InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Alone ❯ The Truth, and Meeting Shippou ( Chapter 5 )
Chapter Five - Alone by Sesshou-chan Lover
AN: Sorry that I didn't updated sooner! You could say I've had a…mini-writer's block. I just want to say I'm updating slowly because of my exams. Anyways, lets get on with the story! Oh ya, MY EMAIL FINALLY WORKS!! So if anyone wants to review me, feel free to do it in any way you want. Thanks for those who read this!
Kagome woke up to the sounds of TV downstairs. After her normal routine, she grabbed a jacket and decided to go for a jog.
"Bye, mama! I'm going for a run, I'll be back in half an hour!" Kagome informed her mother who was currently in the living room. Just as she was about to go out the door, the phone rang. Sighing, Kagome went and picked up the phone, expecting it to be Yuka or Eri.
"Moshi moshi?" Kagome said in an exasperated voice.
"Hello?" a male's voice asked. Kagome flushed, embarrassed.
"Um…ohayo gozaimasu Sesshoumaru..." she said. She could practically see his grin right now.
"Ohayo. Anyways, do you want to go for a jog in the park? I figured that because the first time I met you, you were jogging in the park, it would be a usual thing for you to do. So are you up to it?" Sesshoumaru asked.
"Sure! I was just about to go right now! Where are you?" Kagome asked.
"At the gate right now. I'll wait for you, ok?" Sesshoumaru said.
"Hai, I'll be there in less than 5 minutes, k? Ja!" Kagome said.
"Ja." he replied. Kagome, happy that Sesshoumaru actually called her. Yelling to her mom there was a change of plans, and she was going to be back later, she dashed out the door, in a rush. Reah just shook her head, saying, "Teenagers."
~*At the park*~
"So…" Kagome said, since she couldn't take the silence anymore. They had been jogging for half an hour already, and both of them hadn't said anything after the greetings. Sesshoumaru was thinking about his feelings for Kagome, and vice versa. Kagome remembered what her "conscience" said about Sesshoumaru's aura, and decided to take a look at it. After all, what could be wrong?
~*Kagome's POV*~
Remembering what I was taught as a child, I started concentrating my miko powers to let me "see" his aura.
`Hmmm…normal humans' auras are…um…light blue, mikos have pinkish/purplish auras, corrupted humans have black auras, and even though I don't think I need to remember this demons or anyone having demon blood in them have red auras…'
I started seeing his aura forming, seeing glimpses of…RED?! Demons didn't exist…they died out hundreds of years ago…what makes him an exception? The red was so dark and strong that it was maroonish…that meant he was strong. I stopped jogging. Sesshoumaru, noticing me stopping, stopped too.
"Is everything alright?" he asked. I looked around, and seeing no one, I said,
"You…you're a demon?!" I asked, still shocked. I saw him narrow his eyes.
"And you're a miko?" he said. He didn't even deny it.
"You didn't even tell me…" I said, hurt. He doesn't even trust me…damn, my eyes started burning. This is NOT the time to cry! I sniffled. Sesshoumaru sighed, and hugged me. It felt right in his arms, but I knew it was wrong. I mean, from all the legends and stories jii-san told me, I couldn't help but think of all the innocent people he had killed…
~*Sesshoumaru's POV*~
Seeing Kagome stop, I stopped too, worried she was hurt. Wait, worried? I sighed inwardly. I had gone soft, all because of a mere human.
"Is everything alright?" I asked. I saw her turn her head, seemingly looking for people who might be listening.
"You…you're a demon?!" she asked. I narrowed my eyes. How had she found out?
`Well, duh, didn't you see she's a miko?' my always-present conscience asked.
"And you're a miko?" I stated.
"You didn't even tell me…" she said in a small voice. I started smelling the scent of salt in the air. Damn…how did she know I can't stand it when she cries? She looked so…crushed. I sighed, and took her in my arms. I couldn't stand it when she (AN: Yes, I know, annoying, but then I feel like I'm overdoing the part when Kagome's "crushed"…) looked so vulnerable. I could feel her start to push away, and I tightened my arms around her.
"Kagome, look at me." I said when she refused to meet my gaze. I took my finger and put it under her chin, lifting her head up seeing her sapphire eyes, now clouded with tears. My heart clenched painfully.
"Would you tell anyone if you were a demon, if you knew that you would be shunned and rejected? How would it feel, to be rejected by the ones you love? Demons were, and still are thought to be monsters, killing ruthlessly. Humans - weak beings. Making friends with them is pointless." I could feel her push against me. I refused to let go.
