InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A New Sibling ❯ Explanations... ( Chapter 12 )
O…kay…Wanderer! Never had a review from you before, but thanks for that! I enjoy constructive criticism! Heh heh heh…ahem…anyways! Glad to know that I actually have new people reading my fanfics! Banzai! RFP, I meant no offense toward Kuzume, but I will explain everything later…Okay!
Quote of the chapter is:
"You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!'" - Dave Barry.
No movie quote today, except:
"Yeah! I'm a llama again…wait…" - Kuzco from "The Emperor's New Groove".
I also suggest that everyone read "Dragon's Bait" by Vivian Vande Velde. This is not a fanfic. It is an actual book that I found at the library one day. I have now, officially, read this book 7 times!!! It's just that good!

*Dining Hall*
"Wait…Let me get this straight." InuYasha was more than just a little confused. He knew that Ayumu had lied to them - Sesshoumaru had told them that - but he never would have guessed that that was what she had lied about! "You and Sesshoumaru are twins?!"
"Yes, InuYasha. For the fifth time, I am Sesshoumaru's twin." Ayumu gave a huge sigh as she lifted her head from the palm of her hand.
"Is there anything else you would like to share with us?"
She glanced at Miroku and closed her eyes to think on it.
<Let's see…I told them about my being Sesshoumaru's twin…Was there anything else?>
"Ahem." Sesshoumaru cleared his throat to get her attention. "I believe you owe an explanation of the past few days."
"Does this have something to do with your voice, Sesshoumaru?" Sango turned around to look at him as he curtly nodded his head.
"Well," Ayumu continued. "I suppose the best way to explain would be to say that when he crushed the jewel, my body had to realign my youki with my consciousness. Until that happened, I had to transfer into someone with an identical trace. That, my friends, would be Sesshoumaru."
She motioned towards him and he thought to snort at her for the comment, but decided against it. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that she had gotten on his nerves.
Getting the point of Sesshoumaru's silence, Ayumu gave a small smirk and went on. "Whenever Sesshoumaru spoke, he also had to use my voice and vice versa. Believe me, it wasn't too pleasant."
She gave a pointed glare at Kuzume which would have gone unnoticed had Kuzume and Sesshoumaru not been watching her. As Ayumu looked to Sesshoumaru, he returned the glare and so on went the small glaring contest for a few moments.
Kagome, sensing the tension between them, decided to make sure she was understanding Ayumu. "So," everyone drew their attention from Ayumu and Sesshoumaru to Kagome. "You are Sesshoumaru's twin, you occupied half of him for several days, and you lied to us?"
"Yea, I suppose that would sum it up…"
"Would you mind explaining why we couldn't touch you to keep you down back at Naraku's castle?"
Ayumu glanced at Sango, then at her shoes. Luckily for her, it was night, and the only thing lighting the room were some candles in some lanterns around the room, and she had the best eyesight in the dark. She had started to blush from embarrassment.
"I-I…well, what I mean is…ano…Whenever I am enraged, just as Naraku made me, I have a slight transformation."
"This would be…?"
She looked up at InuYasha as he prompted her to continue.
"Her skin becomes as a burning poison to those that touch it. One may know this when her eyes hold nothing. They were but deep abysses. This is how I knew."
The entire room grew eerily silent as Sesshoumaru answered for Ayumu.
"How deadly is this poison?"
"Do you value your hand?"
Miroku looked at Ayumu, confused by her question. It depended on which hand you were talking about, but he did.
"Yes, I do…to a certain extent."
"Then, I would suggest not trying to touch her skin."
"Yes, brother is correct. If you were to even touch a fingertip to my arm, it would be enough to destroy your hand just past the wrist."
Once more silence fell over the room as they took in these new bits of information being told to them. It was not everyday one learns his sister is a walking poison bomb, ready to kill anyone who dared touch her.
This said, Ayumu decided to take her leave. She slowly stood and everyone followed suit. It was getting late, and they needed rest and time to sort everything out.

*Ayumu's bed chamber*
Ayumu sat down on the edge of her bed, watching the stars from behind her window.
"Come in," she said as she smelled Sesshoumaru approach the door.
He slid it open, closing it after stepping inside. He walked over and sat next to Ayumu, not saying anything for a few moments.
"Where did you go?"
"Naraku kidnapped me, remember?"
Sesshoumaru sighed at her lack of cooperation masking as cooperation. She knew exactly what he meant and he knew that.
"Where were you after Father died?"
Ayumu inwardly cringed at his firm tone and the fact that he had not given up when she did not answer how he wanted.
"I…I couldn't take this place, this family, anymore!" Ayumu yelled exasperatedly, falling back on the bed - this time not hurting her shoulder. "I had to get away from here, from you."
"Why is that? What could you have possibly needed to get away from?"
<I know exactly where this conversation is going to end…but I suppose that it was going to happen eventually anyway…>
"I needed to get away, because…I knew I was no good here. I couldn't help with anything. That is proven by the fact that Kuzume is around." Ayumu spat out her name as if it were a horrific slug stuck on her tongue.
"You have no right to talk about Kuzume that way, sister."
Sesshoumaru was starting to lose his patience with Ayumu already, and they had hardly even begun their conversation. `It's been worse before…'
"Well," Ayumu sat up, almost out of patience herself. "Did you honestly need to bring her here?! I don't care if she is your soon-to-be mate or not!"
"You will not speak of her that way, Ayumu!"
She stood up and glared down at him until he stood, eyes level with his own, identical to his own. "I can if I want to, and believe me, I want to."
"I do not care what you want, sister! You will show Kuzume respect or you will answer to me!"
"I will answer to NO ONE!" Ayumu was mere inches from his face and both were practically screaming at the top of their lungs.
At her outburst, Sesshoumaru grabbed her upper arm and dragged her just a little closer, his nose almost touching hers, his claws digging into her flesh, bringing forth blood. Ayumu winced and clenched her teeth in pain, eyes slightly widening as Sesshoumaru tightened his grip a little more.
"You, sister," Sesshoumaru said in a deadly whisper, "will refrain from raising your voice at me. You will show each of us respect, and you will explain your travels when told to do so. Until that time comes, I expect you will confine yourself to your chambers."
He released her arm, allowing her to fall to the floor, holding her arm to help stop the bleeding. He made his way back to the shoji door. As he opened it and was about to leave, he heard Ayumu talking to him while she pulled herself to her feet, glaring at his back as she watched him leave.
"I will show you respect when you earn and deserve it, brother. And, next time, don't bother asking why I needed to get away from this hell hole I once called home…"
Sesshoumaru turned around only to find her back turned to him as she went onto the balcony to gaze at the stars once more. He sighed once more and closed slid the door closing, wishing he could just talk to her once without having to yell at her, letting the entire citadel know what they were saying.

Okay, so the stars and waves don't go all the way across the screen, but they do on Microsoft Word. Anyways, that was rather…interesting…um…hope you liked it!
If you haven't noticed, I've been working hard at having over 1,000 words in each chapter. I try for at least over 1,500 sometimes, but don't quite make it every time…
Happy Reading,
Taiyoukai Ayumu of the Northern Lands
P.S. - If you wanted to know, my profile is up so everyone can read about me! Banzai! Okay, well, that's all!
P.S.S. - I forgot! My "inspiration" for this chapter was Utada Hikaru. By inspiration, I just mean that I was listening to her songs while writing it…I especially listen to "09 Uso Mitaina I Love You"
