InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Amidst the Moonlight ❯ Chapter 5: My new Home. ( Chapter 5 )
Chapter 5
As the men placed up camp, Kagome and the others decided that they would go and take a bath in a nearby hot spring. As Rin and Sango engaged in conversation, Kagome’s mind began to linger. ‘I can’t believe Kikyou would do this to me. Of all the things to do to anger the hanyou she aborted his child. Damn you Kikyou,’ she thought angrily. “Kagome?” Kagome looked up to her friends, all thoughts of Kikyou leaving her mind. “Hm?” “You seemed to be leaving us. Is everything alright?” Rin asked. Kagome placed on a small smile and nodded. “Yes. I was just thinking about some things,” she said turning her back to them and leaning against the wall of the spring and folded her arms so that she could lay her head upon it.
Sang o and Rin gazed at their friend sympathetically wishing there was something they could do to ease her pain; but they knew there was nothing. Because of Kikyou and her ways Kagome was going to have to suffer. “Damn Kikyou,” Sango muttered to herself. While Kikyou was somewhere being a whore, Kagome was left with the burden of her mistake.
After some time, the girls left the hot spring and returned to the small camp that the men had prepared. “I take it you girls had a nice bath?” Sesshomaru asked Rin. Rin nodded and sat down next to him. “It was nice, but nothing as good as the springs in the palaces. I can’t wait to get home my lord,” Rin said leaning her head against his shoulder. Kagome watched the intimacy between the two and wished she could know it as well. Her gaze traveled to the hanyou who sat with his legs crossed and his arms folded inside his haori. He was gazing into the fire deep in thought, probably about Kikyou no less.
As the night grew longer and the cool breeze began to pick up, the gang headed into the large tent to rest. Rin had taken a spot nearest the far side of the tent with Sesshomaru nestled beside her, Sango was on another side with Miroku leaning against the wall asleep, and Kagome had chosen the wall opposite of Rin and Sesshomaru. She had just placed the covers up to her neck, when someone moved in and settled down behind her. Her body tensed as a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and warm breath brushed across the nape of her neck. “You might as well sleep wench because tomorrow we have a long journey ahead of us,” Inuyasha whispered harshly in her ear.
Kagome relaxed somewhat and closed her eyes. But sleep was hard for her to find seeing that she was wrapped in the arms of who might possibly be the one to end her life.

Early the next morning, as Inuyasha said, they packed up camp and began the 6 hour journey to the Western Lands. Kagome and the other girls walked behind the men who took the lead, all silent with tension feeling the air. Kagome gazed into the sky that held not a cloud in sight and sighed. As a child she had loved to walk along the gardens of her home and watch the sky go from light to dark and fill with millions of stars, but today it felt different. Today she gazed at the sky and dreaded the moment they would appear. Once the arrived to the inu-youkai’s kingdom, would she ever be able to the see the stars again? Would she be able to walk through a garden and admire their beauty or would she herself become a star?
In uyasha turned his head slightly and looked at the group of girls walking behind them, but kept his eye on his mate. She looked beautiful in her turquoise kimono that stopped mid calf and the way it clung to her beautifully shaped form. How her skin was flawless of scars and her face that of a porcelain doll. He smirked. He would hate to harm her beauty, but a wench had a fire and wit about her that he would have to change. ‘I love a good challenge,’ he thought to himself.
Soon they arrived to a village that was nestled within the western part of feudal japan and the men decided to let the women rest and do a little shopping. Kagome, Sango, and Rin walked around the many shops of the market place admiring the goods that lay before them. Kagome picked up a root of ginger and lightly inhaled its wonderful fragrance. “It smells wonderful,” she said opening her eyes and looking at the root in her hand. “It’s one of the best spices when preparing dumplings ma’am. And for a fair price I will give it to you for 3 yen.” Kagome nodded and took the money from the small pouch she had on her hip and handed the man.
