, Kai made her way quietly into the forest. Sango could tell Kagome wanted to follow her. “Kagome, try again” Sango said with a smile. Kagome looked towards the ground. “I want to. But what good would it do. She hates me” A tear fell as Kagome closed her eyes. Inuyasha looked over sensing Kagome's sadness. Miroku figured this was his turn to step in. “Inuyasha don't you believe it's time you speak to Kagome?” Inuyasha shot Miroku a mean look. “Why? Kai is older than Kyu. So it's obvious that she finds some other demon she likes more” Inuyasha began poking at the fire as Miroku sat beside him. “I don't believe that is true Inuyasha” “Then explain to me how her daughter is half wolf demon” Miroku searched his mind for a reasonable explanation to give him. He shook his head when he couldn't find one.

Kagome found that as usual lately she couldn't sleep. She looked at her watch. Kai had been gone for hours now. Why hadn't she come back? Kagome made her way into the woods. As she walked she began to have an odd feeling that someone was watching her. She began to hear twigs cracking behind her. When she turned to look and saw no one, her paranoid feeling grew. She called out to Kai. The forest grew quiet. She shivered as the chilly feeling reached its peak. She decided to walk back to the camp where she felt safe. Before she could take a step, a dark figure quickly dove out of the dark and began to carry her away.

Inuyasha and the gang awoke to Kagome's screams. They ran towards them Inuyasha greatly in the lead. Kai heard her mother's cries and ran to her aid. Kagome struggled to free herself. As she tried the demon carrying her laughed as if he was crazy. He ran in a clearing. As the full moon rose, its light filled the clearing. Kagome managed to free her arm and punched her kidnapper causing them both to fall to the ground. As she tried to run away the demon chased after her laughing manically. Inuyasha ran past her and knocked him to the ground. Sango, Miroku, Sano, and Siroku all rushed to Kagome's side. Inuyasha pulled his sword. “Time to die you piece of shit” As he rose to make his attack her heard Kai yell in the distance. Out of breath she jumped in front of the demon. “Inuyasha please don't kill him. Let him go” The demon behind her laughed a bone chilling laughed as he ran away.

Inuyasha was shocked by Kai's appearance. Her long dark hair, her eyes; she looked so much like Kagome. He quickly realized why he had not noticed the resemblance before. “So the night of the full moon is when you turn” Kai looked as if she was shamed and nodded her head. Kagome still shaken walked over. “Why let him go Kai? Do you hate me that much? DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE WAS PLANNING TO DO TO ME?” Kyu, Sano, and Siroku hung back as everyone began to crowd Kai. Each with looks demanding an answer. Even little Shippo had joined in along with the transformed Kilala. Kai no longer had the tough expressions she usually maintained. She had the looked of a scared girl. Inuyasha began to demand that she answer their questions. When tears began to form in her eyes Kyu decided it was time to step in. He walked over and hugged Kai. “Dad that's enough.” He motioned for Sano. “Kai go with them back to the camp. I need to have a talk with my father” Still fighting tears Kai agrees and walks away with Sano and Siroku. “What is it you know Kyu” Inuyasha had calmed himself now. Kyu stood up straight and gained a very serious look on his face. One that reminded everyone he was Inuyasha's son. “I know this is very stressful and you don't know what is happening. But it was wrong for you all to gang up on her like that. She is very venerable in her human form, not just physically but emotionally. She holds a lot in. In her human state she can't control her emotions anymore.” “Fine whatever she becomes a crybaby in human form. That doesn't explain her actions.” Kyu, feeling very protective of Kai fought back his anger. “You almost killed her” Inuyasha's anger began to rise again. “How? I hadn't even moved my sword yet.” Kyu took in a deep breath. He knew what he was about to say was going to cause major problems. “The wolf demon you tried to kill. He is….will be Kai's father. She stopped you because if you had killed him she would disappear.”

Later the next day. It had been a silent walk since dawn. Kyu had refused to tell them anymore. Instead of walking with Inuyasha he walked next to Kai who was now back to her demon form. It wasn't long before the silence was broke by Koga. “I need to talk to Kagome”

As Kai turned. For a second Inuyasha saw the same little girl look he had seen the night before. Inuyasha turned to Koga. “This isn't the time” “She's in trouble. One of my pack has gone rouge. He has become obsessed with Kagome.” “He attacked me last night” Tears started to fall as Kagome remembered. Koga became increasingly concerned. “Are you ok? Did he hurt you?” “No I'm fine Inuyasha stopped him” Koga nodded. Usually he would have boasted that he would have been faster or better than Inuyasha. But he could tell it was not the time for such foolishness. As he turned to leave he spotted Kai. “You who are you. You look like...” Kai stiffened up and before Koga had a chance to finish his sentence she did. “I look like Ookami” Koga nodded his head in agreement. But the rest of the gang was confused. “Whose Ookami” Shippo was the first the ask but everyone wanted to know. Maybe they could get some answers for once. “Ookami is my father”

Before anything else could be said Kai was hit from behind and knocked several feet away to the ground. The group turned to see Naraku. He let out an evil laugh as Kai got to her feet. “You'll pay for that”
