"Kogome?" Inu Yasha called as he entered their cave? He could smell her frustration and was wondering what was causing his mate to feel so. "Everything alright?" Kagome's frustrated growl answered him.

"Inu Yasha, your son has been playing artist all day!" Kogome cried as she walked out into the main chamber of the cave. Inu Yasha fought the urge to smile. His Kagome was so cute when she was angry.

"Which son? `Cause if it's the Kitsune, then you can't really blame that on me."

"Oh, It's the Kitsune, alright! AND it's Ko Inu*! They have been taking berries and smashing them all over, leaving stains every where. They've ruined TWO of my Kimono's!" This time Inu Yasha did smile. Kagome raised an eyebrow. "Laugh it up, Fuzzball, cuz they got to the Tetsusaiga as well." Inu Yasha's smile disappeared instantly.

Because they were living in a time of peace, what with Naraku dead, by Inu Yasha's own hands, Kikyo's resurrected self laid to rest, and the Shikon No Tama fully restored for the last four years after five years of fighting, Inu Yasha didn't carry his sword with him every where like he used to. He found that most demons were too intimidated to attack the hanyou that killed Naraku. But his Tetsusaiga was still precious to him so the thought of it being smudged by berry juice was horrfying. He took off running towards the deepest chamber where he and Kagome slept and where the Tetsusaiga rested. When he was disappeared, Shippo came around a corner, holding the two year old Ko Inu. He was smirking.

"Do you think Dad will be angry that you tricked him?" Shippo asked quietly. Kagome giggled as she took Ko Inu into her arms. Shippo leapt onto her shoulder.

"No angrier than I was when he made me think that he'd lost you and Ko Inu out in the forst," Kogome replied to her adopted son's question. "Turnabout is fair play. Now we're even."

"THAT ISN'T FUNNY, KAGOME!!!" Inu Yasha yelled. Kagome laughed loudly. He was before her in seconds.

"Gotcha!" she replied through her laughter. Even Shippo began to laugh. Ko Inu looked up at his mother and older brother. He began to laugh as well, though he knew not at what. Inu Yasha looked down at his youngest and smiled. He shook his head.

"You're all against me," he chuckled. "But using the Tetsusaiga was a low blow."

"So was making me think you'd lost our sons," Kagome countered, still laughing. Inu Yasha snaked an arm out, wrapping it around Kagome's waist and pulling her closer. He kissed her passionately.

"EW!" Shippo squeaked, hiding his eyes. Kagome laughed deep in her chest as she drew back, looking up at her love.

"By the way, we're supposed to go see Miroku and Sango tonight. Sango is with their third child and it is Kohaku's, their oldest, fourth birth day." Inu Yasha nodded. He stared down at Kagome.

She had changed so much since she had first come through the well and set him free. For one, she was obviously older, and for another she was now a hanyou(A/N I saw this in another story and thought it was an awesome idea. Just so you know that that wasn't my original idea. Check out Heart Blood and Soul by Kaye. It's pretty good.) with her long ebony hair and black ears. Her fangs made her appear more cute than dangerous and she kept her claws filed down to a fashionable length. Even her eyes had changed. They were still blue but now a more piercing color.

She still used the jewel to travel through the well to see her family, bringing along her mate and her sons. Those were hard occasions for Kagome, to only see her mother, brother, and Jii-san for only a few days time.

Inu Yasha remembered the first time he, Kagome, and Shippo had gone to the future. Sota had wanted to be come a hanyou as well and Kagome had had to explain to her mother so she could, in turn, explain to her son that he could not have Inu Yasha turn him into a hanyou. She left out the pat that only those mated to hanyous can become hanyous. The same principle actually applied to youkais as well.

Inu Yasha still had trouble believing that Kagome had chosen to stay with him and become his mate. He was terrified that he was actually still pinned to the tree by Kikyo's arrow and everything that had happened was just a dream.

"Inu Yasha? Are you alright?" Kagome asked, breaking through his thoughts. Inu Yash shook his head.

"Yeah, I'm fine…just fine." He nuzzled her cheek before taking Ko Inu into his arms and calling Shippo to follow him. "Come on, let's let your mother get dressed for tonight. Ko Inu looked up at his father's face, reaching up and grasping a lock of his silver hair, so much like his own, and yanking with his demi demon strength. "OUCH! Kogome, he did it again!" Inu Yasha called back to his love. He could hear Kagome laugh.

"You know he does it just for the reaction, Koi. He is definitely his father's son."

"Funny, I could have sworn he'd gotten from his mother," Inu Yasha said to Shippo as he made a face at Ko Inu, causing the little boy to laugh.

"I can hear you! Did you forget that I'm hanyou too?"

"Actually, for a moment I did," Inu Yasha admitted, blushing. He heard Kagome snort. Inu Yasha sighed. Life was great. And now he was going to see his friend Miroku and his wife Sango. Every thing was like a fairy tale. It couldn't get any better…except for tonight when the kids were sleeping. Inu Yasha could feel a shiver creep up his spine as he thought of what would happen.

*Ko Inu means child dog, or puppy
