A Past Revealed Ch. 4
Months after Inuyasha Incident

It was a beautiful spring day. Inuyasha could smell the flowers and could also smell the rain in the air. He could tell he still had a few more hours to play before it came pouring down. Inuyasha had been given a stick sword to play with by Kainen. The smith had told the young hanyou that he would be gone away for a few days to visit someone's grave. But, he was to arrive back in the village today.
Inuyasha was walking through the forest slaying imaginary demons when he caught a strange and unusual scent - it was that of a powerful demon. As he moved in closer he soon lost it and came upon Kainen as he walked through the forest, making his way back to the village.
"Kainen you're back." Inuyasha yelled as he ran to the man.
"Hey, Inuyasha, yes I'm back. Did you stay outta trouble?" Shiro queried.
"Yes, I never get into trouble." was Inuyasha's reply. "Umm, Kainen, I know human noses aren't that good, but did you smell a powerful demon nearby? I was tracking one when I came across you and the scent disappeared."
Shiro was not surprised, he hadn't been wearing his concealment ring until he picked up Inuyasha's scent and fumbled around to get his ring back on. He knew Inuyasha had picked up on his scent.
"Inuyasha, you know better than to go tracking a strange demon. They are dangerous and don't exactly take to hanyous." Shiro lectured.
It was then that Shiro picked up on a new scent and could tell that Inuyasha had picked it up as well. He quickly told Inuyasha to run back to the safety of the village. He drew Sesshin and was making a battle stance and saw that Inuyasha had not gone. He turned and looked at the pup.
"Inuyasha, I can take care of this. Quickly, run back to the village. NOW!!!!" Shiro yelled at the pup.
Inuyasha got the message and began making his way back to the village, stopping every now and then, looking over his shoulder at Kainen. He saw the man with his katana and saw that it started to glow. He didn't waste another second, he ran all the way back to the Manor that his mother was in and stayed by her side were it was safe.

InuToshiro was standing ready to take on the demon that dared to show his face. Shiro waited until the demon had walked up to him to speak to the demon.
"What are you doing here, Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western Lands?" Shiro bellowed.
Sesshoumaru was taken by surprise that a human would dare stand up to him. He had no second thoughts of killing this human. Though the thing that stopped him was the power emitted by the human's sword. Only a powerful demon could wield such a blade. Sesshoumaru glanced at Tensaiga, the useless sword his father had bequeathed to him.
"This Sesshoumaru does not need to answer a pitiful human's questions. I will however take your sword from you." Sesshoumaru answered in his toneless voice.
Shiro laughed at the demon lord. He knew that Sesshoumaru was full of himself when he had first met him in the great war. But, this was ridiculous. Shiro grabbed his ring and pulled it off his finger and reveled in the expressionless, but wide eyed, face of Sesshoumaru.
"I am no human, Sesshoumaru. You know who I am. I had been trying to contact you for some time. But, soon I gave up after I decided that you would never take care of your family." Shiro lectured.
Sesshoumaru quickly regained his composure. So, InuToshiro was still alive. He thought that he might be close by his father's bitch and half breed son. He then decided on what to do. He could battle the demon, though as much as he hated to admit it, he would probably loose. He had seen InuToshiro fight and he was a force to be reckoned with.
"Tell me, InuToshiro. Does that half breed or his mother know that you are here watching over them?" Sesshoumaru asked.
"They do not and you will not tell them. Is that understood?" InuToshiro explained.
"Fool, how dare you tell this Sesshoumaru what he can and cannot do."
Sesshoumaru was to the breaking point. This insolent dog would not berate him. He began walking close to the dog demon before him. As he walked by him he told him that he was here to check on the hanyou and his mother. That he had no intention of harming them or telling them of InuToshiro's secret.
Shiro lowered his sword as he listened to Sesshoumaru. He new that he had beaten Sesshoumaru but that the demon lord was not admitting defeat. That was fine with Shiro as long as Sesshoumaru behaved. He smiled as he put his concealment ring back on and sheathed Sesshin.

