Just to remind you (Thanks to Catty; Catherine!) Vampires who are half human CAN be in the daylight without being burnt or dust, but they can still be harmed. Crosses, stakes, garlic, and holy water can harm them. It's the full-fledged vamps that CAN'T be in the daylight.

Chapter 21

The death of Kouga and the birth of the pup

*After Dinner*

After dinner, Kagome's grandfather still flew those ridiculous flaps of paper on Inuyasha, making him annoyed. He really wanted to strangle Jii (Kagome's grandfather), but Kagome stopped him by saying he wouldn't be able to sleep in her bed with her. THAT got his attention! As soon as she said this, he stopped what he was doing and swooped Kagome in his arms. He then proceeded to "their" room.

*Kagome's Room*

Inuyasha quickly opened the door and shut it. He then flung (gently that is!) Kagome onto the bed. He quickly locked the door. Kagome had no time to say anything 'cause as she was about to, her mouth was covered with Inuyasha's. He was being very careful about their pup. He left Kagome's mouth and proceeded onto her neck. He heard her moan as he came in contact with his mark. He licked and sucked on it. Kagome was in heaven.

She moaned and gently arched her back as Inuyasha gave her pleasure. As soon as it began, it stopped. She opened her eyes to look at a smirking Inuyasha looking at her. "Why'd you stop?" She pouted. Her bottom lip puffed out. Inuyasha chuckled and sucked on her lip. "That was for what you said about me not being able to sleep here with you." He then gently climbed off of her and got behind her. Kagome flipped on her side with her back pressed against Inuyasha's chest. Inuyasha turned off the lamp that was on and gently wrapped his arms around her.

Kagome snuggled closer to Inuyasha and drifted off to sleep.

*2:00am*

As soon as Inuyasha knew Kagome was asleep, he gently unwound his arms and got off the bed. He put on his duster and climbed the windowsill. He took one last look at his mate and flew into the night. He didn't notice a pair of blue eyes watching him.

*5:00am*

Kagome was tossing and turning in her sleep. Sweat flowed down her forehead and her eyes were tightly shut. She reached out for Inuyasha, but didn't feel him. Her eyes shot open and she sat straight up. She curled herself into a ball. Fear radiated off her. "Inuyasha." She whispered. She then heard a rustle. Her head shot up and she looked around. "Inuyasha?" she called. There was no reply. She heard it again. "Inuyasha?" she called louder.

"No, it's not Inuyasha." Came a voice. Kagome stiffed. She knew that voice! "Where are you!?" She then felt a clawed hand on the back of her head. She moved away from the hand and turned to see….

"KOUGA!?" She called. He chuckled evilly. "Hello to you too, Kagome." She narrowed her eyes. "What do you want!? How'd you know where I lived!?" He chuckled. He moved towards Kagome and she moved away. "I can follow your scent anywhere, my love." "Don't call me that! I'm not your love!" Kouga then slapped Kagome. She fell onto the floor, but made sure she landed on something very soft.

She got to her feet and tried to open the door, but it was locked! She heard Kouga coming towards her. "What's the matter, Kagome? Can't get out?" He said evilly. Kagome backed into a corner. She slid onto the floor. "Leave me alone." She whispered, starting to cry. How she wished Inuyasha were here.

*Inuyasha*

He was done feeding off of people when he felt Kagome fear threw their connection. He could tell she was frightened. He then killed the bodies he had drank and fled off to his mate. On his way, he felt the fear Kagome had intensify. His cheek stung and knew that someone was with her. He picked up speed. "Hang on, Kagome. I'm coming!" He thought.

*Shrine*

As he neared the house, he smelt wolf. He growled low in his throat. The demon was pissed that the wolf was still after Kagome. Inuyasha fought with all strength to keep the demon from emerging. In the end, the demon calmed down, but was pissed. Inuyasha jumped onto the branch that was nearest to the window. He saw Kagome at the far corner with her knees protecting their pup and she was crying. He then saw Kouga advancing on her. He had a smirk on his face. Inuyasha knew what he was going to do and wasted no time.

*Kagome*

Kagome looked to see Kouga advancing on her. She shrunk back, but felt Inuyasha watching them, so she had calmed a little. She saw Inuyasha slash Kouga in the back and he stumbled away. Inuyasha then gently lifted Kagome in his arms and headed for the window. As soon as they reached the window, Inuyasha jumped to the farthest branch. He made sure it'd support both their weight. When he found out it did, he sat down and brought Kagome into his lap.