He wrapped her ginger in cloth and placed it into a small sack before handing it to her. Kagome thanked him and moved on to the next stand that held fine silks and jewelry. “How much for this silver silk?” Kagome asked. The woman picked up the silk and tested its material before looking back to Kagome. “The material would run for a hundred yen, but for you madam, I will give it to you for fifty.” Kagome smiled thankfully and told the woman the length should would like. Also as a small girl Kagome had taken up the hobby of knitting. She could knit the most beautiful dresses, but for this silk, should make herself a nice sleeping gown.
Once the woman measure out the amount that Kagome would need, she handed it to her nicely folded and a white ribbon tied around it to keep it in place. “You have a nice day ma’am,” the woman replied. Kagome nodded then made her way back to where Rin and Sango waited with their goods.
When they arrived back to the men, Inuyasha looked at the silk in Kagome’s hands questioningly. “What’s that for?” he questioned. Kagome looked up at him and sighed. “If you must know, I was going to knit myself a new gown when we return to the castle. If my lord doesn’t mind?” Inuyasha ‘keh’d’ then turned and began walking without a backwards glance. Kagome rolled her eyes and soon began to follow him. “How far are we from the castle?” Sango asked Rin. “We’re about 1 hour away. The castle isn’t really that far from the village.” Sango nodded then looked back at Kagome who gazed down at her silk thoughtfully as she walked. “Kagome? Are you gonna be okay?” Kagome looked up at Sango and smiled genuinely. “Yes Sango, I was wondering about what designs I should place up on my nighty.” Sango moved next her friend and wrapped her arm around her shoulder. “I have the perfect idea, but I think this should be special. I think,” she stopped to see if Inuyasha was listening and sure enough his ear swivelled their way. “Never mind. I’ll talk to you once we can get away into the gardens at the castles.”
Ka gome nodded then started up a new conversation with Sango as they continued the rest of the journey to the castle.

As they arrived at the castle in the amount of time Rin had predicted, they waited for the large iron gates to open before the entered. Kagome gasped and Inuyasha smirked back at her cockily as the advanced on the large castle. Kagome was taken aback by its size. It was about ten times bigger than her castle back home and now she knew why the inu-youkai were so greatly respected. As they descended the steps that led to the large cherry oak doors that were the castle entrance they were greeted by a man who she assumed was Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s father. “Sons. I see your journey was successfully?” he questioned. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru grunted their approval and embraced their father slightly as his arms outstretched. He then turned his attention to Rin who approached him and bowed. “Rin. It’s ever so great to see you’ve returned safely,” he greeted her; with a hug as well. “It’s good to be home my lord,” she replied then pulled away.
When the inu-youkai turned his attention to Sango and Kagome the bowed respectfully. “My. You two are of equally great beauty,” he said walking down the few steps that separated them and embraced Sango and Kagome at the same time. “You must be Kagome,” he guessed. Kagome nodded and looked him over. He was extremely handsome and she knew immediately where his sons got it from. He had long silver hair as well that he kept in an up ponytail, the same amber eyes as Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s but to her surprise they were cold and filled with age. He wore they inu-youkai sacred armor with a cape draped across his back and two swords were tied on both his left and right side.
“And who might this be? A mate for Miroku perhaps?”
Sango blushed and Kagome chuckled somewhat for the first time since the marriage ceremony. “My lord this is my friend Sango who wished to accompany me to the Western Lands.” He nodded. “It’s wonderful to meet you both and please call me Inutashio. I am just regretful that I was not able to attend the wedding. I had business to take care of with the wolf youkai.” Kagome and Sango nodded in understanding and followed him as he once again ascended the marble steps and into the castle. “My sons and Miroku will show you girls to you chambers and then I wish for you all to join me for dinner in the dining hall in a few hours. I feel we have much to discuss.” Everyone nodded and followed Inutashio into the castle, the doors sealing closed behind them.
Everyone then bid the Inutashio goodbye until after dinner and their mates, or friend in Sango and Miroku’s place, made their way to show them where there rooms were to be. Kagome walked quietly next to Inuyasha not knowing what to say because the hanyou seemed to be in a foul mood. Why? She didn’t know because it had been left up to her she would have married Hojo a Lord from a village not too far from hers.
