Chapter Three
Kagome jumped at the knock on her door. Following the knock, the door opened and a small girl entered the room. She had brown hair and borwn eyes. She looked at Kagome happily, bowed, and walked toward her. Kagome stood as the girl stood in front of her.
"Ohayo! I'm Rin! What's your name? Are you staying here forever? Will you be my new okaasan?" The little girl questioned curiously.
"Ohayo, Rin. My name is Kagome, and I have no idea how long I'll be staying. Um...I don't think I can be your okaasan, but I can be your friend!" Kagome smiled down at the little girl. Rin smiled back.
"Yay! I have a friend! I've never had a friend before. All the other ladies walk away from me when I try to talk to them. They never want to be my friend like you do!" Rin smiled even bigger.
"Those other ladies must be pretty mean then." Kagome commented.
"Yeah! Come on! Sesshomaru-sama wants me to take you to the dining hall to eat!" Rin pulled on Kagome's hand and walked down the hall to the dining room. As soon as the door was opened Kagome saw her sister sitting at a table eating some rice. Rin pushed Kagome into the room. "Bye Kagome-chan!" Rin ran from the room.
"Kikyo-nee-chan!" Kagome rushed over to where Kikyo was. Immediately she stood and allowed Kagome to hug her. After a few moments, Kagome pulled away. "Why did you knock me out yesterday, nee-chan?"
"That is what I want to talk to you about." Kikyo replied.
"What do you mean?"
"Now, save all your questions for the end. I want to explain this first."
"Alright." Kagome promised.
"Your powers....mother had hoped that they would remain dorment forever. But, that has not happend. They surfaced when your anger rose yesterday. Kagome...you're not ningen. Nor youkai or hanyou." Kagome was about to say something but closed her mouth instantly. "You were brought to our island when I was two. You were just an infant then. That's why I look older then you. You are only fifteen. "
"You mean...we are not kin? Oops. Sorry." Kagome placed her hands over her mouth.
"That's alright. And no, we are not. Before mother passed away, she found out what you really are."
"What am I then?" Kagome asked.
"You are a Shiroi Miko. That, is a miko, who has more power than any other mikos, maybe even combined. No one really knows. Shiroi Mikos are rare. Born once every thousand years."
"Oh..... So, what about my powers?"
"They will continue to grow, until a certain time. I don't know when. But, without control of them, you could kill or purify any ningen or youkai."
"Wow......." Kagome said. "Um.....so, where are we going to go? We don't exactly know how to get back to out island." Kagome changed the subject.
"Sesshomaru-sama said that we are able to stay as long as we need to. When we find out how to return, then we will leave." Kikyo replied. Kagome nodded and sat down. She began eating her breakfast while Kikyo finished her remaining rice.
Sesshomaru leaned away from the door, and began walking around his castle. *So, no wonder why the girl is so strange. A Shiroi Miko. I've heard stories about them, and since she is untrained, she really can purify me. I must begain training her, somehow.* Sesshomaru thought as he decided to see where his little brother was.