"Making friends with them is pointless, because they would die so shortly afterwards. Now what would you think I'd think would happen if I were to tell you I was a demon? I'd just think you'd be disgusted, and try to get away. You didn't even tell me you were a miko." I sighed. It seemed I was doing it a lot since I met Kagome. "I'll understand if you wanted to leave right now." Letting go of her, I took a step back.
"No!" she said as she flung herself at me, wrapping her delicate arms around my waist. "I'm sorry…it's just…the last time I trusted someone…well it didn't turn out well. And for not telling you about me being a miko, I guess I sort of felt the same way you did…" she mumbled into my chest.
"Apology accepted." I said, not able to think of anything else to say for once.
"So if you're a demon, is Inu-yasha one too? And what kind of demon are you?" Kagome asked, looking up.
"No, Inu-yasha is not a demon. He is a hanyou, because my father betrayed my mother by rutting with a human." I answered, tensing up. Kagome nuzzled her face in my chest, and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of asked that…"
"You have a right to know." I said, avoiding her second question.
"So what type of demon are you?" she asked, letting go of me blushing. I winced inwardly.
"Inu…" I muttered. She perked up.
"Dog?! Awwwww can I see your youkai form? Pretty please?!!!" Kagome begged, acting like Rin. I knew her response would be that…I sighed again.
"Not here." I answered. She pouted. I smirked, pulled her to me and kissed her lightly. She blushed.
"You want to go to my…house? It's safe for me to transform there." I found it awkward to call it house since it was big enough to be a mansion.
"Sure!" Kagome said.
~*Normal POV*~
(At Sesshoumaru's House…errr Mansion)
Kagome gasped when the limousine approached the gates of the ma…house. Sesshoumaru had called his driver to come pick them up, because they didn't really feel like walking even more. Even though Kagome had been at his house before, she still couldn't get over the simple beauty of it. Passing the gates, there was a simple fountain with the Greek Goddess Aphrodite in the middle of it. The mansion itself was white, and the rooftop couldn't even be seen. It had to be at least 5 floors!
Sesshoumaru seemed pleased that Kagome liked his house. His brother alone took up one floor of the house, cramming it up with all his "useless rubbish" as he called it. Sesshoumaru had the highest floor, overlooking the property. Suddenly, the limousine screeched to a halt. Sesshoumaru tensed, and Kagome scooted a bit closer to Sesshoumaru. The driver could be heard saying, "There's something…errr…someone in the front of the car…" (A.N.: Can anyone guess who it is? I'll give the winner/s a cookie!)
Kagome gasped and got out, walking to the front worried for whoever it was. Sesshoumaru followed. When Kagome approached it, she found an adorable kitsune pup quivering in front of the car. Almost glowing with maternal instinct, she walked up to him slowly, not wanting to scare him, saying, "Hi, my name's Kagome. What's wrong?"
"Wh…why aren't you running away?" the small fox asked.
"Why should I? Just because you're a demon, it doesn't mean you're a monster." Kagome said, glancing at Sesshoumaru. His gaze softened. The kit flung himself into Kagome's arms and started crying. Kagome started stroking his tail, soothing him.
"Shhhh…don't cry, what happened?" Kagome asked.
"My otou-san and okaa-san were killed by this…this meanie! He took my brothers and sisters…and (hiccup) started stabbing them (sob) in front of me! I…I was scared…(sniff) and I ran away…" the kit said. Kagome's eyes started glistening with tears. No one deserved to go through this torture so young.
"It's alright. We…at least I'll help you find the bad guys. It's ok…err…" Kagome said, uncertain of his name.
"Shippou…" he said.
"Shippou, what a nice name!" Kagome complimented, noticing the say his chest puffed out with pride.
Sesshoumaru almost shook his head. Kagome's emotions were going to be the end of him someday…
"Do you remember what the men looked like?" Sesshoumaru asked. Kagome shot a grateful glance at him.
"They…they used lightning, and one could fly…they both looked really scary!" Shippou squeaked, still in Kagome's arms. Now, Sesshoumaru wanted to tear him out of his arms, jealous he was getting all the attention. Then, the lightning part struck him (pun not intended).
"Hiten and Manten…" Sesshoumaru growled. (AN: I've thought of 2 good times I could of ended the chapter and made you readers wait…nah, I guess I won't be that evil…)
"Who?" Kagome directed her gaze at him.
"They are…you can say rivals of mine. Come, we will talk about this inside." Sesshoumaru nodded towards the driver, dismissing him, and led the other 2 inside the mansion. Once they were settled in a sofa, he began his small tale.
