Chapter VII: Secrets Are Meant To Be Kept

Kagome had hummed happily as she looked through her log for the week. All of her patients were great and easy to get along with. Except a certain silver haired hanyou.
"He makes me so mad somtimes." Kagome said. She looked over her notes from his sessions.

Seems to be touchy about his brother and his family
Guards himself from other people.
A lady he will never fully speak upon
Hostile towards me.

Kagome sighed because it was something about InuYasha that reached out to her. She knew he needed help and she didn't know how to give it to him. Then she shortly grazed over Sango's notes.

Becoming to cope with her brother's lost
Still blames her mother for her alcohol addiction
Says that she doesn't have a life anymore and that she's alone in the world

Sango was a good case for Kagome. She was cooperative and tried to better herself. "Unlike InuYasha." Kagome cursed herself for thinking of him again. She then hopped over to her best case yet, Kouga Ookami's.

Admits that he only did speed to get away from his wife
Says she nags too much
Admits that he went too far with it and wants to work it out with his wife

Kagome smiled. It was cases like these that made her job great. Being able to help people. All they needed was some marriage counseling and his addiction should only be a thing of the past. Kagome scanned through her other patients. Fifteen in total and all were exceptional except for the hanyou. Kagome shook her head and focused herself. "Fifteen." Kagome whispered to herself. It seemed weird because she could distinctly remember it being sixteen patients that she was assigned to. She looked over her appointments and realized that one of her patients haven't been to session.

"That's weird." Kagome said. The she went through the files recognizing all of the faces except one......

Rin worked in the lab retrieving the barbiturates for the narcotic patients when she felt a hand snake around her waist. "Aaah!" Rin screamed as she jumped, dropping half the bottle of pills onto the table. She turned around and was face to face with InuYasha. She hit him on the arm. "What's your problem? You scared the hell out of me." Rin said trying to catch her breathing.

"Sorry, I just wanted to suprise you." InuYasha said letting her go.

"Well, don't. I have very bad heart problems." Rin said scooping up the pills off of the table.

"Whatcha' doing." InuYasha said helping her.

"Collecting medication rounds for the week." Rin said putting the pills back into the cotton filled bottle.

"What's on the menu?" InuYasha said licking his lips.

Rin shook her head at his antics. "It's Pheno," InuYasha opened his mouth and Rin hurried in her next sentence before he could get a word in "and before you say anything it's for the best."

"Rin! You know I can't stand sedatives. I hate 'em." InuYasha said.

"I'm sorry, Yash, but know when I say it's for the best." Rin said carressing his jaw.

"Alright, whatever. Well, since we in here, where do you guys keep the methodone?"

"That's a joke right?" Rin said.

InuYasha wrapped an arm around her. "Of course it is."

"You better. I don't want you on that stuff."

"Seriously, where is it?" InuYasha said with a smile across his face.

Rin shook her head and hit him in the head. "You're such a doltz sometimes, Yash."

"What's with you and the hitting?" InuYasha said rubbing his head. He was a completely different person around Rin. He felt relaxed and content with himself. If only he knew Rin before he met her.

"You know it's a new doctor coming." Rin said throwing Inuyasha out of thought.

InuYasha rolled his eyes. "So, I've heard." He picked up a bottle of pills and studied it. "I mean it's not like we need another prick in this clinic anyway. I know he's a dick because all the doctors Sess has hired, on the exception of you, are stuck up and rigid.

"Thanks and for your info, Sesshomaru didn't hire him. Your father did."

InuYasha groaned. "That's even worse. I know he hired the guy to keep an eye on me."

"I'm sure that's not the case." Rin said, but she knew it mostly was. She just wanted to cheer him up.

"What's his position?"

"He's a narcotherapist?" Rin said weakly.

"And how does that not apply to me?"

"Alright, alright. Maybe the doctor was sent for you, but he might not be the ass you set him out to be."

"Oh, trust me he is."