In uyasha looked down at the girl beside him and sighed. He really didn’t like punishing the girl, but she had to know her place. He knew the issue would come up tonight during dinner, but there was no way she would get out of this. She had lied to him about killing his pup, but thankfully if she hadn’t had her friends to speak up for her punishment would’ve been a lot worse. They arrived a short time later in front of a pair of large oak doors with the same engravings as the one the front entrance had, and Inuyasha pushed opened the doors.
Upon entering Kagome gazed at the beauty of the room. It had a large bed sitting against the far side wall with a golden comforter and many small golden and red pillows laying upon the head of the bed. The bed was a canopy with red and gold lace going across the top. Sitting in a far corner of the room was a large wardrobe closet and as Inuyasha walked over to it and opened to place his armor inside, she found that it was filled with exquisite male kimono’s. She noticed another wardrobe closet sitting in the opposite corner and assumed that was where her kimono’s would be placed. Walking further into the room, she ran her hand against the comforter and felt the smoothness of its texture. “Italian silk. One of the rarest silks in Japan,” she mumbled to herself.
Her gaze traveled around the rest of the room and found that the walls were painted red matching the red design and some of the red pillows that lay upon the bed, and a golden border went around the tops of the walls. ‘Nice.’ “You will need to take a bath in my private hot spring and a servant will be here shortly to attend to your needs. I have matters I need to speak upon with my father and will meet you at dinner in a few hours.” Without another word or backwards glance Inuyasha left the room.
Kagome watched him until the doors closed then took a seat upon the chest that sat in front of the bed. “So this is my new room. I wonder how Sango is fairing?” she thought out loud.

Inuyasha walked into the large meeting room where Sesshomaru and Inutashio sat at the head talking. “Inuyasha, come in and sit,” his father ordered. Inuyasha did as his father asked and sat to the left of him while Sesshomaru sat to the right. “What is it that you wished to speak to me about that has been brought to my attention by Sesshomaru?” Inutashio asked. Inuyasha frowned. “I wanted to speak to you about the punishment of my mate. She has committed the crime of lying to me and needs to be punished.” Inutashio nodded. “What was it that she lied to you about?” he asked. Inuyasha’s frown deepened. “She lied to me about the death of my pup.” Inutashio’s eyes widened. “You impregnated her?!!” Inuyasha sighed and bowed his head. “No father. I impregnated her sister Kikyou.” Inutashio stood up knocking his chair over in his wake. “What the hell were you thinking Inuyasha!!! How could you impregnate another when you were betrothed. That is dishonor to you and your family!!! You are a disgrace!!!” he roared. Inuyasha stood up then pushing his chair back. “I did not impregnate the girl while I was betrothed!!! This was before I knew anything of the other wench!!!” Inutashio’s frown faltered somewhat but he continued to glare at his youngest son.
“W hy did the princess lie about this then when she had no notion of the pup?” Inuyasha shrugged. “I guess she did it to protect her sister. Either way she lied to her mate and she shall be punished father!” Inutashio sighed and took his seat once again. “Very well. What shall her punishment be? It can not be too sever because she did not harm the pup; but a lie is a lie.” Inuyasha took his seat as well and folded his arms. “I was thinking you had an idea.”
Inutashio placed his elbows upon the table and folded his hands together, leaning his mouth against it. “Ten lashings. I’m sure you can come up with something else for punishment Inuyasha.” Inuyasha growled and stood up from the table and walked to a nearby window. “Feh! When will her punishment take place?” Inutashio sighed. Tomorrow at down in the courtyard. And you shall be the one to deliver her punishment not a servant, guard, I, nor Sesshomaru. She is your mate Inuyasha; you must deal the punishment, understood?” Inuyasha looked to his father and smirked. “Whatever. It will make the bitch pay for lying to me.” With that, he exited the room to go into the gardens for some alone.
As he left Inutashio sighed and sat back in his chair. “You are dismissed Sesshomaru.” Without a word Sesshomaru got up from his seat and exited the same way as his brother. Once they were gone, Inutashio was left to his thoughts. ‘Sometimes I wonder who is the evillist of my sons. Sesshomaru? Or perhaps...Inuyasha.”
That’s the end of this chapter. Next one should be up soon. Please review.
