Dem: Ok guys I know I said I would have more time to update but I was wrong…life just got a little to hectic for me and I had a lot of things to sort out. But now I'm back and hopefully I can get this updated more often.

Inu: Hey *laughing hysterically* tell them where you work!

Dem: Shut up InuYasha I know I have a stupid job and it sucks! I work at a hallmark and really hate it! If anyone out there has a boss or manager who is a total bitch or asshole let me know! Let me know I'm not alone!

Inu: *Rolls on floor laughing*

Dem: Shut up InuYasha! Or I'll tell Kagome what you thought of her cooking last night!

Inu: ………

Dem: Mmhmmm. That's what I thought! But yes I am sorry for taking so long! And without further ado! CHAPTER 9!!!!!!

Chapter 9: The Downfall

Kagome woke up on her stomach and stared at the wall for a while when she heard footsteps. Slowly she turned her head to face InuYasha as he entered the room.

"You're awake." InuYasha walked over to her side and kneeled down next to her. "Kagome… I'm… so sorry…"

"InuYasha what are you talking about?"

"Your injuries, they never would have happened, if I…"

"InuYasha, you have nothing to be sorry about." Kagome sat up with a wince and a groan of pain and looked him in the eyes. "InuYasha, you have nothing to be sorry for, it was an accident."

InuYasha looked down and away from her and fidgeted with the edge of his kimono before looking back at her and forcefully saying. "Damnit Kagome! I'm trying to apologize here, can't you just get mad or something at me! I'm not used to this whole nice thing!"

Kagome stared at him with wide eyes, at first he thought she was really going to yell at him but then her shoulders started to shake, when he thought he'd made her cry and reached out to her, she started to giggle which soon turned into a full out laugh.

InuYasha just stared at her as she laughed at him; she suddenly stopped laughing when she bent over in pain.

"Kagome!"

"I'm fine." Kagome looked up with watery eyes from laughing to hard as she attempted to lie back down. "InuYasha, how long have I been out?"

InuYasha looked down at her cautiously before saying slowly. "Two days."

"What!" Kagome regrettable sat up quickly and held her head as she got dizzy and winced in pain.

"Kagome, Keade and I have been applying the medicine to your back everyday and you should be able to move around more in a few days."

"A few days? But I…" Kagome lay back down and sighed. "Alright."

InuYasha looked down at her and smiled. "You'll be up and running in no time."

"Kagura!"

"What is it now?"

"Have you `disposed' of the child?"

"Yes, it will be gone soon enough, it will not live longer then two months, the boar demon I sent did its job well."

"Good, as soon as it's gone, she'll be mine."

Two months and Kagome was showing more then she expected, and as happy as she was, she was miserable. `Stupid InuYasha, won't let me go outside.' Kagome sat next to the fire and stared out the window across the room.

`No Kagome, you can't go outside. No Kagome, you can't bathe in the hot springs. No Kagome you can't be alone!' Kagome let out a low growl.

She had been confined to Keade's hut ever since it first snowed, the snow had come early this year and she was starting to get `cabin fever'.

InuYasha, Miroku, and Sango had left hours ago to go shard hunting; there was a rumor that a small youkai army possessed shards of the jewel to the east, so with a lot of pushing and bribing they had convinced InuYasha to go along, Sango finally suggested leaving Kirara behind, and with that settled they left.

Kagome grinned wickedly. `He thinks he can keep me locked up! Well, he's got another thing coming!' still grinning she stood up and crept passed Kirara who was told to keep her "safe" which meant keeping her locked up.

Kirara looked up at her and mewed, she knew what Kagome was doing but just stretched and followed her to the door.

"Kirara, I know I'm not, "supposed" to go outside but I can't stand being inside anymore!" Kagome sighed and looked down at the small fire cat.

Kirara just mewed and nuzzled Kagome's leg before dashing out the door and diving into a snow pile and looked back at Kagome as if laughing and promising to keep her secret.

Kagome walked outside and took a deep breath of the crisp winter air. She lightly pushed it back out of her lungs and watched her breath escape her mouth into the mid-afternoon air around her. `Oh how I've missed this.' She thought excitedly as she turned back to Keade's hut a dashed inside.

"Shippo…" she cooed gently as she lightly shook the kit to awaken him. "Shippo honey wake up…"
Shippo awoke slowly, his eyelids seemed so heavy to him in his slight daze. "Mama? What's going on?" he asked while rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Get you coat sweetie were gonna go outside and play in the snow." Kagome smiled down at the little fox that was now suddenly very awake at hearing that his Onee-san was going to play with him.

Shippo didn't like that Kagome had to be cooped up in the house all day long either, mainly because that meant he couldn't play with her as often and she couldn't bring him those yummy treats from her time.