Kagome walked through the halls rushing to the lab to speak with Rin. The missing patient was very urgent to her. She stopped at the glass doors and noticed InuYasha was in there laghing and talking with Rin. Kagome never noticed this side of InuYasha. He seemed comfortable and happily content. All she could wonder was, Why doesn't he feel that way with me. Kagome shook it off and noted herself to remember this for further sessions.

"I hope he's not ugly." Rin said laughing.

"And I hope he is because I don't want some 30 year old swooping you away from me."

"You're silly, Yash." Rin said playfully shoving him.

He gently grabbed the hand he was shoved with and held it. "I ain't playing, Rin."

Rin ceased her laughing and looked into his pools of gold and lost herself in them They inched closer to each other until....

"Dr. Miratsu, I have urgent news!" Kagome said quickly walking in.

Rin jumped and InuYasha inwardly cringed at the intrusion. "Have you ever heard of knocking, wench."

"I would prefered it if you would refrain from calling me that." Kagome snapped.

Rin hit InuYasha on the arm. "What have I told you?" She scorned him.

InuYasha sighed. "I'll be in my room." He said as he glared the psychiatrist on the way out and she glared him right back.

"Sorry about that. He gets a little touchy." Rin said.

"A little?"

"So, how have the sessions been going? Is he cooperating?"

"More or less." Kagome said sarcastically. "But to the real reason I came is because I have a patient that hasn't been to any of my sessions."

"And you allowed this for a week? You should've reported this days ago."

"Gomen, but I didn't realize it with all of the patients and everything. I guess I kind of got mixed up."

"Well, you know who you have to talk to, right?"

Kagome cringed. She knew she had to talk to Sesshomaru and she didn't know if he would be as cool about this as he was before. "The boss."

"And I don't think he's going to like this."

Miroku sat in his small room as he looked up to the ceiling. Coming here and meeting Sango was the best thing of his life. He was glad that he was out of the real world. The same world that treated him like shit. Miroku came here to get help and he didn't want any trouble. It truly wasn't his fault the way his addiction was. He couldn't help it and he couldn't stop it. No matter how much he wanted to. The words of his parents haunted him.

"You sick bastard. How could you?" A woman with raven curls that hung to the nape of her neck yelled.

"Mom, I...I...."

"Don't talk. You have disgraced this family and we want nothing to do with you!" The burly man raged.

"But I'm your son. I need help!" Miroku screamed.

"I have no son!" The man said sternly and cold.

Miroku shook himself from his nightmare. Ever since that day he stopped, but the haunting of his parents words hurt him. It hurt him to the point that he had to get help from someone. "I'll show you guys that I have changed." Miroku said.

"What?! You lost a patient!" Sesshomaru roared at Kagome. Rin stayed in the back witnessing the enraged youkai.

"I didn't lose him, exactly. It's just he's been skipping sessions."

"You should've come to me earlier! We have a deadline, Dr. Higurashi. Our patients have to be here for three months and you're wasting time!"

Kagome hated to see him this mad even though she knew it was coming. "Sorry, I'll track him down, Sess."

Rin knew she was going to get it now. Calling him Sess was a no no. Hell, he sometimes checked his own father for giving him nicknames.

"That's alright, Kagome. I'm sure you'll get the work done. Now, leave."

Rin was stood there stunned. He just openly allowed her to give him a nickname and one such as that. Why didn't he allow her that privilege? Oooh, InuYasha was right. He IS a prick." Rin was so shocked she didn't notice that Kagome left and Sesshomaru sat there staring at her.

"Dr. Miratsu, is there anything further?" He asked.

Rin squinted her eyes and glared him. "What did she just call you?" She said.

"What? Are you insane?" Sesshomaru asked in disbelief of her statement.

"I'm not insane. What did she call you?"

"Is this relevant?" Sesshomaru said. "I don't know what she callled me."

"She calls you Sess and yet I can't even call you Sesshomaru."

"Is this what this is about? You not being able to call me by my first name. This is ludicrous."

"Since it's so ludicrous as you put it, you wouldn't mind me calling you out your M.D. title."

