Chapter Two
Reasons and Farewell
“Why are you so upset, I am here now, my reincarnation is dead, get up off the floor and embrace me” she said harshly but none the less leaned down to drag him away from her clay form.
“Get away from me you bitch, how could you? bring her back right now” he demanded as he pushed her away, tears now flowing freely down his handsome face.
“Come now Inuyasha she did this for you, she knew she was but a poor imitation of me and could never compete with me, she has given you what you want, she has allowed me to live once more” she answered him in her cold tone.
“But I don't love you, yeah once I thought I loved you and that you loved me, but you never loved me, did you, because you hated half of me I wasn't good enough the way I was, you wanted me to become a human. I love Kagome, she might look like you but trust me that's where your similarities end, she's nothing like you because she accepts me the way I am, she's never tried to change me, she believes in me even when I don't believe in myself, she's stayed by my side all this time. Don't you see you're the one that cant compete with Kagome” He roared at her his tears still falling.
“This is all your fault she did this to make you happy because she thought you loved me. Her death is no ones fault but your own if you had treated her better and didn't always come running after me then she would still be here” she added coldly.
“Shut up” he yelled.
“Temper Inuyasha don't go blaming me, she did this of her own free will she could have fought back but she didn't she lost her will power because of you, she didn't want to live anymore” she added spitefully.
Inuyasha was now ignoring Kikyo and began pleading with Kagome.
“Kagome you said you'd stay with me, please don't leave me I'm sorry ok, just don't leave me I wont ever chase after this witch again, just come back Kagome please I love you” he pleaded to the almost lifeless corpse.
“Your wasting your time her soul is barely hanging on she wont make it” she remarked.
“Shut up you foul witch you don't know anything” he retorted.
“Kagome hang on just a little bit longer, please don't leave me” he pleaded through his tears.
Kikyo edged towards Inuyasha attempting to seduce him away from Kagome but as she got too close she was thrown over his shoulder along with Kagome and before she knew it they were leaping through trees. Kikyo struggled against Inuyasha's strong grip but failed to even loosen his hold on her, without her bow and arrows there was nothing she could do.
“Quit squirming about, your wasting your time I'm never going to let you go” he spat nastily.
“What do you intend to do with me and this empty shell” she questioned angrily.
Inuyasha ignored her question and continued to fly through the trees as fast as his body would allow, he had to reach the village before he lost Kagome forever.
In what seemed to take a millennium he had finally arrived he had made it to Kaede's hut. Inuyasha kicked the door down and entered her hut calling out to her.
“Hey Kaede get up quick I need your help” he yelled into the darkness.
“What is it Inuyasha” came the voice of a half asleep Kaede.
“It's Kagome she's dying and it's all my fault please you have to help me” he pleaded desperately.
“Ok Inuyasha ye should calm down” the old woman answered as she lit her fire.
“Oh my why do ye have both Kagome and Kikyo over your shoulders” she asked.
“Kikyo convinced Kagome to trade body's but Kagome destroyed the soul collectors and she's dying please you have to switch there souls back or Kagome will die” he explained frantically.
“Ok Inuyasha ye need to calm down now place them both on the floor” Kaede told him.
“Kaede don't you dare help him if you do, you shall be betraying your own sister your own flesh and blood” Kikyo screamed ant her younger sister.
“Forgive me Kikyo but I must return ye souls to the correct body's this is unnatural and wrong, ye may be my sister but I cannot allow Kagome to die” she replied in a harsh and very determined tone.
“Not only does this pathetic girl mean more than me to Inuyasha but she means more to you as well, how could you betray your sister like this” she questioned angrily.
“My sister Kikyo died fifty years ago” was her only answer.
“Err Kaede I cant lie Kikyo on the floor she'll try to escape” he roared impatiently at the poor old woman.
“Can ye lay Kagome on the floor then and hold onto Kikyo” she asked.
Inuyasha did as he was asked and lay Kagome on the floor.
Kaede placed her hands together and began to chant the strange words that Kikyo herself had chanted before, ignoring the screaming Kikyo struggling to free herself from Inuyasha strong hold. Kaede's stopped chanting the incantation because it was having no effect what so ever. Kagome's soul just would not return to her own body
“Kaede what's wrong why haven't they switched back yet” Inuyasha asked after ten heart wrenching minutes of watching her speak the words to her incantation, his voice trembling unable to hide his fear.
“I am sorry Inuyasha but it seems Kagome doesn't wish to return to her body, she is resisting my powers” she answered sadly.
“Kagomeeeeeeee!!! Please I'm sorry please just come back to me, don't leave me, I'm nothing without you, I have nothing without you. Without you I would still be alone I wouldn't have Shippo or Miroku and Sango I'd be all by myself, please Kagome forgive me and come back, please ill do anything” he howled in desperation as he fell to his knees still holding onto a struggling Kikyo.
“Inu…yasha” Kagome mumbled softly.
“Kagome your alive” he sighed.
“Can you love me Inuyasha” she asked struggling to speak.
“Yes Kagome I love you more than anything just don't, don't leave me” he pleaded.
“I mean can you love me as me” she questioned.
“Yes Kagome I can I've always loved you as you” he answered so sincerely.
With his last words her eyes closed and Kikyo's body began to glow with bright blue light.
“Kagome please don't leave me” he sobbed his body now shaking uncontrollably.
Kagome's beautiful soul was leaving Kikyo's clay form, she was now fighting Kikyo for possession of her body. Whilst Kikyo's red soul began to emerge surfacing from deep within Kagome's body the two souls battled against each other. Kagome's blue light fought Kikyo's red, both were refusing to give in sparks of light were illuminating Kaede's hut for several minutes until eventually the light engulfed Kagome's body entirely, but Inuyasha still held her now limp form, shielding his eyes against the bright light surrounding him.
Finally after a desperate battle between souls the light had dispersed leaving Inuyasha holding the real Kagome in his arms.
“Kagome” he whispered as he held her body close to his chest.
“Inuyasha” she replied softly her eyes now open to reveal their chocolaty warmth.
“Kagome I cant believe it your alive. Oh Kagome, I was so worried, please don't ever do that to me again” he replied relieved.
“Inuyasha” she mumbled.
“Yeah what is it Kagome” he asked.
“Hold me, hold me tight and don't let go, please just stay with me” she pleaded sadly.
“I'll never let you go Kagome believe me I've learnt my lesson I thought I'd lost you forever” he replied with guilt in his heart.
“Inuyasha…….. 221; she muttered.
“What is it Kagome” he asked.
“Inuyasha I ……I ……I love you………” were her last words before her eyes closed and she fell into a deep sleep.
“Kagome open your eyes, please Kagome, not now, don't leave me” he roared.
“Relax Inuyasha Lady Kagome is just sleeping she is exhausted, she will wake when she has regained her strength don't panic shell be good as new as soon as she rests” Kaede reassured the panicking Hanyou.
Inuyasha turned to see Kikyo's dying form lying helplessly on the floor.
“Inu…Yasha will you allow me to die like this” she asked him with the same coldness in her voice.