"As you both probably know, I am a demon." Sesshoumaru began, the rest nodding their heads.
"Demons have extremely long lifespans, depending on their blood. Some even being immortal, not dying unless they are murdered. Since my father's blood was extremely strong, and my blood was not tainted," Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes at the memory of Inu-yasha, "I am over 500 years old. In the feudal period, if I am correct, I ruled as the Taiyoukai of the Western lands. 2 demons that always caused havoc in my lands were Hiten and Manten. They were known as the Thunder Brothers. I thought I had disposed of them, but now I assume I have not, since I keep track of the demons that still exist and the only Lightning demons I have ever heard mentioned before were Hiten and Manten."
"So where are they now?" Kagome said.
"When I ran, I remember a big and tall tree, and we were in a forest." Shippou said. Kagome looked at Sesshoumaru. He nodded, and she whispered, "The forest behind my house…"
(AN: I'm running out of ideas!! … … … Light Bulb!!! (cough) )
Sesshoumaru ended up driving them towards the Higurashi Shrine, with Kagome getting more nervous by the second. Sesshoumaru shot her a questioning glance.
"Remember the…incident with my father? It took place there…and I haven't been in the forest since that day…" Kagome said. Shippou was crying, because he didn't want to see the bodies of his siblings, mother, and father.
"Don't worry, Shippou, we'll protect you. And after that, we'll give your mother, and father a proper burial. Let's hope that we can save your brothers and sisters, ok?" Kagome said gently to Shippou, who was still snuggled in Kagome's arms.
They finally reached the shrine. Well, they reached the stairs anyways. Kagome looked towards Sesshoumaru, who seemed to have a look of concentration plastered on his face now. Suddenly, he was surrounded by a glowing purple light. Kagome squeaked and backed up 1 step, but Shippou seemed calm.
"Kagome, he's only transforming into his humanoid form. He must smell that no one is around here." Shippou explained.
"Ohh…" Kagome said. The "humanoid" Sesshoumaru stepped up towards Kagome. (AN: I know it's not a tail, but bear with me people, it's MY story!) Kagome gasped.
"KAWAII!!" Sesshoumaru winced. "Hehe, sorry…" Kagome grinned sheepishly. Sesshoumaru just blinked. "I forgot you had better senses…is that a tail? Wow, your hair's silver!" Kagome suddenly appeared in front of Sesshoumaru, starting to pet his tail.
Sesshoumaru just got an anime-styled sweatdrop, but looked content.
~*Sesshoumaru's POV*~
I started transforming, nervous about what Kagome would think of me. (A/N: I know, OOC…) I noticed she took a step back, and I winced inwardly. Shippou explained what I was doing, and she relaxed.
"KAWAII!" Kagome said extremely loudly, after I had finished. I winced. I'd forgotten how sensitive my senses were in this form…but the nose part's okay…I had long ago trained myself to ignore the stench of pollution and humans. Except Kagome's scent is even more intoxicating in this form...
"Hehe…sorry…" Kagome grinned apologetically. "I forgot you had better senses…is that a tail?! Wow, your hair's silver!" Kagome suddenly appeared right in front of me. Must be a women thing...I groaned inaudibly. She had started stroking my tail…how'd she know that that was my weakness? To my horror, I had started…growling contentedly…
Kagome giggled. "Are you purring?" Then, she stopped, to my m…wait, didn't I just say I didn't want her petting my tail? She started tracing the markings on my face. I started getting tired of staying here, though I knew no humans were watching us, and grabbed her hand. Kagome looked at me questionably, and I picked her up with my tail wrapped around her. I grabbed Shippou with one arm, and jumped.
Kagome looked around her in what I hoped to be awe; we were already at the top of the steps. I released the two, and I started leading them into the forest, starting to sniff for the scent that I had believed years ago to be nonexistent. But, I caught the dreaded scent. What were the thunder brothers doing alive in the 21st century?
"Sesshou…" Kagome said. I looked at her. "Can you wait a second? I want to get my bow and arrows." I nodded, and she dashed off. When she returned, she held a wooden traditional longbow and a quiver of arrows. I looked at her questionably, and she replied, "My bow and arrows with my miko powers can probably help you." I just nodded, and we entered the forest. I started walking towards the brothers' scent. Unbeknownst to the two, I had brought my 2 swords. They had had a concealment spell on them so they wouldn't be seen. The Tensaiga seemed to be pulsing lately…
"So, the runt finally comes with help. Too bad he was too late." a voice said.
