Chapter 9
~* Hold the Lies *~

The softened earth molded to the outside of Kagome's sneakers creating shoeprints. Turning slightly, she noticed Inuyasha's fire robe out of the corner of her eye. Moving along the path, she neared Inuyasha's forest. Pushing aside tree branches that came dangerously close to her eyes, Kagome went deeper into the forest as her gaze spotted Goshinboku. Sitting on the rut of the roots, Kagome situated herself. Inuyasha leaning against the base. Neither of them spoke for a period of time before Inuyasha got restless.

“What did you want to talk to me about wench?”

Kagome flinched as he called her by the infamous name he declared as hers. “I only wanted to ask if you have spoken with Kikyo yet. I ran into her the other day, and may I say that I am getting annoyed with her.” Kagome announced. Surely he knew of her opinion of Kikyo by now. At least didn't he?

“No, I haven't seen her lately.” Inuyasha lied straight to her.

“Okay. I'm having troubles then because I think someone is running around that looks like you. I was out last night coming back from my encounter, and I swear I saw you coming towards to me. Yet, you didn't even see me.”

“Well, I didn't go see her.” Inuyasha getting fed up with the questions that were blown his way.

“Oh, ok then.” Kagome sighed dismally. She clambered up from where she sat, and hung her head mentally. She sighed again. Forgetting the umbrella, she left with the rain hitting her shoulders. Not noticing how cold and wet she became, Kagome once again heaved a sigh as she walked dejectedly towards the village.

Inuyasha let out a shaky breath as he watched the girl who affected his heart so much in so little time. Not bothering with picking up the umbrella, Inuyasha trudged towards to no where in particular, when he heard some kind of song drifted to him.

I know this pain
Why do lock yourself in these chains
No one can change your life except you
Don't ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and mind
Oh, Is it really fair to feel this way inside

“But Sango….” Kagome tried to get in.

Some day somebody is gonna make you turn around and say goodbye
Till then baby are you gonna let him hold you down and make you cry

“Yea I know.” Kagome again tried to interrupt the song.

Don't ya know
Things'll change
Things will go your way
If you hold on for one more day
If you hold on for one more day
Things will go your way
Hold on for more day

You can sustain
You can sustain
Umm are you comfortable with the pain

“No, but…” Again Sango interrupted her thought by singing again.

You got no one to blame for your unhappiness
Ohhh, baby you got yourself into your own mess
Let you worries pass you by
Don't you think right the time
To change your mind

Chorus

I know that there is pain
But you hold on for more day
Break free form the chains
Yeah, I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day
Break free break free from the chains

Chorus X 4

“Thanks for the advice Sango.” Kagome said as she walked away from the girl who was trying to console her friend. Inuyasha, remembering where he was started sprinting in the direction of the hut. Not wanting to face Kagome again that night.

“Miroku, why do Inuyasha and Kagome get into a lot of fights?” Shippo inquired.

“Sometimes I question myself that exact same thing. It might have to deal with Kikyo coming back to life at least that was when I started hearing a lot of fights. Inuyasha always seemed withdrawn from the moment I laid eyes on him. He was also very possessive of Kagome when I took her away for my own gain.” Miroku rambled on, as memories jarred his head.

As he continued to rant, Shippo saw an opening when Miroku wasn't looking at him and dashed to leave the hut. A few minutes later, Miroku still ranting Inuyasha walked in.

“Monk, people are starting to wonder about you, with this talking to yourself.”

“I wasn't talking to myself. Shipp… Okay maybe I was ranting on.” Miroku glanced sideways wanting to see anybody within his peripheral vision. To his dismay, he was left of the subject of his ramblings.

“What were you even talking about monk?” Inuyasha asked the dreaded question that Miroku didn't want to hear.

“Oh, it was nothing important. Do you know where the girls went to, I don't think that the girls would have spent this entire time in the hot springs.” Miroku caught the slight blush across his friend's cheeks.

“Have you seen something that you shouldn't have?” Miroku asked audaciously.

Inuyasha dropped to his knees and shrank into his corner. Drumming his fingers on his knee, Inuyasha began impatiently waiting for the girls to finish the damn song that he heard. Getting his wish granted, the girls appeared in front of the hut smelling like flowers that had just finished getting a spring shower. Though there was a lingering scent of salt. Inuyasha noticed that Kagome had been crying, and mentally he hit himself upside the head.

Climbing to his feet, Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's wrist and pulled her roughly outside. It was about time for him to tell her the truth. And he knew it wasn't going to pretty. He knew he inflicted so many wounds to her. Not any physical wounds, no he knew that there is emotional wounds that he created.

“Inuyasha, quit it I need that arm for my arrows. Are you trying to hurt me?” Kagome bit out rhetorically.

Much to Kagome's delight, Inuyasha dropped her wrist, and looked at it gingerly. He pulled her wrist up to his lips. And to her astonishment, he licked her wound. Looking at him through her eyelashes, she dared to mention the demon that they had fought a week ago.

“Have you or any of the others learned how we can get rid of this singing. I don't like it one bit.” Kagome questioned the air.

“Miroku is going around to various villages to ask if they heard of a strange demon casting weird things.” Inuyasha explained.

“Oh, okay.” Kagome stated simply.

The silence between the two lasted too long for the both of them. Inuyasha let her wrist drop to her side. Not sure, if he wanted to tell her the truth about everything now, Inuyasha cautiously took a few steps back. One look at Kagome told him that she didn't want to talk for him any longer. Pain crossed her face, and she started walking away. Inuyasha rooted to the spot, looked at her retreating form. I really screwed it up this time didn't I? Inuyasha thought to himself as he dragged himself towards the hut wanting a talk to Miroku.

Author's Note: Long time since I updated and I know that I shouldn't have changed the title of my story, and I might change it back because I don't think that I will end it after they cure the singing. (He He.) That is funny. Okay well, again I am sorry for the delayed waiting. I will definitely continue this story. Along with my Life Falters story, one that I haven't updated since I resumed writing this one.
