Chapter Two
It had been two hours since he sent Jaken to tend to the girl's wounds. He wondered what was taking him so long to return. He began wondering about that strange girl. He remembered her from some of his dreams and wondered why she was even in them. Until last night her countenence had been blurry. When he seen her face in the dream he thought she was an angel, with her deep blue eyes and midnight black hair. But when Naraku showed up with those slaves, and he saw the same girl, he was shocked temperarily. The angel from his dream was ningen. A strange one too. He had never seen any ningen with eyes like hers. All the other ningen he had crossed, had a shade of brown or even black, but not blue.
Then when her sister, he assumed, told her to calm down, and Naraku struck at her, the girl's anger rose and so did her powers. He had never seen any ningen with such power either. He quessed she was a miko, but still hadn't known any mikos who had such power. *Maybe they hide their power with powerful spells.* Sesshomaru thought. *This girl holds several mysteries. I shall have to figure them out.* He wondered down the long hallway in his castle. He was going to check on Jaken to see what was going on when he heard a high pitched scream coming from his room. He narrowed his eyes and rushed to his room.
Jaken opened the door to Sesshomaru's bedroom, where the ningen girl was resting. *Why do I have to the dirty work? Why would Sesshomaru-sama have me do this?* As soon as the door was open, there was a bright light surround the room. He cursed his luck and wondered how he would get through a barrier this strong. Then he wondered how a ningen could be able to produce a barrier that could almost rival Sesshomaru's, and the ningen was asleep! *It's a good thing I've been trained to break barriers.* Jaken thought as he began breaking the barrier.
After an hour of trying to break it, he reached the last of it, which was the strongest part. It took him another half an hour before he was about to break it. When he was about to curse his luck, the girl woke up. *Now the ningen wench awakes!* As he entered fully into Sesshomaru's room, the girl finally noticed him and she screamed. *No!* He thought. "Shut up you filthy ningen wench!"
Kagome woke up slowly. She had the same dream again and sighed. She felt a dull ache in her back and remembered the events of that day. She remembered waking up...going to the lake...and....being attacked, kidnapped, and made into a slave. Then the picture of the silver haired man entered her thoughts. *He was there! He is real! He's not a dream! And..then after being attacked by that Naraku man...Kikyo...knocked me out? Why did she do that? And....*
Kagome looked around the room. It was huge, with a king-sized bed, a chair sat on the left of the bed, three doors, one on each wall besides the one behind the bed, and a wooden floor. Then she looked at the walls. They were painted just like a forest, and on the wall on her right was a giant white dog howling at a crescent moon that hung low in the sky. *....where am I? Why would I be in such a beautiful room?* Then Kagome noticed a small toad thing walking towards her. She squealed loudly and backed up on her bed. *What is that thing?!*
"Shut up you filthy ningen wench!" The toad yelled. Kagome narrowed her eyes at the name he called her and grabbed a pillow behind her and chucked it at the toad. It barely dodged it, and began waving his staff as he ran up to her. "Why you-" He started but Kagome took the staff and used it like a bat and swung at the toad, sending him flying across the room to where he entered.
Sesshomaru opened the door to his bedroom and saw that the girl was using Jaken's staff against him and hit him, sending him flying in his direction. Sesshomaru stepped to the left slightly, Jaken slamming into the wall barely a foot away from him. The small toad youkai was almost unconscious. "Jaken, you may leave now." Sesshomaru spoke softly but emotionlessly.
"Yes, Sesshomaru-sama!" Jaken rushed out of the room. Sesshomaru walked slowly to the ningen girl who was sitting up on her knees. She glared at him. Sesshomaru sat in the chair next to her. Kagome edged towards the right as he did so.
"What is your name?" Sesshomaru asked not really caring if she gave him an answer or not. Kagome glared at him, but Sesshomaru could sense a strong fear in her. *Why is she so afraid? I expected some fear to radiating from her but not this much....*
"K-Kagome." She answered queitly.
"Kagome, why are you scared? I will not hurt you."
Kagome stopped glaring and looked down at her hands. "Well....I've never...I've never seen a..." She sighed. "You are...the second man...I've ever seen in my life...."
Sesshomaru was shocked. *Where could she come from, not to ever see a male before?* He wondered, then she continued talking.
"You see...I lived on a small island where only women were allowed. There were special barriers put around it so men wouldn't enter. Then that Naraku person came...and kidnapped me and my- Kikyo!" Kagome shot up. "Where's my sister?" She asked, panic rising in her voice.
"She is eating breakfast in the dining hall. I set the other women free, as well as her, but she said she wanted to wait for you. You may eat with her if you like."
"Really?" Kagome asked, relief, hope, and excitement filling her voice.
"But first, let me check your wound." Sesshomaru said, standing up and walking over to Kagome. She let him lift the back of her shirt high enough to see the wound but nothing else. Sesshomaru looked at the wound, amazed. It was almost completely healed. "How is it that you, being ningen, heal so fast? Ningen usually take forever to heal."
"Hmm? I really don't know. Maybe it has something to do with being a miko.."
"So you're a miko?" Sesshomaru asked, confirming his earlier suspicions.
"Sort of. I was born a miko, but I was never trained. I didn't really want to become the island miko. But my sister is also a miko, so she trained." Kagome explained.
"Ah. Very well. I will have my ward escort you to the dining hall. Wait for her to come."
"Thank you, Sesshomaru-sama." Kagome bowed her head as he turned and left the room. Kagome waited quietly for his ward to come.
