Chapter Six - Alone by Sesshou-chan Lover

~*Last time*~

"So, the runt finally comes with help. Too bad he was too late."

~*Back to the story*~

Sesshoumaru growled. Kagome just looked around, very confused. Shippou started crying again, and Kagome started stroking his head. Kagome was just staring blankly at the…demon. Not demons.

"What happened?" asked Kagome.

"The Thunder Brothers are dead, I…disposed of them myself." the mysterious person said.

"So who are you?" Kagome asked. The demon appeared in front of Kagome, taking her hands and kissing it. She blushed, and Sesshoumaru growled again.

"I, my dear lady, am Kouga…" Kouga murmured, while standing up. "What's a beautiful woman like you doing with dog shit over there?"

Sesshoumaru disappeared into a blur, reappearing in front of Kouga, and pinning him to a tree by his neck. "You dare insult me, ookami? Need I remind you who is the lord of these lands?"

"Ye…yes, Sesshoumaru-s…sama…" Kouga stuttered, gasping for air.

"Sesshoumaru…" Kagome said uncertain. Sesshoumaru loosened his grip on Kouga so he could breathe a little easier, and looked towards Kagome indicating he was listening.

"Why don't you let go of him and let him tell us what happened?" Kagome suggested. Sesshoumaru dropped Kouga painfully on the forest floor. Glaring at Kouga, Sesshoumaru said, "Speak." Kouga glared at Sesshoumaru.

"I was just out walking back home from work, when I heard a small explosion in a nearby forest. So I went to check it out. I saw the slaughtered bodies, and two ugly and gruesome beasts, so I…disposed of them." Kouga said.

"Th..then what happened to the kitsune family?" Kagome asked.

"They're all dead." Kouga answered simply, staring at Kagome intently, which was making her a bit nervous. Shippou started sobbing, clutching to Kagome's shirt, starting to soak it. Kagome didn't mind at all, and she started whispering comforting words to him.

"Well, arigatou Kouga for helping us, in a way…I guess all we can do now is bury the bodies…" Kagome said painfully, trying not to imagine other versions of Shippou getting slaughtered…'No! Think happy thoughts, Kagome, happy thoughts!' she thought. Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome, who was sniffling a little.

Sesshoumaru actually widened his eyes when he felt the pulsing of Tensaiga at his hip.

~*Sesshoumaru's POV*~

I was extremely irritated at the wolf who was kissing Kagome's hand right now, and even more furious at him when he insulted me. Running up to him, and pinning him to the tree by his neck, I said, "You dare insult me, ookami? Need I remind you who is the lord of these lands?"

"Ye…yes, Sesshoumaru-s…sama…" he muttered, trying to breathe.

My keen hearing picked up Kagome saying, "Sesshoumaru…" a bit uncertainly. I loosened my grip on the whelp a little so he could breathe a little easier.

"Why don't you let go of him and let him tell us what happened?" Kagome suggested. I let go of Kouga. I glared at him, and said, "Speak."

"They're all dead." he said, staring at MY Kagome. Oh how I needed to take a break from all this…I sighed inwardly. The kit started crying, clutching to Kagome's shirt. It didn't look like she minded at all, and she even started comforting him.

"Well, arigatou Kouga for helping us, in a way…I guess all we can do now is bury the bodies…" Kagome said sadly, which twisted my heart a little, oddly. The ookami said goodbye and he left. She started sniffling. I sighed out loud this time. Suddenly, I felt a pulsing at my hip that I hadn't felt in a long time, which is saying something since I'm over 5 centuries old. `The Tensaiga? Why would it want me to resurrect the family?' One look at Kagome already told me the answer.

"Step aside." I said, removing the concealing spell on the swords. Kagome gasped. I ran swiftly towards the stench of dead demons, grabbing all the kitsune bodies and putting them in one place. I raised my sword.

"Sesshoumaru…what are you doing?" Kagome asked, looking at me. I didn't reply. I knew, to other people, I would seem I would *ahem* chop them up into pieces or something somewhat similar to that. I swiped the sword across their bodies. The wounds magically disappeared, and they started breathing again. The eldest were coming to.

~*Normal POV*~

Everyone blinked. Shippou gave a cry, and launched himself to his parents. There was a joyful reunion, and Kagome hugged Sesshoumaru lightly.

"Arigato…but why'd you do that?" Kagome whispered. "You didn't have to…" She got no reply. She smiled anyways, kissed him on the cheek and let go of him. Sesshoumaru actually found himself missing the warmth. The two kitsunes that were already awake were talking to Shippou, and were making their way to Kagome and Sesshoumaru.

"Thank you so much for helping my family." the male adult said.

"It was no problem - I couldn't bear to see poor Shippou so sad anyways…" Kagome said. Sesshoumaru just stood there silently.

"Thank you for reviving us - I don't know what I'd do if I found out Shippou was alone in this world. Sesshoumaru nodded politely. Kagome ruffled Shippou's hair, and he giggled.

"Arigato Ms. Kagome!" Shippou said snuggling in his okaa-san's arms. The adults gathered the smaller children, addressed their appreciation and thanks, and they left. There was silence.

"You know, I keep wondering what it would be like if I had a kid…" Kagome said. They had started walking out of the forest when Kagome giggled. "Look at us - we come in the forest looking like we're prepared for a huge war and look what happens…" Sesshoumaru almost shook his head. `Humans and their emotions…'

Sesshoumaru suddenly halted. There was a cold, unnatural breathe that made Kagome shiver that ran through the air.

"Well, well. If it isn't the protector of the Shikon no Tama…" cackled a cold voice. (AN: I just realized this is SOOOOOOOOOO short…sorry!! I promise a longer chapter later on!)

SCL: Muahahaha…sorry I didn't update sooner! For those who don't know I was working on my other story. Instead of keeping you waiting for an even longer period of time, I thought I'd just go ahead with a short one for once.

Sesshoumaru: (angry) WILL YOU PLEASE STOP IT WITH THE CLIFFHANGERS!!!!

(Green claws dripping with poison)

SCL: (slowly backing away…) Uh…Sesshou? You're…mad!! You…yelled?! (gasp)

Sesshoumaru: (twitch)

Kagome: Calm down Sesshou…(puts hand on shoulder)

Sesshoumaru: (calms down)

Miroku: How come I'm not in this story yet! And dude…you're whipped….

SCL: Uh…hehe…(backs away from readers) I'll update soon! Err…that's what I always say isn't it…anyways please review!
