Hope you enjoyed the last chapter. This chapter does have a sort of dream sequence in it. You’ll know it’s that time because it will be written like this. Fair warning. This chapter does have a very dark part in it. So please pay mind to the age recommendation on the story. As always I don’t own Inuyasha.
Chapter 6: A Vision into the Future’s Past
Part one:
Inuyasha looked at Kai then looked back the old woman. Somehow she knew the future and claims to be able to share that knowledge with them. But how? While Inuyasha watched the old woman tend to Kai, Kagome was lost in her own thoughts. This woman could have the answers she’s been looking for. She could tell her why Kai hates her so much. Not only that but she could tell her how Kai even came to be.
The old woman finished tending to Kai and began mixing herbs together in a boiling pot. She sniffed the mixture and ladled it out into two cups. As she turned she handed the two cups to Inuyasha and Kagome. “What is this for” Kagome asked. “This is a special potion of my own creation. It will allow you to see into this child’s past” “How do we know we can trust you” Inuyasha said sternly. The old woman smiled and got her own cup of the potion. “Drink with me then hold hands with each other and lace the other hand on the girl” The woman drank from her cup then placed her hand on Kai’s forehead. A blue light began to surround Kai and the old woman. Inuyasha and Kagome both drank from their cups and joined hand while placing their other’s on Kai’s arm. Everything turned dark.
“Kagome, wait for me” Inuyasha playfully chased Kagome in a field. “Hurry up Inuyasha we’ll be late.” They arrived at a beautiful wedding. “How do I look Kagome” Sango said looking down at her kimono. Kagome smiled you look beautiful. Kagome and Inuyasha smiled as they watched Sango and Miroku marry. Everything was as it should be. Naraku was dead and the jewel was complete once again. After the wedding, Inuyasha and Kagome began to head back to Kaede’s village. Inuyasha stopped walking. ”Kagome... I have something to ask you” Kagome turned. Inuyasha could feel his face turn red. He was nervous but readied himself for what he was about to ask. “Kagome will you...” He was cut short by a figure grabbing Kagome and running off. “KAGOME” he yelled. “HELP INUYASHA” HE HEARD Kagome scream. “Inuyasha what’s going on we heard screams” he turned to see Sango and Miroku running his way. “Someone took Kagome. I’m going after him.” Inuyasha followed Kagome’s scent with Sango and Miroku following behind. Suddenly Inuyasha came to a halt. “What wrong Inuyasha” said Miroku out of breath? “It’s her scent. It’s…gone”
Kagome hit the ground hard. She looked around. She was in a cave. “Who are you? What do you want with me” The figure laughed and came closer to her. She could see he was a wolf demon. “My name is Ookami. I have watched you ever since you were first brought to our pack by Koga” Kagome’s eyes widened. “You are from Koga’s pack” Ookami laughed. “I was but I am no longer. A wise priestess told me you and I were destined to conceive a powerful offspring” “Eww, who told you that? What priestess” Kagome backed herself to the cave wall. “Why the lady Kikyo of course” Kagome gasped. Could Kikyo hate her this much that she would set something like this in motion? “I’ll never be with you. Inuyasha will save me” An evil smile came across Ookami’s face. He walked closer to Kagome and stroked her face. “He will have a hard time my sweet, I’ve covered our scents, and by the time he finally gets here the deed will have already been done.” He grabbed Kagome and began to drag her deeper into the cave.
Outside the cave, Kagome’s screams were heard by Inuyasha. “She’s that way” “Go we’ll catch up” yelled Miroku. Inuyasha ran as fast as could. He finally came to the cave. He could hear Kagome scream from the inside. “KAGOME” he ran inside the cave. ”TETSUIGA” he yelled as he slashed the wolf demon in half. Coughing on blood the demon the demon let out a chilling laugh “The deed is done” He closed his eyes and died. Inuyasha gathered Kagome in his arms. She cried heavily as she embraced him. “He…..he…” Inuyasha stopped her. He knew what had happened. “It’s over own now. I’m here” He carried Kagome out of the cave. Miroku and Sango were waiting.
