Chapter 1

It was early spring and the cherry blossoms were falling from their places in the trees and there were voices echoing in the depths of the beauty. These voices were that of a hanyou and three humans and yet another voice tainted the rest. This voice belonged to a squeaky little kitsune.

Kagome was walking with Inuyasha, as always when they came across yet another creature after the Shikon no Tama. The shear beauty of the cherry blossoms around it tainted this creature's shadow.

This creature though, was different and was mischievous. She held different vials with different concoctions. The contents of the vials were a deep red in contrast with the cherry blossoms.

Kagome knew Inuyasha was going to try and kill the creature but then the creature did something that yet again should have been expected.

The creature threw a vial at Inuyasha, The vial smashed and the contents were spilled all over Inuyasha.

As soon as his skin came into contact with the contents of the vial Inuyasha changed. Inuyasha felt different and noticed that his senses were fading, he was no longer able to smell the cherry blossoms as well. That was when he realized; Inuyasha had changed into a human!

After changing into a human Inuyasha could no longer wield the Tetsusaiga. The Tetsusaiga changed back into its old rusted form and Inuyasha fell to the ground after previously being in the air on the verge of an attack.

The creature landing on the ground and stated simply, "I am an oni and my name is Masami. The contents of the vial did not have contact with your blood so the transformation is not permanent."

Kagome, finding something familiar about Masami, was transfixed.

Masami then turned and slashed Kagome with her sword that she unsheathed in a flash.

Kagome was sitting on the ground while Masami threw a vial at the other companions. The contents put Miroku, Sango and Shippou to sleep.

"Now maybe that fight I was waiting for will be more of a challenge considering the prize."

Kagome not understanding what Masami meant asked, "What do you mean?"

"What I mean is you now being a demon may be more of a challenge for me since many youkai are very weak and I am seeking a challenge and this would be sweet with a prize such as the Shikon no Tama."

"What do you mean `Now you're a demon'?"

"You haven't noticed the changes in yourself?"

Masami was right Kagome had claws, better hearing, better sense of smell, and better eyesight. She was a demon!

"How am I a demon now?" Kagome asked quite amazed with herself now that she noticed the cut she had received had healed.

"My blade had the same contents as in the vial on it but this liquid turns you into a demon."

Kagome realized the liquid had had to come in contact with her blood if it was on the blade. She thought about what the oni had said earlier to Inuyasha. That only means the transformation is permanent!

Kagome coming to this realization no longer felt like she had to be protected by Inuyasha and the others anymore.

Kagome attacked Masami with more speed and agility she had ever thought possible to come from her, Kagome Higurashi.

Kagome now having claws struck the oni but the body only looked injured. Kagome thinking back to previous encounters with oni knew that she must have her soul hidden somewhere else. (Reference from Yura of the Hair)

Kagome now searched around frantically while dodging strikes from Masami.

Masami, who looks exactly like Yura, has red eyes and is wearing a red and black kimono, which is to small for her.

After looking at their surroundings Kagome noticed a stream nearby but that did not help considering that she had to locate Masami's hiding place. Kagome also noticed the cherry blossoms surrounding them.

Kagome then leapt up high in the air, above the cherry blossoms, and saw what looked like a glass orb filled with a liquid with many of something floating in it.

Kagome, coming to the conclusion that this was Masami's hiding place went as fast as she could to it.

When Kagome got to what she thought to be the hiding place she shattered the glass and Masami, quite a distance behind, screamed out in horror. Kagome hearing the scream was certain that was Masami's hiding place by now.

Kagome now realized that what it was that was floating in the liquid was many human hearts. Kagome was horrified to think that the liquid used on her and Inuyasha came from the hearts of humans.

Kagome searched the hearts to find one in particular that stood out from the rest in some way. Kagome with her perfect eyesight had no problems with searching from above.

Kagome smelt blood in this liquid and it was a very strong scent. Kagome ignored the smell and noted that one heart in particular was beating with a steady rhythm. Kagome, then thinking of a way to destroy the heart without touching the liquid tried to think of her other demon strengths.

Then Kagome remembered Sesshomaru, not so long time ago, had poisonous claws. So she then concentrated and sure enough poison oozed from her claws just landing on the heart that was beating and dissolving every last trace of it.

With that Masami also dissolved away as the heart had. All that was left of the hiding place and of Masami was a deep red stain on the ground, which was enhanced by the rich pink of the cherry blossoms.

Kagome headed back to Inuyasha and the rest of her friends who would be just now waking up.

Inuyasha still in the form of a human was the first awake.

"Hi Inuyasha. How are you feeling?"

Kagome not realizing that her hair had become a beautiful white and had grown much, her eyes had become a bright hazel color, and in the middle of her forehead appeared a light blue full moon and a navy blue diamond shape in the middle of it.

Kagome had turned into a beautiful demon, her beauty was enhanced by, the rich surroundings in which were a shower of beautifully smelling blossoms.

Inuyasha looked at her and yelled, "Where is Kagome and what have you done to her you demon! You must be working with Masami!"

Kagome confused at his rambling turned to her other friends who seemed to agree with Inuyasha's crazy antics.

"I'm Kagome. Don't you recognize your own friend?"

"Your not Kagome you don't look a thing like Kagome." Spat Inuyasha still a human with his human senses that would not be able to detect the scent of Kagome that was just tainted by the demon scent she now took on.

"Sit . . . Boy . . ." Kagome said very softly. She knew it was barely audible especially with her eyes starting to water.

Kagome ran off into the forest as fast as she could knowing that without his demon senses Inuyasha didn't even hear her. But even if he did the cherry blossoms would drown out her scent.