"Come on Onee-san!" Shippo called over his shoulder as he dove into the pile of snow that Kirara occupied.

Kagome laughed as she watched Kirara chase Shippo through the snow. Carefully she bent down and made a snowball then standing back up she called for Shippo.

"Shippo! Come on, lets make a snowman for InuYasha!" with that she began rolling the little ball of snow around as Shippo raced towards her closely followed by Kirara.

"There! We're finished." Kagome smiled down at Shippo as he looked up at the lopsided snowman with pride.

"Shippo sweetie I'm going to go home for awhile ok, but I'll be back in a few hours, I need to take a shower." Kagome looked down and Shippo whom looked about ready to retaliate before she continued quickly. "And I'll bring you back some more poky ok."

Kagome smiled happily as she saw the young kits face light up and grin, she had won yet another battle. ` Stupid InuYasha thinks he can keep me locked up. HA!!' she lightly pat Shippo on the head and added. "Go back inside now ok, I…." She never finished her thought; Kirara transformed and began growling at the sky and tree line.

Kagome stood quickly and turned around as she felt another youkai approach. What met her eyes was Kagura as she landed placidly on the ground.

"Why are you here Kagura? What do you want with us now?" She said as she backed away from the wind demon.

"I have come with a message from Naraku." Kagome could hear the hate behind her words when she spoke his name. "And to see how you are coming along. Quite as I expected I see."

"What is this message and what the hell do you care about how my well being is?" Kagome seethed at Kagura as she pulled Shippo closer to her and Kirara took a defensive stance in front of her.

"I don't care." She said off handedly. "But Naraku wishes for me to tell you that he looks foreword to seeing you and that you should try to sleep more." Kagura's smirk traveled from Kagome's face to over Kagome's shoulder as she backed away laughing.

Kagura reached up and pulled a feather from her hair with perfected grace, and disappeared into the sky. No sooner had she disappeared Kagome heard an all to familiar voice that sent chills up her spine.

"I do believe you should tell InuYasha about this." Came Sesshomaru's all to familiar voice.

Kagome turned slowly and backed away from Sesshomaru, who was standing nearly right behind her. "Sesshomaru." She barely breathed out his name.

Sesshomaru almost smirked. "Where is my dimwitted little brother?"

"He's not here right now, why?" she shifted slightly and pulled her heavy cloak tighter around her as a strong cold breeze passed by.

"I must speak with him but it is not important at the moment." He noticed how Kagome was shivering in the cold winter air and watched as a small breeze tossed her pomegranate hair lightly but also noticed something slightly unsettling about her scent. "You shouldn't be out here in your condition."

Kagome just stared at him at loss for words as she shivered again. Sesshomaru rolled his eyes and beckoned for someone behind him, Rin came bounding out towards them from the woods, closely followed by Jaken.

Kagome gasped as she watched Rin run out of the woods, she wore a tattered old kimono that was full of holes and her shoes were holey as well. Rin looked to be about ten or eleven she had grown a little taller then Kagome remembered and her raven black hair was longer then ever. Rin ran up next to Sesshomaru and bowed to Kagome.

"Sesshomaru!" Kagome ran over to Rin and bent down to take her hands. "And you tell me I could get sick! She's freezing!"

"The villages wouldn't sell me any clothes or shoes and would run me out of town, Lord Sesshomaru would always leave and come back hours later after his visit to the villages, he said they wouldn't sell to him ether and Jaken said he just killed all the villagers but I don't believe him." Sesshomaru gave Jaken an unsettling look that said Jaken would pay for his impertinence.

Kagome cleared her throat to regain Sesshomaru's attention, once regained she said. "I will help you Sesshomaru but you must first help me."

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow at this and debated on how to answer her but finally said. "What is it you want?"

"I want you and InuYasha to stop fighting…. You both have exceptional swords and besides, you're brothers, and the only family either of you have, you're going to be an uncle soon and… it would be nice for the baby to have other demon relatives… I mean… I have no demon relatives from before and you, InuYasha, and Shippo are the closest demon family that I have."

Sesshomaru stood silent in thought for a while as he thought about what she said, but before he could speak he felt a tiny tug on his kimono.

"Lord Sesshomaru, I agree with her, I think you should give them a chance, besides, She's right you get to be a uncle! And I'll get a friend to play with besides smelly old Jaken." Rin said in an anxious whisper.

Sesshomaru sighed dejectedly and agreed in accordance that InuYasha would as well agree to the new arrangements.

Kagome squealed in excitement as well did Rin, Kagome ran up and threw her arms around Sesshomaru surprising not only herself but him too.

"Shippo, take them to Keade's hut, I'll be back as soon as I can I'm going to go get Rin some clothes, but first wait here I need to get her measurements." that said Kagome jumped down the well and back to her time.