"You know what? You are such a baby about this. Fine. Call me whatever you want because, frankly, Rin I don't care."

Rin gave him the most devilish grin she could find. "As you wish, Sesshy." She said then walked out of the door.

Sesshomaru stood stunned at the babish name she provided him with. "Oooh, she's so impracticable." He wouldn't admit the nickname made him feel closer to her in a way.
That they weren't so far apart. Sesshomaru quickly shook it off because he had work to do.

Kagome walked towards her office because she had to get that file to find her patient. She walked in and saw a man with short midnight hair slicked back into a ponytail sitting on her chaise. He wore dark sweatpants and dark T-shirt.

"Um..who are you?" Kagome asked. Then it struck her. It was him! The guy that was missing.

"I'm Miroku Houshi. I understand that I've missed a couple sessions."

Rin stomped down the hall with confidence. She absolutely knew the Sesshy thing got to him good. She decided to stop by Kagome's office and help her out because Sesshomaru was right. They had a deadline and she didn't want the clinic geting sued. She needed this job. She walked in and saw a man sitting on the burgundy chaise lounge that was in Kagome's office. "Oh, hello. I didn't realize you had a patient."

"This is the guy that has missed all of his sessions."

"Really? How'd you find him?"

Kagome shrugged her shoulders. "He found me."

"Well," She faced Miroku."you've caused a lot of trouble. What's your name?"

"It's Miroku Houshi, mam." He answered humbly.

Rin almost stopped her breathing from the name. She would never forget the day she read Sesshomaru the roster and saw his name and his addiction and....his problem. "Kagome, I would like to handle Mr. Houshi."

"What? Why?" Kagome asked.

"Because." Rin began."You already have your schedule set up and I know having a new patient will cut into your much needed leisure time."

"You would really do that for me?" Kagome asked excitedly.

"Of course. What are co-workers for?" Rin said smiling. She wanted to counsel him because she knew once Kagome read his file, she wouldn't know how to handle it. Rin knew she was the only person who could talk to him.

"Thank you very much. I'll see you later." Kagome said and left, shutting the door behind her.

Rin turned to face the man. Anger shot through her as she looked at his face. "Mr. Houshi," Rin began as she sat in the chair across from him "I've read your file and it suprises me how you can live with yourself."

"I know. I came here to get help and it's....."

"Stop," Rin demanded "Do you even know how many lives you've destroyed?"

"Yes and I...."

"Shut up." Rin demanded again. She couldn't believe the emotion that was taking her over. "I know people like you and you should be ashamed." Rin blinked away a tear. "I should know. I've lived with one all my life." Rin stopped and took a sharp intake of breath as a single tear fell down her cheek. "It's men like you who make people like me lives a living hell." Rin said in an emotionally cracked voice as she wiped the tears that slipped from her eye.

Miroku could only watch the woman before him and he felt like shit. He knew he was going to be judged and looked down upon.

Rin took a deep breath. "But I am not putting you down and I am not judging you. I know that people like you can't help it sometimes and I am here to help." Rin said placing her hand on his hand."It's going to be alright."

Miroku grasped it and struggled not to cry. It was the first time someone offered him help and told him it was going to be alright and that they were there for him. "Thank you." He whispered.

"Miroku Houshi, you have to admit that you have a problem. That you are a.... pedophile."

A/n: I know! It's a little too much, but I feel that I needed to get that problem across because it's real among our community. That some males have an unusual attatchment towards young children. My friend Brittany went through this problem and me expressing her pain and her problem brings joy to me. She handled everything with her father and even though her mother won't let him live with them, she still loves him and trys to work it out despite what he did.
At first I thought it was wrong to express her problem, but she knows of it and doesn't mind. She even explained some of her feelings with it to me so I could write it better. My first story dealing with this problem was called A Story Of A Girl which is not posted on here. Then I did Secret Window which is posted and she thought it was great and that it was even too real. She said that, "It was too much and people would freak out about it." and I said. "That's why I posted it."

So this is dedicated to you, Britt Britt. ^_^!