Kagome clung to Inuyasha and cried. He gently wrapped his arms around her and whispered soothing words. As he gently stroked her right cheek, he felt her flinch. He moved Kagome away from him and gasped. She had a huge bruise on her cheek. It was swollen and it was a very dark purple color. He growled. Kagome looked away from. "Kagome, look at me." He said gently. She shook her head. "Kagome." He said a little firmer. This time, she looked at him. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha."

He brought her back to him and nuzzled her neck. "It's not your fault, Kagome. It's mine. I should have been here to protect you." Kagome nuzzled him back and sighed happily. Their happy moment was soon destroyed by…

"TAKE YOUR HANDS OF MY WOMAN, DOG-SHIT!"

They both looked to see a bloodied Kouga. He had scratches all over him. Scars were also there from the encounter with Sango and Miroku. His left eye was gone and it had a scar there. Inuyasha growled. "She's not your woman, Kouga! She's mine!" Inuyasha said as he snarled at Kouga.

"Like hell, she isn't! Kagome IS mine!" Kouga growled showing his "sharp pointy teeth". Inuyasha gently unwound his arms from Kagome and gently set her down. Kagome didn't let go. Inuyasha looked down at her.

He smiled gently at her as soon as she looked up at him. "Please, Kagome. You need to let go." She shook her head. "If you don't, Kouga will be after you. I have to show him you're mine." She laid her head on his chest and hugged him. He responded back. Kouga watched this with disgust. "Once I've killed that shit, Kagome will be MINE!" He thought.

Inuyasha gently removed Kagome away from him and kissed her passionately. She kissed back. "Are you done, dog-shit!?" They heard Kouga yell. They quickly broke away from the kiss and turned an icy glare with their eyes at Kouga. If looks could kill Kouga would have been dead by now. Inuyasha growled. He turned to Kagome, kissed her quickly, and leapt towards Kouga.

*Inuyasha and Kouga*

Inuyasha and Kouga circled each other, neither taking their eyes off each other. "Once I've killed you, dog-shit, Kagome's mine!" Kouga sneered. "Over my dead body!" Inuyasha yelled. "As you wish." The next motion set a spark and a glaring contest and the fight began.

Kouga charged at Inuyasha and tried to land a punch on his left shoulder. Inuyasha dodged by jumping and doing a round house kicks that hit Kouga were the sun doesn't shine. That didn't faze Kouga he just got right back up and back into fighting stance. Inuyasha smirked at this and ran towards his target, which happened to be Kouga.

*2 hours later*

Now, Inuyasha was bloody. He had numerous cuts on his arms, legs, and chest. Kouga had more injuries since he was the one who mostly launched himself at Inuyasha. He was breathing very hard, Inuyasha, on the other hand, was breathing a little hard, but not much. "Are you ready to give up, Kouga?" Inuyasha sneered. "Not in this life-time!" Kouga yelled and charged at Inuyasha. As he charged, Inuyasha jumped high and flipped over Kouga.

As Inuyasha flipped over Kouga, his claws extended and he slashed Kouga in the legs. He landed with grace. Kouga tried to stop, but couldn't. He lost his balance and fell to his death. Inuyasha watched as Kouga fell down the steps of the shrine. He then heard Kagome yelp and he turned to see her crying. He quickly jumped onto the branch and hugged her.

*5 months later*

It had been five months since the death of Kouga. Kagome hadn't been patrolling because of Inuyasha. He was persistent that she stays at home. He had told her after he brought her back into the shrine that she would give birth in five months. Since that time, Inuyasha and Shippo have had a constant eye on her, making sure she was near them. Shippo had become very protective of his mother. Inuyasha was very grateful for the pup. He knew Shippo loved Kagome dearly.

Ever since the fire, the bruises and scratches have vanished. Sakura had been getting the nursery ready for the baby or babies. She decorated the room next to Kagome's room in the shrine and the one in the mansion. She bought clothes, toys, diapers, a bed, and everything that the new parents would need. She told them that if they needed help, she's been glad to.

Sango and Miroku had taken over Kagome's patrol. Inuyasha went with sometimes, but he mostly stayed with Kagome. It was nighttime and Kagome was sitting with her mother at the shrine. Shippo was playing with Souta and Jii was bugging Inuyasha. Just then….