About five minuets later Kagome re-emerged from the well with a long yellow measuring tape from her mothers sewing kit. "Come here Rin." She said and began taking Rin's measurements for her clothes.

"Perfect! Now go to Keade's hut I'll be back in about two hours." That said Kagome disappeared again back into the well.

Kagome walked up to her room and changed her clothes, trying desperately to hide her new demonic features.

Finally finding a long sky blue skirt that was loose enough to let her tail dangle freely and long enough to not have to worry about anyone seeing it. To match it she grabbed a black princess shirt that helped conceal her pregnant abdomen all though it was still obvious that she was.

Kagome sighed to herself as she looked in the mirror. `Now what to do about you?' she thought as she stared at her ears. Finally deciding that she would just hide them in her hair she fancied a messy bun, careful to leave some down to hide the fact that her human ears weren't there ether.

"Perfect!" she smiled at her reflection and walked to her dresser and pulled out a tiny bottle of her favorite perfume and dabbed a few drops on her neck and wrists.

Kagome made her way down stairs and said good-bye to her mother. "Kagome dear, will you please pick Sota up from his friends house?"

"Sure mom, I'll be back in less then an hour if the traffic isn't bad." That said Kagome left to pick up Sota and head for the mall.

Kagome walked up to a large wooden door and knocked three times, when a tall, bald, muscular man with a black goatee answered the door.

"Is… umm… Sota here?" Kagome asked cautiously as she took in the man's full appearance.

"Yea Sota's here, he's out back with Taru." The tall man stepped aside to let Kagome in the house. The house was large and spacious; it was decorated with a mixture of ancient Japanese and American décor.

"Kagome!" Sota came running through the house and slid across the floor to stop in front of her and gave her the best hug he could, considering her condition.

"When did you get back? When is my new niece or nephew going to arrive!"? Sota attacked her with questions.

"Sota slow down!" she laughed. "Tell your friend goodbye we have to go."

Sota nodded and ran back through the house calling for Taru. Kagome turned to Taru's father and thanked him. "Thank you for having Sota over."

"No problem he comes over all the time, he and Taru are great friends." Kagome just smiled and helped Sota with his things.

"Mom! We're home!" Sota called from the door as he took off his shoes and raced up to his room to play the new game Kagome had bought for him.

Kagome walked into the house and smiled as she sat down in the kitchen next to her mother. "Kagome are you ok? You look a little pale."

"I'm fine, just a little tired, I think I'm going to go home now. Tell grandpa and Sota I said goodbye." With that she stood up and kissed her mother as she walked to the door.

Kagome slid open the door and entered the tiny building and sighed as she slid the door shut behind her. She walked the lip of the well and sat down and stared at the ladder her grandfather had made her.

Kagome winced as another wave of pain hit her swollen belly. `Why is this happening? Maybe InuYasha was right? Oh gods this hurts!' Kagome swung her legs over and slid into the dark well.

Kagome emerged from well and slowly began her way back to Keade's but when she was only a few steps from the well she fell to her knees in pain and cried out.

Kagura smirked as she watched Kagome cry out in pain. She jumped down from her perch in a near by tree and walked slowly towards Kagome.

"My. My. My. Whatever do we have here?"

Kagome seethed with anger as Kagura approached. "What do you want now!" she yelled.

Kagura bent down and held out her hand. "This little vile contains a liquid that will take away the pain. Drink it."

Kagome stared at her in astonishment and then anger. " You think I'm a fool! I'd never except help from you!"

"Fine. Have it your way. You could have just drank it and fell unconscious like you where supposed to but I guess you'll just have to endure the pain as Naraku's mid-wife rips the child from your body."

Kagome nearly choked. "What! No! You'll not have me or my baby!" she screamed as she attempted to get up and run but even the slightest movement caused her enough pain to kill a cow. She began to cry she should have listened to InuYasha and stayed home, inside, where it was safe.

"Oh, don't cry, drink this and you won't remember a thing." Kagura held out the vile again but Kagome only knocked it from her hand.

"Well I see we'll have to do things the hard way then." Kagura hated this whole plan but had no choice other then to play it out. She retrieved the vile and brutally hit Kagome across the face so that she'd fall back.

Kagura walked over and pinned Kagome to the ground. "Drink it!"

"No!"

"Don't make me do this! Just drink it and you'll feel no pain!"

"No!" Kagome was sobbing from the pain but refused to drink whatever was in the vile.

Kagura shook her head and merely reached down and pushed on Kagome's stomach with just enough pressure to make her cry out long enough to pour the acid green liquid down her throat.

Kagome choked on the liquid as the serum burned her throat and made it hard to breath, her whole body felt like it was weightless she couldn't feel anything or even move, the world was getting very dark "InuYasha." Was the last thing to slip from her lips in a desperate whisper for help from her beloved.