Kainen walked through the village toward the Manor that Izayoi was living in and had a dog demon behind him. Inuyasha watched the two as they walked through the gates. He heard a messenger call to his mother that she had guests waiting for her. Inuyasha tagged along beside his mother to go see who this demon was and what had happened to Kainen.
As Izayoi entered she saw Kainen and Sesshoumaru. She knew that Sesshoumaru could smell the fear that radiated from her now. The demon had never liked humans, much less the one that had took his mother's place at his father's side.
Sesshoumaru nearly smiled at the amount of fear that he smelled coming from Izayoi. She should be afraid, he had the right to kill her and the half breed in an instant. He knew that InuToshiro, or Kainen as he called his human form, would not have it.
"Izayoi, I see you have fared well in my absence. How is your son, Inuyasha?" Sesshoumaru queried, keeping up the formalities.
Izayoi finally found her voice to speak and told him of what has happened over the past since InuTaisho's death. She saw him nod then look behind her at Inuyasha. She could have sworn that he gave her child a glance that could have frozen water in the heat of the summer.
"Lord Sesshoumaru, you are welcome to stay with us if that is what you wish." Izayoi offered hoping Sesshoumaru would refuse.
"I will stay for one night, then I must be off to attend to duties of my own." Sesshoumaru said much to Izayoi's dislike.
Izayoi called a servant and had her escort the Lord to his room. When he was gone she went over to Kainen and asked if he would stay with her son tonight and watch over him. She saw him nod and go over to Inuyasha's side and ask him to show him to his room. Once that was over she began her way to speak to Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru waited in his room for the Lady Izayoi to come to him. He knew she would and was expecting her when she opened to door and walked up to him.
"Izayoi, you will tell me the location of the Tetsusaiga. I have been searching far and wide and still have not found it. I can only assume that you know its location." Sesshoumaru said in his normal icy tone.
"So, that's what you came here for, the sword. Sorry to disappoint you my lord, but I have no idea of the sword's location." Izayoi said relieved she found his purpose for being here.
"Very well, you will leave me now." Sesshoumaru stated, and watched as Izayoi left.
Sesshoumaru soon left and tracked down the hanyou. He found him and Kainen outside in the forest wandering about.
Inuyasha was thinking about the strange demon that called himself Sesshoumaru. He had never seen a full dog demon, he was in awe over the man. His expressionless face told of great power and responsibility. He couldn't wait to talk to the demon if he ever got the chance.
Inuyasha picked up the demon's scent and was soon taken aback at the demon's speed when he arrived in front of Inuyasha. Inuyasha saw Kainen tense and reach for his sword but stopped before drawing it. Inuyasha just stood there in front of Sesshoumaru.
"You are Inuyasha correct?" Sesshoumaru queried, he had seen the pup behind his mother at their first encounter.
"Yes, I am Inuyasha." Inuyasha said not knowing what else to say.
"Know this Inuyasha, you may be my half brother, but I despise you. You are a worthless half breed and will never amount to anything....." Sesshoumaru had to stop as a sword came flying at him.
"I will not have you corrupt this boy's mind, Sesshoumaru." Shiro said coming at him.
Inuyasha watched as his so called half brother fought Kainen. The demon and Kainen fought with such grace and ease that only experience could bring. Inuyasha again was in awe over this dog demon. Even if he despised him he couldn't help but look up to his older brother. Soon he saw Sesshoumaru back off and Kainen halt his attack, the two had come to a draw. He watched as Sesshoumaru turned his back and walked off to disappear once again into the forest.
"Inuyasha, pay no attention to what Sesshoumaru says. He is full of hatred for everyone other than himself." Shiro told Inuyasha.
"Still, he might tell me about my father. Mother won't tell me much about him." Inuyasha said in a sad tone.
Shiro felt for the pup. He knew that Inuyasha had never known much about his father. He still didn't want him talking to Sesshoumaru about it, but he couldn't stop it if the pup really wanted to do it.

Inuyasha woke to screams in the night, he quickly awoke Kainen and they went together to find the sources of the screams. As they got to the courtyard they could see demons everywhere. Inuyasha was told to go back to his room and not let anyone he didn't recognize enter.
Shiro watched Inuyasha go, as he drew out his sword and went into the crowd of demons attacking the manor. He took off his concealment ring and watched all of their eyes go to him. He raised Sesshin and released its destructive energy. Demons went flying and soon Shiro had his whip out and was destroying two and three demons at a time. Shiro's blade sang its tune as its energy was released again and again. Soon Shiro had finished off every single demon in the courtyard and began making his way toward Izayoi's room.

Inuyasha was running back to his room and caught a glimpse of Sesshoumaru watching something. Inuyasha crept over and slowly sneaked around to a place where no one could see him and he could watch everything.
Demons were going after Sesshoumaru and he quickly dispatched them with a flick of his demonic whip. Then he just stood there and watched Lady Izayoi run out of her room with demons behind her. He watched as they caught her and started to devour her. He ran up to them and used his poison claws to kill the demons that had struck Izayoi before they were able to feast upon her body. With that he turned and left the Manor.
Inuyasha watched as Sesshoumaru waited and then attacked the demons who had injured his mother. Through teary eyes he saw the full demon leave his mother where she lay. He couldn't believe what had just happened. His brother had been fast enough to kill the demons before they laid a hand on his mother. Why hadn't he killed them before they injured her? Inuyasha vomited on the floor and passed out from his grief as he caught the scent of death in the air.
Shiro made it to Izayoi's room to see her sprawled in the hallway and dying. He made it to her and lifted her head just for her to catch a look at him for her to realize that he was InuToshiro. She smiled and looked at him with pleading eyes. He told her that she didn't need to worry. He would watch over Inuyasha for as long as he lived. He just watched as Izayoi acknowledged him and soon passed into death.
As Shiro laid her head down, he caught the scent of Inuyasha. He slipped his ring on and found the pup unconscious. Shiro picked him up and soon had him in his hut on the outskirts of town.