Several months later once again Kagome’s screams could be heard. “Inuyasha stop pacing” Sango smiled as she said this. They were all sitting outside Kaede’s hut. Inuyasha continued to pace back and forth. Finally a baby’s cries could be heard. Kaede emerged from her hut. “Ye need not worry now. Kagome and her child are alright. Ye have a girl Inuyasha” Inuyasha smiled as he ran inside. But was met with Kagome in tears. He looked inside the basket and saw not his child but a half wolf demon child. He held Kagome. “She’s his” He lifted Kagome’s face and gently kissed her. “It’s ok. It doesn’t matter”
Leaving Kagome to rest, Inuyasha ventured out into the woods. As he walked he noticed a soul collector pass him. “Kikyo, what do you want.” He turned. Kikyo smiled and walked closer to him. “I want to be with you Inuyasha” Kikyo leaned in to kiss Inuyasha. He pushed her back. “No, our time is over Kikyo. I’m with Kagome.” “You choose her. She who bore the wolf demon Ookami’s child.” Inuyasha looked at the ground. “Inuyasha show me that you have not forgotten our love.” Kikyo leaned in for another attempt at a kiss. But this time was not stopped. The sun rose over the tree tops as Inuyasha awoke. He looked over at a sleeping Kikyo and instantly regretted what he had done. He began to get dressed as Kikyo woke. “This will never happen again “he said as he walked away.
A year later. Kagome looked out the window of the home she and Inuyasha had built together. Just slightly to the left of the house was the bone eater’s well that had fist brought Kagome to this time. In the clearing in front Inuyasha was teaching an infant Kai to walk. Inuyasha rose suddenly. He knew whose scent that was. He felt a tug on his leg. “Kagome I’m taking Kai for a walk in the forest.” “Hurry back” she called to him. Inuyasha carried Kai on his shoulders as he walked through the trees. He finally came to who he had been looking for. He sat Kai down. “Kikyo do you ever give up” She turned to look at Inuyasha. He was surprised to see her holding a baby. One who looked exactly like him. “This is our son Inuyasha. I wish you to raise him with me” Inuyasha was stunned. He looked at Kai playing with a butterfly. “I’m not coming with you Kikyo. I have a family.” Kikyo narrowed her eyes then placed her hand on the baby throat. “What are you doing” Inuyasha said in shock. “If you do not come with me I shall kill this child. You are meant to be with me Inuyasha. Leave that wench and her half breed bastard child and come with us” Inuyasha nodded his head and picked up Kai and began walking home. Kai had fallen asleep on the walk home. He laid her in her bed. “Kagome come outside we need to talk.” Kagome feeling worried and confused followed him outside. “What’s going on Inuyasha” She noticed Kikyo standing a little ways in the distance. “I’m leaving with Kikyo” Kagome gasped. How could Inuyasha say this to her. He began walking to Kikyo. Kagome yelled out to him. “Inuyasha stop, tell me why” Inuyasha stopped. It was like a dagger striking his heart. He turned to see Kagome in tears. He wanted nothing more than to comfort her. He knew she would try to follow him. He could take the risk that she, Kai, or his son could be hurt. “I’m going with Kikyo because she has a son. He’s mine. Kagome couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Kikyo walk forward. It had to be true. The baby in her arms looked just like Inuyasha. “Allow me to introduce you to Kyu. Come Inuyasha” He turned to leave with Kikyo. “INUYASHA” He fought off tears as he heard Kagome cry out for him, but continued on.
Kagome and Inuyasha opened their eyes. They both looked around trying to see if what they had seen was just a dream. When they looked on the feverish Kai they saw that it was not a dream but a vision. The old woman gathered they cups. Inuyasha and Kagome looked at each other then looked away. Both were trying to think of something to say after what they had seen. The silence was broken by the old woman. She handed them full cups once again. “Ready to see more?”
This chapter has been the longest one yet. It was going to be much longer because there is so much left to tell, but I decided to make the story of the future into two parts, maybe three. Hope you have enjoyed the story so far. Please read and review.