"OW!!" Kagome yelped in pain. She laid her hand on her stomach. "Honey, what's wrong?" Sakura asked as she went to her daughter's side. Inuyasha and Shippo were on her other side. "Kagome/Mommy, are you all right?" both Inuyasha and Shippo said. "I think my water broke."

Sakura then grabbed hers and Kagome's jackets. "We need to get her to the hospital NOW!" Inuyasha was a little confused. Sakura saw this and explained it. "When a woman's water brakes, she's about to give birth." Inuyasha went wide-eyed and he instantly scooped Kagome in his arms. They raced to the car and got in. Shippo was with them. Jii drove in the other car with Souta.

*Hospital*

As they entered the hospital, Sakura called. "We need a doctor!" Just as she finished, a doctor came. "I'm a doctor." "My daughter's gone into labor." Sakura said. "Alright. Let's get her to the delivery room. As the doctor was about to take Kagome, Inuyasha growled and brought Kagome closer to him. "Inuyasha, please. You need to let her go." Sakura said.

"He can't touch her!" he growled. His eyes were red. Ever since Kagome began labor, the demon was fighting to take over. When he the doctor trying to take Kagome away from him, he couldn't hold the demon any longer. He came forth. His instinct was to protect his mate from any danger. Shippo also felt that way, but knew the doctors would help. He climbed onto Inuyasha's shoulder.

"Daddy, please." He pleaded. Inuyasha turned to his son and looked into his eyes. He saw that Shippo trusted the doctor and he knew that Shippo wouldn't lie to him. He sighed and nodded. "If you want, you can come with her to the delivery room, sir." Inuyasha's eyes went back to amber and he nodded. They then left. Sakura help Shippo in her arms.

*2 hours later*

It had been 2 hours since Kagome went into labor. They heard screaming and grunts coming from the room. At the end, it went silent. They heard the door open and Inuyasha came out in the blue outfit with a big smile on his face. Sakura and Shippo went to him. "How was the delivery?" "It went smoothly. We have a healthy baby girl…" "Yay!" Shippo cheered. "…. And a boy." Inuyasha finished. (Never saw that did ya!?) Sakura squealed and Shippo bounced into his father's arms. "I have a baby sister and brother!" Inuyasha nodded.

Shippo hugged Inuyasha and he hugged back. "Would you like to see them?" He asked Sakura. She smiled and nodded. Shippo looked at Inuyasha with puppy eyes. "And you too." Shippo smiled and climbed onto his father's head. They then proceeded into the room.

(I love writing this part. If any of you have seen the second Lion King movie, as I wrote this, I thought of the scene where Nala and Simba nuzzled Kiara at the beginning. I LOVE that scene! Oh, if you want a pic of what the pups look like, email me!)

*Kagome's Room*

Kagome was sleeping peacefully in the bed with one baby in each of her arms. Inuyasha slowly opened the door and they walked in. Kagome heard the door open and turned to see her mate, pup, and mother. She smiled weakly. "Hey, you." She whispered to Shippo, who gently got onto the bed. He looked at his brother and sister. The girl had long silver hair with black tints in them. Her ears were black with silver tips. She had her father's skin tone. The boy had black hair with silver in it and his ears were silver with black tints.

Inuyasha came and took his daughter out of Kagome's arm. The girl yawned and opened her amber eyes. Her amber eyes were beautiful with the slight tint of gray in them. She looked at her father and cooed at him. Inuyasha smiled and gently nuzzled his daughter. He then purred and heard her purr in return. The boy awoke to see his father and mother. His eyes were gray with amber tints in them.

Shippo looked at his brother and gently stroked his face. The boy purred. "He's gorgeous." Sakura said. Kagome looked at her mother. "Would you like to hold him?" Sakura nodded and took the boy from his mother. He moved a little and got comfortable. "He's so kawaii!" Sakura whispered. Inuyasha got up and sat on the bed next to his mate. Sakura sat where Inuyasha recently sat. She looked at her granddaughter. "She's beautiful." Shippo said.

"Just like her mother." Inuyasha replied, looking at Kagome. "You flirt." Kagome teased. "I know and you love it." Inuyasha purred as he kissed Kagome. He was very careful with his daughter. They broke away. "What shall we name them?" Kagome asked. "I was thinking of Exotica for the girl and Mistof for the boy." Shippo suggested. Everyone looked at him. "Where'd you come up with those names?" Inuyasha asked. "I was watching CATS and those names just seem to fit them." (I love CATS!!!) "Then it's settled. Exotica and Mistof." Kagome said.
